Cantinetta Seattle Reviews from The Last Year

Ambiance was nice, service alright-possibly short staffed, but food was not great - runny sauces and our two entrees not brought out at same time. Will not return or recommend unfortunately.

I came in for Seattle restaurant week with my parents on a Thursday night around 7pm. There were no tables available, so we sat at the bar. The bartender was very attentive and friendly (and made a great aperol spritz)! We got everything on the Seattle restaurant menu and it was all delicious. The fennel sausage risotto was the star of the show - so many unique and fresh flavors.

Stopped in for Seattle restaurant week with some guests visiting, and was a little weary based on mixed reviews but so glad we tried it!! Between the 4 of us, we tried everything on the tasting menu and everything was delicious. Pasta was fresh and well cooked. Ingredients were quality and for me the beet appetizer was a highlight! We so tried a few cocktails and they were all tasty and well priced. Ambiance was super cute, we were in a back room so the commonly mentioned noise wasn't an issue for us. Service was friendly, attentive, and well timed.
Food is pretty solid.
It isn't the best Italian food in Seattle but it's a good consistent choice. I've had mixed experiences with the service, could be very slow depending on the group size and how busy they are. The fire pits and blankets for their outdoor seating is a nice amenity.

I have been to this place multiple times and have been disappointed every time. I went here tonight and got the Manhattan and Italian Greyhound for drinks, the Brussels sprouts and Burrata for appetizer, and the Pappardelle alla Bolognese for my entree. The Italian greyhound was stall and not sweet. The Manhattan was the worst drink I ever had. The Pappardelle Alla Bolognese had good flavor but was very cold. The best part of this meal was the appetizers, and I would get the Brussels sprouts and burrata again. Overall, this place gets a 3 for its excellent service and ambiance. However, their food and drinks, besides the appetizers, were not good. This would not be a top option for me to want to go back.

It was our second time dining at Cantinetta tonight and we came for a little double date night dinner with friends. The four of us shared the brussels sprouts and burrata for appetizers. The brussels sprouts were delicious (highly recommend ordering these) and the burrata was pretty good. For our entrees, we ordered the pici amatriciana, risotto, pappardelle alla bolognese, and rigatoni. My rigatoni was wonderful - I loved the mushroom cream sauce and the fennel sausage in the dish but wish it came with more for $24. I typically can't finish a whole bowl of pasta and take home leftovers but I finished my dish and found myself still hungry after. Unfortunately, my boyfriend's bolognese was cold when it came out - not even lukewarm which was a huge bummer. The service was fairly good. Our server was nice. The food did take awhile to come out though. The ambiance is super cozy and romantic in here - the perfect place for a date night. I love the warm dimmed lighting in the restaurant. It is pretty small inside so I'd recommend to make a reservation.

The ambiance is really nice, it was busy but never felt too loud. The staff were helpful and kind. There wasn't any NA choices or mocktails but the food was delicious and the tiramisu was delicious!! It is a cute spot for a girls night out or date night!
This is such a wonderful little spot in Wallingford.
Intimate and cozy date night option. Staff were welcoming and considerate on where we sat to ensure the best experience. The food was really good and reasonably priced. Appetizer: Polpette (meatballs on whipped potato) - highly recommend - so good. 4/5 stars Entrees: mushroom risotto was smoked like a mezcal. Most interesting and tasty risotto I've had in a long time. Leftovers were even better the next day! Tagliatelle was very light, simple, and filling. 4/5 stars. Dessert: zappole - Nutella stuffed. Warm, melting, sugary. Perfection. 5/5 stars. Don't recommend large groups above 4 people. Make a reservation ahead.

I hate to write a negative review because the food here is wonderful. However, I have never had such bad service at a restaurant of this caliber before. We came here to celebrate a friend's birthday last night. The first issue, they sat us at a different table despite specifying in the reservation which table we wanted. This wasn't a huge deal to us, just a little bit of a surprise. Second, we were sitting for a long time before the waitress came to get us waters and uncork our wine. We also made the waitress aware of our friend's birthday, which she completely disregarded. We waited an extremely long time before the waitress came back to get our orders, and between every course we consistently had to wait an extremely long time. This dinner took 2 and half hours due to the lag in service. The prices here are expensive. We were charged $35 for the corkage fee which is kind of absurd. For prices this high, I would recommend one of the other wonderful Italian restaurants in Seattle which actually provide high caliber service - there are many. The food is good here but it's not worth it to be treated poorly by service staff when you are trying to celebrate a special occasion.
After a pretty negative experience at their Bellevue
After a pretty negative experience at their Bellevue location, I ended up coming in for dinner and hoped things would be different this time around. But I left feeling the same: Cantinetta is simply overpriced for the quality and execution. Our server was excellent and welcoming, which was a positive highlight. But the food disappointed yet again. All three of us ordered different dishes, two ordering pastas. The oxtail gnudi was really under-sauced, so you essentially got five pillows of dough and a tiny amount of ragu for $24. I ended up leaving the last two on the plate because there was no sauce to go with them. Wine pour was underwhelming as well. It's a cute, cozy neighborhood location with great staff. But know what you're getting: fancy-LOOKING pastas and mains, but they simply aren't executed well enough to justify the price point.
