Eccentric wine couplings with the 7 'moment' dinner.
The white Azore's wine was almost devoid of flavor. The orange wine from Georgia was virtually unsinkable. The food however although eccentric in itself was notable for introducing us to flavors and combinations that startled and thrilled. $500 for two of us should have provided wines at least as good as the two reds that came with the meat dish.

A lovely experience for me and my Boubou! BouBou’s was a last minute arrangement. I was eyeing up this restaurant and had been two minds due to negative comments. We had booked a restaurant but on the day received a text saying they could only take Portuguese cards or cash. Took a leap of faith and booked BouBou’s and so glad we did! The restaurant has a very natural floral feel to the room making it feel romantic and was perfect for our last night. The staff were welcoming and looked after us well. We opted for the 10 course tasting menu which was fantastic. Creative, colourful and flavourful. Each course was a delight- we didn’t want it to end! We opted for just a glass of red, white and bubbles with our meal together with a dessert wine. The sommelier advised us well. Dish highlights for us were the cauliflower & caviar flower, the pasta dish and the lamb. The desserts were also a hit! It wasn’t cheap but it was a special night for us. A lovely experience for a special treat.

TRAVELERS AVOID - We couldn't make our reservation due unforeseen travel delays. We gave them more than a days notice that we couldn't make it. NO EXCEPTION and arrogantly stated we didn't honor our reservation and charged FULL PRICE! Maybe the meal is good? I will never know as we will avoid this casa de merda as long as the earth continues to spin. Many reviewers have the same story - heed their call!
Top Chef in Lisboa !
Well known as the topchef context winner in 2022, Louise Bourat's restaurant, called Boubou, was in the plans of our visit to Lisbonne for my birthday. We have been really impressed by the creativity and the flavors of all the plates proposed (we went for the 10 plates menu), more expensive of course, but really worth it. You are there only once in a lifetime. The pairing with the wines is just a killer. everything was perfect & stratospheric. We could speak French to exchange on the plates, which is also an added value. Everybody speaks english anyway, so no issue to get understood. I really recommend Count 500 euros for 2, but it really worth the experience !! tx François
What a delightful restaurant.
It is much more than just a delicious meal, it is an amazing experience. The restaurant is on a quiet street in the Principe Real neighborhood. The physical space is very inviting. It is a cozy and intimate space with delightful decor that makes you feel like you are eating in an outdoor garden. It is casual yet elegant. While I saw some reviews that staff the staff is not attentive, we found just the opposite to be true. The staff to patron ratio is very high and they were super pleasant, friendly and attentive from greeting at the door to the end of the meal. They serve either a seven or ten course tasting menu. We opted for the 7 course meal without wine pairing but the sommelier was so helpful and knowledgeable to help us picked out from a few great options to pair with our dishes. Eta v course was a beautiful blend of tastes and textures and a visual treat (especially the sardine, which was a piece of art and delicious). The wines paired perfectly with the food. The staff explained each dish as it came. As I mentioned earlier, this is an experience, not just a meal. The 7 course tasting menu took over 2 hours to serve, which was the right pace. The staff was extremely attentive throughout. If you are looking for a unique, enjoyable dining experience, this is the place to go.

Left in fate's hands, I somehow stumbled on BouBou's not knowing what I was getting into. I asked the hotel I was at for a "nice meal" and they made me a reservation for me, alone at this great place. When I walked into the nondescript place I was immediately met by the bartender and host who knew 5 languages and mixed me up a concoction off the top of her head. Then I was lead back to the seating area which is basically inside a greenhouse. I got sat at my table for one and had the most amazing service throughout the night. Everyone came by (I think because they knew I was the only solo diner there- not recommended for this type of place in my opinion) to ensure that I was still having a great time and enjoying everything. Lots of small talk which was pleasant. The food blew me away and was basically elevated recipes of local food. It is a tasting menu and the journey that they took me through definitely challenged my tastebuds a few times, but super enjoyable and a great blend of rustic and high end techniques. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone in this area...just maybe not alone so you're not sitting solo in the corner, kind of like a creep, while everyone else was on a date.

