Yesterday I had dinner with my boyfriend and was amazing!! We totally recommend the "Paella Salvaje"! It brought us back to when we lived in Spain for 5 years. Our waiter was on point and make our night very pleasant. He gave us full recommendation for tapas such as "patatas bravas, croquetas, bikini and tortilla" For drinks we recommend going with the Red Sangria! We will definitely recommend anyone coming to Boston to live this Spanish food experience.

... We have been going here for the past 4 years and each time it gets better. Whether you sit inside or out it's all the same.. great! The place is loud and reservation is a MUST. Big full bar with many selections. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Priced right and I have never had a meal I didn't truly enjoy. They give you one of the best pieces of bread you will ever eat. Some of our favorites.... Steak taretare, warm ricotta w/ honey, humus, mussels, shrimp etc. Don't miss out on this place and the Olive Oil cake is the bomb.

they do not honor reservations! we had a reservation for 7:30, and we were not sat until much passed 8pm. It was completely unbelievable, and the hostess was not even remotely apologetic. awful awful awful

Barcelona has always been one of my favorite spots in the South End, but the past two times I've been, the music has been way too loud. I'm not sure what vibe Barcelona is trying to create these days, but both times they were blasting club music at a volume that made it too loud to comfortably converse. I like to go to Barcelona to enjoy delicious tapas and a glass or two of sangria while I catch up with friends or family, and it's no longer a spot I'm able to do that. The food and drinks have always been great and service friendly. The customer demographic doesn't seem to have changed, so it is disappointing (and confusing) to see Barcelona trying to create a "going out/party" vibe with the aggressive music at what used to be a dependable fine dining establishment.

I visited this restaurant with a 6 PM reservation on a Wednesday night, and the place was absolutely packed! I highly recommend making reservations beforehand; otherwise, you can definitely expect a wait. The ambiance was also great--I loved the décor and the overall vibe. My friends and I shared a white wine sangria pitcher (4/5) and ordered a variety of dishes from the tapas menu. We tried the patatas bravas (5/5), eggplant caponata (5/5), hummus (3/5), grilled chicken thigh (4/5), and meatballs (5/5). The stars of the show were definitely the patatas bravas and the eggplant caponata. Both were bursting with flavor, and I would return just for those two dishes alone. They are a MUST-TRY.

We were a party of 15 last Sunday afternoon, including 2 young children during a busy time in Boston (Pride parade). Ivonne took care of us in an outstanding manner. The food was excellent as usual, and we had a great time! This is a favorite spot for our group.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding from the time we walked in until we left.
The host was extremely friendly as soon as we walked in. We were sat quickly and immediate approached by our waiter with water. The drink menu was excellent. They had a good mix of cocktails and wine flights which were very affordable considering the area and level of the restaurant. Our party of 5 had about 12 excellent tapas for the table. The dates wrapped in bacon were a favorite of everyone. Our server forgot to bring one of our plates and ended up comping us for it. It wasn't necessary was was a nice gesture. Highly recommend

First time and we love it Jaime provided exceptional service during our visit. His wine recommendations were spot on, and he made sure we had a fantastic dining experience. and recommended his fav dishes like the gambas and scallops lambs ribs, sea food paella and lot more! Despite being busy, he was always attentive and even surprised us with his favorite dessert, the olive oil cake. Jaime's knowledge and personal touch truly made our evening unforgettable.
Be the first to ReplyFood is amazing and so is the vibe.
Just be prepared to wait for a table, even if you made a reservation there's a short wait. Just relax and have a drink! It's worth the wait. Get the vegetable paella and the red sangria!!

Wow this place is incredible! Food, service, wine, the vibe! I walked in by myself at 9:30pm. The place was packed. I really wanted to eat here. The manager, Matt, helped me find a spot at the bar. The bartender, Alyssa, was attentive and prompt. This is one of the best dining experiences I've ever had! The food was incredible. Especially the croquettes!

The white and red sangrias are great - I love the addition of Saint Germain. Great place for tapas, I especially love the sauce of the mussels, patatas bravas, and the verde sauce on the chicken thigh. The complimentary bread is also amazing and baked fresh and steaming on the way to the table. Service was great and there are always lots of people there so be sure to get a reservation or you may have to wait a bit.

Service was amazing, food was delicious and the sangria was refreshing. Jose, the manager, fixed a small issue quickly and professionally. Highly recommend and will definitely visit again. Would request Johnathan as our server again - he was amazing!

We have been to the BWB in both Brookline and Cambridge so we chose the Southend spot to bring family visiting from Manhattan. We made reservations for a Friday at 7:15 PM absolutely expecting it to be a lively atmosphere as we had experienced at the other locations. Upon arrival, our table for 6 was not ready so we tried to stay out of the way as there wasn't anywhere to wait. Wait staff struggled to squeeze through the crowd with food and drinks as the entrance was packed with waiting patrons. We all leaned up against a bookshelf partition between a booth and the walkway near the hostess station. Unfortunately it quickly became a bad scenario. It was SO blaringly loud that you couldn't hear each other speak. Suddenly we felt the shelf behind us move and we saw an employee sitting on the top shelf pouring drinks into patron's mouths who were standing nearby. Some in our group were turned off by this and concerned that the shelf could tip over or at least some of the many items on the shelves. A few minutes later we were told that our table was ready. We made our way to a table on the other side of the bar area. It was a booth that didn't seem large enough to accommodate our group and still extremely loud. It was would have been impossible to have a conversation with anyone. Our out of town guests turned around and said that they were done and we could go back to our hotel bar. As we made our way out and down the street, an employee came after us and spoke to 2 from our party saying he could seat us farther away in the dining room. At that point we'd already been turned off by the experience and made our way back to the hotel. As mentioned before we expected a fun and lively atmosphere but when it's as raucous and loud as a dance club, that's not what we wanted in a family reunion. You need to be able to eat and converse and it would not have been possible here.

