The quick: it looks good.
Taste is another thing. They need to have an exercise in increasing their awareness of their dishes & make sure they try their dishes. They will give you 8 courses 3 are great 2 are bad & the other 3 are decent. One dish that they were serving was a tomato round - with some sort of gelatin, with blue cheese on top. The tomato was overpowered by the taste and smell of formaldehyde. It tasted the way a dissected animal smelled, any one in healthcare might have a similar adverse reaction. The steak tartar was poorly executed - and might be what gave my wife stomach troubles later. The fish dish was great, the beet dish was excellent. The lamb skewer was great. They have a long ways to go to be charging for a product that is immature, or inconsistent and not yet fully developed. Ambiance was decent - there was a massive lag between dishes that typically doesn't happen between most Michelin rated restaurants. Some good - some horrible - some ok. Would I pay for this again? Absolutely not. Not trying to be mean - but they seriously need to increase their self awareness and improve their standards. Update: my wife & I got food poisoning- the steak tartare was low quality... debating on what to do. Such a waste and ruined a whole weekend beyond the dining experience

I try to do at least one high end restaurant on a trip and I did a lot of research that led me to making a reservation at Aizle. I'm not high brow at all, in fact I've made a kind of prejudicial assessment (not mean spirited at all, btw) of people who eat at places like this. There's the rich who find it be just a place to eat, the upper middle who like to brag they can eat at places like this (and are always the loudest people in the room), the people who save up to have an experience and chefs/hospitality workers who want to experience another's cooking/service. I fit into the last two categories and believe me I saw the other categories in this restaurant. I was worried that it would be too high brow, given it's location and the price point but I was surely surprised at how casual the service and décor was. Casual or not, the service was pristine and I was impressed with everyone who worked here. And even though the ambiance was casual, with the garden/outdoor furniture theme, the room was gorgeous and well appointed. We were sat at a lovers bench facing the restaurant and I loved it. It felt super special and like an experience. Then the food started coming out and I was even more impressed. These dishes are plated like works of art and I promise you, pictures cannot do them justice. The menu changes as the weather/availability does so when you go the same items may not be on the menu but let me tell you, the skewers of lamb with mushroom broth were TO DIE FOR. It's been almost a week since we've dined here and I cannot stop thinking about them. I have a feeling it will take me years to get over how delicious that bite of food was. The tasting menu is extensive and you will be fairly full at the end. We did opt for some of the options like the wine pairing and the cheese plate and pairing so we may have been a bit more full but it was worth every penny. This experience is one that shouldn't be missed. Highly recommended.

This was a dining experience! I have never done this type of dinner before, and it was fantastic. The staff were super nice and the food was incredible. There were so many courses, but they left plenty of room in between so we didn't feel overwhelmed, even though we got so full. It was a memorable evening!
Be the first to ReplyHigh end food.
It's expensive but the experience is terrific. It's a fixed multi course menu & they do soda or wine pairings. The presentation was artistic and beautiful.
Be the first to ReplyBest dining experience of my life.
The service was just fantastic, and everyone was very welcoming and kind. The vibe was laid back and overall just an amazing meal. The food...it's hard to even describe. I'm a vegetarian and also avoid rennet and they were very accommodating with my dietary requests. The presentation of the food was so unique and frankly just beautiful. The flavors were stunning, unique, and beautifully balanced. We also got the wine pairings with each course and the sommelier was lovely, explaining to us all about the different wines and tasting notes. Also, we booked for our honeymoon and they were so nice and made it very special for us. Would recommend whole-heartedly to anyone. Worth it!

Such an impeccable dining experience- the flavors were phenomenal, the presentation was innovative, the wine pairings were incredible - and the birthday touches and service were outstanding! Such a great experience!!
Be the first to ReplyI enjoyed dinner at Aizle my first night in Edinburgh.
I had a made a booking in advance and was really looking forward to this experience.Service was wonderful, and each and every item that was presented to me was both visually stunning and scrumptious.I had every intention of trying this restaurant in March of 2020 when the world shut down, and my plans had to be canceled. I was then scheduled to be in Edinburgh in January and Aizle was going to be closed on the dates I was in town, when that got rescheduled and they were open I knew it was meant to be.I had an early booking and the place really filled in. My table was perfect, and although each separate presentation was small in portion size - I was completely satisfied by the conclusion of the tasting menu. If you are looking for a truly outstanding and classy dinner to remember, either solo, for a date, or a business occasion I'd highly recommend Aizle. You'll be hard pressed to find any meal presented as beautifully and delectable as the tasting menu here.

