Bagatelle London Reviews
Avoid at all costs, a rip-off of a brunch.
We went as a group of girls for a celebration. We knew the live music element & that was fun but it was constant throughout, we could not have a discussion as it was loud & constant & so dark you couldn't see the menu or each other well. To make it worse it accompanied by terrible food, we recieved a glass of champagne as part of the brunch deal but it was warm, so had to send every single one back. The choice of food was extremely limiting & absolutely not worth £75 a head for 1 warm champagne some eggs as a starter & a basic pasta dish. the highlight was the desert but it was only a waffle & fruit. Such a let down, I think the novelty in years passed has well & truly gone.
Racism at its finest - Avoid at all costs
I visited here on a whim on Friday evening but I was not prepared for the subtle racism from the supposed door manager (Rafael). He mentioned the venue being reservation only and refused entry to my friend and I. I stepped aside and out of sight and witnessed Rafael allow white women and men (without reservations) into the venue. It’s sad to think that this mentality exists in London and especially from a fellow black person. Upon checking the website, it became apparent that it was not possible to make a reservation after a certain time anyway. Having gained a better view of the venue I realised that they probably worked a 1 black person to every 50 white people ratio. I witnessed only 1 black woman in the venue. This is appalling from your staff members bagatelle. It is unacceptable in any event but even more so in what is supposed to be one of the most diverse cities (London). Please do better.
WORSE SERVICE EVER RECEIVED WHEN DINING!!
Last night 25.2.24 7 of us attended Bagatelle for our friends 30th birthday - a very special birthday which was pre-planned. My friend when booking was told they have a set menu where you receive free cocktails for 2 hours but the booking is for 7:30pm. We queried the time as wanted to be there for the midnight mass and they assured us that we can extend our table no problem at all. Upon entering we were greeted by the most stuck up, rudest and arrogant little girls, who wouldn’t let 3 of us sit until the rest of the group arrived. When seated we were sat in a comfy corner until again, another rude waitress told us to move as they misplaced us. We were then moved into the first table, close by the door where we were all freezing!! I explained to the waiter that I am Muslim and do not drink alcohol so would prefer a soft drink, he then handed me an alcoholic cocktail without even saying!! Luckily I asked a friend to try it before I did. We were then rushed into eating and when I mean rushed at one point they took our plates which had food on from infront of us!! The waiter took my napkin OFF my lap to lay on the table to cover a spot of sauce which was on the table. He totally disregarded that I was protecting my dress but he was more interested in hiding a 3cm mark off of an eating table!! Not even 2 hours into our booking the bill was slapped on the table, our dessert not even half way finished and we were told to leave!! My friend was absolutely distraught, it ruined her birthday and not a single person would take into account the fact that it was falsely promised we could extend our table or that we had travelled quite some distance to attend!! I am looking into making a formal complaint officially as the service received, for the price paid was absolutely diabolical. We felt like we were young kids being told off and treated like dirt of their shoe! My £2k bag was taken off a stool provided and put in a dirty patch on the table also! Avoid if you’re hoping for a decent respectful evening.
WORST RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE
WORST RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE!! Me and my friends had gone to Bagatelle in the hopes in having a lovely birthday dinner. We had booked and reserved a place at the restaurant to be told we are not able to get in as they had given our table away! I have never felt so small and uncomfortable in my life, the way they had treated young girls is horrific. Once we had made a formal complaint over email we had then been informed ‘a reservation at the restaurant does not guarantee that you will be let in’. I am utterly disgusted and shocked this has happened to us. Please avoid at all costs!
