I enjoy going to 5 Napkin Burger.
They have a good selection and the burgers are always cooked to perfection. I have always received good service. The restaurant seems to be well managed.
Be the first to ReplyI always visit this place when in the area.
The garlic rosemary aioli, the perfectly caramelized onions, bakery fresh bun... every little detail is just right here. Best in New York. To me it's pure luxury. Because it's fine dining you can do wearing jogging pants and nobody will judge you for it.

Great American restaurant with tasty burgers and other American classics. I ordered the Truffle Burger ($19.50), which was very high quality- cooked to a nice medium as requested, with perfectly melted white American cheese. The mushrooms were tender and good, and there were also some nice crispy chips in there to add some crunch. There was not that much of a truffle flavor though. The price is a bit elevated for a burger, but I suppose that's what a lot of other higher end American restaurants are charging too.In addition to the burger, I ordered a Cookies n' Cream Shake ($9 for a non-boozy version), which was delicious. It was thick (in a good way) but still creamy and easy to drink with a straw. There were lots of tiny cookie bits in there, with classic whipped cream and a cherry on top.The place has a classic nice American restaurant kind of vibe. It is pretty large with lots of seating, although very busy and lively even on a weeknight. Despite this, we were able to get a table with no reservation (probably would need to get a reservation or wait on a weekend day though). The staff are friendly and attentive, and the service speed was pretty good.Overall, 5 Napkin Burger is a solid option for quality American classics. It seems to always be very busy around dinnertime, and rightfully so.

Vegetarian delight! Sure, it's fake meat on a bun with a side of fries, but it's really tasty and not outrageously priced. The decor is former butcher shop, complete with meat hooks holding up the lights. The staff was friendly and very accommodating of our theater schedule. We had impossible burgers and crispy vegan chicken sandwiches. Everyone left happy and full.
Be the first to ReplyFood was decent for hell's kitchen and service was alright.
Food came out fast, only issue was there was a waiter who was wandering around yelling at other waiters if they were racist. It made my table and a couple others visibly uncomfortable.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food.
Great service. Took my kids and we enjoyed the delicious burgers and ranch chicken and red velvet shake celebrating Vday. Cool ambiance as well. Will come again.

Me and my partner went for our anniversary hoping for great food that looked like the photos. One of us ordered skirt steak and received a random cut of steak that was fatty, tough, and had no flavor. When we confronted the waiter their response was "that's the good part" which was just outrageous in my opinion especially for a $34 steak. We also ordered chicken and waffles coming to find super dark fried chicken that had no flavor either, while it looked nice on the inside of the place the food was quite the opposite. Definitely wouldn't go again if we're going to be blatantly lied to about a cut of steak and given bland food for over $80. !!!!!Do not recommend!!!!!

The food was really good and very very filling! Definitely a burger joint so make sure your stomach is empty before you go. The fries were freshly made and delicious. Worth coming back for desserts and drinks. 2 for 1 mimosas is a must.

The onion ring tower was pretty good! However, I was disappointed in the 5 napkin burger. It wasn't that flavorful and didn't have that much sauce. The carmelized onions were WAY too sweet! And it was pretty over priced from what I remember. Two of the people dining with me ended up getting food poisoning - we are not sure if it was from this place or a pizza place - but it's not worth coming back.
Be the first to ReplyFriendly staff, good food, great drinks.
I'll definitely be returning and bringing friends and family along.

Yummm we were in the mood for a thick burger and were cautiously optimistic that 5 Napkin would be good, given that it's in a very touristy area near Times Square. But we were pleasantly surprised overall! We started with the Onion Ring Tower, which was deliciously crispy. I love onion rings with ranch, and it took a while to get that. Had to flag down a couple different employees to finally get the ranch. We ordered the Truffle and 5 Napkin Burger. I definitely preferred the Truffle because it had these delicious crispy shallots. Yes these burgers are kinda pricey, but they're big and tasty. They have some great happy hour deals so I'd come back for that next time!
Be the first to ReplyI do not understand why people keep coming here.
Okay ... in their defense (the people's not the restaurant's), Five Napkin is literally located on the most desirable and business corner in Hells Kitchen. So, I'm not sure that people keep coming here for the food as much as the convenience. Either that or they've had so much to drink that they don't remember how bad the food actually is. I used to (only under dire duress and a lack of time to find some where else) go to the location by Union Square. That was just awful. And they've since (understandably) closed. But I thought maybe this location seeing how busy it is would be better, despite an ill-fitted visit three years ago. (See hubby's review below this)On this occasion I ordered take out because I was craving a burger and my husband ordered from the restaurant next door. One, HOW HARD IS IT TO GET THE TEMP and the CHEESE on the order correct? Especially when the person who took the order allegedly checked to make sure. I LOATHE the cheese they used which was NOT the blue cheese I asked for and paid for. I also asked for a burger cooked RARE. What I got was a well done burger with mozzarella or something. And the crinkly fries (my favorite kind) were soggy, undercooked and disgusting. But I was already home when I discovered this and ended up just packing it and giving it out to a homeless man we often help. With so many good burger places in the city, this one should be skipped and will be from here on out.

