While the food here was excellent, the bottle of wine we chose from the wine list was brought out in an old glass bottle that had had the labels and cork already removed. It looked and tasted like they refilled an old bottle with cheap boxed wine, and the resulting hangover confirms my suspicions. I'm not above drinking cheap wine by any stretch, but not when I pay for a nice bottle at a restaurant. At the price point, you expect the bottle to be brought out and opened in front of you. I wouldn't go back for fear of being ripped off again.

Food was good (although a bit overpriced!) but we were extremely disappointed with the service and lack of professionalism. We waited 50 minutes for the food, and no apology or compensation from the server's behalf! Will not be visiting again.

What a delight to experience this place once again. I've only been for lunch over a year ago, this was my first time for dinner. Casual french atmosohere. Simple daily menu choice of 3 starters, 3 mains and 3 deserts. I could only fit in a main and desert. I was not disappointed. The cod was tasty, succulent and an excellent sauce. I can't recall what was in it. Amazingly scrumptious plum and almond tart. Reasonably priced for the quality and service. I'll be back.
Be the first to ReplyAuthentic French restaurant in a small cozy location.
The staff is all French, and per my French BF, they offer good typical French cuisine. The only thing is that they are a bit more on the pricey side, we paid about 80 GBP for a dinner for 2. Do make reservations, they get booked up quickly and we were watching walk ins get turned away.

Great food but limited choice. The beef in shortcrust was delicious.

Loved it, I was lucky enough to get a seat at the bar one night as a walk in (make reservations), it is the quintessential little french cafe, daily chalkboard menu, nice selection of wines by the glass, exquisite preparation. I am a fan!

This place shows you that you do not need masses of choice on your menu.Couple of choices for each course along with a sensibly priced but short wine list all adds up to a pleasant lunch with friends.Cooking was good service was fine.

Small location. Bistro atmosphere Started with the baked cheese- "fromage d'or" which was some great southeastern French cheese baked and served with boiled potatoes on the side. We poured the cheese on and enjoyed. A comforting winter dish. For my main I had the sea bass. Excellent preparation with veggies and potatoes. Typical French. Other mains included pork chop, pork loin, and cassoulet. All looked great. Unfortunately I gave up meat for lent. Wine list had good wines for reasonable prices (under £25 a bottle) and probably better wines for more. Dessert was a layered flakey pastry with cream. I forget the typical name. What we liked was that there were just a few choices on the chalkboard but they seemed to change by the day. I would not hesitate to return for a different set of dishes. Complaints were few, but when the waiter told us it was time to go so that our table could be turned over, we were not ready! Bon appetite to all that try this lovely spot.

Very good food, quite hard to book a table, a bit overpriced. The sea bass risotto was one of the top 3 I've ever had.

Top quality classic french food set in a higly artesan style restaurant. No menu just a simple chalk board a ltd but varied selection of food. We started with a selection of charcutetie - different styles and flavours but all excellent. Then sea bass with spinach and mushrooms, tremondous flavours just a joy to eat. My guest had the duck confit, very rich and delicious. Ltd but excellent cheese to finish. Ecletic red wine list - had a nice burgundy. More familiar white wine list. Great restaurant