Vulgar treatment to young girls
DO NOT GIVE THIS RESTAURANT THE TIME OF DAY. Never been treated with such disrespect by a member of door staff in my life. We booked our reservation over a month in advance and had to pay a £750 deposit to secure the booking wich we were happy to do as we have been to the resturant before and enjoyed the atmosphere. This was for a joint birthday of both of my friends and we travelled far from home into London for. We arrived half an hour early so plenty of time before our table. Seconds after we got out of our cab we was told by the guy on the door we could not come in because one of us wasn’t in line with the “classy and elegant” dress code but he refused to tell us who/ what was wrong. I can assure you we was all dressed more than appropriately all in heels, we have been to bagatelle before. At the same time, he was letting people in wearing jeans and trainers- insulting to say the least. They had very clearly just given our table away but chose to make us feel insecure about what we was wearing rather than to be honest. I asked to speak with the manager for more information and he refused to speak to me any further. BAGATELLE YOU SHOULD BE EMBARRASSED HAVING SOMEONE WHO TREATS YOUNG LADIES SO AWFULLY ON YOUR DOOR- He was so rude and undermining looking down on all of us. The bouncers was lovely and supportive as we waited outside in the freezing cold for half and hour expecting it to be sorted. DO NOT BOOK TO COME HERE YOUR NEVER GUARANTEED A SPACE NO MATTER HOW MUCH MONEY THEY TAKE. UNLESS UR AN INFLUENCER OR FRIENDS WITH THE BOSS UR NOT PASSING THROUGH THOSE DOORS 😂😂😂
AVOID!!!!
Avoid!!!! Was looking forward to spending another night at Bagatelle to celebrate 2 of my friends birthdays until the host “greeted us.” Bagatelle being a big establishment with a high name you’d think they’d want a welcoming host however he was far from it!!! Before even coming to bagatelle we each paid £150, booked through a friend who is friends with the senior manager and had email confirmation that the table was booked and fine. Upon arriving the host took one of the guests (being the birthday girl) aside and said we wasn’t dressed “classy and elegant” - coming from a man wearing a leopard studded jacket. 5 of us girls mid 20s have been previously so know what needs to be worn and how to play the dress code. The host tried to embarrass us and belittle us. We requested to speak to a manger which he replied he’s not available we are in working hours!!! In what restaurant have you ever been told you can’t speak to a manager in working hours!!! Security however told us they’d given our table away. Couldn’t fault security they was lovely gentlemen - one who even walked us round the corner to a different restaurant to get us in there. Whilst walking us round he said he did not agree with the hosts decision. The girls at reception of the new restaurant which has the same clientele of bagatelle was shocked and disgusted after hearing our experience. Bagatelle should be appalled to have a man in a leopard studded jacket (not classy or elegant) working front of house and treating young girls how he did. As said in this review security and no one else had a issue with how we was dressed and that wasn’t the reason why we couldn’t come in it was purely down to them giving our table away. The man who booked for us was shocked and embarrassed at how we was treated. So many more better places to go for celebrations so definitely avoid bagatelle!!!
Birthday ruined by a unprofessional patronising idiot
Came here on Saturday night for a joint birthday celebration. Confirmed with the restaurant on Friday night and also paid a £750 deposit before even getting to the restaurant. We made our booking via a friend who is close with the senior manager so we believed our booking was very much secure.Upon arrival a man greeted us very unprofessionally dressed to tell us our group has not met the dress code of classy and elegant while himself wearing a leopard print leather jacket that was studded. We was a group of mid 20 year old girls dolled up to the nines ready to celebrate a birthday so very much met the dress code requirements. We have already attended bagatelle before and had a great time so we very much know what the restaurant expect of us in terms of clothing. He was extremely rude , unprofessional, nasty and patronising. I’m quite shocked to believe that a restaurant like bagatelle would want such a person working on their door representing them. The security working that day was very kind , understanding and also vocalised how much he disagreed with his leopard print wearing colleague. This man who we spoke to on the door told us the manager had made the decision however we had not seen a manager at all the only person to have seen us was him. He failed to explain who it was specifically who didn’t meet the requirements and also refused to get the manager as he then proceeded to decide to tell us the manager wasn’t in ? We then spoke to another guy on the door who later admitted they gave the table away. So upon reflection the first leopard print wearing male was completely lying and making up excuses , clearly quite happy to make 5 girls feel awful about themselves to make his insecure self feel better because he can’t admit the restaurant just has simply let the table go. I cannot believe this has even happened to us and I’m utterly disgusted at the way we was treated especially on a birthday when we was very happy to spend money in their establishment. So clearly to sum this situation up unless your are pally pally with the owners or happy to spend tens of thousands don’t even bother trying to book a place at this restaurant.
