Decent Italian

4/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Luann C on 05/03/2024

Enjoyed dinner here our first night. Very Pricey and everything is ale-cart. Had the gnocchi it was good, but not what I expected. Very small pieces of gnocchi covered with mozzarella cheese and baked. My husband had seafood spaghetti and the sauce was exactly the same. His was very el dente which he did not like. Italian salad was good. His oysters were good. I am Italian and critical of the food. It was decent but very expensive. Watch Michael Symone on the food network all the time and wanted to try. His name is not listed on the menu or signage though which I thought was strange? Too full for dessert. Service was excellent and nice atmosphere. Right in casino.

3/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Shyne F. on 03/31/2024

Disappointed that I chose this restaurant for my anniversary dinner date. It came recommended by reception staff at the Borgata. Recommended to make a reservation of course because it's a "fine dining" restaurant, easy to make reso by calling or using Borgata app. Staff seemed overwhelmed by all the people which seemed to interfere with providing great customer service. My real gripe was the lack of flavor that my main dish had. I feel like it's pretty hard to mess up chicken parm and I expected an Italian restaurant to knock it out the park, and that was not the case. The dish looked great but I've made better chicken parm at home. Also note that you have to order a side with your dish (plus that it's shareable, minus that this also wasn't great)...we went with the potatoes :(, so bland. Sad our server never asked if food was ok lol, perhaps he knows. Server was nice enough to bring a small cake and candle near the end to acknowledge our Anni, that was thoughtful and another woman made sure our water never went to 1/2 of the cup. Our drinks were ok. Omg the highlight for my husband was the appetizer with the stuffed baked clams and for both of us the garlic bread which is the free bread they bring out but the garlic bread is on the menu to order, comes out hot. Chile I ate that entire thing and thankfully so!

Came here for a friends birthday on a Friday night and the place was virtually empty. The service was good and the wait staff was very kind and attentive. I had the short rib bucatini which was delicious and had a little kick to it. Majority of the table got the borgata Bellini and that was amazing- not very strong but refreshing!

Ordered ceaser salad which was not good, pasta with lamb Ragu had little meat and sauce was like tomato paste. I ordered sword fish and it was over cooked and I sent it back and got eggplant parm instead which was soggy and tasteless, rapini had red pepper which over Powered it and it was chewy roast potatoes tasted like there was vinegar in them. All in all food was terrible except for the dessert. Also not worth the money.

Definitely in my top 5 best Italian restaurants I've been to; and I'm not easy to please. Whenever I come by to NJ, I definitely can't leave without coming back. Baked clams- 10/10 Garlic Bread- Amazing 10/10 Eggplant Parmesan- 10/10 Pasta on the side: 9/10 (lower rating since it was more plain)

3/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Cristian G. on 02/22/2024

This restaurant within the casino offered a satisfactory dining experience, with the primary reservation being the high costs, which, albeit expected in a casino setting, were difficult to fully justify. The charges extended to amenities, including TV in the rooms. Nonetheless, the ambiance and service were commendable, contributing positively to the overall atmosphere. Our server was particularly likable, enhancing our dining experience. The menu choices, including lasagna and chicken parm, were pleasing without being overwhelming, presenting a balance of flavors. However, the quality, though decent, did not entirely offset the steep pricing. Our reservation led to prompt seating, a smooth aspect of the service. The pricing remains the main drawback, yet it's worth noting that within the Borgata casino, this restaurant is comparatively one of the more affordable dining options. The Borgata itself is a pleasant and refined establishment, and while Angeline's comes recommended, it might not incite overwhelming enthusiasm. It's a viable option if you find yourself hungry in the area. You will most likely enjoy the food.

16 hungry Italians. Our reservation was for 5:00. We were seated 5:00 on the dot as soon as they opened. Because of the large number of people we had a set menu. For Appetizers we had meatballs and rice balls. Rice balls were awesome. Meatball pretty good. Not as good as mom but good. Garden salad fresh and delicious. The entrees were just awesome every one of them. From the veal osso bucco to the homemade cavatelli and bucatini. One better than the other. Dessert was cannolis and Italian cheese cake. Just delicious. Overall amazing service and food. Highly recommend.

