Chiang Mai Thai Cuisine Honolulu Reviews from The Last Year
This is a great Thai restaurant.
Having lived in Thailand for a while I can say that this food has a very authentic taste. The service was really nice and the restaurant is clean and comfortable.
TL;DR My favorite Thai spot in town.
Spring Rolls = ONO (!!!) Thai Red, Yellow, and Green Curry = ONO Pad Siew = ONO Thai Fried Rice = ONO Chiang Mai Casserole = oh no ----- I live right next to a Bangkok Chef, but I always make the trek to Chiang Mai instead for Thai food. There is a parking lot with a limited number of spaces behind the restaurant. If it's full, there's usually street parking within a block of the restaurant. I've been taking out from Chiang Mai for over a year now, but just a couple weeks ago was the first time I actually dined in the restaurant. My MIL, wife, daughter, and I finally visited to celebrate my MIL's retirement. There was no issue making a reservation online, and the staff was friendly and attentive throughout our meal. The spring rolls are an absolute must order. There's not much more to say other than if you aren't ordering the spring rolls you are doing yourself a disservice. My family's typical order includes two types of curries (red, yellow, and green are all wonderful), pad siew (love the thick noodles here), thai fried rice (mmmmmm), and then one or two add-on dishes depending on how we're feeling. We decided to try the Chiang Mai Casserole for the first time and were sadly disappointed. I think the word "casserole" is misused here; it's more of a noodle dish (think Thai seafood long rice). It just wasn't our jam. Everything else, however, was fantastic.
Went on a hunt for Thai food tonight.
The place I wanted to try was booked with 2 private parties so looked for alternatives on Cooke street which has 2 Thai restaurants about 2 blocks apart. We decided against them since we couldn't find parking. One looked "too funky" and the other had homeless residences in front so we decided on a tried and true favorite Chiang Mai. Tonight we had : Thai yellow curry Eggplant with beef Chiang Mai Curry Noodle Cashew Chicken (Oops! Only took two pix due to hunger.) Everything was good except for the cashew which was just ok but lacked oomph. We appreciated the pleasant and friendly service especially by the new owner, Kissa, who has taken over from his late father. Always enjoy returning to this place where we have taken many visitors for the food, service, decor, and free parking in the back.
The prices are reasonable.
The portions are small. All the dishes--except the salad--were too salty for me. The service was good.
What a cute little Thai restaurant called.
..Chiang Mai Thai Cuisine in the Moiilil community! The moment we stepped in, we were greeted with a warm welcome by friendly staff. Not just one...but a few. From this moment, I just knew we were going to have an AMAZ...ing dinner experience. Sure enough ...we DID! As we walked in, I felt as though I was in Thailand. Even though I have not been there. Lol, just the ambiance with the beautiful decor, beautiful art, and beautiful seating areas. I was so excited about the FOOD I forgot to take photos of the dining area. Maybe, you can when you visit? Hint, hint... Here's the scoops on our dining experience: Service: EXCELLENT-Friendly, efficient and quick Food: AMAZING- delicious and memorable. My fave-the beef pad Thai So if you are craving for delicious Thai food, go and hook them up! You'll thank me for that!
Excellent service and amazing food! Loved the Tom yum soup
Excellent service and amazing food! Loved the Tom yum soup and don't forget to get their sticky rice. Good portions to share with others if you want. There's a parking lot in the back. Decor was quaint with Thai decorations.
I have been coming here for many years.
My last two meals have been regrettable. How do you screw up Pad Thai??? By burning the onions and peppers and stirring them in the noodles! The burnt flavor overwhelmed the dish. How do screw up Massamun curry, by using fatting limp pieces of steak, that just taste of fat.! Go elsewhere. On the Pad Thai I mentioned it to the server, no sorry , no acknowledgement of my criticism.
Great food, excellent service.
Was going to do the $5 bento truck across the street (I'd rate that 3 on food and $5 on price) but I love a good Thai restaurant. Prices to me are like dinner prices, and there's no lunch menu. I'd definitely come back, but will order more judiciously to manage cost. Mahalo!
We got sat right away when we walked in.
We got Thai iced tea, I think it was okay compared to some iced teas I had. The service was quick and we got our appetizer within 5ish minutes. The spring rolls were nice and crispy! Plus the sauce that came with was great. 3 of us ordered Thai fried rice with chicken medium spice (no spice, medium, or hot)...usually it is measured and has spice within the rice however these ones had jalapeños for spice. One of us got Thai rice noodles (broccoli with chicken) it was pretty good tasting except I think it did hurt my stomach later. I think it's a good place to try if you wanted! The place is pretty quiet and they clean off the table as you eat and when ready to pay you just have to ask!
Food had a great taste and was served quickly.
The kitchen is open so you can see the food being made. They serve Singha beer and the staff was friendly.

The site doesn't have resources to properly execute a reservation transfer. Some places allow it however the best bet is to open a chat on the listing from the seller and communicate there

Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