The front bar, and/or bartender is amazing, food amazing, patrons amazing, wine cave amazing, head chef amazing. Many stories to tell, made friends with the bar tender, chef, and made forever friends with some patrons whom we saw driving down the freeway with the top done. Simply a special place that makes spectacular nights!
This was the best food I've ever eaten.
The service was impeccable and the food was inventive and delicious. We tried both the vegetarian and the omnivorous tasting meals. WOW. This restaurant should have multiple Michelin stars. If you're in Lisbon this is a must try.

Our table wasn't ready so they had us sit at the bar. Ended up getting the Gun Smoke bourbon based cocktail. Good, but boozy. After getting seated, from start to finish the staff was top notch. I was leaning towards the 7 "moments" dinner, but the server convinced my wife that we needed the 10. She is pregnant, so her's was modified. I loved 5/10 the pasta and artichoke dish she had as a sub was maybe my favorite 2/10 I liked were dessert. The bonus one was delicious too. Needless to say the food didn't wow me for the price (303€ with 2x 10 moment meal, 1x cocktail, 1x mocktail, and the 10% suggested gratuity). It was a great experience, but didn't quite live up to the hype.

Gastronomic Adventure
Boubou’s is truly a gastronomic adventure. Each course, or moment, is a work of art. I highly recommend the wine pairing. We learned about local grapes and vintages. This is a dinning experience which should not be rushed. I do not agree with previous reviews regarding slow service or long wait times. It was an absolutely perfect evening. If you are a foodie these are your people.
The cherry on top of the cake
We noticed boubou’s a few years ago after a yoga class a few doors down. Walked by and got a reservation. I was a little nervous seeing some of the other reviews. But after an aperitif and the “snacks”. I knew we were in for a treat. The crisp chicken skin with chicken mousse and spherified corn, tart with sea urchin, oxtail with smoked eel, amberjack tiradito, seascape with sea bass, cockles, and oyster foam , the “hot dog”. A play on the traditional alentejo black pork served for Christmas, charred grapefruit with bay leaf ice cream, And the desert. Flavors of shiitake mushrooms, salted caramel, and black garlic. All I can say is wow. The wine was flawless. The service was lovely. They seemed to love sharing their enthusiasm with people who are enthusiastic about going on a well planned and executed adventure that takes your palate all over Portugal. So I believe a previous review mentioned a movie called The Menu. I am sorry I think they missed the point and should be turned into human S’mores.
A Memorable Meal
I can’t say enough about our wonderful experience at Boubou’s. The service was friendly and exceptional, notably from the wine sommelier. The food (from a pre-fixed menu) was just as excellent — we ate things we never thought we would like (tongue!), but we devoured every beautifully plated course. One of our most memorable restaurant experiences ever!
As soon as I walked in, I felt in a better mood.
The greenery outside and inside is so beautiful. I love how they decorated everything! I got a bench seat and it was comfy. All the servers were female, and they were all so nice and professional. They spoke English, which was so helpful. A couple of them had accents, so it was hard for me to understand when they described the dishes. They offer two tasting menus - one vegetal (vegetarian) 85€ and one not 95€. They offer three different drink "menus", one of which is an actual tasting and the other two are pairings. They have separate cocktail and wine lists. Mao Tom Yum 15€ is the cocktail that you MUST TRY. It didn't list tamarind but for some reason tasted exactly like a cold tom yum. Even the server told me it was the best one on the menu. I couldn't taste the alcohol. It was green because of matcha, but I couldn't taste the matcha. I got the omnivorous menu, so it was 95€ per person. I don't want to ruin any surprises, but basically each dish is creative and carefully crafted. You can see them prepping on the walk to the dining area through the big windows. Even the main dessert dish, which was the dish that helped Chef Louise Bourrat win French Top Chef in 2022, was tasty. There was one dish I didn't finish of the 10+. I found this restaurant on the Michelin website. I researched almost all of the restaurants listed. They don't have a star here, but their menu and price made me try them out. I am very glad I did! The receipt had a 10% service charge added, so you could see the price with and without the extra charge. The server explained that it was optional. They accepted credit card.