(But we didnโ€™t know it was him until we got home) I didnโ€™t recognize him with without his hat. He was so humble. The service was impeccable. After every course our table was cleaned and reset. The serving size was generous. What we couldnโ€™t eat was kindly put into containers to take home with us. I canโ€™t wait to visit again to give Chef Simon the recognition he deserves.

4/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Jane P on 12/02/2023

โ˜†โ˜†โ˜† Angelines were okay, I read reviews before booking reservations that were overrated, to say the least. The service really impacts the mood in dining out. There is a lack of attention and a verbal tone if you're a table of two compared to a table of four. After being ignored, due to patrons that arrived after us, being anxiously serviced, by our waiter. It appeared that he sent his coworker to wait on the smaller tables. The food was sub-par see pic's. Sorry, I will not recommend Angelines to my friends and family.

Anniversary Dinner; Extremely Disappointed and a Big Let Down!!!

1/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @JerseyGirl76 on 08/31/2023

My husband and I were hoping for a romantic dinner at Angeline to celebrate our 28th wedding anniversary. Was looking forward to it, even looked over the menu in advance! Upon arriving we were seated next to the wait staff station. I asked to move to the corner table next to us which was empty. Our waiter accommodated the request. We werenโ€™t seated two minutes before we were brought the wine and dinner menus. For our appetizers we ordered the โ€œTasting Boardโ€ and โ€œBurrata & Sweet Hot Peppers'. For our entrees, I ordered the โ€œVeal Marsalaโ€ along with a side of sauteed spinach. My Husband ordered the โ€œVeal Chop Milaneseโ€. I also ordered a 9 oz craft of wine. I have to say the Tasting Board was the only decent dish. The Burrata & Sweet Hot Peppers was chopped up in a bowl and the burrata was small and melted. The โ€œVeal Marsalaโ€, was a BIG MISTAKE!! It was drowning in brown gravy and my side of sauteed spinach was burnt to a crisp. Who serves crunchy spinach?? Sent it back to only get steamed spinach with shaved garlic on top. The โ€œVeal Chop Milaneseโ€ was overcooked. And ALL entrees were bland. I wish I read the reviews before booking; Way overpriced and the entrees were very mediocre at best. We felt that our meal was rushed. So rushed that our entire meal took less than one hour!! This was my first and last time at Angelineโ€™s. Will never go back. Want to know the best authentic Italian restaurants in ACโ€ฆ try Carmines (Tropicana) or Il Mulino (Hard Rock). However, if you want to stay at the Borgata, try Old Homestead Steak House. You wonโ€™t be disappointed!

Cleveland Italian food can't cut it in Jersey

2/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @thomas m on 06/26/2023

Totally disappointing. We went there with friends, I was treating for dinner. Service was slow and the food quality was below average. If you're a celebrity chef you better put out a better product that this. We tried the octopus and it was thick and chewy and came with a sauce which tasted sorta like puttanesca sauce without the heat and way too many capers. The swordfish was thin and came in the same caper and tomato sauce as the octopus. The sauce was so salty we didn't even mop it up with the bread, just left it. I tried the bucatini short rib ragu. The pasta was over cooker and I couldn't find any short ribs in it only shreds of beef that might have been short ribs but there was no way to really tell. One meal took an extra 10 minutes to come out so we waited while our food got cold. The guys at the table next to us said their meals were terrible and that the sauce tasted Ragu from the jar. We complained to the manager about the wait and the food quality and she offer dessert but another table said the desserts weren't very good so we paid the bill and left. Everyone left disappointed with their meal.

1/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Karen T. on 03/20/2023

So bummed- this was a dinner for multiple special occasions and we thought for sure we were in good hands but it fell flat for sure. Attitudes run deep here- the check in experience sets you up in a negative way because you think you're interrupting something when you walk in. No one is pleased to see you or happy to have you spending A-LOT! of money in their establishment. The food is average at best- not one stand out in 8 meals and several apps- the cocktails were the best thing about the meal sad to say! We voiced a few times about how we weren't happy with a few things and they could have cared less- skipping this one for sure- too many great choices in the area to settle for mediocre over-priced food. Shocking with an established highly respected chef name behind it but I assume he's removed from the process.

