5 Napkin Burger New York Reviews from The Last Year

Came to 5 Napkin for lunch before a Broadway show with a friend who highly recommended it. It was delicious (although I wish fries came with the burger :)) A great size, great flavors - definitely had to cut it in half so it wouldn't get TOO messy. I got the Truffle Burger, a favorite and my friend and husband got the 5 Napkin Burger. Highly highly recommend both (truffle only for truffle lovers of course). We got there around 12 on a Saturday and it wasn't crazy busy, I felt the crowd started coming in around 1pm. We did make a reservation but it seems like there were a lot of tables to accommodate walk ins!
Very good
Nice atmosphere, great welcome. The Burgers are beautiful, good and fresh. Sunday dessert was delicious, to share is very good.

Just a few blocks from the TKTS booth is this restaurant located in Hell's Kitchen. There's also dining outside but since the weather was iffy we decided to eat inside. First they had 2 for 1 Mimosa's which hit the spot, tasty and not watered down. I ordered the 5 Napkin Burger which had Gruyère cheese, caramelized onions and a rosemary garlic aioli. I normally don't eat the bun because they can get soggy, not here. It was soo good! Hubby ordered the grilled soy marinated tuna burger. Sesame ginger slaw, wasabi mayo & crisp fried onions. Which he also devoured! We ordered a small side of sweet potato fries to share. The service was friendly and prompt! A great spot for lunch before a matinee!
Great Burger Restaurant
This js a great find, superb food and excellent staff and service. It was so good we went twice in 5 days. Its also over the way from Rudys which is a great bar. Dont over order on sides as they are huge and try and save room for a baked NY cheesecake…we shared one between 3!

Years ago I had a horrible experience here so I wrote this place off. Recently, I stopped in, the food was great as was the service, and they had an amazing happy hour ...TWICE a day. Food...drinks...service...everything has improved 10 fold. So, after work...I'll stop in for a drink...or two, and maybe some food. Angie, the bartender, is amazing! She engages everyone at the bar, has a beautiful smile, and is more than welcoming to everybody! It's really hard for me to say, but, I'm becoming a regular. Now, it's my go to place!

Walking distance from almost anywhere! Got the 5 Napkin and the Truffle burger. Both of which were bomb - loved the atmosphere and the location. Highly recommend!!

Stopped in to 5 Napkin Burger for lunch before seeing a Broadway show at the Hell's Kitchen location. I've heard from a few people this is a spot worth checking out so I had to make my way in and find out for myself. It was a pleasant surprise it was less than a 3 block walk from the theater and luckily we had good weather. I got the 5 Napkin Burger (10 oz. All Natural Beef, Imported Gruyere Cheese, Caramelized Onions & Rosemary-Garlic Aioli) and my son got the regular cheeseburger that just had American, lettuce, tomato, and pickle. The burgers here do not come with any sides so we added a large order of fries to split. We had a plethora of different servers throughout the meal and other members of management and such checking in on us. They are very on top of their tables and the service was good. The room was bright and enjoyable as well. Very open layout and not too cramped. The 5 Napkin burger was very tasty. The rosemary-garlic aioli reminded me a lot of a béarnaise sauce and was super creamy and had a nice flavor from the herbs. The onions were caramelized well and the gruyere was a good touch almost making it feel like it was a French onion soup burger. The burger was also cooked to a perfect medium as I had ordered. The bun was a brioche and tasted good but it was a lot of bun for this burger. They could stand a slightly smaller bun. The fries were a crinkle cut and they were crispy and not over-salted. Was this burger with no sides worth $21.50? I'm not so sure about that...but it was very tasty nonetheless. Total bill for a couple burgers and an order of fries at lunch time was $56 prior to tip. With that considered I would still say that 5 Napkin Burger absolutely Didn't Suck, but I'll be interested to try something else locally next time around. Delicious burgers. Very friendly service.
Very friendly service. American flair. Delicious burgers. Large selection of beers. We would come back
Good grub near Broadway.
Really good burgers at a reasonable price (for New York). Good happy hour specials. Although we were a large party of 13, the service was excellent. Close proximity to Broadway theaters.

During my visit with my family, I discovered that the restaurant had great food and a friendly staff. The space clean full of light. Additionally, the prices were quite reasonable..
Alternative to super crowded Broadway
This place is located in the Hell Kitchen restaurant row and offers a quality burger with very attentive customer service. Because of me, I ordered the wrong dish and the manager solved my embarrassment with great availability and elegance. Congratulations we will be back.
Typical American restaurant
Very good burger restaurant, highly recommended in the Manhattan area. In the hells kitchen area. The area is not the best but it is well worth it. Better to reserve
Great burgers - great service
Really great burgers - a clear recommendation for a stay in New York. The service is also super friendly. 😍 We will be back there again the next time we are in New York.
We had a delicious lunch.
We both had the signature 5Napkin burger with extra cheese and bacon. Then the special Thanksgiving pumpkin cheesecake and NY cheesecake. It was all amazing!!! It is our last day in NYC and our waiter Leonardo was the person who made our last day really special. He gave us the best service and is a beautiful person. When we come back to New York we'll come for another burger and we hope that we'll see Leonardo again. Besitos x
Great location for our night out near the theater district.
The burger and fries were fantastic. The beer was very tasty!
Quick and polite service, nice talkative atmosphere.
We ordered the truffle fries, wings, impossible melt, and regular fries and were quite satisfied with all items. Might seem pricey but if you're hungry it is more than worth it.
Tasty Burgers!
Great place on the border of Chelsea and Hell's Kitchen. We arrived a little earlier than the time of reservation (= must), which was no problem, our table was prepared while we had to wait a while at the bar. The menu and choice is wide, but the place is known for its excellent burgers, so we chose this one. The portions are large, so be sure to take this into account if you are hungry. We took 3 dishes for 4 people and this was more than enough. Prices are certainly OK, and the same can be said of the quality. Apparently one of the better burger places in NYC, which we certainly won't argue with.
Patty melt
Really enjoyed our evening here. Very popular spot, good atmosphere. Staff very friendly. Food delicious but expensive.
An "elegant" burger
We had dinner here on the evening of December 28th. Table booked online long in advance, to have a guaranteed seat in New York during the busiest time of the year. Although the location is very close to Times Square, the place is absolutely not the classic place for tourists nor the classic fast food style burger joint. It's a really nice place, where the service is attentive and attentive right from the welcome. I would define the hamburger as elegant both for the environment in which it is eaten and for the type of sandwich (loaded but not too much, tasty and plated in a simple but elegant way). The beers and side chips are excellent, especially the sweet ones. The mac & cheese is very good!! A highly recommended place to try an excellent burger and spend a pleasant evening!!
Excellent dinner
The service was excellent, special burgers and great value for money. Very nice and typical place, a few minutes from Times Square.
Good solid meal choice
If you are looking for a burger before or after a Broadway show, this restaurant fits the bill. I have eaten there twice, once solo at the bar, and another time with a friend. This high energy place always seems to be busy and no wonder. The service is attentive and the food decent. Is it the best burger in town? Not in my opinion, but the crowds who frequent this place may disagree.

Update: Returned to the restaurant recently and it was a much different experience. Very good food, friendly staff and a good time overall. Met the general manager and he apologized for my previous experience.

Prepaid Reservation Fee

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
