we really enjoyed ourselves at ambar.
when you walk-in, i was immediately greeted. then they knew exactly where my party was as soon as i mentioned reservation. its beautiful inside && just feels peaceful! the food came out quickly, but cant forget the beautiful bread && spreads you get upon seating (which might i mention was bomb)! all the plates were good && small so make sure to order more than one each round if you think its something you really want! eddy is the bomb. look forward to revisiting!

I've been getting recommendations for Ambar for quite sometime so naturally I had to go check it out and I was not disappointed. As soon as we walked in, we were met with a very lively atmosphere with nice music and lots of laughter. We dined on the second floor which was very nice and decorated beautifully. We all chose to opt for the bottomless options and we were so glad we got to try a bit of everything. The mimosas were fabulous and packed a nice punch and we enjoyed all the food we ordered. Our server was great and gave us some great recommendations. We particularly enjoyed the Balkan salad, cheese pie, and salmon Benedict. Overall, we had a lovely time and for the price it's a great brunch option!
Be the first to ReplyWhat a gem.
Ordered an extensive selection and enjoyed it all. House-made sausage, stuffed cabbage with pork belly, cheese pie, brussels, mussels, ajvar & fresh pita, shrimp, and more. Portions are perfection for sampling and sharing. Like beets? Don't sleep on these. Will return.
Be the first to ReplyA new bottomless brunch favorite in DC.
The price + quality of food definitely makes it worth it. We added on bottomless drinks as well and we liked every option but the sangria, found it to be too heavy for brunch. The third floor space was beautiful, very glad we got to sit there though there was no lighting in those bathrooms so we preferred to go to the 2nd floor. Service on the drink refills could've been faster since there's a 1.5 hour time limit. Would absolutely recommend this place to anyone.

For a Michelin star restaurant, it wasn't what I was expecting at all - this was not a fancy restaurant, which I guess was why the prices were very reasonable, but the food was REALLY good and the experience was wonderful! So many yummy things to try and only one item out of a dozen didn't do it for us. Everything else was delicious! If we are ever in DC again, we will definitely go back to this restaurant!

I have nothing but good things to say about this place! I definitely would frequent it if I lived in the DMV. We came here for brunch and got the unlimited drinks since it's just $12.99 extra! Each dish was well prepared and delicious. My favorite easily was hanger steak, but you can't go wrong with any other dish. There wasn't a single item I tried that I didn't like. Furthermore, our server was very personable and attentive despite the fact that he had to tend to many tables. Highly recommend trying this place out!

Overpriced and the majority of the meat (sliders, sausage, steak) from brunch tasted like beyond meat. I'm not sure if this is because they are using alternative meat or if the meat quality is just low, but for such an expensive brunch, I expected more.
Be the first to ReplyFood: Not great, but very tasty in general.
Service: Very Good. They are attentive! Ambiance: very good ..... but you can't eat ambiance. That said. Pricy. Loud. Crowded. Bang for the buck ....... Not unless you don't eat for a day or two and chow up!!! We reserved a table of 6. We're seated in the back room. Next to an all boys day out birthday party. Could NOT have a civil discussion they were so loud. Couldn't be moved. "Very busy.. would have to wait". Other patrons visibly irritated too. No way I'm ever going to go back and pay for this "ambiance"! Ears still ringing!!

Great concept & good value for your money ! There were four in our group so we were able to enjoy the opportunity to try a number of different dishes . We were also seated in a nice room with wall to wall bottles of wine! The menu has plenty of choices and served tapas style. We had a few favorites like the pork belly cabbage rolls ( yummy ), urnebes dip which we loved & it was served with delicious bread . We loved it !!! The mussels were also tasty along with their white flatbread! . The rest were average in our opinion. Service was great & attentive in the beginning but our server never offered us the dessert menu because he was pretty much MIA for almost half an hour after we stopped ordering . We wanted to celebrate my daughter's 30th birthday here and I mentioned this on my reservation. No greeting to that effect at anytime before, during or after our dinner. In addition, their website shows half priced bottles of wine Wednesdays & Sundays. It was a Sunday evening. We asked for our check ( when we finally flagged our server down ) but we were charged full price for our 2 bottles of wine ! What ???? We questioned this & showed them the website and again waited because this took at least 20 min to be straightened out with the MOD & off site Mgr involvement . This experience in it's entirety should actually be a 2 1/2 star but there's no halves so ...

