A very good meal
We found the food here to be expertly prepared. Our server provided us with very professional service. The place is a tad pricey but well worth the visit.
Be the first to ReplyDefinitely worth the hype!!!
This place is definitely worth the hype!!! It was excellent. The drinks and food were amazing. Loved everything about it. Was hands down the best meal in Palm Springs.
Be the first to ReplyGreat restaurant in Palm Springs
We had dinner here tonight. My brother in law has recommended this place. I made reservation a month ago. We sat the patio. It was heated so it wasnāt bad. The ambiance was really nice. We like everything that we ordered. One of the owners came to our table to say thank you near the end. That was a nice touch.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing meal! Must do in Palm Springs (but be sure to make a reservation or have patience)
We had an amazing meal at Bar Cecil while visiting Palm Springs. We weren't on top of things enough to make a reservation, but we did know walking in wouldn't be a given. They opened at 5p and we arrived between 430-445p, and we were already too late...first seating at the bar was already full. Luckily we weren't starving (yet) and they had a lovely fire pit and seating area, so we waited. Estimated seating time was 630p (which ended up being accurate). Sadly there's no drink service outside and you do have to stay or you lose your spot, but we felt it was totally worth the wait. We shared: - bread rolls with date sage butter as I'd read it shouldn't be missed, and they were right. Don't miss out on this pillowy bread with amazing butter - grilled artichoke, which was good but nothing special. I would replace if we go back - escargots we're very good, and I love the old school presentation in the shells - cacio e pepe, as I'd read the pasta (regardless of what is was) also shouldn't be missed... Again, totally agree. Pasta was perfectly al dente and the sauce was perfect - the burger, again something we read couldn't be missed and again... correct. One of my top 5 burger experiences ever, and absolutely the best presentation The wine and drinks were also very good, but honestly can't remember them over the food. Sadly we were too full for dessert. Lastly, service was outstanding! Our bartender was A very, and he was on point, making our experience perfect. Highly recommend checking this place out...just be sure to either get a reservation or have patience.

What a phenomenal experience. Awesome cocktails, delectable food, and outstanding ambience created a perfect experience. The Caramelized onion tart was superb. The roasted chicken was so moist, packed with flavor, and the best I've ever tasted. The pork chop was smoked, juicy, and amazing. The lemon tart and sundae was a perfect ending.
Be the first to ReplyVisiting from UK. 10 out 10. Highly recommend this restaurant
Visited this restaurant for dinner and drinks on a Sunday evening. Great atmosphere, the friendliest staff who made us feel so welcome, great food and good selection of cocktails/drinks. I highly recommend this restaurant/bar. Special shout out to our server (think her name was Deeā¦she definitely made our night).
Be the first to ReplyHusband is still talking about that burger
Managed to score a dinner reservation for the patio and it did not disappoint. The patio seating is comfortable and has a nice ambience, especially when it gets dark. All service was friendly and welcoming; our server was super nice and knowledgeable but very busy, so at times we had to flag him down, but other than that we thought the quality of the food and drinks were fantastic. Standouts were the deviled eggs appetizer, the pork chop, the burger, and the chocolate-chip cookies. I thought my husband would order the filet but he went with the burger, and by darn a week later he's still talking about how good that burger was. We also enjoyed the Old Cuban Regal and Caldwell drinks quite a bit, though there really isn't a bad one in the bunch. It was a meal on the pricier side (it did hurt a little to shell out $24 for each Old Cuban) but you can't say we didn't enjoy everything start to finish.

Finally set my alarm to make a reservation for Bar Cecil and it was well worth it! Wonderful cocktails, food, service and such surprising art. Can't wait to come back to try more of the delicious food!

A well designed space with an adult vibe, eclectic menu formulated with all diners in mind. Solid wine list and great cocktail selection. Well trained service oriented team members that will ensure a terrific dining experience. Josh, a great asset to the front line management team. Cheers to the owners, you have done it right!
Be the first to ReplyWonderful experience at Bar Cecil
My wife and I had a wonderful experience at Bar Cecil. The decor is outstanding, only out done by the quality of our meal. One of the best meals weāve had in years at a restaurant. The service was on point and the cocktails were delicious. We can not wait till we have an opportunity to be in Palm Springs again to experience this fine restaurant!!
Be the first to ReplyBest Date Night Restaurant in Palm Springs
We love having special date nights at Bar Cecil. Although a bit tardy, we had the most romantic and fun dinner on Valentineās Day 2023. As always, the food and service were outstanding. The evening was extra special with a Valentineās menu, free flowers, and candy too. The owners were in attendance, making their rounds ensuring everything was perfect. We highly recommend Bar Cecil for those special occasions. Also, the bar area is always so much fun. ā¤ļøš„š

Excellent service. Show up before 5pm to get on the short waitlist. Takes advance reservations otherwise. Delicious cocktails (black sesame) and a date and sage butter that is to die for. Trumpet mushrooms and risotto for a delightful vegan entree.

