Food, ambiance, service & wine were all great! I had a lot of anticipation since it was a Michelin star restaurant. And I really enjoyed myself. My favorite was the French Onion Tartine. Rich & flavorful, it truly has that "French" appeal. I was very happy with the service, too. They were attentive, but did not rush us. And their pacing of the meal was very good. Sometimes restaurants move a bit too quickly. Camphor was just right. Our party was there for about 3 hours and it felt it went by quick! To me, an enjoyable dinner like this would be between 2-3 hours, closer to the 3 hour mark. I received a text a few days prior asking if we'd like to pre-order any of their specialties. Apparently they run out sometimes. But I don't know if that's true or not. Nonetheless, we chose to pre-order the Dover Sole, Beef Bourguignon & chicken. All three were very good. I asked the server to round out the meal for our party of six, and he nailed the suggestions, including the quantity. We ate everything and were satisfied but not stuffed. Perfect amount of food! Overall, it was a wonderful evening with family at a wonderful place. The ONLY knock would be price. Despite my favorable review, this place is pricey compared to other nice restaurants in the Arts District. Even with its Michelin Star, I feel it could be priced a bit lower. And if it was, perhaps I'd rate it higher. But in today's environment, I do give them credit for how they charge. They do not have any added fees for "better benefits" or "rising labor costs", etc. it's a straight up bill and you can tip as you see fit. They even emphasize that any gratuity goes all to the staff. Bi appreciate that! Just beware that they do pass through a 3.5% fee if you use a credit card. We knew that ahead of time and brought cash! It saved me about $25!! See pics for what we ordered. All were really good. Just wished pricing was a bit more reasonable and it likely would have been a 5 star rating.