5, and not a 4 because of poor management discretion. I was excited to eat here after hearing about the unique concept: unlimited Balkan tapas. They say you only have 2 hours to indulge, but that is more than enough as we stopped ordering less than 90 minutes in because we got so full! There were 4 of us, so we were able to try everything we thought looked good which was probably 75% of the menu. Favorites (that we ordered doubles of) were pork belly stuffed cabbage, the urnebes spread, balkan kebab. Most of other dishes were bland in our opinion. Price wise, it is a great deal for the experience and quantity of food (would love to try it for lunch since the same menu is offered but for half the cost of dinner). We also dined on a Sunday, which is advertised as half price wine night. But customer beware, this is only on select wines which we were not provided a list of and ended up disputing the charge on our bill to management. This wasn't the only matter that left a sour taste at the end of the night: we were also a little annoyed that although our waiter was present during dinner, when we were finished he was nowhere to be found for about 40 minutes. We would've ordered dessert since we were celebrating a birthday, but got impatient and was ready to leave when we had been sitting for 2.5 hours now. Lastly, we tipped 20% on the credit card reader, but after reviewing our check at home the amount was closer to 30%. Our food and drink total was $270, but after tip (and tax) the new bill reflected $368. There is a disclaimer on their menu that there would be an additional 3% service charge that is not included as tip. We were aware of that, but still confused about how all this adds up. Overall, our experience with the food itself was worth it and would definitely bring us back if the menu changes seasonally. Unfortunately the management choices were suspect and seemed to use bait and switch tactics that we will just need to be wary of.
Be the first to ReplyI enjoyed Ambar and the unlimited dinner option.
I had mixed feelings.I recommend the mussels, steak tartare and cheese pie. For the price it's really worth it for unlimited options, especially if you like to try a couple of new things all at once. I enjoyed the dishes, service was quick and professional and variety was great but all the food was room temp when it got to the table. I really prefer my food hot when freshly prepared ! I understand the small plates tapa style are cooked quickly and placed aside in anticipation of high volumes of orders. But you can't crucify me for wanting my soup hot ! Plus the portions were very tiny and as all you can eat dining experience, there's a constant clutter and shifting around items with the need for plates to be taken away to make room for more. So my only ding is down to personal preference of the temperature and experience as an all you eat that hinges on servers and table crews availability

Went on a Sunday for their brunch menu which is on from 12 -2. What fun! The food was great! You can keep ordering throughout your stay from the wide selection of small dishes. A variety of all types. I am a granny and I went with my family of five, parents and three children, two teens and a five-year-old. We all had a great time ordering what we wanted. You can repeat the dishes you want. Reservations are a must for this time of the day.
Be the first to ReplySome friends and I came here for brunch on Sunday,
Some friends and I came here for brunch on Sunday, bottomless food AND drinks. The food is served small tapa style but you can pick as much as you want which is awesome! This place is huge- we were on the top floor which was smaller but super cute with all the cherry blossom décor and natural sunlight! You MUST make a reservation well in advance. We tried making reservations for last weekend at the beginning of the week and nothing was available. So we looked forward to this passed weekend and found the only time slots available were 10am or 10:30am. We took the 10:30 slot and stayed for the a lotted 2hr limit. As we were leaving (around 12:30) the whole place was pretty packed. So make a reservation! One of my friends is a dairy-free Pescatarian which means sometimes finding food can be challenging. The menus were all done by QR. We were directed to the allergy menu which was AMAZING!!!! We had NEVER seen anything like that before. It had every dish listed with any allergens associated with it, and an asterisk to indicate which dishes could be modified. It also listed dishes that were Pescatarian. Now to the actual food. All the food was absolutely delish! Some dishes that we had and loved were: fried chicken sliders, shrimp omelette, grilled veggie flatbread, and cinnamon sweet truffle sourdough. Those were just a few things that really stood out for us but everything was great. The drinks were also very good. They had 3 flavors of mimosa: regular, Peach Lavender, & Mango Hibiscus. I started with the Mango but fell in love with the Peach Lavender. Staff members were wonderful- our server was sweet and very helpful explaining how things work. She also kept our mimosa glasses full!Definitely will be coming back here!

