Wow, what an experience!
Wow. A hidden gem behind an unassuming facade. A beautiful fine dining room. Spacious, atmospheric, and a brilliant house DJ playing the perfect blend of chilled dance music. A 3m Buddha provides a backdrop for a subtle light show adding drama to the dining experience. My 20-year old grown up children absolutely loved the experience, as did I. My partner enjoyed it too but found the chilled dance music a bit too much for her personal taste. The menus, food and wine were extensive, and cocktails unique. Family serving caused a few problems with certain elements coming out last Eg. Noodles came out first and were cold by the time a couple of main items arrived, and the charred greens arrived last when everyone had finished the other items! However, the environment and atmosphere were excellent.

Buddha Bar is must visit. Very nice atmosphere and great food! My favorites are sushi and sashimi, very fresh and delicious. Bao ban with crispy crab is also very nice. If you looking for something new interesting to try, recommend getting crispy noodles. Just wish there would be better selection of desserts, definitely missing on this part.

Gloria Gaynor had our Tribeca Film Festival after show party at this venue. All I can say is everything was incredible! From the bar service to the DJ to the delicious food. Our party was hosted in the upstairs bar area. Franck Maucort the General Manager is one of the best event organizers I have ever worked with. Thank you Franck and incredible staff at the Budda bar. You made our party a memorable one.
Be the first to ReplyA delicious and fun experience
I read some reviews that made me want to cancel my reservation but I’m glad we went! My experience was top-notch. Food was AMAZING. I am accustomed to eating at nice places throughout the country. This was one of the best. The vibe is great with a DJ. It’s a memorable experience with great food, great service, and fun music. The energy of this place is soo good. I can’t imagine where the poor reviews came from. Our table with a few minutes late and the manager did come in apologize and went to great lengths to make sure we were happy. I did not include food photos bc we dug in a little too fast. But the deserts were amazing also!
Be the first to ReplyWorse experience
This was by far one of the worse dining experiences we’ve had. From the time we were seated I could already tell that the host didn’t even read the notes and seated us right next to the service station. When our server came he didn’t even introduce himself he simply asked “are you guys ready to order?” I had to ask for his name and ask what would he suggest since it’s our first time and he said “everything is good.” So we asked for a few minutes to look at the menu. Couple minutes later he came back took our order. Our appetizer came out in a timely manner 2 or 3 minutes later my main course came out. I flagged the waiter to ask about the timing of firing tickets he then said, “oh we don’t have a time.” Mind you I order the halibut en croute and my wife had sushi as main dishes. I asked him is there anything he could do since we haven’t even started appetizers and nothing was done. My wife main came out at least 25 minutes later. He never came back to check on us or even to refill water or wine. My dish was cold so I told can we please do something about this he said “I can take it off your check.” Not sorry or nothing that would show that he genuinely cared. Still he didn’t even asked about our wine or if we’d like something else. Once we were done oh my wife shared her sushi which was really good. He stopped by and drop the desert menu and I asked him with the food we had what should we get and he acted as if he didn’t understand a word so we just ordered the tangerine which by the way was awful and we didn’t not eat and was still charged for. I am a chef and also a traveler. I also have a degree in hospitality management. I started as a dishwasher and still this day after 12 years I still help my team bust. We were there from 8pm to 10:12 and and nothing once did he asked us if we are okay.
Be the first to ReplyTrendy but overrated
First time visit to this trendy place - clearly one of those places where it is good to be seen. When we arrived we were politely received and ask to go to the bar and we would be found when our table was ready - after about 20 minutes we were found (had a cocktail which was average). We were seated at a table towards the back of the restaurant - the issue is that it is very very noisy and I could barely hear my partner talking on the other side of the table. Music was waaay too loud. Food was good but not amazing - the duck dumping a had far too much dough and the lobster fried rice was not particularly flavorful. The shrimp were very tasty however. All in all a fun time but 3 stars since it was far too loud and the food was far too reliant on fried selections.

Possibly my worst experience in a restaurant in 10 years! Our reservation was for 8 we were finally seated at 9.20 without so much as an apology for delay. The food was really poor with two of our dishes inedible. The restaurant itself is very hip with great music so if you want to go somewhere to be seen and enjoy an overpriced cocktail it's definitely a place for your bucket lists!

Be the first to ReplyIconic and excellent -but loud
PROS
Quality of food is excellent, as far as the entire atmosphere of the place.
Position is excellent also as far as the service.
CONS
Hard to talk with my wife at the table - it was really too loud. Maybe also a bit too expansive.
Great experience from start to finish!
Great experience from start to finish! Cool atmosphere and music, very friendly and professional staff including the doorman, hosts, bartender and server. Yes, it's a bit pricey but the food was excellent including both salads (very generous portions), the halibut and the scallops (cooked perfectly), and perfectly made Manhattan cocktails. We've been to the Buddha Bars in Paris, Monte Carlo and Dubai and the atmosphere in this one is a bit understated compared to those but still very enjoyable.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and atmosphere but horrible service and attitude
I think there is an issue when the host forgets to check us in .Doesn't know who I am when i come to check on table but assures me he hasn't forgotten about me . When i say this isn't normal , he tells me it is for Buddha bar ( now mind you , im not a total idiot , if everyone waited for 40 minutes , the bar would have been full , not empty like it was ). When I told the manager of this . He laughed . Not caring ( or at least making believe to care )that I ate no part of one of my dishes is just downright poor . Bringing out ever dish at once is just bad form .

Had an epic dinner at Buddha Bar tonight. I need to start by saying you must order the soft shell crab bao buns they were so flavorful and a truly perfect way to start the meal. The Miyazaki A5 Wagyu was melt in your mouth perfection. Got the Lobster and Uni Noodles too which was another hit and the prawn spring rolls was delicious too. Chef Andrew came out to say hello and I felt like I was meeting a rockstar - so talented. PS - You also can’t skip dessert. The mandarin was such a perfect way to end a truly standout experience.

Buddha-Bar New - York
Spend an evening in a new gorgeous Asian restaurant - Lounge in in Tribeca (https://www.buddhabarnewyork.com) and what a wonderful experience that was! It felt like New York is back!!!
Started with a dramatic entrance - where a huge blue glass Buddha sculpture sits basking in soft digital lights.
Fantastic light fixtures that seem to float throughout the super tall ceilings. All top notch details. It’s a designers’ dream that screams New York! Sleek, modern and inviting.
We promptly got our drinks and appetizers.
Signature sushi was amazing, and so were the duck & foie gras dumplings. Wild mushroom fried rice with black truffle was yummy.
For main we had a huge Maine lobster with yuzu Hollandaise sauce.
It was big enough to serve 5 of us and it was delicious followed by fantastic tomahawk steak made to perfection!
Finale was the exquisite deserts.
The design setting of this place definitely equals the experience of a meal.
It’s a gem !
