Terrible
Once again, I have to write a review for another restaurant that claims to serve Italian food. So, here goes. I have eaten here numerous times, over the last 5 years, and it has steadily gone down hill. However, my "dinner" a couple of days ago is the last straw. The only decent dish was the warm mozzarella on bread !!! The only dish we ate that required cooking was the Pappardelle with short rib sugo, and it was absolutely horrible. It tasted like very acidic, tomato sauce, from a can. The short ribs were completely over cooked, i.e. destroyed. To add insult to a fairly expensive dinner, there was 3 or 4 pieces of pasta, covered in this awful sugo sauce. After all this, I was asked how the food was, so I complained. My server said he would speak with the chef, yeah right !!! Later, he then asks me what else I would like to order ;-) I said, "give me the check." I used to recommend this restaurant. Maybe, they changed ownership, management, I don't know.
Be the first to ReplyPerfect spot for sophisticated dinner when in Napa
We were on holiday in Napa from Fortaleza and were recommended this restaurant by a local. The fresh mozzarella was to die for and beautifully presented at table by our server Neil. We also tried the heirloom tomatoes which were to die for. This is how tomatoes used to taste like! Great food, great atmosphere and great service. Would definitely recommend.

fantastic service! pretty drinks, they were good too. the scalps were cooked perfectly - do not skip the cheese. my mouth is watering just thinking about it.

We visited for dinner by a local’s recommendation. It didn’t disappoint! Food was stellar. Get the fresh mozzarella! We are still dreaming about it.

Impromptu visit. Great food! Hangar Steak Nicoise and grilled chicken sandwich. Enjoy their Rose of Pinot Noir
Be the first to ReplyCorkage Problems
We have supported this restaurant since it opened. Going at least twice a week rain or shine. So their Winter season is over and now we are in high season. Rules changed for locals. Ever since they opened we had free corkage as we own a Winery. We always tipped 30% + and we only drank wine we make and it is not on their list. Today they hit us with a $30 fee to open a bottle at the bar.No ice bucket just pull the cork,$30 ????? We can order a glass of water with ice and lemon at no charge. But pull a cork is $30.I was enjoying a conversation with a friend and the duty manager interrupts the conversation to tell me about their new policy. Very unprofessional. Our alternative is to pay $16 plus for an ok wine and a very small pour. Farmstead charges $10 corkage and it goes to charity. Rutherford grill nothing.I guess Restaurants are having a hard time and squeezing people for anything they can get. Goodbye, Brasswood.

The service and food was fantastic.Actually a very nice selections of nice wines by the glass. Many great restaurants in St. Helena, but definitely worth another visit. The risotto duck confit, the NY steak and the golden beat salad all were heavenly.
Be the first to ReplyGreat quick stop while wine tasting
With only 30-40 minutes for a quick bite, our group of 6 ladies visited the kitchen. We ordered sandwiches, glasses of wine, chips and mozzarella. The service was fast, pleasant and the mozzarella was AMAZING. It was served on toast, with an herb olive oil drizzle. We all agreed it was delicious.

We were given a recommendation for this restaurant from our wine educator at Rombauer. And boy was that a good recommendation. All of the food we ordered, from the fresh mozzarella appetizer to the citrus creme brulee dessert, was amazing. I don't think I've ever had anything quite like the mozzarella, it has a unique texture and is covered in tasty olive oil and herbs. The scallop main tasted great and was nicely presented, and the duck risotto was a winner as well. The place was pretty packed for a Wednesday night. Get there early or make a reservation because this is THE place to get dinner if you find yourself north of St Helena.

