Lack Of Style And Substance
The last visit on our trip before heading back to our hotel and the airport, I was intrigued by the design of this place with it's link to Wes Anderson the director, even though I'm not a fan of his films I thought it would be an interesting place to visit. The bar is a little out of the main city and located in what looks a little like an office district and not really well signposted to the point we walked past it a couple of times. When we finally got in the decor was nice and gave off that 50's America vibe. We went to order and were pretty much ignored by the staff behind the counter until we got their attention. We had a couple of Aperol Spritz, a couple of cokes and a pair of Ice Lollies with it being a warm day. This came to in the region of ยฃ30.00 which wasn't cheap. We sat in a couple of chairs with little tablets that you pull in front of you to put your drinks, a table then came available so we moved to it at which point one of the waiters pointed out pretty dismissively we needed to pay table service to sit there, 25% even though we got our drinks ourselves. Do I recommend going here, no there are many better places to go to, this offers nothing other than a mildly diverting appearance and a feeling that you are disturbing people at their job.
Be the first to ReplyUnderwhelming and Overglorified Pitstop
The experience is pretty underwhelming, thereโs way better, more Wes Anderson - ish bars around Milan compared to this one. Basically a glorified cafe for the Fondazione Prada. Service staff were poor, they were standing around and chatting, the environment didnโt feel really welcoming. Hot chocolate and croissant we had was good, nothing to shout about. Also what was the point of the pin ball machines if they are not plugged in? Glorified decorations. Save the trip not worth going all the way just for the cafe.

A classic Italian bar designed by Wes Anderson. What more can you ask for? Itโs a popular destination so plan to wait or go at an off time if you want a table.
Be the first to ReplyAttempt to get in. Big fail!!!
I came with my friends in early 2022 on the weekend. We wanted to visit the Prada Foundation and didn't manage because of personal issues. We then wanted to get into this beautiful bar. We have encountered a horrendous exchange with a staff member. This middle-aged man was slamming and locking the door in front of us, not letting us in. A couple of minutes passed and reopened the door. We tried to get information on why he wouldn't let us in. Instead of simply explaining, he started yelling at us that we had to wait. On the third time opening the door, we gently explained that we could go there to spend money, but he just kept on yelling jibberish. In conclusion, we waited 15 minutes outside with no further information. Coming from a Hospitality Management and Business School, we were very shocked and disgusted by this poor experience. Do not recommend it.

The bar is beaaaautiful! We went here because we knew it was designed by Wes Anderson and even if it's a little out of the way, it was worth it! What an unique experience!
Be the first to ReplyAwful experience and 0 Star Service
Went hoping for an interesting experience and ended up paying over the odds for a drink/ sandwich and then never received food. The bar staff and waiters are essentially incompetent, and the whole experience essentially felt like you were in a laughable scene from a Wes Anderson movie, and the staff did not understand what they were supposed to be doing. Whilst there someone dropped a glass on the floor but this was ignored by staff for some time who made no effort to clean the spill up safely or remove the glass, terrible. The whole experience was a very disappointing departure to what was expected and I must recommend that you don't bother attending unless you wish to waste time and money in an otherwise very interesting and experiential location. 0 stars if I were able.
Be the first to ReplyReally cool but a little underwhelming
On my trio to Milan this was a must see as a fan of the Wes Anderson film, The Grand Budapest Hotel.
It is located in the grounds of a museum and is not a free standing venue but rather fits into the artsy vibe in which it is situated.
The bar/cafe itself is small but decorated well and is quite the experience. It is very busy so getting the photo ops takes a little time. The coffee was reasonably priced with an espresso coming in about โฌ1.
If you like the film it's worth the visit. If you are on the fence I'm not sure.
"No Single"
since I have moved to Italy I would love to visit here cause of Wes Anderson. I think Bar Luce and workers do not like single people. you should insist for a table. they give me a chairxtable that is uncomfortable when you have a bag and a winter coat etc. I should invite some homeless people next time if I want to drink a warm cup of coffee.
