Chicago Cut Steakhouse Chicago Reviews from The Last Year
The draw of this restaurant is the location.
It's great to dine by the water with a view of the city. At breakfast, they give out beignets for starters. This is our go to place when we have friends or family in town. The food and service are both top tier! It's a place for people with standards.

Walking through downtown Chicago and not seeing a steakhouse on every block is impossible. With the abundance, picking out which one to go to can be tricky, but we landed on this place due to some random recommendation from the internet. Truth be told, we're pretty happy with it! First, the ambiance is hard to beat. The restaurant is located next to the river, flaunting beautiful views. The restaurant was buzzing, as there were tons of staff and diners. The nice part is that it's appropriate for an elevated dinner, such as date night, but it also welcomes a more casual gathering with family and friends. The staff was amicable and checked on our table at the right pace. Now, here comes the meat. We ordered the porterhouse (24 oz) and the 'Holy Grail,' which is 32 oz bone-in prime rib. For sides, we got the creamed spinach and asparagus. We requested our steak to be medium rare, and they were perfect. The prime rib was fattier, while the porterhouse was meatier--the latter won in our table. Regardless, we really enjoyed the steak! The steaks were served with a side of baked tomato and two sauces (horseradish and bearnaise?). The sauce was good, but I prefer having the steak alone. The bread basket was okay, and the asparagus was decent, but nothing special. The creamed spinach was pretty good, though! Overall, we were very happy with our dinner experience. Price-wise, it's more affordable than other steakhouses of similar caliber.

Now, my favorite steakhouse in Chicago! David and Matt make you feel like you are the only one in the restaurant when they speak to you. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Looking forward to going back to Chicago and enjoying the remodeled and expanded bar.

Chicago Cut exceeded my expectations, which were pretty high. I had heard great things about this place and was happy to get to experience them myself. The overall ambiance was a nice balance of white tablecloth service yet still approachable. One thing of note is that the tables are quite close together. It was a busy Saturday night, and the room was buzzing. A couple times someone bumped into the chair or table, but it didn't cause too much of a disturbance; just noticeably felt the space was a little tight. The service from the beginning was impressive. Knowledgeable, kind, and professional throughout. The cocktails and wine were both delicious. The food was coursed out perfectly and delectable. For starters, the lobstercargot is a must! Read lots of reviews that noted it and they weren't wrong. 6 pieces total so it's perfect for sharing and a great way to kick off the meal. 1/2 dozen west coast oysters paired well with that. For the main courses, medium rare filet and the Chilean sea bass. Both were enjoyable, but the sea bass was actually the standout. Best sea bass I've tried. Not pictured were the whipped potatoes which was a great side to both the steak and fish, and chocolate ganache cake for dessert. Located on the river, the city views are worthy of noting as well. Overall a wonderful experience and would love to go back and try more!
Solid food and great customer service.
We went here around 4 on a weekend and it was unexpectedly a lot of ppl. We ordered porterhouse ( it was tender) and marinated steak ( tasty but salty). We had drinks and slider for appetizers ( meat was a little bit burnt) Overall, good!
Amazing steakhouse with tons of ambiance.
This was an old school steak house with all the trappings. Big round tables of boisterous business folks, lots of indulgent cuts, and great service.
joe was fantastic! food and service incredible as always.
a quaint setup, a chicago must (just don't forget to make your res asap! they were great about modifying later)

