What a wonderful surprise! I thought that this was a sandwich shop. However, under the recommendation of a friend my family and I went last Wednesday for lunch. We had a baby and a toddler in addition to four adults. Our server,Sierra, was the most professional, efficient and pleasant person we've had in a long time. The food was delicious. All of us were pleased. My fish was so fresh and flavorful that I sent a message to the chef. Normally I don't have dessert but this experience was different. I had a berry tart made by the owner that was festive looking, crisp, and sweet enough. I've already texted some friends and invited them to this fantastic place .
Be the first to ReplyTerrible service with a smile.
It's almost irrelevant reviewing whether the food is good, bad, or mediocre because by the time you get it you're sick to your stomach and will have lost your appetite. Ambiance? If you like feeling like you're inconveniencing a restaurant by eating at their establishment then you'll love the ambience, which is flinty, New England crabbiness with an occasional smile from the one nice person working there.A waste of time, money, space, food - just a terrible waste of an opportunity. How pathetic to have such a lovely location only to treat patrons like you wish they would go some where else.Avoid at all costs.
Be the first to ReplyWhat an absolutely horrible experience.
We've lived in town here for many years and have gone here routinely. Today we had a miserable experience because a waitress became overwhelmed with the crowd and then treated us with total disrespect. We ordered. We waited. She brought us drinks and the soda machine was full obviously messed up because the Diet Coke tasted like carbonated water. I tried for 20 mins to get her attention and she ignored us. Then, 42 minutes after we ordered, I walked over to the counter and simply asked our waitress if she knew how much longer it would be. This is when things went downhill. She replied "I have no idea" and "it's not my job to know that it's the kitchens". Wow. I simply asked if she could check and she got very snippy saying sit was really busy. She walked over to the kitchen and all I heard coming out of the kitchen was a flurry of F-bombs and S-granades! Then, she picked up a salad and walked by me without looking at me and muttered "salmon will be done shortly". She delivered the salad to my wife at the table and didn't say anything and shot her a filthy look. She just walked away without deliver any utensils or responding to my wife's request for some. She abruptly walked by me and I asked if I could chat with the manager and she said "we don't have one" and walked away. Then I asked her again and she pointed me to another person in the restaurant. When I went to the other person, who was actually quite nice, she said that she wasn't the manager but one would be back later in the afternoon. The original waitress started griping to me about how slammed they were and how I don't understand her job. Her filthy looks and her attitude drove me to go back to my table and get my wife and 2 kids and leave. I said to the other waitress ti give me my check for the soda, iced tea, and the salad and she told me it was fine and we should leave if we want to. We left. What a waste. What a horrible experience at a place that usually does a good job. I've met the manager/owner before and she is very very nice. The issue is with waitstaff and how obnoxious they have been. The person today was ruder to me than anyone has been in many years.
Be the first to ReplyFood was good but service was horrible.
According to our bill, which was the only thing brought to our table in a timely manner, we ordered our dinner at 7:02 pm. We did not receive our meal till 8:04. Never cleared dishes and never asked how everything was. Don't waste your time on this place.
Be the first to ReplyVery good restaurant!! Good food and nice inside seating.
Definetly recommend the steak frites and linguine vongole! Linguine is a bit oily/greasy but nonetheless very good! Seafood tastes very fresh and had great experience here!