Wow so good! Perfect after show snack and treat!Perfect spot for drinks and open until 11:30 ( wish open later) worth it! Loved the milkshake and spinach and artichoke dip. Also great Tuna Poke app. Definitely recommend! Includes vegan markings on the menu and easy ask of the server for gluten free!

We needed a quick dinner after flying into NYC before a show. On a friend's recommendation we went here. We both got the 5 napkin burger (how could we not) which was cooked perfectly and was a nice quality of meat. Service was friendly.
Be the first to ReplyService very slow , lots of wait staff standing around.
Napkin is a rag , they should not be using. Food was mediocre.

I used to Love this place and always order the tuna burger which was delicious, pretty sad not to see it on the manu anymore. They also have nice vegetarian options which is great if someone at your table prefer not to eat meat.
Be the first to Reply5 napkin has some of the best burgers I have ever had.
I would describe this place as a burger joint elevated. The same comfort and deliciousness you expect from the hole in the wall burger joint that has killer burgers meets a comfortable, modern setting perfect for a weekend meal with a partner or friends. I have not had a burger here that was anything less than delicious. I have yet to try one of their shakes but have envied them from across the room (they look amazing). I would recommend making a reservation, especially for supper/weekends, this place is very popular!
Be the first to ReplyI really like the Hells Kitchen location.
By the way you don't need to order via an app or QR code anymore. It's very nice inside and a real step up from going to a diner. They are doing brunch menu again and all week now. That means they have their slab bacon and three eggs with hash browns back, comes with toast and currently $14.99 I think. They have changed that it used to come with a toasted brioche role rather than the current toast but I happy with either. They have stopped doing poached eggs as "it takes too long".. Boo! If you are having a burger things are going to work out more expensive, a burger alone is about $17.99 but gigantic and filling. I often add the onion ring tower to that at $9.99 because it's better value that the onion ring side or the fries. So coffee, posh burger, onion ring tower with the tax and tip is going to work out in the region of $40 but you won't want to eat again for a long time. I used to go here every weekend for the breakfast and the staff were friendly. Most of the people I recognized have left now but everyone is very professional.

Stumbled across 5 Napkin and glad we did! Had appys (that was our dinner) and drinks. Sat at bar and got excellent service! Place was full so happy we got 2 seats. Happy hour was until 6 and we arrived 5:50 so we quickly ordered three 1/2 priced appetizers. Spinach artichoke dip was great! Loaded fries and boneless fried chicken also good. They carefully measured 1 shot per drink - a tad disappointing but overall we loved our visit ! Good food and drink without breaking the bank in such a cute area.

Me and my spouse came for dinner around 8pm this place was popping but we didn't wait very long to be seated. The service was slow. It took over an hour from start to finish for just order or burger. After we finished dinner it took a long time to get out waitress attention to get our bill. At one point the waitress just sat down Next to our table and talk to them for a straight up 5mins leaving other customers hanging, and the table on the other side of us were waiting for their food that was late. The burger itself is mediocre, I had better burgers elsewhere and doesn't even cost as much. Very disappointed at the quality of food and service received, was expecting much better.
Be the first to ReplyHello Yelpers: thank you for reading.
My Boyfriend and I ended up at 5 Napkin because our first choice was unavailable (that was our fault). This was our Valentines Day night dinner. It was SO cold out we just made a decision to go in. They seated us quickly in a booth after checking our vax status. The waiter came over in a timely manner and took our orders. I had the Mule cocktail, which honestly was not that interesting. It tasted very, very heavy of ginger but not a lot of alcohol. My BF had a Sam Adams. I had the patty melt and he had the cheese burger. We both commented both silently and out loud how small the burgers were. I thought mine was served on a half slice of bread. Anyway, while very small, the burgers were very tasty. We both also ordered a small order of onion rings, which while incredibly greasy, were also yummy. So then we realized that they did not figure out their wintertime door situation! Every time the door opened, an ice cold arctic blast froze us. They had a plastic draft door outside but it was totally ineffective. NOW, my real issue is with my second drink. I ordered the frozen watermelon margarita with black lava salt. What do I get? The drink (which was super tiny) with no salt. Why do places bother advertising drinks like this at premium prices if they aren't going to serve them? Anyway, I sent my drink back and it was returned to me not with a salt rim but with a patch of salt that looked like a hairy bush! I can't help but think that was done on purpose because it was late and they were closing and wanted everyone out. I can't imagine that's how they serve it! Anyway they lost a star cause we had to ask three times for a to go bag for my onion rings that I didn't finish. I get it, you are closing , but we weren't making a point of overstaying, it just took us xyz to get to point a then b. We would probably go back at some point if we were around again but we wouldn't go looking for this place.