Everything was terrific! We went home and found several of the tapas recipes online and will try them out in our own homes. Standouts were the spinach and chickpeas, the gambas, and eggplant tapinade. We had wonderful service and the ambience was lively. Totally recommend this spot for a tasty experience

Who cares about the food when you can't even think straight with blasting loud music. Restaurant or nightclub? Pretty sure it's just a nightclub.

Danielo is a hero of a server! Crowded and loud on a Thursday night, our table was amost 30 minutes late... but for good reason! Danielo took great care of us, and we were stuffed by just the tapas. $50 of food and $50 of the Guns n Roses carafe hit the spot perfectly.

Love this place! Went last night to celebrate a friend's birthday and as always the staff and bartenders were so nice! We sat at the bar and got attended right away. They brought us bread (which is arguably some of the best bread in Boston) and constantly refilled our sangria glasses until our pitcher was done. Food is also so good! It is tapas style, so highly recommend you order a few plates for the table and share. The music was great. A lot of throwbacks, so the vibes were great! At some point "Pepas" came on and the general manager started getting into tables and pouring people shots. It was honestly a great experience! Sorry, I have no pictures of the food/drinks but I highly recommend the Gambo Al ajillo (similar to a shrimp scampi), the Jamon Serrano + manchego croquetas, patatas bravas, and the white wine sangria!
Be the first to Reply(Table of two friday night) Food - It was excellent.
The tapas were great, the patatas bravas were excellent and just like Barcelona. The carrots were okay, not quite cooked enough in my opinion and could've been more flavorful- the purple ones were too raw / hard. Mushrooms were excellent. Paella was great (Mariscos) Wine - the wine was great and the server was very knowledgeable. The wines were fun and the extensive selection made it fun for someone experienced or newbies. The set flights were good, we tried the bio curious and they were excellent and diverse. The barcava cava was excellent but for a Barcelona wine bar you'd expect more cava selections than 2/3, so that is one complaint i have. Service - the hosts were kind. We were late for our reservation and they still got us sat within 20 minutes which was appreciated and communicated well! I wish they would tell people not to wait inside though but again not their fault. Server was attentive but could've checked up more, however another server or employee checked on us and got us more wine when we ran out and the prebussing was fast which was great. Ambiance - it was a bit loud and squished but still relatively intimate, good for younger people date nights or small groups. For a wine bar it was pretty lit and crowded but that just something to consider, it wasn't negative! Overall 4/5 stars, for the price the food could've been more impressive but it was excellent and i would dine again.
Be the first to ReplySuper good tapas and drinks, except the steak paillard.
That was over cooked and vinegary. We recommend the tuna crudo, idziabal and Jamon, the house made ricotta. The tortilla was a slice. And the gambas were delicious. Their bread was good and crunchy. Our server left us at end of his shift without a check which was confusing. Have the guns and roses cocktail.
Be the first to ReplyLive nearby and love the concept and stopping in for a meal.
Very well managed. Seems everyone on top of their game and responsibile for their role. Waitress was impressive, after mentioning we had been there many times before, she shifted gears and conversation was based on experience. Seems I am not the only person who likes it. Very crowded early and very noisy to the point hard to hear each other. Also thought quality of dishes were slightly off. But overall, always better than most and worth a visit to decide for yourself. Would have given 5 stars but was better in previous visits.
Be the first to ReplyThis is a club experience different from other locations.
I've been to several other locations in MA and other states and think the food is always spot on and the ambiance is usually pretty chill. Just here to call out this location's ambiance is different so people know what's up! We went on a Sunday night and the music was so loud and was playing early 2000s bangers like GET LOW like it was a club. I would have loved it if I had gone there to dance. But I went for a nice dinner and I was trying to actually hear others at dinner and this made it near impossible. The vibe was also clearly different from other locations - they had waiters standing on tables pouring liquor into peoples mouths. I could see it being fun for a young couple on a date, but taking my family there was a mistake :)
Be the first to ReplyAnother one of my favorites in Boston.
I love taking friends and family here because it's perfect for sharing since it's tapa style. First off, the complimentary bread is always on point here. Always served hot with a side of olive oil. And when they serve good bread, you know it's going to be a good meal! Some of my faves: - Patatas Bravas (#1 MUST ORDER) - Jamon and Manchego Croquettes - Spiced Beef Empanadas - Albondigas - Spinach & Chickpea Cazuela We've ordered half paella mariscos and paella verduras before, and they were giant portions meant for 3-4 people at least, and was pretty average. So I usually stick with the tapas listed above.
Be the first to ReplyA nice evening restaurant/bar and popular date night
A nice evening restaurant/bar and popular date night location. Highly recommend making a reservation because it was PACKED on a Saturday night! Potato Tortilla Tortas - 4/5 One order of these can serve 2 people! I really liked the potato, chives and sour cream combo. It was also really filling, so can't go wrong there! Paella Verduras (Full Plate) - 4/5 This was one of the "Large Plate" menu items, so it took about 45 minutes to be cooked. It's a freshly cooked meal of rice, cauliflower, and turnips and celery roots served on a hot pan. It was pretty good as well and the serving size was huge! Chocolate Cake: 3/5 Probably my least favorite of the 3 items we got. It was pretty much your average chocolate cake, nothing mind-blowing. It was also a little small for the price ($9). Service was great and everything went smoothly. Would come back again!
