Of all the amazing restaurant options in New Orleans -- a city that has some of my favorite places I've eaten in over the last 10 years -- I really regret I wasted the time and money to come here (and invited our friends to come with). The service was some of the worst I've had in any restaurant, but for the price of a 5-star restaurant. It all started well enough: we were greeted, got seated, our server introduced himself, we ordered cocktails, and they brought us some bread. Fast forward us asking for the wine menu, never getting it, asking someone else, finally getting it halfway through our apps, asking for a sommelier, finally being able to order a bottle of champagne, having a random server take glasses away from 2 people at our table while we had more champagne chilling somewhere, bringing them back, another random server dumping the last of the champagne to fill up one person's glass to the top while 2 of ours were empty, no one asking if we wanted anything else to drink, etc. We had to ask for an extra piece of bread 3 times before someone brought it, and then someone took my friend's plate with bread still on it right out from under her nose. No one asked how our entrees were. No one checked on us for most of the meal. I'm not even sure the server actually asked the chef about being able to order items off the chef's tasting menu since he forgot to let me know his answer until I asked again. It was almost laughable... if appetizers weren't $25-30, mains $50+, cocktails nearly $20, a glass of champagne $30, etc. We honestly should have known, since my friend came here last time and spent $1k to have a similar experience. What a joke.
Be the first to ReplyThe service was perfect from the moment the door was opened.
My husband hates creases on table cloths and there were no creases to be found. That shows the amount of care placed into the customer experience is thought through. The food was impeccable. Everything was cooked as requested. I had the wagyu entree, and I had it well done only because I'm expecting. I wish I was able to have the entree as it was supposed to be served because it was amazing. The whole Easter brunch menu was delicious and a balanced experience. The staff provided an excellent ambiance throughout the meal. Amazing experience all the way around.

Beautiful, cozy restaurant that is a bit on the quieter side (which I'm not mad about). Great selection of wine, cocktails, etc. The gnocchi was so so so good. The staff were very nice and welcoming. Seems as though they stay booked. I was able to walk-in and get a place at the bar.

I went to Restaurant August with coworkers while on a business trip. I would categorize this as fine dining. There were white tablecloths and shining silverware. It was a little dark. It is not large restaurant but has a nice bar with seating at the bar and few tables in the bar area and a wine cellar. The menu had a nice variety of food dad drink selections to choose from. We all had the red snapper filet. It was delicious. We asked for bread and were served cornbread muffins. We had the hummingbird cake and rum raisin ice cream. Service was good. The servers were knowledgeable and friendly. August is a nice choice for date night and celebrations. Not sure if they could accommodate a lot of large parties in one evening. Definitely would visit again.
Be the first to ReplyMy wife and I came here to celebrate our anniversary.
The restaurant really went big to help us celebrate. The service was excellent - from the front door, to our conversation with the sommelier, to Chef Thomas coming out to say hello at the end of the dinner. And the food was outstanding. We started the spiny lobster and the escargot. I had the three-way duck. My wife had the snapper. Every dish was excellent. The wine (an unusual pinot fin) was excellent. The little goodies between courses were just good tasty fun. The room is gorgeous. Elegant, but not overly formal.
Be the first to ReplyQuite possibly the best meal of my life.
And that's saying something! The enchanting dining room is beyond any expectation of a classic French restaurant in New Orleans. After being seated by the charming host, I ordered one of two spirit free cocktails called the Tonic de Jardin. It was refreshing and light which was the perfect antidote to my meal ahead. After ordering an appetizer and entree, a delectable amuse bouche was delivered and I'm cursing myself for botching the photo of it! An egg shell arrived filled with pea purée and burrata foam. There were toasted sunflower seeds mixed into the fluffy mix which rounded out the flavors perfectly. Next the escargot arrived which was prepared with black trumpet mushrooms, beer and Worcestershire. Event the celery leaves added to the complex ragout. Whoever decided to mix Brie and grits is a friggin'' genius! The duck three ways came after that and satisfied every desire I had of an entree. From the perfectly crisped duck breast to the seared Foie gras and the exceptional confit, this was the star of the meal. There were no dessert options available for gluten free, but the cappuccino made up for that! I had a little chocolate ice cream, but honestly I could have skipped that after the amazing meal. Exemplary service, exceptional cuisine and gorgeous ambiance. 10 out of 10!

