A HIDDEN GEM IN BALLARD
i had heard about this Lebanese place for quite some time and finally ventured over to this secluded neighborhood spot. I got there right at 5:00 and was promptly seated and served. They have a surprisingly good Scotch selection so I began with the whiskey and then had the hummus with pine nuts ad pita bread that was perfect in flavor and texture. Had I been hungrier, I would have ordered a lot more but I did get some baklava to go. This is an old-time neighborhood ethnic spot that is easily missed.
Be the first to ReplyVery good!
Lebanese for the American can be tough, we want the ethnic food but not get too far off our expectations. I have no clue how authentic this place is but I really liked the food, we had a bunch of plates and every one was delicious. Service was good and it was priced appropriately. Wish it was in my city, I would go regularly.
Be the first to ReplyAverage Because Service Needs Improved - Food is Great
I wrote a review about 10 months ago raving about the Sunday Supper but mentioned the service needed some improvement. We've eaten here 3 times for Sunday Supper with friends for a total of 8 at the table. Each time there were 14-16 plates that would be dumped on the table all at once. Then another 6 plates dumped on the table. No clean plates ever given. Perhaps this is the Lebanese culture but not the way I like to dine. I'd like to get a few plates, enjoy, then get a few more plates.
When I say "Service is Poor", it's the owners that have set up the poor customer service, not the wait staff. I just want to make sure I'm clear on that. The wait staff does what they're told.
That would be such a great idea but this place is churn and burn. Get people in, dump a bunch of food all at once on the table and get the hell out.
We decided we wanted a more relaxed dinner so just went to a Sunday Supper with one other couple so only 4 of us. We asked for the plates to be more staggered, not all 12-14 at once. The waitress agreed just to not do what I asked. She dumped all the plates on the table and that got upset when I said we wanted them staggered. She said that's not how they do it. Well.... you're a restaurant so aren't you catering to your customers? Then they basically kicked us out at 8pm. Not the kind of restaurant I care to frequent.
Service needs IMPROVEMENT! You're in the customer service business so perhaps you should listen better and provide better service.
We live around the corner and would bring friends in once a month but the experiences have left a bad taste so we go elsewhere.
Not to mention, if you go in the summer, dress light, the place is HOT.
Unfortunately the overall service here needs improvement which is unfortunate because the food is good.
If you want to try it, go any other day than Sunday.
And NO TAKE OUT. What the hell? Can't even place an order of the bread to go. The owners need Gordon Ramsey to come in and make them 200% better. But obviously the owners are OK with mediocre service. So they clearly don't care about doing better.
4.5 stars..AMAZING mezzes
I love / adore/crave the mezzes (spreads, dips etc) they are 5 star. Complex and varied flavors with great texture. Memorable!
The skewers however are 3.9star. Quality meat but not as good as the mezzes and apps.
Cocktails are ok and very small. They are less than half the size of a normal cocktail (many ballard and freemont neighborhoods seem to serve $10 tiny cocktails. Charge me $15 and give me a full size)
Wines limited but adequate.
Polite service. Modest decor but very clean!
Worthy of the drive and money.
Go heavy on the mezzes and try SEVERAL. A group.of 6 ppl.could order all.of the mezzes on the menu and a few hot apps and be full.and happy.
Yum
Accidental Excellence
We were randomly looking for a reasonably priced place to eat and stumbled on this neighborhood gem. It's small but mighty, with wonderful, fresh food with unique mediterranean treatments. You've never had tahini this good, believe me. So many great choices for vegetarians and also wonderful food for carnivores. We were lucky to get in without reservations and without a wait, but reservations recommended. I had 2 small plates and we split a salad and that was plenty.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Food - Mixed Service
Love the food here. It remains largely unique build around many meze/tapas style starters. So many dishes are not offered elsewhere. And they are usually quite good. We come regularly. The waitstaff are really good. It is the owner who makes this place challenging. They so often donโt pick up the phone, wonโt return messages, and wonโt offer an online booking option. This visit was case in point - we called ahead but never heard back. We showed up and there were multiple open tables so we got in this time. But most times we donโt when this happens. Please consider modifying your system. We would come more often yet if we could plan dependably.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Vegetarian Dishes
Lots of good dishes here for Vegetarians here. Love the lentils with the caramelized onions, house labneh and sweet pears with a delicious tasting savory Tahini. Excellent service from the staff here.
Be the first to ReplyTake the family special on a Sunday
I always look for Lebanese or Mediterranean restaurants in every city I visit. In Seattle, this is where you need to go. I went on a Saturday, the food was great but some of the staples of the Lebanese cuisine that I saw on the online menu were only available as part of the Sunday family special. I hope this helps.
Be the first to ReplyWhy is this place rated so highly???
Tried to go here twice previously and could not get in. Finally got a reservation- day before July 4th. All I can say is the worst food Iโve had in ages. First of all, menu on line showed beef and chicken and lamb dishes. When we got there, the only entree was lamb. Asked why - waitress said well our supplies are low going into a holiday โ but we do have one chicken skewer left we can give you (should have said no). Got hommous Balika to start - with fried chick peas on top. Good. Also baba ghanoush - which was ice cold. As was the pita. Usually pita is/should be room temp or even warmed. Nope. Chicken skewer - tasteless. Two pieces were not even cooked, but our waitress was nowhere to be found for ages. Lamb was dry. I got the rice dish that was described as rice, lentils, caramelized onions and spicy tomato sauce ($10). A bowl of not cooked rice with a few lentils sprinkled on the top. โCarmelized onionsโ - no - fried onion strings. Some tomato glob in a small metal side tin - not tomato sauce. And letโs talk ambiance- LOUD. Terrible acoustics, then add canned music they periodically played. Add in fruit flies everywhere/bites. Could not wait to leave. Best part of this is itโs location right across from Larsenโs bakery - which is the only thing that saved this experience afterwards. If they were having letโs just coast into the July 4th weekend problems, they should have just closed. One and done.

Unprepossessing exterior and sparse inside
We are totally impressed with the food - delicious mezzo plates all complementing each other and delicious . Well done team