We walked into the restaurant we no preconceived idea of what to expect. We were visiting a local and she had made reservations and gave us no preamble. Its small; it's intimate. The menu is hardly comprehensive yet easily covered the dietary requirements of a very picky group. I had their vesper martini; a cocktail I've sampled across the globe, and this one was excellent. What I loved about the service was the cadence...from the cocktails to the appetizers, to the entrees to dessert, the pace was conducive to a unhurried, welcoming dining experience. We started with the artichoke; I had the mussels as a main meal and my companions both had the trumpet mushrooms. The mussels were perfect . We shared the McConnells sundae because we could; nit because we needed it. This is place is a real dining experience; bigger than the food; bigger than the ambiance. Can't wait to go back
Be the first to ReplyExcellent service & very good food
We have been twice now. We also really love the library bar ambience inside, though there is very limited seating. The outdoor dining is nicely lit and warm enough on a cool evening. You must have a reservation - don't think you will walk up and get a table, except for the bar seating, which is really only conducive to conversation for a twosome. Decent cocktail and martini list, plus a full bar. Also a corkage fee if you bring your own wine (we did, so we did not even see wine list). Grilled artichokes are nice, though had almost no heart - and you do have to pull off the leaves to scrape your teeth for a nibble. Onion tart tasty and much more than just onion. Didn't think the rolls were worth it. Mussels when we had them were fantastic (last month). Fish rillettes were very good, too. The pork chop really is excellent, the mushroom risotto good. Scallops also excellent, although pricey at just three to an order. Best way to eat is family style - you really should try everything! We were too full for dessert both times. Plenty of parking in the strip center.
Be the first to ReplyGot Food Poisoning. They Did Not Care.
I ordered the mussels, and got terrible food poisoning immediately afterwards. I understand that sometimes happens, and was not planning to write a review. However, I sent them a very polite email the next morning, and left a voicemail, letting them know what happened, just to make sure they were aware, and to help provide any additional info that might help them figure out the cause and prevent it from happening again. They never bothered to respond. If someone gets you violently sick, it seems reasonable to expect that they might have some curiousity about it (let alone any concern). There are plenty of other expensive restaurants in Palm Springs that are safer bets, and care more about their patrons.
Be the first to ReplySublime dining experience
Having heard about Bar Cecil for more than two years (they opened a few months before COVID), I was anxious to give it a try. With āseasonā in full swing, table seating was booked out 30 days. I decided to arrive an hour early and to put my name on the bar waitlist, which was the best decision ever! From the moment we were escorted to our seats the Bar Cecil experience truly exceeded our expectations. The bar staff worked in perfect harmony with one another, as did the floor staff. From the gorgeous glassware to the beautifully curated French bistro decor, everything was top class. We started with drinks. Mine was a tequila creation that was topped with a āfoamā made using Cointreau and egg whites with a shaving of fresh lime on top. Blissful! The onion tart is to die for! Baked to perfection, it was the stuff dreams are made of. I ordered the bone-in pork chop and asked that it be served āmedium rare, but on the ārare sideā so that the meat was moist.ā No other restaurant has ever been able to achieve this! The pork chop I ordered at Bar Cecil was beyond perfection! Not once did we feel rushed while we slowly dined and enjoyed an evening out. The overall pace and vibe of the restaurant was akin to a fine tuned orchestra. One of the finest dining experiences Iāve ever had. Anywhere. I will definitely be back! Probably next week!
Be the first to ReplyWhat is all the fuss about??
On our last trip to Palm Springs, everyone was raving about Bar Cecil and said if we could snag a reservation the next time we were in town we would be very impressed. As soon as I had confirmed my trip dates, I tried to reserve a table online. I did wait until 30 days before to begin. The reservations were not as hard tomake as I was led to believe. My story of dining at Bar Cecil will begin at the host table. We were warmly greeted, but were treated differently than the other, obviously known, patrons. We were made to wait for our table outside in the cold, but was able to move to the fire pit after the large group left. The host finally seated us at a table in the very loud bar area by a door to the outside eating area. There were several cozy looking booths along the wall that I asked if we could be seated at and was rudely informed that they were reserved. Well, I made a reservation and did not see a box to check for a booth! So, another negative if you are not a regular. Our waiter was in training, which would have been fine if the person training checked with us to see how things were going. The menu is limited, but we both found things to our liking. I had the Cacio e Pepe which was very good and seasoned well without being too peppery. However, the artichokes to start were eh and the Parker rolls good, but they are extra. Bar Cecil is very expensive, has a very chic decor, but I don't think it is worth all the hype. More of a place to be scene and known and that is not my cup of tea. I prefer great food, service, and all patrons are treated like gold (special). The chocolate chip cookie and coffee were very good, but not enough to elevate my rating.
Be the first to ReplyVery poor service - food okay
