71Above Los Angeles Reviews from The Last Year
That view
This is an amazing restaurant with 360 draw dropping views. this is matched with great attentive service with a good menu. Worth going as the sunsets as this makes it even better.
A Memory in the Experience.
This is a beautiful experience from the personal staff and the view of the city to start with. The three course options were all excellent. You will make a special memory with this experience.
there are better restaurants with views
I was upset... I attended dinner with my sister and her husband for my sister birthday and I was surprised at how rude the bartender with the bird nose was to my sister and her husband. They were trying to take photos and the bartended kept intentionally getting in her photos. Not only that, she was laughing and telling her co worker that she was doing it on purpose!! - HOW RUDE!? Why would you try to sabotage someone's experience at a restaurant with a view? How unprofessional.. why do you work there ? We were gifted with a photo we received at dinner and left it behind by mistake, I called that night and they don't answer their phones, you have to email them. I called and emailed the next day and was told they did not have my art work. So they tossed it out? they didn't even give me a chance to come back and get my gift. So, what is the policy on lost and found because we never took it from the restaurant. I was very disappointed in the food taste as well.. $100 pre course meal but I think they could have made more flavorful entrees for the money.. you basically pay for the view but the workers like the try and ruin that for you.. so be mindful when booking here.. my server was great. guy from Boston (i think) but we he never came back to our table at the end of the night. never dismissed himself so we didn't say bye.. idk i expected more.
Not worth it
The only redeeming attribute of this place is the view. The rest is a disaster. Superficial staff (Did not care about that I was not happy with my meal) and the food was simply so poor that a regular McDonalds burger would be much preferred. The price level is atrocious and they even automatically add a 28% "service charge" before tax to the bill and the payment system then asks for an additional tip. Very sad, as the location is great and they turned it into a tourist trap, probably with severely underpaid staff.
It was the most spectacular dinner I've ever had but ended
It was the most spectacular dinner I've ever had but ended up being the most painful and sickening nights of my life. Ended up getting food poisoning after eating here... attempted to reach out to restaurant but was routed to managements voicemail. very unfortunate to have resulted in this
Went back for my birthday.
The food is one of the best I've ever had! Yes! They couldn't give us a window table even though we requested it in advanced. The manager wasn't helpful and he seemed confused but besides that, service, food, desserts and everything we ordered was just delicious. There valet for $15 but a few meter across the street. Beautiful view even at night time. Tasty drinks, try the Ruby, I usually don't order chicken at restaurants but try their chicken!! And the octopus is the best... Dress code is kinda formal.
Fancy 3 course restaurant.
Almost a $100 a person. Fear of heights?... then you might want to really think about coming here. This place is way up top. Ears even pop Drinks were amazing 10/10 Food 9/10 Service 8/10 If the food doesn't look appealing, just give it a try. I always encourage trying new places and things. Overall, this was a great experience. Our server was excellent + they I formed us on th food we were having, such as Ingredients. W were also asked if anyone was allergic to anything
My husband and I chose this place for a ur anniversary
My husband and I chose this place for a ur anniversary dinner. Great choice. Food was amazing! We had a 3 course meal. Service was great. Beautiful view. We had the asparagus salad shrimp for the first course the shrimp was AMAZINGGG. For our second course we had the grilled rib eye, young chicken and added the pork loin to try also. They were all great but the grilled rib eye was sooo yummy. The sauce was so tasty! The desert was phenomenal. It was a pecan ice cream with like a shaved ice orange sherbet and crumbles. Oh I have to say I had the best virgin mojito because I'm Preg couldn't have alcohol but it was still sooo gooood. I'll def go back.
First of all 71 Above has an excellent view, and is a dimly
First of all 71 Above has an excellent view, and is a dimly lit swanky restaurant. The staff are always very friendly and accommodating. I work in the building and our team often has happy hour and it's convenient to go up to the restaurant for a drink. The drinks are always good, but the restaurant lacks small bites, and a happy hour vibe all together. I would think it would benefit to have some happy hour specials, and at least a charcuterie plate. We ordered the cheese plate, and it was the saddest cheese plate we ever saw. Definitely not worth the cost. A few small bites of some random cheese with a couple nits and some honey. I'd say go for a fancy dinner, or for the view, but there are many other options if you're looking for a good vibe with good drinks/snacks.
Pretty cool.
Bread is overpriced though, imo. Cool views and swanky drinks lol. Overall not bad. Service wasn't the best, waited for 30 mins to be seated when I had already reserved the table and was on time. #awkward. Just sitting tat the bar being bored a whole half hour
Been here twice , first time before covid .
Ambiance before covid was better. However . Food this time was better . I hate they took away the rooftop bar. And the scenic view that lets you lean and overlook the city. Such a beautiful thing they took away. However, the service was impeccable and the food was WAY better this time. The window view we had was amazing and motivating . All 3 course meal items hit the spot. I got Octopus Ribeye Carrot cake Ice cream yogurt vibe. All great choices and i had a basil hayden on a rock . simply amazing. I will be back! Would leave 5stars however such a condensed menu and sucks they changed everything from the rooftop vibes and the scenic "lean overlook" thats similar to rollercoaster vibes. Take an elevator thats see through and see the entire city . Feel like those kinds of things people come back for and tell their friends about. Ill leave 5stars because honestly the server was amazing and he was spot on with his recommendations .
