American Bar Review
The fact this place only has 3.5 stars on yelp is so wild. Y'all need to get a grip. We had an absolute BLAST here, and honestly 95% of that was due to my girl Jenn!! Walking in, I was pretty exhausted as I had a long travel day from LA. We sit down in this dope little booth, and Jenn walks right up to us with the most welcoming smile on her face and great energy. I initially opt for an old fashion, but realize damn it might be time for an espresso martini. I ask Jenn what the vibe is and she goes "We make the best espresso martini" and she wasn't lyinnnn!!! For food, I called for the Spring Rolls for an appetizer and could just tell Jenn didn't think that was the move. I said "I didn't feel that from you, what's the vet move here?" She says "The Chicken Tenders" in the most confident tone you've ever heard in your life. Think Michael Jordan game 6 in Utah confidence. We obviously got the chicken tenders and they absolutely SLAPPED. We also got a half dozen oysters and they were great. For entrees, I went with the burger with shoe string fries and the homie got the Cobb Salad. Both were phenomenal. Shoestring fries with a glass of Pinot Noir is Kobe and Shaq. Dessert time came and Jenn said the ice cream sandwich was the go-to and she has never told a lie. 8.75/10 for it. After dessert, Jenn said "I think it might be time for espresso martini shots" to which I just kind of paused and took a moment to process because I really didn't know that was even a thing. At this point, I trust her implicitly so we pull the trigger. She comes back with shots for us AND herself. What a mf legend. We were having so much fun and chopping it up with Jenn that I really forgot to take pictures so that's on me y'all, I'll be better. American Bar if you're reading this, Jenn is a national treasure!!!!!!!!!!
Be the first to ReplyGreat Atmosphere
American Bar was a good experience. We sat on the heated terrace and it was nice - quiet and quaint. The crab cakes were delicious. The salads were okay. The staff was friendly and did a great job.
Be the first to ReplyReally nice soho American French restaurant
A really nice experience. The tables are a bit small but good atmosphere. The ingredients are fresh and well prepared. The big green salad was gigantic and really fresh with a great dressing. Crab cakes were also really good as was the tuna tartare. The spaghetti with lobster was amazing with lots of lobster. Pork Milanese was also great. Main course portions were generous. The ice cream sundae was nice but a bit mean with the toppings. Overall a very good dinner.

Incredible food and service. Buzzing atmosphere. Canโt ask for anything more. Was seated near the bar and swiftly ordered a ton of apps and mains. Lobster Pasta was a big hit. Highly recommend. GM Jeffrey Moreno runs a great restaurant !

I struggled with whether or not I was going to write a review of my experience, but after having a warm greeting and an immediate seating at another restaurant down the block, I felt that I had to write. After not seeing my family for years, they were in town and we were walking about the Village. My sister, niece and nephew were hungry and as I looked at the food at the restaurant as we walked by we decided to see if there was an available table. Three gentlemen were in front of us and there was a discussion about whether they would sit inside or outside. Before I could speak with the hostess a man in black approached the hostess and whispered in her ear. Then, when I inquired about a table for four, she said that they were "fully committed" even though I could see available tables. So I asked her directly if that was actually the case or whether she had just been told to say that since the sequence of events seemed rather suspicious. She stated "no" and pointed out the man in black as her general manager and said I could speak with him. I declined to do so under the circumstances - but it did seem strange that he would just stand there and lurk about as if to see what would happen since he hadn't been standing there before.
I'm a person who goes by gut instincts and that situation just didn't feel right. But I'm not carrying that energy with me which is the reason that I'm writing this. I know what happened and so do the hostess and the general manager.
All I have to say is there is such a thing as karma. And no one could ever pay me to go back there again.
New Place to be In New York
the place is just new and has just a week ! I loved the dim light ans comfortable seats. It was St Valentine and we could enjoy cocktails and delicious wine. The menu is very varied and from an egg salad sandwich to a bowl of chips with a side of caviar, and itโs a perfectly fine spot to eat a nicely cooked steak with a couple of picky diners. . I loved the music with french songs ( even if a bit loud) and it s open late ! Good to know !
