Good food, small good menu; comfortable
Very casual, popular spot. Small menu but lots of interesting choices. My spouse had the 3 mushroom soup plus the meatball appetizer and loved both. I had the Indian butter chicken and it was unbelievably good. A little different from what I usually expect but so very good.

After a Chor Leoni concert, this was a great place for us to gather for dinner. The Brie Fondue was delish. The table reservation system was a bit messed up, however.

Was able to make last minute reservation although place filled up nicely while there. Service was quick and relaxed. Variety of dishes. Enjoyed the red wine and loved the butter chicken. All 8 of us liked or loved what we had. Excellent French onion soup was piping hot. Would love to go back again!

The neighbourhood where Burgoo was located was not so cosy; busy traffic and homeless people. The cocktail we took was great! The mac ‘n cheese was ok, but not super. We had to wait a long time before we got the food.
Be the first to ReplyCozy comfort food downtown at reasonable prices
Burgoo is a local restaurant with several locations, and they only do comfort food: soups, stews, grilled cheese sandwiches, and a few other comforting dishes (salads, macaroni & cheese, etc.). No burgers, steaks, etc. On a cold winter evening, Burgoo is perfect for a casual dinner when you want cozy warming food. We ate dinner here on a Saturday night and really enjoyed the food. We started with the perogies (fried crispy in melted butter/grainy mustard and kolbasa, topped with sour cream), then had a side of the roast brussel sprouts, a side of salad, then had the the mac & cheese with pulled pork, and the French onion soup. All of it was really, really good. We also shared a “cheep and cheerful” bottle of Jackson Triggss Merlot. For dessert, we shared the banana bread pudding - decadent! All in all, I can highly recommend eating at Burgoo if you want comfort food in a casual cozy setting. Service was super friendly and generally efficient. The only thing preventing me from giving my review full 5 stars are some of the small detail inconsistencies, like us sitting at the only table with an unlit candle and nobody ever lighting it for us (we swapped it out for a lit candle we poached from an empty table about an hour in), water/wine top ups not happening, etc. Not a big deal honestly but that would get the 5 stars. Finally, my only wish is for them to bring back the Kentucky Burgoo with biscuits on the menu! It was the best item on their menu and their namesake dish. Surprised it’s no longer being served.

Nipped in for a spot of late lunch with two children. 3 of us ordered soup and one child, a grilled cheese sandwich (they even sorted it to make it a child’s portion). Food was fresh, tasty and we devoured it all! On our last day in Vancouver and we wish we had visited sooner.
Be the first to ReplyCool vibes, excellent food, friendly service
I stumbled upon this restaurant strolling from Sutton Hotel. A combo chic, hippie-ish light food with drinks option. Funky jazz plays constantly against relaxed and stylish yet simple decor. I had a fab salad with mashed potatoes- really hit the spot for light lunch. Heavier options are available, check out menu. Perfect Sunday brunch choice. Hugely recommended.

good food, appys are good but pricey. Very good flavour on the wings. The chowder was good as was the grilled cheese. Dinners were reasonably priced. The Caesar drinks were fantastic go for the spicy. Service was great, they were really hustling.
Be the first to ReplyGood food, service not so good
Good food, but the service was very average. It was not busy at all (2 other customers in the restaurant), and the waitress seemed to be too busy to serve us besides taking the initial order and making us pay the bill.

I suggested this place my friend during Vancouver pride weekend and it didn't disappoint, I loved the Tasty chicken. When you love a sandwhich so much that you don't want it to be over? Yeah..and the gooey cheese grillers are the bomb. You cannot forget about their famous French onion soup, and delicious mac and cheese. Its worth it, enjoy it. Go eat ;)
Be the first to ReplyDisappointed in almost every respect--Won't return
The highlight was the tomato soup which had a deep savory flavor. Although our server was very courteous, placing our order, getting our food and drinks, and getting our check took excessive time and needed prompting on our part. The server was overworked. She was tending bar, serving food, and seating customers. The chicken pot pie had an overpowering taste of one spice (thyme I think) which ruined the dish and could not be finished. The chips/dip appetizer was unflavored sour cream and a handful of very small chips.

Flies everywhere! Inside, the patio seating too. We bought a bottled drink and ran out of there. The staff was reluctant to help us despite being almost empty. The staff appeared very stressed and unhappy. I feel sad for them, hope their situation improves.

A decent selection of light meals. It was a bit noisier than I would have liked, but the food was fine and he staff charming

We went twice to Burgoo. Both times the service was prompt and attentive. The food was well prepared, very tasty and reasonably priced.

We dined here whilst on holiday in vancouver. It was clean, staff were welcoming and friendly. The place had a lovely vibe to it and to top it off the food was delicious. Enjoyed our visit and would definately recommend it. I had the beef bouginon and it was so good.

We had the most delicious meal and drink here. Chicken pot pie was just what we needed on a cold night. Cherry cheesecake was also just as scrumptious. Great service!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Comfort Food!
Good variety of comfort food and soup with huge portions! At least 1/2 a chicken in the pot pie. Burgoo is beef, lamb & pork stew. Chose the Burgoo side dish and the mushroom soup and the portion was more than sufficient. Companion couldn't finish the pot pie, even after a full day of touring! Pleasant, casual atmosphere with 70's music. Excellent service!

Burgoo's a great place to go for a bite to eat. Friendly efficient staff, great food and a good vibe perfect combination!
I had the baby back ribs with burgoos own BBQ sauce and they were so good I went back for more! The tomato soup is delicious also and the chocolate banana dessert with ice cream is definitely worth having.
Hats off to the terrific staff, especially Miranda, Daniel and Christina, who were so welcoming and ensured we had all we needed.
Would definitely recommend
Cozy atmosphere with good food.
My wife and I were visiting Vancouver and went here for a late supper and really enjoyed this restaurant. The location is good for anyone staying in the area. We had the delicious mushroom soup and the chicken sandwich. Both were very tasty and we would recommend these. There are lots of other options on the menu that also sounded good to us.

Had a great meal here at Burgoo. Got take out through UberEats and the food was so good. The soup and El Cubano sandwich was so good. Definitely recommend checking this place out!
Be the first to ReplyA LOVELY PLACE
We were looking for a nice place to eat near the Century Plaza & came across the Burgoo. The inside was very well done with antiques, welcoming atmosphere. The menu had comfort food. Hubby had soup, cheese bun which he enjoyed. I had the tastier chicken sandwich which was quite tasty.
Be the first to ReplyThis is not a burger bar - it’s much better
Ended up for dinner on a wet Friday night after being told there were long lines at the first places we tried nearby. I thought it might be a burger bar but it’s not, it’s much better than that. We had to wait 10 minutes at the bar for a table but there’s a good selection of beers and the service is very friendly and efficient. The menu is surprisingly varied and the food is excellent. Should have gone straight here
Be the first to ReplyCatherine’s Customer Service is Unparalleled!
Burgoo has been a favourite for comfort food for years. Yesterday we had an exceptional experience with Catherine. She was so friendly, attentive and bubbly, I couldn’t help but tell her how much her wonderful personality made our day. We enjoy the food immensely- I recommend the Mac and cheese or Gooey Cheese grillers. Will be back!

Stopped in for a drink but stayed for a delicious dinner. Nothing fancy, but very good and there's something here for everyone's taste.