High expectations and Big disappointment:(
Awful experience at our first time Bagatelle London on Friday, 22nd having the three of us dining there. A group of drunk men fighting near us.. one of the guys knocked the other out, shouting with failure security not taking any actions to keep us safe. A couple of drunk men with continued abuse and aggressive behaviour while we were trying to have dinner and enjoy the atmosphere. My 2 guests experienced one of the most terrifying dinning experience seeing a man lying on the floor unconscious after a fight just in front of our table. Unacceptable!!! Just Unacceptable awful experience. The waitress just apologised saying that it was a mistake from the security for letting it happen twice on the same night! I never seeing anything like this in such a high rated restaurant not even as dangerous places in the world such as Sao Paulo city in Brazil, the standards there were better and more secure than Bagatelle London. They asked for smart Elegant dress code.. we saw people there with Jeans, shirts, pullovers and tennis shoes all sporty smart trashy style! We were asking ourselves whats the point to be dressed up for this place? Do NOT recommend Bagatelle London and is NOT worth spending the money 👎🏼👎🏽👎🏼 Bagatelle London you disappointed me and my guests!!
Never again
Where do I even start? I went for dinner for a girls weekend a group of 4 and it was possibly the worst meal I’ve ever had and it was £205 per person for buffet food. In addition, the general manager, Alex, was ridiculously rude to us we were told ‘you pay for the atmosphere not the food’. We all left hungry due to the food being inedible. We would never usually do this but we did refuse to pay the service charge due to the service being SO SO bad to which the manger replied saying ‘well thanks your waitress won’t be getting paid now! Is that what you want?’ It was absolutely horrific and myself and my friends won’t be returning. As a result this completely ruined our evening. Below is a picture of our ham sandwich we paid £205 for.
Drinks were flowing, staff are amazing and the music is just fantastic! MUST ATTEND!
Great vibes, great staff you can’t ask for more. I would defiantly attend again. The drinks were flowing non stop and the music was just on point. I would 10000% attend again. But please send a special thank you to Allan - baldi on door who was just an absolute star of the night. Thank you for everything
Girls night out
Birthday meal, wide selection on menu with pastas, fish & meats but we actually never ended up staying as they had messed up our booking and instead of trying to find a solution, the staff where really rude, In the end they put us on a table right in front of the music stand, which wasn’t great. So we got up and left and they didn’t care. Needless to say we won’t be going back !
Complete Disappointment
Having frequented many high end Mayfair restaurants over the past two decades, my friend and I were excited for our first visit to Bagatelle. Unfortunately we will not be returning. Despite the restaurant being only 20% full at 7pm, we were sat behind the DJ booth at a really awkward table. We had the table until 9pm but from 8.25pm we were told numerous times to hurry up as they needed the table back for a 9pm reservation. The lamb chops were 90% fat - next to no actual meat on them. When our food arrived, the server accidentally dropped some fries on the floor (not an issue whatsoever as accidents happen) however these were not replaced and no apology offered. The atmosphere was stale and not at all what we were expecting. For the price point, there are numerous better options within Mayfair which offer better customer service and far better quality of food.
Pretentious. Average food. Overpriced. Unwelcoming.
On arrival ou are made to stand in a queue (it was raining) to get in as if its a nightclub Bouncers standing behind a rope vetting guest's reservation on their phones. Extremely demeaning unwelcoming greeting process. You are then ushered to a " reservation desk ". We wanted to sit at the bar and have a drink while we waited for our friend. We were literally requested every few minutes to go to our table. I counted 5 times. The food is average and overpriced. The only positive was that the waiters were pleasant. To be avoided !!,
Don’t go there
Terrible restaurant with the worst meet and greet experience. Like queuing for a nightclub out on the street in the pouring rain even when you have a reservation! Average food with ridiculous prices. Will never go back
Great
I love dining while being entertained and bagatelle is the perfect place! I had some pizza, buttata and spaghetti.. everything was so tasty and the cocktails great too!
Zero stars would be kind - disgusting food.