We want to try one tasting menu in Edinburgh, where we were visiting for a week. Very happy with our decision to go to Aizle. What I really liked about this place was they listed all the ingredients used in crafting the menu. It changes with every season, I imagine. So you're in for a bit of a surprise and we really liked that. You can let the server know of allergies, lucky me, I just have a mild lactose intolerance (can't take soft cheeses, only low lactose parmesan). They used goat milk which is lower lactose than cows milk. They only take reservations, and there was nothing available after 6pm, because it was all booked up. The place was very nice, ambient, and had an outdoor feeling because of its glass covered ceiling. So you get a ton of light during the day. Service was excellent. Impeccable service. One of the best meals I've had in a long time. Each dish was so unique and flavours just bursted in my mouth. If I lived here, I'd be going here every time they get a new list of ingredients. The cuisine is a mix of Scottish inspired fusion. More fusion than Scottish though, but that is fine by me!I'd definitely return the next time I come to Edinburgh.
Be the first to ReplyA truly beautiful and relaxing dining experience.
We had a very special meal and everything was flawlessly prepared, artistically presented and graciously served. You are offer wine pairing and soda pairing. I love this and plan to try it if I am lucky enough for another visit.A few standouts for me would be the crispy succulent scallop. Maybe the finest scallop I have ever had. They served a mushroom soup ( this sounds too pedestrian for the amazing dish) of Parmesan with mushrooms and tiny croutons. It's the kind of dish that on first taste, everyone at the table sighs simultaneously. The idea of being served a pre-dessert has become the only way I can imagine having dinner. I can't go back to just one dessert. Our pre-dessert was light and refreshing with icy flakes and mousse to prepare for the rich chocolate concoction of the almost final dessert. A beautiful plate of chocolates and treats were packed up for us because by this point we could barely move. It was a remarkable experience that will be remembered forever.Try to visit this beautiful whimsical place. You'll be thrilled.

Prior to my trip to Edinburgh, I decided to research what restaurants were the best in the city that served Scottish food. It was one of my good friend's birthday and I wanted to take her out to a nice dinner. A few popped up, one of them being Aizle. Aizle is defined as a spark or a glowing hot ember in the Scottish language. The restaurant encompasses local, seasonal ingredients where everything is made in house. As ingredients change, so does the menu consisting of a set 6 courses at 55 pounds per person.Upon entering Aizle, you are enlightened by the warm decor the restaurant brings to its atmosphere. A menu of ingredients used for the meal is displayed on one of the walls at the entrance. The waiters and staff were oh so welcoming among the candlelit tables. As we were seated, we were greeted with some snacks to start and advised that the menu would be presented at the end of the meal. So without any knowledge of what would be presented before us other than the ingredients used to create the menu, we were set on a journey of Scottish cuisine:SNACK: CHEDDAR CORNETTO. MOUNREYAC PEARSNACK: DUCK LEG. KIMCHI. SNACK: MUSHROOM CHAWANMUSHI, JERUSALEM ARTICHOKE, PARMESAN. MY FAVORITE: COURSE ONE: SHEEP'S MILK AGNOLOTTI, WILD LEEK, WHEY. BREAD: CONFIT CHICKEN, BRIOCHE BUN, TRUFFLE. COURSE TWO: COD, CELERIAC, GRAPES. COURSE THREE: PEKING DUCK, HERITAGE CARROT, SANCHO, BUCKWHEAT. Sorry, I ended up eating this before I took the picture. IT was delicious though and the duck was cooked perfectly! COURSE FOUR: GRANNY SMITH APPLE, WHITE CHOCOLATE. COURSE FIVE: YORKSHIRE RHUBARB, HIBISCUS, SCOTTISH OATS. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Aizle. Some dishes took some time to be delivered to our table in between courses, but they were all beautifully executed. My favorite was the pasta dish: pillowy soft pasta filled with deliciously creamy cheese with a light broth to accompany the dish. It was wonderful in its own right. The staff were on point with catering to our needs and after a 2.5-3 hour meal, my friend and I left happy with a full tummy.

We had a wonderful meal of 9 total portions along with the wine pairing. Although it was expensive, it was a good value and great finale to our time in Edinburgh.
Be the first to ReplyA fantastic dining experience tucked away at the south end
A fantastic dining experience tucked away at the south end of town. I had made reservations weeks ago and was so glad I did, and they also mentioned they knew we were vegetarians which I was delighted about, having entered that in my info. We didn't opt for the wine pairing but did see others enjoying it. The food and the service were both stellar. The "snacks" to start were amazing, my favorite being the leek soup with charcoal you have to crack at the top, and really all the dishes were great and well thought out. We had a terrific egg and corn succotash, their own sourdough with salted butter and then two desserts- I could barely finish everything! A feast for both the stomach and the eyes, I don't want to even write more about the food as half the fun is going to dine and not know exactly what you'll get. Highly recommend if you're in town!

Hands down the best meal of the whole UK trip, which included stops in London and Paris. Wonderfully prepared tasting menu, with seasonal ingredients and flavors and textures that blew my mind. Great low key, yet classy ambience with impeccable service. Drinks were on point as well. Highly highly recommend!!!

I came here to dine alone on my trip and it was a perfect experience. They dont have a menu but just a list of ingredients that they will incorporate into your dishes. If you give them advance notice they will accommodate any dietary restrictions. Every dish was delicious and well-thought-out. Friendly service and amazing drinks (try the strawberry one!). If you come to Edinburgh you have to eat here :)
Be the first to ReplyThis place is pretty awesome.
Price fixed meal with the ingredients on a chalk board for all the courses. It was fun looking at the ingredients and guessing what would show up at your table for the next course. My wife and I made a game out of it of what we bet would come next. The lemonade soda (homemade) was delicious too. At 45 pounds a pop - probably one of the best and most inexpensive high-end meals I've had.