We were celebrating a friend's birthday. My husband and I enjoy the food but feel that they rush the meal. So this time, we only wanted to order the apps first. If you give the waiter your whole order you'll have all your food served within 15 minutes. They don't even wait until you finish your appetizer. The waiter rudely told us that he wouldn't take our order unless it was complete. When I told him I didn't want our meal to be rushed, he stormed off and sent another waiter. I wrote to the Borgata to complain but still, months later, have not heard back from them. For the price you pay to eat there, you should be able to enjoy your meal without feeling rushed.

1/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Chester M. on 02/06/2023

The hostesses won't make eye contact and will greet you with all of the charm you could expect at a prison cafeteria. However, they will be more than happy to text on their phones while loudly complaining about how they wish they weren't at work. It doesn't matter if the restaurant is at an eighth capacity- as you tell them you have a reservation they will look displeased that you interrupted their complaint session when you approach the podium. My family group (we were celebrating a graduation) were all shocked by this. The food is comparable to chain restaurant Italian fare. Bland and of subpar quality, especially for the price. The desserts are stale as if they are straight out of a greasy spoon diner case. The drinks aren't bad. The servers are friendly. For authentic Italian food at Borgata visit The Wine Bar-- quality ingredients, delicious food, and a hostess that doesn't look like she's on the verge of quitting. The Borgata Buffet's pasta dishes are also much tastier than here.I always wondered why Angeline had available reservations while everywhere else at Borgata was booked up. Especially when we were a group of 6 last minute. Now I know.Ciao, Angeline! I hope you either revamp your service and cuisine or that a more deserving restaurant takes its place at Borgata.

We went to dinner the other night and were looking forward to it. First off the tables for two are on top of each other and were very tight on top of people. It was hard to get out to leave, We ordered rice balls as an appetizer and it was good. But when we ordered and I ordered the tortelloni, the waiter told me that what I ordered was A small dish and was the smallest of the entrees. I found that strange as the tortelloni was meatless and if I remember 32 dollars. He wasn't lying for 32 dollars I received 7 to 8 small tortellini. I was very disappointed. My wife ordered shrimp piccata which she said was just ok. The desserts were fine so that's why I did not go lower than a three. But I was extremely disappointed.

2/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Christina1202 on 01/08/2023

Wonโ€™t be coming back here-the food was lukewarm and the service was even worse. We had the arancini and baked clams as appetizers, and the ricotta gnocchi and tortelloni for dinner. Arancini didnโ€™t have much flavor, and the baked clams were ok and on the larger end. The tortelloni was decent, but lukewarm. The gnocchi was also lukewarm and overcooked. Not only did the waiter correct my husband multiple times for how he said โ€œgnocchiโ€, but my husband also asked for parm cheese to put on top and got straight out told โ€œnoโ€ by the waiter bc it โ€œdidnโ€™t match the dishโ€. We've been here a few times and have always enjoyed

4/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Cathy C. on 01/05/2023

We've been here a few times and have always enjoyed ourselves. The food is delicious and the servers are polite, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Every time we visit, my husband has to have the veal parm chop (it's not always on the menu but they can usually make it upon request). This is a thick cut, bone in style chop and although at first glance it may look like a chop one can get at other high-end Italian restaurants, this one is different and has become the standard to which my husband compares all others. We usually get an app and salad to split and I get a different entree each time we go. This past visit we split the octopus app and chopped salad. Both were great and I could not get enough of the salad. It was perfectly dressed, refreshing and overall enjoyable to eat. The octopus was tender and served with roasted potatoes in a tomato sauce with olives and a hint of cinnamon. For my entree I ordered the pasta with seafood in garlic & oil. I was shocked by the shear size of the dish, it was huge. The generous serving of seafood was fresh, perfectly cooked and flavorful. There was also a healthy serving of garlic, enough to keep the vampires away and exactly what I want in a garlic & oil "sauce". One might expect the seafood to outshine the pasta but no, the spaghetti was amazing. It had a great flavor and the perfect level of chew, I don't remember the last time I enjoyed a spaghetti dish as much as this one. There's a good selection of wines to choose from, I think we ordered a bottle of Brunello this time. The cocktails were well made & tasty. I enjoyed the cucumber, basil spritz (I was surprised to see it on the menu in December). My husband enjoyed his mezcal Old Fashioned. Highly recommend giving Angeline a try, we will definitely go back.

