Excellent food for a great price.
Service was quick and gave off a small shop ambiance.
Be the first to ReplyI was really hoping for great things when I came here.
..but was left continuously dissapointed. We visited during lunch and there were no other customers, I guess at that point I should have suspected something. I ordered the roti canai appetizer and beef flat noodles. My friend ordered the L11, fried rice noodle with shrimp, lunch special. The appetizer came out quickly, but that's about the only thing that was quick here. Only my entree came out about 5 minutes later. After 15 more minutes, we began to wonder what happened to the 2nd entree. We asked and noticed they were boxing a large to go order in the middle of the restaurant. They said they had to fill a huge to go order first then would get to ours. Gee, thanks a lot. So another 15 minutes later...the 2nd entree finally came out. By that time....the first entree was cold sitting on the table. During the boxing of the large to go order, a couple other customers getting to go orders came in and one was complaining why are things taking so long? The reviews are correct when they say once you receive your entree....don't expect to see your waiter again. I had to flag down the other employees just to get a refill....and some other items we needed.Overall, both dishes were not exactly Malaysian, more just Chinese dishes and nothing special. Maybe I should have stuck to the strictly Malaysian dishes since the appetizer was the only thing I really enjoyed. I didn't feel the sauce was spicy at all...but other people say it is.The other annoying thing was that a gnat was flying over the table for most of the time I was there....which is way longer than I should have been....so it was pretty bad....I was thinking to myself why did I even bother to come here unless the food was awesome...which it wasn't. Don't think I will be returning.

Finally had a chance to visit Singapore Cafe today when I live so close by!We came by early lunch on Sunday, so I think we were the first party for the day. All the servers were very helpful and attentive, so the ambiance was really nice!We had the Roti Canai for appetizers. The bread was really good - flaky, crispy, and just the right amount of chewiness! The sauce will depend upon your taste - it had a strong curry flavor, I was okay with it, and my SO loved it. The sizzling tofu was the bomb! I think this was even better than my all-time favorite Banana Leaf's! The shrimp and pork pieces were decent size as well, and the flavor was on point. The only dish I thought was below average was the Haianese Chicken Rice. Definitely had it better elsewhere - I wouldn't order this the next time I come back, but excited to try their other dishes in the future.Tl;dr: definitely a strong contender for Malaysian/Singaporean food in the Sugar Land/Missouri City side of town, will definitely be back!
Be the first to ReplyGood Food.
Good Service.Better sanitation.Teh Tarik = $5, Entree = $9 You could either sell 5 Teh for $5 or 50 at $3! Pricing structure is off beam.Should also introduce nyonya cakes for weekends only and pack for To Go. While supplies last. Ensure you market it!
Be the first to ReplyOrdered a take out after a night of driving.
All the stir fried noodle dishes were hot and plenty of flavor. The wonton noodle with soup was extremely flavorful. Surprised the items were so hot even being delivered. Usually take out items are Luke warm at best when doing take out. Not this case. Definitely recommend you try it.

A small, hole in a wall, restaurant in a strip center in Sugarland, TX with less than 50 seats (~40+), serving Singaporean/Malaysian dishes. Descent flavors on the few dishes we tried. Nothing fancy, but for the menu options and price, we believe this is okay for occasional visits and if you want to try something different than what might your regular meals consists of. All in all, not too bad.-- Interior --Simple decorations with accommodations for less than 50 seats. Clean. -- Staff --At the time of our visit for dinner, their were only 3 other tables seated (total 9 person) plus our party of two. The restaurant was not busy on a weekend night, with a few take out orders. The staff were friendly, smiling and attentive. -- Chicken & Beef Satay Skewers --Good flavor. Chicken and beef were covered with descent marinade. However, some of the beef satays we found was dry and a little tough.-- Hainanese Chicken with yellow rice --Hainanese chicken had good flavors too, tender pieces of meat, served on top of some soy sauce at the bottom of the plate. However, we find that Hainanese chicken dishes from other establishments in the Bellaire Chinatown area tastes a little better, more flavorful and aromatic (smell helps with the experience along with taste, texture and visual).-- Beef Rendang --Their beef rendang are full of flavor, as expected. Beef were tender and eating it with the side of cucumber slices and rice, gives it a balanced bite (I think). Strong flavors from the heavy sauce, tender meat and cucumber to slightly water it down, makes the bite not too overwhelming in flavors (if this is your thing..)-- Malaysian Style Spare Ribs --Great flavor, but some meats were tough. Given that the spare ribs is not really a softest of cuts of meats (ribs), and how it is cooked for this dish (deep fried it seems), we think it could use an additional step in the cooking preparation to tenderize the meat and makes it still juicy when served.
Be the first to ReplyWarm and welcoming customer service.
We tried several of their signature dishes: Roti Canai: roti is soft and chewy, curry dip is on point, must order. Curry Noodles Soup: if you love curry, this is the for you. The curry soup is creamy and flavorful, paired with some egg noodles and vegetables, a very filling dish. Malaysian Style Spareibs: another must order dish. The ribs are crispy, the meat is tender and juicy. It doesn't have any strong flavor but it's very tasty. We also tried their fried rice and Singapore fried noodles. Those two are the reason for only 4 stars. Both dishes taste very similar and a little burnt, we weren't impressed with these two dishes.