Can say anything just try it . Make sure you call first. Parking is tough !!!
Be the first to ReplyWe ordered delivery food from here.
We liked the goulash (with short ribs) very much. We weren't real keen, though, on the meatballs we ordered. They just weren't as good as the other dishes we've had from here.

Absolutely one of my favorite places to brunch in DC! The best mimosa flavors! Best value..amazing flavor and always fresh.
Be the first to ReplyI went for the unlimited brunch recently with friends.
I'm vegan and am happy that Ambar has a separate allergen menu so one can see which dishes are ok to eat (dairy free, vegan, gluten free, etc.). Ambar's atmosphere is nice and the drinks are good, however, I do not recommend brunch for vegans. In the words of the waiter, the vegan brunch options "are limited". There are a few very lackluster/bland salads and tomato soup that can be modified to be vegan without the cheese. Also a few spreads, which are OK, as well as some sides (mushroom pilav and potatoes). Overall, very limited, and it's a lot to pay $35 for mediocre soup, salad, and sides. The management is also not willing to go off menu and prepare anything for vegans. The lunch and dinner menu have several vegetable options; however, I do not plan on going back to Ambar. My meat-eating friends did like it though.
Be the first to ReplyNot super vegetarian friendly.
The brunch is worth it, dinner not so much (fewer options and higher cost)

Sadly this went from one of my favorite places to my last resort. I've been twice over the last year and they have both been mediocre.
Be the first to ReplyThis place was a 4/5.
I came for their unlimited brunch and enjoyed a wide variety of food. My favorites were the fried chicken sliders, the eggs Benedict, steak, and strawberry waffle. My least favorites were the Mac and cheese and burgers. I also got a few drinks. I started off with a Bloody Mary, but soon realized that every time I wanted a new one they would have to go and make it, bringing me a new glass. I then switched over to mimosas, since they have pitchers handy to continuously fill everyone up.
Be the first to ReplyMy fiancé and I went to Ambar for our date night.
We had a great time. Our host was very kind, sweet and did her best to accommodate any needs or questions we had. The food and drinks came out relatively fast. We tried so many different style plates. The small to medium size portions gives you the opportunity to try a lot of different things. I love the decor and ambience of the restaurant as well. I've been to Amber a couple times and I would say that they are very consistent with the quality of food they serve. They have an unlimited drink menu that goes along side with the unlimited brunch, lunch, or dinner. My fiancé's favorite dish were the chicken skewers. My favorite dish was the meat pie. I definitely plan to come back again. The manager of the restaurant "Nash" does a great job managing the facility.

It's been a really long time since I've been to Ambar, and I was delighted to see that they redid the interior upstairs so it's really beautiful and much more aesthetic upstairs! We came for dinner to enjoy their unlimited small plates meal, which is a fantastic deal. They were a little behind getting us seated for our reservation so they gave us a complimentary beverage while we waited. The dinner deal is like $49 with an additional 27 to add unlimited drinks with your meal which can be very cost effective if you play your cards right. We loved everything we ate (I truly think we tried a little bit of everything on the menu during the 2 hours we were there). Thinking about coming back with my parents next time they visit!

Ambar's experience gives you chance to taste unlimited food in $27! Very good! Grilled shrimp has an amazing flavor!
Be the first to ReplyI went back to Ambar the other weekend, and unfortunately
I went back to Ambar the other weekend, and unfortunately it wasn't quite as magical as the first time I went. They've increased their pricing for unlimited drinks, which is unfortunate but I'm sure necessary for how strong the drinks are and how often servers keep your glass filled. It was a hard to hear my party because the place was filled to the brim- everyone else has, no doubt, learned about the magic of Ambar! I got the steak again and found it was very chewy, and not as buttery soft as the first time I came. All in all, Ambar still has an incredible brunch which can be worth it if you get your money's worth in food and beverages, but I'm not sure it is still my top DC brunch spot.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing.
One of my new favorite restaurants. Will definitely be coming back! Loved every single thing I got (got about 10 things).