Came here for a friend’s birthday in September and firstly, a large group of girls in the queue before us were turned away because of one of their outfits, which immediately got my back up. We weren’t with them but could hear what the door staff were saying as it was not very discreetly communicated and came across badly. Secondly, the food was absolutely DIABOLICAL. Most of us had a ‘salad’ for starter and it was literally a bowl of lettuce leaves?… as in, not a single other vegetable and it was covered in a cheap, nasty caesar salad dressing. One bite was enough to make you gag. The main course tasted exactly like a tin of Heinz spaghetti, totally disgusting and not one of us enjoyed a single dish of our 3 courses. I do not understand how the venue has the audacity to charge even a single penny for the food we had as you could not pay me to eat that again. To add insult to injury, I also had to taste it twice after throwing it back up because it was so disgusting. Notwithstanding the above, the waiting staff were very attentive and probably the only thing that is propping that venue up, the atmosphere of the venue was also good. The girls that were turned away at the beginning didn’t miss anything as they’d have had a nicer meal if they ate a dead rat off the street and that’s being kind to say the least. Also worth knowing, to book a table my friend had to send a selfie in for approval to eat there, LOL.
Can I give ZERO stars?
I was looking forward to celebrate my 40s birthday at the venue. I’d emailed the reservations team with 7 weeks in advance and I was informed that for bookings with less than 15 people I needed to contact them one month in advance of the date. I did date, and for my surprise the only table available they could provide it was for 7PM for 2 hours. I thought it was ridiculous, I tried with 2 months to get a table for 8:30 and then one month before as they requested there was nothing available? I doubt that the place was fully booked for an event. The reservations team is horrible and definitely I don’t feel that they treat people with respect. I definitely DON’T recommend anyone to go in this place! If I could I would give ZERO stars.
Do you love fillers, live for selfies and wish you looked like a Kardashian? This place is for you
Never seen a restaurant so full of Kardashian wannabes full of filler and killer pouts. Woman sitting alone, whilst waiting for a friend, filming herself singing to an ABBA song. Pouting. A lot. Pretty much sums this restaurant up. Over £1250 for 2 people. All shared dishes. Mostly Middle Eastern clientele and if you’re over 35’ish they will want you out pretty quick’ish. The food? Unremarkable. Wagu was good but for £1250+, it should have been unforgettable. Oh, and for any newbies…the high service charge is not considered the tip by your waiter, even though it should be. Be warned.
Dinner
Best atmosphere with great customer service and experience. The music was so good and the food amazing 😉
Overrated & Overpriced
Not worth the hassle! Basic food stupidly expensive, staff are extremely rude also never going back there, they ruined my birthday celebration.
SUPERB FOOD, SERVICE AND ATMOSPHERE
Went there last week for business and were treated to truly extraordinary food and service. I wondered how I had not heard of this before. We had 5 men (inculding our waiter) checking on our table, without it being too much. Genuinely interested and interesting staff. The retsaurant tries to make itself memorable by being full-on - the food, the decor, the profusion of staff, and if you're there on music night, the sounds. It was great. The only thing I would recommend after reading the other reviews is this: dress and act for the occasion. The people who work there are putting on a glamourous theatre of a restaurant (wtih great food) and I suspect they understandably react best to people who make as much of an effort as they do. But I would go there just for the food. What at treat it was!
DISGUSTING SERVICE!
A group of me and 10 friends attended bagatelle on Saturday the 24th. Our table was booked for 19:30 and we arrived around 19:15, on arrival we asked to use the toilet after a long journey bur was refused and was asked to come back at the time our table was booked for
Awful customer service
My friend made a reservation for Sunday mass at Bagatelle, we arrived 15 minutes early for the table and the restaurant was not open the woman on the door said to come back in 15 minutes. We went to another bar within these 15 minutes to order drinks and went back up bagatelle at 730, the same lady who told us to come back was at the door and said that my friend could not get in due to her outfit, why did she not mention this before? She was very rude and looked down her nose at every single one of us. I will not be returning to this place due to the rudeness of the woman on the door. We went across to mnky house who accommodated us a table for 11 people and had no issue with what my friend was wearing. I’ve read several reviews about the lady on the door and it looks like a few people have had the same issue, such a shame that nothing has been done about this.