This was one of my favorite places when it was run by the old owner and his wife. So much so that I traveled from Dallas to Houston for it (they used to be in Dallas). This place is now 3 stars but I have to drop one star for the review because the new head chef changed how everything is cooked. For 2 people we ordered $110+ worth of food, just to try everything we used to order. The hainanese chicken is now way overcooked, sauces changed and the rice is not as flavorful as before. All the fried rice are now cooked differently (with peas and carrots bits) and lack the authentic wok hay taste. Samba fish sauce changed as well and the sauce is not cooked into the fish like before. Fried chicken batter no longer has that ginger mixed in it which was the soul of the dish. The roti didn't change much and was still good but that was the only thing that stayed the same. We got some free chicken skewers which weren't bad but that's not something we really look for at a Singapore restaurant. I don't know why they changed how things are cooked, but if you miss the old taste, please let the new owner know to go back to the old ways if possible...this hurts so much that it felt like I lost a family member...

I read great things about the Hainanese chicken rice and it did not disappoint! Melt in your mouth goodness. The Roti with curry sauce is a great addition! Very friendly and attentive staff. Will definitely be back!

We were traveling from the Bay Area on Christmas & Singapore Cafe was a very pleasant surprise. This is just as good as our 2 favorite places back home. I ordered the sizzling black pepper beef to my boyfriend's preference since he has acid reflux. He said it was perfect! I had the flat noodle with beef & scrambled egg. Turns out the scrambled egg was egg drop soup was probably one of the best I have had. The staff was also very friendly from when I called to when I came in to place our order. I haven't lived here in 23 years & was glad I didn't have to drive far for great Singaporean food!

I was super early to my doctors appt so I Yelp to grab a quick lunch. Noticed the stars were high here so I decided to order to go, opted for roti and curry chicken rice off lunch (price increase from online; $9.95 now)The sauce with the roti was salty to me but I needed that sauce for the curry chicken because it was so bland and lifeless that I added it to give it some some seasoning. I asked the cashier to make my curry chicken extra spicy, not one touch of spiciness for me.Oh, on top of all that, no silverware or napkins. Pretty disappointed.
Be the first to ReplyI've been wanting to go to this restaurant for a while now.
I finally went and I was not disappointed! The food came out hot and the service was excellent. They were very attentive and our waiter had a big smile on his face when serving us.

I ordered Hainan Chicken and rotie it was just like when I had it at Singapore! So yummy and worth it!
Be the first to ReplyThe quality has definitely gone down since they changed
The quality has definitely gone down since they changed hands. I ordered the Hainanese Chicken Rice and Roti Canai (not pictured) and to be honest, it was ok. There was no ginger to go with the chicken and they had already poured the soy sauce on the chicken which I wasn't a fan of as I like to dip my chicken. The rice was an odd yellow and yet had no flavor. The chicken is supposed to be poached with at least ginger but there wasn't any flavor of that in the dish. And the rice is supposed to be cooked in the chicken broth created by said chicken. The whole meal was underwhelming which was disappointing. The roti Canai was ok but they don't give much curry to dip it in. The service was good and the waiter was nice but other than that it was a "meh" experience.
Be the first to ReplyI've been to this place maybe three times.
It's been a good experience with all. I love the roti and the vermicelli dishes. Lots of flavor and spices the items I ordered were absolutely delicious. I will continue to post my reviews as I continue to try other items in the menu.

This was the first time I tried Singapore food, I was quite skeptical at first ,but when I tried the food once I feel in love ,the atmosphere was so nice ,and all the waiters was so friendly, the food proportion was huge ,and the prices was cheep, if you ever you go to Houston I highly recommend you try this place out
Be the first to ReplySo Yummy, I fall in love with chicken rice at here.
So delicious I will come back many times for sure
Be the first to ReplyFirst time trying the Singapore dishes.
I and a friend got dine in for lunch. We ordered their popular dishes, including hainan chicken, salt fish and chicken fried rice, and roti canai. The portions are generous enough for two, and the taste is really well made. The service is friendly and always checked on us. Will I come back or recommend this place? Absolutely yes :))).

It was my first time eating Singaporean food and I wasn't quite sure what to expect at first. But let me tell you I was really surprised and pleased with the flavors and styles of the food. My favorite had to be their sauced fish. So tasty! The owner was super attentive to us and kept asking how we liked the food. I can tell they try super hard to keep the quality and taste of the food perfect and we really appreciated it!
Be the first to ReplyVery authentic Singapore dishes.
Tastes are consistent. Lots of local dishes that are hard to find in other restaurants. Flat noodles are amazing.