While wine tasting, several wine staffers recommeded Brasswood. We were not disappointed. We were told you have to have the roasted mozzarella. It is a must for an appetizer. Our server, Eileen, was great, very attentive, knew the menu well. They have wine choices other than the Brasswood selections. Will we return? YES!
Be the first to ReplyTerrible experience
We were excited to try out this restaurant as the menu was what drew us in. Upon arrival we opted to sit at the bar, ordered a couple of drinks and an appetizer. We were munching all day from wine tasting, so decided to split a entree. I don’t remember the bartenders name, probably because of the terrible experience we had with him. He’s definitely on my top of least attentive servers I’ve ever encountered. I use to bartend and loved working in the bar, mostly because of the new faces I would see everyday. Interaction is key to your guests and our bartender lacked that amongst others. When we received our bill, to our surprise we were charged extra, due to us splitting an entree. Of course I asked why we were charged and he stated, we typically charge if entrees are split, which is absolutely ridiculous in my opinion. First off, if there’s additional fees to split, please inform your staff to let all guests know before ordering. I doubt we’ll every return back to this establishment.
Be the first to ReplyTra Vigne Reborn
We found Brasswood thanks to reviews on TripAdvisor. It’s a large restaurant with a great bar. We visited this restaurant on our first night in Napa. We ordered a bottle of Storybook wine and shared two starters, the burrata with heirloom tomatoes and the beef carpaccio. The carpaccio was very skimpy in size. The burrata, however, was plentiful and so creamy delicious. It was prepared table side. I came to find out my fave restaurant, Michael Chiarello’s Tra Vigne’s menu came to this restaurant when they closed. Yay! The burrata was just like Tra Vigne. Yum! For dinner, my husband had the Herb Infused Pappardelle & Short Rib Sugo and loved it. I had the Butternut Squash Ravioli with sage brown butter, parmesan and amaretti crumble. Oh my goodness! The best most flavorful raviolis I’ve ever eaten. The portion sizes on the entrees were generous. The staff and our server were friendly and attentive. I’d definitely go back!
Be the first to ReplyFantastic Place to Dine
We had a wonderful dinner here October 25, 2022. Our waitress was friendly and made great suggestions for foods to try. Her suggestions were spot on and our food was very good. This was a perfect end to our day of wine tasting.