You know, I think I have a lot of five-star reviews, BUT I seem to go to a lot of places where every aspect of dining is warm and friendly. If you are visiting the North Shore, this restaurant is worth visiting. The last paragraph explains the missing stars. As you might already know, my son has Autism, and I am always looking for places that are friendly to him. What is so special about this place is the location... a charming strip in the middle of town with BIG WINDOWS facing a TRAIN TRACK. The old-style MBTA trains pass every hour. Every child of every age enjoys this. I know I did. Alexander was happy to watch it pass. The menu: There is so much variety. The salads are interesting, and each ingredient tastes as if they went to the back garden and picked it fresh to put on my plates. The choices of vegetables are distinctive enough to expose you to some change but nothing too exotic. I could eat a salad here every day and be happy. The soups! OMG, the poisson rouge was filled with seafood and plantains! Plantains in New England! I never saw that coming. I swear there was a whole haddock in the soup for $12. I don't like clam chowder. But I do now. This creamy concoction was so jammed-packed with clams and potatoes, I was hooked. Both were incredibly flavorful and could stand on their own as a satisfying meal. Kids menu: my son had a FULL-SIZE burger and fries. The portion was so big his burger patty was falling over all the sides of the large bun. There were enough fries to serve the table. Did I mention that my son had both soups? We were like round robining the food. Finally, my husband had the Beef Bourguignon Short Ribs. The portion size was gargantuan. It was a super meal! The short rib was soft and delicious but could use a little more seasoning. However, that would not dissuade me from ordering it again. I would even recommend it. Everything doesn't have to be over-salted to death to be enjoyable. I had the chicken sandwich, and I added a salad. I don't need to say a lot. You get the picture. The fried chicken is like something you get in the south - perfectly juicy and fresh chicken with avocado on a bun. Why the missing star? I have been there twice. First with a friend; A young man waited on us. He was engaging and friendly. We joked around, and when I added a salad to my sandwich, he asked, "Instead of fries, or do you want your fries?" I kept my fries. This time I came in with my family, and I wasn't asked, and I didn't get my fries. That's okay, though. It was that this time I had to go get my own sugar for my coffee, and in the middle of eating our main meal, we were asked for our dessert order, or if we wanted the check. We had barely started our entrees in an almost empty restaurant, and we felt like we were being rushed out. This time our server was a teenager. Maybe that's why? But you never know why. I am going to go back and see what happens. Their brunch menu looks very promising. If I have a different experience, I will update my review.Update: I went back alone with my son. When I asked the person who seated us for the kid's menu, she rudely said, "We don't have one." I said, "I got one the last time I was here.", which was two days earlier. She said, "That was a long time ago, and we don't make those anymore." I was flabbergasted and didn't want to be THAT woman, so I let it go. I was huffy. Another waitress with purple hair passed by and said nicely, "Do you want a children's menu?" I said yes without telling her what happened. She was very pleasant the entire time, but the damage had been done with that other woman. I couldn't relax. I also went back to get takeout brunch, where the teenagers that are hired didn't pack syrup or utensils. I sat outside to eat with my son and realized. I went in to ask for those things, and they didn't know how to give us syrup to go. They put some in a 1 oz solo cup. It wasn't enough, and I had to go back and ask for more. I figured something out. I don't feel comfortable at this restaurant. I am not made to feel comfortable. I think they hire teenagers who are just acting like the kids they are, and that grown-up who was rude to me really set the tone. The owner never comes to my table, and I see she goes to others. One thing is my son left his toy there, and I had to drive back to get it. The owner spoke to me, and we laughed about children and their precious belongings. But I had already decided I wouldn't go back. And I won't.

Cannot recommend this place enough!! Friendliest staff, wicked flavorful food, and the drinks are to die for!! First went here on my way back from Rafe's Chasm last year at the height of Covid restrictions and got a cocktail to go as my friends and I waited for our food so as to not crowd the small venue. We got to enjoy the lovely surrounding scenery and watch the marina in the meantime. I've revisited countless times cuz I know/trust the food will always satisfy every last one of my taste buds and the atmosphere will make me feel cozy and at home :)

The location is this cafe is really great - right off the commuter rail and right next to the water/ little downtown area. The staff was very friendly :) I came here for breakfast ! They have a good amount of choices for breakfast. Although they did have a traditional breakfast - you could get all the items you want Al La carte. The mostly had breakfast sandwiches prepared a good amount of different ways.My favorite dish was the French toast :) I tried the berry one ! One con is the breakfast drinks we're not as great - I got the spiked chai - it basically tasted like chai tea with a shot of vodka (but not in the best way) added some sugar and cream to spice it up.

A very sweet restaurant at the corner of a picturesque street, by the hardware store and railway. Interior is a wash of distressed Provence white; because of the small, crepuscular space keeps it intimate. Great light and views of town. Lattes are sweet and not chalky or bitter. I'm partial to their omelettes and they are fluffy and flavourful. The avocado toast is very good, but the toast is not "toast size". The home fries are crunchy, and gummy to perfection. The employees are very attentive and have good energy. Place feels and smells very clean and bright. Nice range of clientele from polished to rugged.

Went based on all the great reviews and it was awful! It took 20mins after ordering to get waters (with multiple requests). We saw multiple tables get up and leave. We stuck it out bc the food reviews were so good, but shouldn't have. We waited over 50 mins, and the kid's grilled cheese wasn't melted at all, the fried egg on the croque madam was WAY over cooked, and the "crostini" with the shakshuka was just very stale bread. Would not return.
