Lincoln Park excursion
Food and service are of poor quality, felt like frozen food quality, and quite expensive . Though the location is very excellent, so the business can be continued. I would not visit next time.

I love having lunch with friends outdoors at the Cafe Brauer during my walks in Lincoln Park, through the Zoo and around the lagoons. The food is standard fare, salads, burgers etc., but you don't go the the Cafe Brauer mainly for the food...
Be the first to ReplyGreat Brunch Beautiful Day at Cafe Brauer
My daughter, son- in-law, granddaughter and I had a great brunch at Cafe Brauer today. The Patio at Cafe Brauer was busy, & everyone seemed to be enjoying the ambience and beautiful day. My son-in-law and I had a smoked turkey sandwich with lemon aioli, tomato & leaf lettuce on hearty white bread. He had fries and I had chips with mine, both the sandwiches and sides were fresh and delicious. My daughter had Mexican eggs with salsa & chips, which she said were spicy and very tasty. My daughter and son-in-law also really enjoyed their berry mojitos. It was great to be out again & enjoying the beautiful day at Lincoln Park.

We spent more than half day visiting Lincon Zoo and were very hungry. Even though there are few restaurants inside the zoo, we wanted to have something real rather than junk food. At the rear end of the zoo, we noticed this restaurant which is facing a pond and Chicago famous skyline, their outdoor setup is really good and they have vegetarian options as well so we decided to try it for lunch. We took outdoor sitting which was actually very cold due to Chicago weather and pond(bit dirty) but it was good experience. We ordered Samosa, liquor and sandwich. My wife cocktail was not good, sandwich was ok and Samosas were very oily and not having authentic taste. Service was also very slow and waiting in the cold so long increases the hunger and on top of it is the high price.

It was a cloudless, beautiful day in Chicago so I walked the lake down to Lincoln Park and headed for the Zoo. I decided to eat at the Patio at Cafe Brauer as it looked out on the flowers and water and was just before I entered the Zoo grounds. I had the BLT and upgraded to fries. My food was good, portions were good and my service was good.

A sunny Sunday morning. It was a bit early for lunch, so we had mimosas instead. A bit pricey, I thought, but nice enough.

We arrived at the restaurant around 12:30 with 5 adults and 5 kids for lunch. We waited quite a bit for our waitress to come by but finally ordered as a group, we waited for awhile and food came for half the group but the other 3 adults waited until the other part of our party had eaten and had their plates cleared. We had reminded the waitress that we hadn’t brought our food once and then once more when she was clearing the table. With the kids getting restless we decided to not keep waiting for a meal that wasn’t coming apparently. They did comp the food we received but there were 3 of us quite disappointed with our experience there. It’s too bad because they’ve got a good location and with the prices they charge should do well. I would suggest looking for another place to eat.

This restaurant hands down has the best view of the city!! The food is good, mostly pub type burgers and sandwiches, but surprisingly not overpriced for the location at the zoo.