First time at 71 Above and it did not disappoint - The view
First time at 71 Above and it did not disappoint - The view of DTLA is amazing. I enjoyed the elevator rides. For food, we got the 3-course meal at $98/each, bread service, and some cocktails. + Bread service 3/5: Looking back, the bread wasn't anything special and I couldn't tell a difference between regular butter and cultured butter. + Bluefin tuna crudo 4/5: Refreshing appetizer with fresh tuna. + Nori bucatini pasta 4/5: Interesting Japanese/Italian fusion. Caught me off guard but I didn't hate it. + Grilled ribeye 4/5: Ribeye was cooked perfectly - Juicy and well-seasoned. Definitely an Asian spin too with the gai lan and oyster sauce vinaigrette. +Spiced carrot granita and chai poached pears 1/5: Dessert wasn't doing it for me. They both sounded tasty on paper but actual taste was lacking significantly. Overall, I was glad to finally checkout 71 Above. I thought food was mostly decent except for dessert.
The ambiance is beautiful.
Ask for a window seat when you make directions for best views. The deserts were a bit strange tasting but all the courses were great. Delicious and beautifully displayed. Fabulous spot. We will be back.
Great food, astounding atmosphere and probably the best
Great food, astounding atmosphere and probably the best view in LA. Huge wine selection is plus.
Experience not to be had
There were three of us for New Year's Eve dinner, the view was breathtaking, the octopus was frozen and reheated so it felt like eating the sole of leather shoes, the salmon went to whoever saw it, priced at 250 dollars for three 750 they put mandatory tips and taxes, which is not noted in the reservation, total 989 dollars for not eating anything
Nice place with view, poor management and treatment (biased/racial)
The restaurant has so much to offer being on the 71st floor but it is being mismanaged or not being used to its full potential. 1. Reservation must have a selection of seats so there is no guess that someone going there for a city view experience will be disappointed. 2. The restaurant can charge an additional surcharge for window seats and solve the issue but unfortunately, this is left to the managers' and ushers' mercy. 3. Food is okay/unique not value for money but it is for the view you go there not so much for the food experience. 4. Wait staff are good but not very courteous or have an interest in being extra elegant because the 18% gratuity is already billed and so get their tip anyway so they have that care not attitude. 5. While entering the building or restaurant good help or people are leading you up to the table, once you finish dinner they don't care and don't even show customers how to go down to the lobby (the elevator panel is weird). NOW MY EXPERIENCE: Reserved a table for 4 and when I got there they gave me middle-row seating, there was another family that was sitting at the window but left just after we sat down. I requested the waitress to shift me to the window table but she said sorry our manager is not allowing it. We continued our dinner and another family was given the table and the family next to us left before us then I noticed that there were two gentlemen already sitting at another table but were moved to that table which I asked for. This was very humiliating for me and went up to the manager and told him that this was unfair treatment he was adamant that it was based on a first come first serve basis but the guys already sat at another table like us but were moved to that table, the manager did not have a good reason and kept blabbering. I told him that it was still UNFAIR and left the place. My recommendation is there are other elegant places better service and experience.
Sneaky management
We ordered a couple of appetizers and a glass of wine… the bartender showed us a bottle of wine never mentioned that the wine we had ordered they didn’t have and he chose to give us another wine that was 10X more expensive and never mentioned it… at the end we were stuck with $130.00 for two glasses of wine. We explained the situation but didn’t help. Won’t go back again
Great sunset and margarita
The menu at the restaurant has 3 dishes and it was definitely not for my 8 years old son: they were so kind to allow us just one dish so we could enjoy sunset and have a fantastic margarita but we were not obliged to do a full menu (I would have done it if we were only adults!€
Good for a special occasion.
The first thing you notice is that you must take two elevators to get to the restaurant. While the view may be nice, if it is even a bit misty you essentially see clouds. But, while they advertise the view, the food and ambiance are why you really are here. Service was perfect, very attentive, and they let us sit and talk after dinner without ever rushing us. We both enjoyed each of the courses a lot, surprisingly so. While the prices are not exactly cheap, some of the "extras" (like $7 for bread and $6 if you want a cheese platter) seemed silly. Come on, how much can bread cost? Our observation is that this is a place for a nice date and special occasions (there were at least two wedding proposals in the few hours we were there). The only downside, aside from $7 for bread, is that, as the night wore on, the music got louder, sometimes making talking a bit challenging. Otherwise, a great place.
So worth it! High-quality, well-balanced dishes with a great view
Excellent excellent quality. The chefs know what they’re doing. Each dish was complex yet well-balanced in flavor with great presentation. Both service and atmosphere were wonderful as well. Would definitely take friends and family here. The building interior is beautiful. Came here on a Thursday in mid June and was able to find street parking. Heard parking behind the building was $10. And valet is $15. $95 a person for a three-course meal. Window seating is walk-in only. Some people waited at the bar for an hour for a spot to open up.

Hi, I have a reservation to Nobu Malibu, but since they don't do text or e-mail confirmations I haven't been able to get my reservation posted. I have posted a screen shot of the phone conversation on the listing, but it keeps getting rejected. If anyone has an idea how I can get it approved that would be much appreciated, thanks!

Write a note with the Name of the restaurant, Name on reservation, day/time/number of people, your phone number. Then on the bottom wrote “confirmed by phone”. Screenshot it and submit.