Was here last night. Waiter forgot to put our food order in. When it came out 45 min later the food was no better than a fair pizzeria. Eggplant Parm was just a few layers of grilled eggplant with some cheese on top. There was no ricotta and the eggplant should have been lightly fried. Taste was fair at best. Lasagna was similar in preparation. No ricotta and meat tasted like a ground up hamburger. Chicken Parm was ok. Called the manager over. He didnโ€™t really seem to care, and was barely apologetic. At the end of the meal they switched our waiter. By then the damage was done. High priced meal for food, and service that was LOUSY! Stay Away!

I have visited twice, I went back for the shrimp Parmigana which had been taken off of the menu for the season. They added shrimp piccata..a plate of 7 lemony slightly garlic shrimp with a few capers...a knockoff of scampi at 39. Bucks...a la carte.... no sides for clarity. The spaghetti tastes like rahman, it was clumpy and overcooked. That was a sad return. The garlic bread at 7. Is good, the menu is weak. Chicken parm was decent with the yucky additional cost spaghetti. Drinks average at around 13. I'm not a fan, there are other restaurants. If you want decent food at a reasonable price go downstairs to the marketplace, the pizzeria down there has more on the menu and the taste is comparable. Sorry Angeline... the staff members are nice, they are suffering from the kitchen.

Surprisingly Bad

2/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Njleco on 12/20/2022

We were really surprised how bad the food was at Angeline Italian restaurant. We have eaten here before and enjoyed our meal. They did recently change the menu and our favorites from before were not there. For example, the spaghetti was either well overcooked or just bad. How can you mess up spaghetti? The seafood had a very fishy smell and taste. Mom's meatballs were dry and tasteless.

Cold food

2/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Joseph M on 11/27/2022

Food was cold and half cooked. Nothing to write home about.. expected more. For a restaurant by Michael Simon, was very disappointing.

We made a reservation here to celebrate my husband's 55th

2/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Kimberly S. on 11/22/2022

We made a reservation here to celebrate my husband's 55th Birthday. Normally when we want a nice dinner we go to Old Homestead but they are closed for renovations, our second choice would have been the other new Steakhouse B Prime but they're closed on Sundays. So we figured we'd give this place a try. We were escorted to our table for two and ordered a bottle of water and were served a basket of bread and some butter. I didn't open the menu because we already read the menu online before we arrived and knew what we wanted. The waiter commented that they had just changed the menu that day so maybe what we wanted had changed and he asked what we planned on ordering so I told him to start we wanted calamari. He said that was no longer on the menu. Now I don't know if it's just me but calamari is pretty much a staple on every Italian menu. My husband asked why would you remove calamari? The waiter commented that it really wasn't moving so they replaced it. So anyway my husband looked over the other appetizers offered and decided on the Burrata & Tomatoes when it arrived my husband said where's the fresh basil? There was none to be seen. We've never seen the dish served without it. The burrata itself was tasty along with the tomatoes but it just wasn't right without the fresh basil. For the entrees he went with the Bucatini pasta and I ordered Mom's Lasagna. He said he did not like the flavor of the sauce. He said it tasted like it came from a can. I didn't care for my lasagna either. To me it tasted like tomato paste. It lacked seasoning and definitely needed salt and had barely any ricotta cheese. The one pet peeve that I have is when restaurants do not have salt and pepper on the table because you then either have to wait for your server to check in with you or flag someone down all the while your food is getting cold. So I now actually carry salt and pepper packets with me in my bag. So I barely ate half of my food and had the rest wrapped. I figured I would bring it home and season it to my liking. Since it was my hubby's birthday I had to order him a piece of cake so I got the Strawberry Cassata Cake it was served with a candle for him. He doesn't really eat dessert so he took a bite and passed the cake to me to eat. Let me say the cake was the best part of the meal! The cake was moist and the custard had just the right amount of sweetness combined with the fresh strawberries it was delicious... I commented to my husband they either have an excellent pastry chef or they order their desserts elsewhere. I couldn't finish the cake as it was a rather large slice, I should have eaten this in place of my entree. I definitely can't recommend this restaurant, I'm happy we paid in comps otherwise that food would have went straight back. This place goes in my one and done category.