We feel so lucky we found it. Michelin recommended. There are two types of tasting menus. $85 vegetarian & $95 for the meat. $65 for wine pairing. I feel sad I forgot sommeliers name, but she was AMAZING. The whole team seems knowledgeable, caring and involved. Dishes came out in perfect timing and the ambiance is superb. This spot is not to be missed.

I'm going to drop a big recommendation here but also going to give a critical review. If you're trying to be elite, then you get the elite review! Firstly at 95 euro for the omnivore, BouBou's is a must. You're going to get a true Michelin experience that would cost you 2x at least in the states. You'll get a 2-3 hour amazing culinary experience here and I urge you to splurge and treat yourself. There were four dishes that absolutely blew our faces off. The highlights were the Sweet Potato soup was a flavor explosion like I've never experienced and that alone was worth the price of admission. The first app was unreal as well, the bread was unmatched, and the hamachi dish was another huge highlight. Like with many fixed menu places though, the next two dishes that were more like your "mains", the taste buds lost luster. The first was a fish with foam and yada yada, that all together was pretty mediocre. Next one a small little lamb bite cooked in some fat that I don't remember (sorry!) which was good not great. It's something maybe I just don't understand about the life, but I absolutely love ab and you cannot beat a perfectly cooked chop or rack. Some things you maybe can't elevate and actually lose when you try? Keep it simple! For that reason I'm rating 4.5 closer to 4 than 5. For the price and prestige I expect all dishes to hit 9/10 at least. In this case 10/10, 7000/10, 13/10, 7/10, 8/10. The desserts subsequently were definitely elite and finished off the meal perfectly. I also wouldn't recommend the wine pairing. 65 euros for 5 pours, in which you'll undoubtedly get at 1 or more wines you could've probably lived without. I've had pairing that truly brought the experience to a whole nother level and I didn't feel it here. The somm is awesome here and you'll get the same experience with her going ala carte and will get better value. But you do you! Bottom line, go here and don't think twice.
This may be one of the best meals I've ever had.
It's the most expensive meal we had in Europe, but it was so incredible! Each course was served expertly, and the staff was great at communicating what and how we were eating each course. I did the carte Blanche wine pairing, and it was worth every penny. I did leave with a major crush on the sommelier - so just know she's so helpful and amazing at describing each wine! Great romantic experience - we walked to the restaurant and it was an amazing way to experience the hills of Lisbon!

A wonderful experience
We had the vegetarian set menu, which was fantastic. Such interesting dishes that were very creative but also satisfying. We also had the non-alcoholic drink pairings to go with each course, which is a great idea that I haven't seen elsewhere. The staff are really friendly and attentive without ever making you feel like they're hovering over you. It's relatively expensive, of course, but well worth it for a special occasion. I'm not a foodie but even I could really appreciate the quality of the food and service at BouBou's. I can't think of a single criticism.

This was a great and unexpected experience as I've walked past this restaurant several times and wasn't expected such good quality. Starting with the cocktails in the bar area, staff to the vegetarian tasting menu, everything was perfect!
Had to cancel an hour before reservation.
Was on "wait list" because every night showed no available tables until 10:30. Appears the "wait list" is a ploy to make you think this is a popular place. Rude owner told me people like me were ruining her business when i called cancel. Nope. With that attitude you're ruining your own business.

If there is no user posting that fits your schedule, you can bid on your preferred time.
Let's say Peter has a great morning and decides to take his three friends to BouBou's Lisboa at 6 PM the same day.
He checks the restaurant's website and sees that no reservations are available. He then looks at the BouBou's Lisboa page on AppointmentTrader, but finds that there are no user postings either.
That's where the community-driven bid process comes in.
Peter can place a bid on AppointmentTrader, which serves as a reward for any community member who chooses to work on securing the reservation. AT then notifies experienced users who may be able to help.
Step-by-Step Process
1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.
2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* FamousStation67, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* FamousStation67 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to FamousStation67 for any questions Peter may have as FamousStation67 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* FamousStation67 now uses their connections at BouBou's Lisboa to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If FamousStation67 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, FamousStation67 receives the $200 reward which is credited to FamousStation67's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at BouBou's Lisboa!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