Romantic ambience, exposed brick, excellent service - the entire staff, each and every one, was professional, friendly and passionate about our experience. Enjoyed every course! Wish I took more pics of the food! This is one of the top restaurants in New Orleans and convenient walking distance from our hotel. Sit back and enjoy the evening from cocktail, wine list, course selection and attentive staff.

Extraordinary! The fried oyster is incredible: crispy crunchy outside and juicy refined taste inside. Duck three ways is another fantastic dish!
Be the first to ReplyReally one of the best restaurants in the states.
Would probably easily be a Michelin 1 or 2 star. Everything from starters entree and dessert. Even the little chocolates at end was excellent. Ambiance and service are excellent.
Be the first to ReplyFrom start to end was a phenomenal experience.
Service was wonderful and the restaurant beautiful. We started with the Iberico pork which was tasty but for the price probably wouldn't get again as was very small. We shared several of the entrees - the duck, the red snapper, gnocci, and the wagu beef - every one of them was really delicious. You can't go wrong with any of these choices! The restaurant was expensive, but the quality was superb, so definitely would be back for a special occasion!

Excellent food, great service and ambiance in this intimate setting of a historic old building.
Be the first to ReplyA fabulous experience during our latest trip.
It's located right outside the French quarter. A very nice restaurant and great service. I had the duck and my wife had the snapper. The duck was excellent with the addition of the foie grais, it was perfect

What a beautiful restaurant with amazing service and delicious food! We ordered the tasting menu because everything on the menu looked amazing and we wanted to sample the chef's choices. Each dish was wonderfully prepared and presented. The range of flavors was well balanced, and the portion sizes were enough to fully enjoy the course while not overwhelming the palate. Highly recommended!
Be the first to ReplyWow! We did the tasting with wine pairing.
Every bite of food was delicious and creative. Excellent presentation and very attentive staff. We were full by the time we were done. The wine pairing wasn't quite as good as the food. They didn't give much explanation, and not all of the pairings felt like they really went together.
Be the first to ReplyMy new #1! Went for first time and did the tasting menu.
Innovative and fantastic. Food was skillfully prepared with a very seasoned and knowledgeable staff. Treated like a king and meal reflected that. This is the place you come to wow someone. What a great experience.

The next time you're in NO, make a reservation at August! You'll thank us, I promise. FIVE STAR REVIEW The meal started out with a "gift from the chef." A savory leek custard, topped with pumpkin mousse and a sprinkle of sweet & salty crunch, presented in a perfectly carved eggshell. We were given spoon bread as well, which was the lightest, airiest and creamiest corn muffin ever to cross my lips. The sommelier told us that the secret ingredient was sour cream. I guess the secret is out now! Our sommelier suggested Pinot Noir. Monty chose Belle Glos Las Alturas. Let's just say that we started shopping for it online immediately after the first taste. It has a fuller body than a typical Pinot Noir, so smooth and juicy. Such a perfect pairing. Monty had the pecan-smoked venison tartare with celery root and mountain rose apple. The flavors and textures were out of this world! We combined a few bites of the tartare with a bit of spoon bread. Omg, I'll say it again: Out. Of. This. World. I ordered the gnocchi "black and blue" with black truffles, jumbo lump crab and parmesan. Tender, yet slightly firm, with a delicate, pillowy texture, but the truffle took it to a whole 'nuther level! They gnocchi'd it out of the park with this one. For dinner we shared duck three ways with Bayou Cora grits, foie gras, confit, chestnut mushrooms and cherry bounce. Y'all, I've had foie gras, but never before like this. An intensely flavorful silky texture that literally bursts on your tongue. It was absolutely divine. Dessert was hummingbird cake with creole cheesecake, bruleed banana and pineapple ice cream. I just don't know what to say except the pastry chef knows exactly what she is doing!! This was definitely meal to remember with the love of my life, my favorite dining companion, and my partner in culinary escapades. I love our journey of flavorful adventures, seasoned with spice and a love that mirrors the diversity of a well-crafted menu. Here's to more delicious chapters in our love story, baby, where every bite is a beautiful reminder of the incredible life we share! Cheers!!

Had a beautiful meal here during our 30 hour layover in New Orleans. I was impressed with the ambiance and service, but the real showstopper was the food. We opted for the chefs tasting menu with the wine pairing. It highlighted local cuisine in a modern way and was so creative and delicious. I look forward to another meal here when we revisit this beautiful city.
