Acanto Chicago Reviews from The Last Year
Good choice for a Italian
And Italian american nice restaurant. The food is very tasty and surprising. We had pasta and the side of califlower is wonderful.
Delicious meal, a must do on next visit
The food was delicious and memorable, had the pistachio gnocchi, which was just noteworthy!!! Also had the mushroom pappardelle, very good. Drinks were great, and seating outside was the perfect atmosphere. Would highly recommend!!!
A gem
What a find! An intimate space with highly attentive waitstaff and wonderful food. We ate before an afternoon symphony performance and they were cognizant of the time.
Let's start with the gnocchi because it is the single
Let's start with the gnocchi because it is the single greatest pasta I've ever tasted. The meatball bucatini was delicious and so was the lobster fusilli but wow the gnocchi was TO DIE FOR. Our server was so sweet and kind. The food was 10/10. We needed to make our reservation 6 weeks in advance and there was one time slot for us so if you're planning a trip to Chicago plan ahead but it was so worth it. Incredible food.
Beautiful, comfortable and quiet, with great food and great
Beautiful, comfortable and quiet, with great food and great drinks, reasonably priced. The summertime patio along Michigan Avenue is outstanding. Service is always attentive and professional. An excellent experience.
Chaka our server was incredible.
We only managed to take the appetizer picture because everything else flew out the plate when it came to our table. The cocktails were incredible. Great wine pairing with dishes at reasonable prices. And their homemade ice creams and sorbets are a must! Best vanilla ice cream in United States IMHO. Both indoor and outdoor seatings are great. We ate here on Friday and came back on Sunday for more!
Wonderful
Sometimes you have a dinner that is worth the time and money, this was it. The food was wonderful from start to finish. The arancini , gorgonzola salad and gnocchi were outstanding. Service was excellent, overall just a great dinner!
This is the lobster ink fusilli and it was phenomenal.
I was initially apprehensive but it was very good. Nice restaurant as well.
Best meal I have ever had!
My daughter and I ate here after seeing a Broadway show. After asking some questions from our very helpful server, we chose to share everything we ordered. We had the Pear and gorgonzola salad, the Arancini (fried tomato risotto with mozzarella and basil pesto aoli), Gnocchi al Forno (ricotta gnocchi, roasted squash, butternut cream, parmigiano, rosemary, pepita crumble), and the Chicken Picatta. From start to finish we loved everything. The Gnocchi and the Arancini are something super special, but honestly this was the best meal I have ever had in my 48 years. If it would have been appropriate, I world have licked my plate clean.
We love Acanto and I was so excited to take out of towner's
We love Acanto and I was so excited to take out of towner's here! To start, they have an extensive wine list and a perfectly creamy and balanced espresso martini. The arancini and bread service are a must - fritto misto is a little skimpy for the price but tastes delicious! Lobster fusilli and agnolotti were delicious. The highlight of the table was surely the bucatini and meatballs; such an amazing take on a classic. Simple yet so good. Last, Acanto has a great tiramisu and chocolate cake. Everyone enjoyed and we had a great night! Love visiting whenever we get a chance :)
Great atmosphere.
The staff were wonderful and knowledgeable of the menu to make recommendations. I had a birthday surprise afterwards and the waitress worked with me to make the night wonderful for my girlfriend.
This place has a really cool ambiance and was just buzzing.
We didn't make a reservation, which I would highly recommend, but they had a very nice heated outdoor area for overflow. This was comfortable but not inclusive in the great atmosphere I side, which was a bummer to miss out on. The starters were amazing. I had the Fritto misto, shrimp, and olives. My husband chose the burrata from the Chicago week menu. That was a fix prix menu and was a really lovely deal. I had the risotto of the day with scallops a d the scallops were perfection, but the risotto was so salty I couldn't eat it. The brazzino and fennel on my hubbys deal was superb, as was the brownie martini, which was presented artfully and tasted delicioso. The quartz table edge was filthy, please wash those alo g with the tops. Lose a star for this and the salty risotto. I did enjoy the experience.
Came here for Chicago Restaurant Week 2024 and the CRW
Came here for Chicago Restaurant Week 2024 and the CRW lunch menu was delicious and definitely worth trying out for $25. The burrata was creamy and paired well with the accompanying roasted beets and bright notes of citrus. The toast was a bit too hard for me but otherwise, the burrata was a great first course. The fritto misto was fantastic as well and the fried olives were a nice surprise (the person who decided to fry a castelvetrano olive is a genius). The second course options were good as well but let me continue on and highlight the panna cotta. OH MY. This dessert was 10/10 - I highly recommend trying this over the other dessert option (zuppa inglese). The panna cotta was creamy with a nice balance of rich chocolate-y goodness and crunchy bits and pieces of sponge cake. Definitely one of those dishes that elicit sounds of contentment. Overall, loved the cozy vibes of Acanto and the service was good as well. The spot is ideal as well if you're ever in the Loop area.
I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant.
I came here for dinner with my boyfriend after getting drinks at Cindy's and the food was absolutely incredible. Every single thing we ate was perfect and the dessert was the best thing I've ever tasted. Our waitress was kind and very helpful with our menu selections. The restaurant is cozy, low lights, indoor and outdoor seating. You can't beat it. We will absolutely return when we are back in Chicago.
We had an incredible time at Acanto for dinner last week.
I can't recommend it more! Acanto truly has it all: *Amazing location right in the heart of the Loop directly across from Millennium Park, also close to both the L, Metra, and parking garages *Gorgeous romantic interior! PERFECT for date night. The real lit candlesticks on each table definitely added to the intimate ambiance. *High quality ingredients *Thoughtful menu items from appetizers to dessert *Attentive service *Zero proof cocktail options *Option to pay via QR code if you want to expedite leaving Truly every menu item we ate was delicious, but my personal favorite standouts were the fritto misto, wild striped bass (the beluga lentils were SO flavorful and truly just like caviar), and flourless chocolate cake. I was also super impressed by the tea! Rare Tea Cellar loose leaf tea in a little kettle. The tea and cappuccino my husband ordered came with a little biscotti. A great touch! I can't wait to return!
5
Overall is definitely a five. We had good service and relatively good turnaround time, perfectly enjoyable atmosphere with street seating even though it was cold outside it was warm with the covering they had. I had the cannelloni and it was outstanding. Our appetizer was a lukewarm it could've been hotter. It was the Busconi with mushrooms.
Super Italian food.
Fantastic very very tasty Italian food. The Risotto was wooooow. Fairly priced for Chicago. Excellent service. Would definitely go back.
Great Dining Experience.
The Acanto Restaurant was excellent. The food was outstanding and the cocktails were excellent. The service was awesome. A very good dining experience. Thank You Acanto!
Good food and service.
Interesting place, good atmosphere, good service, and a quite varied menu. It's quite close to Symphony Hall so a good choice for concert-goers, which we were.
Good, good, good!
Wednesday night and the place was really busy! It was noisy, but not so much so that we couldn’t talk. Service was excellent!! Wine steward brought us a bottle of wine and I noticed it smelled a tint bit odd. He sniffed the cork, took the bottle and our glasses and replaced everything. The food was delicious. The fresh made pasta was terrific. Definitely a very good restaurant.

It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