Someone on Napa recommended this place and we couldn’t be happier. What a great meal! From pizzas to burgers to truffle fries, incredible! The service was very good as well.
Be the first to ReplyTop Restaurant in St Helena and Napa
Excellent Restaurant ! I have been to many of the restaurants in St Helena and Napa . This restaurant was a very pleasant surprise! The food and service is second to none in the area and without the pretentious prices. recommend their signature hot brie and after dinner pudding . You won't be disappointed
Be the first to ReplyHappy, Random Turn Off of the Highway
Only in Napa can you turn off the highway into a random parking lot towards a building that looks pretty interesting and find a world class restaurant experience. We didn’t know what to expect and we hadn’t looked at the menu ahead of time. We walked in and the restaurant was beautifully laid out with eager servers hustling back-and-forth between tables. Our server was knowledgeable about food, wine, and expert level experience with service. We had fantastic appetizers of fresh warm mozzarella with heirloom tomatoes, basil, and drizzles of olive oil. I enjoyed a three cheese risotto with duck Confite, various woodfired pizzas, and a spectacular choice of cocktail. I can’t wait to go back to this place. You’re missing out if you don’t turn off at the Brasswood.
Be the first to ReplyBest meal of our trip!
We also ate at Farmstead and Acacia House, but this was the best food we had on our trip. And the reviews are absolutely correct- order the off-menu mozzarella.
Be the first to ReplySimply fantastic!
What a fabulous evening!! Everything was excellent, from the fresh mozzarella appetizer to the wedge salads to the entrees, it was all so good! Our table had the papardelle with short rib sugo, butternut squash lasagna, and scallops, and we all practically licked the plates clean. And we had the chocolate mousse cake for dessert- worth every calorie!! Our server made sure to pace our meal so that we were able to enjoy each course without feeling rushed, which often doesn’t happen. Next time I’m in Napa, I want to go back and enjoy the rest of the property. One of the best stops of our trip! Corkage fee- free for first bottle, $30 for 2nd.
Be the first to ReplyGood food nice surroundings
This was a new find and I had their fresh burrata with grilled toast and it was the best ever. I also had duck bolognese which was very good. On another dinning experience I ate here for lunch and had pickled beet salad and aromatizzata pizza both were very good. The food is good and the atmosphere is good.
Be the first to ReplyBevan Cellars tasting paired with Brasswood food- absolutely exceptional!
We were fortunate enough to book a wine and food pairing with Bevan Cellars and Brasswood this past weekend. The wines were absolutely exceptional (as was our wine educator, Theo) and the food was perfectly paired. We come to the valley every year from Canada and this was absolutely a wine experience that will go down in our top memories. The beef short-rib ravioli dish that was served with one of our cabs has been haunting us ever since. We will definitely be back for the delicious food, as well as the Bevan Cellars experience.
Be the first to ReplyWow!! This is a Napa Must!!
We reserved lunch here today based on TripAdvisor reviews, and the recommendation of the owner of our favorite Sacramento restaurant. The service and food did not disappoint. Our server Rafael was very knowledgeable and attentive. Based on so many positive reviews, we ordered the Mozzarella appetizer. OMG, over the top good. Trying to figure out how we might do this ourselves, and a must for sure. I ordered the Chicken Caesar Salad and it was excellent. My husband order the Chanterelle Mushroom Pizza and it was excellent as well. For wine, again based on TA reviews, I had the 2018 Carneros Chardonnay (I like buttery Chardonnays, but this was very nicely balanced and delicious) and my husband had the Retro Petite Syrah . . . both nice choices. We recommend and we will be back.
Be the first to ReplyGet the cheese and butterscotch panna cotta!
We stopped here for lunch and we were not disappointed! The service was great and the food was wonderful! The cheese appetizer was out of this world and the butterscotch panna cotta was amazing!
Be the first to ReplyLunch / Wine Tasting
This was my first visit to Brasswood. I read good thing about it and wanted to try. I was looking for a wine tasting and they offered a lunch + wine tasting as one of the tasting options.
I had a group table. Right near the fire, which was perfect as it was about 55 out. I had 3 wines along with a 4 course lunch. All the food was outstanding. House made mozzarella with charred bread, herb pappardelle with ragu, and lamb chop with couscous, harissa, and a butterscotch panna cotta. Each item has additional accoutrements. Everything was excellent, seasoned, quality ingredients, and immediately out of the kitchen. To be honest the wines were secondary. Yes, they definitely complimented the food which again was great. I would go just for the restaurant.
The “campus” there was unique with a tasting room, bakery, and restaurant. Something that was very unique.
It was a little farther than I thought it was as your almost to Calistoga but would definitely recommend.
The mozzarella appetizer is worth sinning for
I liked the general ambiance, although the music and noise level sometimes made it hard to hear the people we were with. Excellent wine list. Large parking lot! We were pleased with our food and we would go back again.
Be the first to ReplyGood food, but horrible service
Let me explain.....on our recent trip we heard such great things about this restaurant. We made a reservation and they could not guarantee we would be inside. Okay, I get it, but it was 48 degrees outside. They had heaters going but not nearly enough and then in the middle of dinner our one heater went out. It took them 20 minutes to figure out what was wrong and bring us another one. And the chairs they have are metal so our butts were freezing. We were so cold it was horrible. But let's get to the rest of it.....We sat down and were greeted by Brian. A nice young man who seemed a little out of his element. There were 3 of us. We placed our order. Two of us ordered soup and then there were 3 entrees. The food came quickly. All of it. At the same time. What??? We asked Brian if that was typical and he said since the third person didn't order an appetizer he thought it would be nicer. Really? We felt rushed to eat and leave. But then once we were done it took him longer to come around to ask for a dessert order. We said no, and then it took even longer for him to bring us a check. The food was tasty and that was good but the experience was so bad we wouldn't go back.