Dined with friends. Ordered oysters as a starter. I waited while everyone else got their starters and ate. Finally the mains were served and we were told that the kitchen was too busy to shuck the oysters! The server had attitude and when we told him that, if told, we could have made another choice, he got upset. This was our fourth time here, and the last! Not a great experience.
Be the first to ReplyA truly memorable evening.
This was to be a special meal - my son and I were meeting up with friends who Iād known for 40 years but hadnāt seen in 7 years, back in The U.K. As soon as I read about āBar Cecilā I knew it was the place - so long as it lived up to its reviews. I only booked 3 weeks before and understandably I couldnāt reserve an inside table - any other time of the year I wouldnāt have got a table at all. I booked for 17.30, a senior moment meant that we turned up at 7.30 and I totally expected to be turned away (you would be in London) but the reception were were so sweet and miraculously found us a table. We started with cocktails, the French 75 was the best ever, a Martini, a Pina Colada and an Lillet Blanc (or equivalent) for the my guests, a caramelised onion tart was perfect, devilled eggs o.k, needed a touch more mustard/paprika for me and sadly, the oysters a little disappointing; the waitress did warn us they were going to be small however if Iād known, I might have chosen differently. To follow, we all had the Steak Frites and we were not disappointed, oh my days, everyoneās was completely delicous, accompanied by a lovely Rhone, a 2019 Gigondas from Domaine Santa Duc. The desserts were sensational, Anistonās Pavlova looked quite homely but when I split it it was full of raspberries and the most delicious meringue, quite perfect and the Expresso Martinis were gorgeous. I should also say that service was great - friendly yet professional. A special and truly memorable evening, thank you.
Be the first to ReplyToo much hype for a dull menu with few offerings
We were looking for a great fun place to bring friends for dinner & drinks, and a friend managed to get us a table at this very hard to get into place. I must admit the staff were excellent, very attentive and accommodating. But the selection of offerings wasnāt remotely interesting at all. One Chicken dish, steak & frites, one fish dish, which they did not have on a Friday, and two pastas. The food was fine, but not terribly interesting nor special.
People talk about the interior being unique & special. Yes, there was a lot of art on the walls with some interesting woodwork, but there was a lot of unnecessarily loud wallpaper, much of it green which never goes well with dining. They made the tables too small for four to sit comfortably, this was apparent at the booths as well. Outside looked a bit more spacious, and would have been more comfortable as the AC was on too high for good comfort.
The waitress did a very nice job, friendly, fun & helpful, and the bartender came by to accommodate our friendās unique request, which was appreciated. Drinks were good, and nicely potent. But I wouldnāt go out of my way to go back unless the menu is upgraded with more offerings, and something a bit more special.
PEOPLE ARE WAITING CANE YOU LEAVE NOW?
Arrived at 5:15 PM., party of 4 inside. Seated promptly. Restaurant too warm. Whereās the air? 10 minutes for a waitress to appear. Advised of specials, took drink order, another 10 minute wait. Ordered a G&T. Came with a lemon. Who serves a lemon with G and T? 5 more minutes for a redo.
Asked if we were ready to order. Asked for another few minutes. Returned, took orders.
Long wait for food. Ordered more drinks. All of the appetizers and entrees were served at different times. Terrible service. We decided to begin eating since food was warm.
Enjoyed our dinnerā¦pork chop tender and well cooked but desperate for a seasoning for flavor. Bland!
Vodka Pasta, Cheeseburger and Ratouille just OK. Can get this anywhere.
Finishing up with dinner. Waitress NEVER offered coffee or dessert. After waiting through long service lapses for drinks and food she wanted nothing more than to get rid of us. She actually said that we had been there 2.5 hours, that was their limit and other people were waiting for our table. First of all the time was 7:40 PMā¦technically we had 5 minutes by their clock.
Because of incompetence in service WE were told to leave. Never been told to vacate because I had overstayed my time. We drank, ate and weāre preparing to leave prior to being told to.
Will NEVER go to this restaurant again. Money grubbing restaurants with poor service not my style. We paid almost $300 for four people and treated like we were at fast food.
Get over yourselves.
Stylin' and lots of fun
We had a really great time w/ the in-laws at this popular dinner spot. It almost felt like being at a party, with the lively atmosphere, fun crowd and upbeat servers. Their version of Cacio e Pepeāone of my very favorite dishesāis particularly lovely. Also: the room and even restrooms are beautifully art-directedāyou get atmosphere in spades! This is the best overall restaurant I've visited in Palm Springs in a long time.

My friends raved about the steak frites and bucatini. My Michter manhattan was the best I've ever had. The Cecil rolls are tasty, but should be gratis. I looked forward to the roast chicken as I had read it was a specialty of the chef and that he often tweaked the recipe. It was unmemorably tough and tasteless. A real disappointment. The onion tart was tasty but unpleasant in appearance. We do first eat with our eyes. So, it's a mixed bag. Incredible vibe and atmosphere, but hit and miss with the menu.

Fantastic Bar Cecil
What a wonderful experience we had at dinner. The food was excellent. We started with the caramelized onion tart and the big & juicy shrimp cocktail. Delicious! For entrees, I had the perfectly cooked & seasoned halibut and my husband had the chicken, which was moist and savory. Outstanding. The place is lively & energetic, but we could still converse easily across our table. Great service as well.
Bar Cecil would get 6 stars if available. Itās that good.