What a disappointing dining experience my husband and I

1/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @Lynn K. on 11/18/2022

What a disappointing dining experience my husband and I shared here. We should have ran when the visibly sick hostess (who probably doesn't get paid time off) sneezed on the original table she attempted to seat us at. For the appetizer, we had the shrimp, which was the only bright spot in the whole meal. We also had the rice balls that had next to no sauce and little taste - I've had frozen rice balls that were more impressive. For dinner, I ordered the bucatini, and my husband ordered the lasagna. Both of our meals came out cold and had a color like they had been sitting on the line for an extended amount of time. My husband said he didn't care even though his lasagna was cold all the way through the center. When I told the food runner that my dish was cold, he stared at me blankly. I repeated myself, and he said what would you like me to do - it was a weird question; nonetheless, I asked for a new dish to be made. The gentleman walked away shaking his head. About a minute later a "new" plate appeared. The temp was identical to my first plate - because it was the same plate I had sent back - so much so that grated cheese didn't melt on top. Save your money and go somewhere you'll get a fresh, hot meal because this place isn't it.

Avoid Angeline in Atlantic City

2/5 by ๐Ÿ‘ป @alex3353 on 10/17/2022

Please excuse my laziness. I am copy/pasting the exact response I sent to Angeline when they asked for my feedback. I think you'll get the picture (and it's not a pretty one). With all of the options available in AC there is no reason to go to Angeline. It wasn't a complete horror show, but there are so many better options in AC. Ye have been warned. "Although our waiter certainly could have been better (e.g. never brought us bread although everyone else received some; failed to take any discernible action when we informed him both of our appetizers were below subpar), the main issue we experienced was related to the food. While our dessert (panna cotta) and the chicken parmesan were both very good, the same can't be said for the other entree (cacio y pepe tortelloni) and two appetizers (baked clams; calamari fra diavolo). First, not only was the tortelloni average at best, but charging $32 for what amounts to an appetizer sized portion is simply unconscionable. I don't recall tasting foie gras or white truffles in the tortelloni, and even homemade pasta shouldn't warrant such a lofty price tag. So I simply can't understand why a larger portion wouldn't be provided... or a lower price, I guess. Second, usually when something says "fra diavolo" one should expect at least a modicum of spiciness. My wife and I were not aware that fra diavolo apparently has an alternate translation meaning "incredibly bland", since not only was there zero spice but there was also zero flavor. Without hyperbole, it tasted like a can of unsalted tomato sauce was poured over some calamari. Third, I was not previously aware baked clams could be made so poorly. Aside from the heavy bread crumb to clam ratio, since the majority of the appeal of baked clams is the garlicky, buttery, greasy deliciousness, it was shocking to find these clams were lacking in every respect. It almost tasted like somebody chopped up some clams with Stove Top stuffing and called it a day. Considering the reputation Angeline has enjoyed, I cannot believe the average diner has eaten the same two appetizers as we did and thought they were anything beyond below average (and that is being generous). I have been to many hole-in-the-wall pizzeria-slash-Italian restaurants that have made a far superior fra diavolo and baked clam. No offense, but everyone associated with Angeline should truly and genuinely be embarrassed. And, for the record, this is not intended to be a hit job. We found the restaurant itself to be very nice, and the chicken parmesan was actually very good! But I think it goes without saying a restaurant of this caliber should not have such obvious fails in what can be considered very basic Italian dishes. And, not for nothing, while you could make an argument we should have voiced our displeasure more vocally at the time, at some point people feel like they just want to cut their losses and move on. After the bland (pun intended) response from our waiter to our complaints, we felt the best option we had was to let our future decisions do the talking. Consequently, when we (and our friends) return to the Borgata we will be sure to avoid Angeline. Thank you."