We went for our 30th wedding anniversary which is also Valentine's day. We were seated right away even though we showed up early. The service was very good. My complaint was with the way they had the tables so crammed together it was hard to get through to the restroom & when we were leaving. We both ordered steaks, the strip steak was good but very fatty. I know they were busy but we were really rushed & told we only get 1.5 hours. I doubt we will ever go back. The bill wasn't worth what we got.
This was a fantastic experience.
I went to Chicago Cut Steakhouse with a couple of friends in celebration of a birthday on a Friday night. From the start, the ambiance and service were on point. The vibes were what you might expect from an classy steakhouse. City views and even the music were great. Our group made a reservation in advance, and though we were seated a few minutes late, the GM Emidio was gracious enough to give us a little tour and made our experience that much better. He was a lively and charismatic host. Our server and the staff we met were all very helpful and professional. The food was incredible, one of the best steaks I have ever had. Based on the group, the standouts were the Delmonico, and Cajun Ribeye, though I am sure any cut would be fantastic depending on your taste. This was a memorable experience and our group had a very nice night.
Disappointing from start to finish
Lesson learned going here for our first time on Christmas Eve... but still, we expected more from this established restaurant. I don't understand the rationale behind 3 seatings, rather than scattered arrival reservations... it led to chaos at the front door. Although we requested a window table when making our reservation (" we can request that, but cannot guarantee"), and letting the hostess know we would happily wait for a window table when we arrived, we were brought to an interior table that was so packed in, several fellow diners, including all 4 of us, had to shift our chairs to make room for us even to sit down. In the 3 minutes we were sitting at that table, my daughter was bumped into no less than 5 times, my son and I had to shift our chairs at least twice to allow wait staff to pass through to other tables, and my husband had to sit so close to the table that he could not comfortably move his arms. We thought it strange, but we were delighted, when the hostess approached us and asked us to move to a different table (we were later told, it was because they needed to save that table to put next to the adjacent table for a large party arriving later ) ... she began leading us towards the windows where the were 2 vacant/ready 4 tops, and another vacant 4 top, waiting to be cleared. Unfortunately, she sat us at an interior 4 top, that had just slightly more room than the original. When we asked if we could sit at one of the vacant window tables instead, she said they were reserved for someone else, clearly more important than us ( disappointed again since we were told window tables are request only)... Although we enjoyed Nemo, and he was kind and understanding ... he, and much of the support staff, was clearly rushed. When delivering small plates for our appetizer, they were left in a pile of 4 on the corner of the table, with We refilled our own wine glasses throughout the evening. Nothing huge, but small service hiccups, all throughout the evening, just piled on the disappointment. The Nueske Bacon came with 4 pieces... 2 of the pieces were majority fat, completely inedible. When my husband's bone-in filet came out overdone, Nemo assured us a new one would be fired immediately. After the rest of us waited a few minutes for my husband to be reserved, we decided it best to go ahead and eat. We were just about finished when Nemo stopped by to say he was going to check on the re-fire... my husband told him to just cancel it since the rest of us were finished. About 10 minutes later, someone (assume a manager but he did not identify himself) brought my husband the re-fired filet... this person said he would not charge my husband for the steak, and asked my husband to cut it open to check the temperature.... it was raw in the middle... the manager quickly removed it. After an uncomfortable 15 mins with nobody coming to our table... the manager, Jason, finally came over, offered complimentary dessert... we accepted, asked for it "to-go", and asked for the check, eager to get out of there Our special evening was disappointing... all aspects including service, food and atmosphere... In their efforts to maximize revenue on this holiday, they definitely compromised their standards...

Had the most phenomenal dining experience here! It was the most perfect evening for our girlfriend's birthday day dinner. Thank you Julian and Matt Moore for giving us the best of the best with service and food. 12/10 recommend coming here .
What an awesome place.
The food was incredible and the views and service were just as good. We loved it and will definitely be going again!

Came for NYE and had the best time! We were so lucky to have the most attentive, kind, and fun server named Tony who made our time 10/10. No where else I'd rather spend the holiday at. The food way great, service was amazing, and they had a champagne toast and free music at midnight.

Finally got to try Chicago Cut for my birthday dinner with my hubs after many years of aiming to try it. We arrived a little early for our reservation so we sat at the bar for a little. As a pregnant person, I was bummed there was no mocktail menu. The bartenders told me about the "bun in the oven" drink and brought out a glass with bread. I really loved the humor in it, and then one of them made me a surprise mocktail which was very delicious. Would love to see more options for non-drinkers however! The dining room was beautifully decorated for the holidays. Our server was attentive and polite and service all around was a 10 for the night. I got a filet and my husband got the ribeye. We split a few sides that they plated separately for us to have our own serving. They also gave me a birthday dessert on the house that I really appreciated. Overall, had a wonderful dinner here. While I can't say Chicago Cut is my favorite steakhouse in the city, it's still a great restaurant that is always a good option for a special occasion.
Disappointed in the atmosphere.
We were so disappointed. It was so crowded that you could hardly get up to go to the restroom. The staff was moving around frantically to set tables all around us. It was so distracting. The music playing was so loud and the room was so hot. Thanksgiving meal was way overpriced. We would not go back.
Great food, poor βpaying serviceβ
Visited on 23/10/23. Had to wait 20 mins past our booking time for our table. The food was excellent though. Couldnβt fault it. The service was pretty good as well. However, when it came to paying the bill, I was very surprised that they didnβt accept Apple Pay. I had stopped taking my cards out with me because everywhere weβd been up to that point (and everywhere afterwards) accepted Apple Pay so it didnβt even occur to me that a business wouldnβt accept it. This then led to a slightly awkward situation whereby we had to leave my wifeβs phone with the waiter, walk back to our hotel room to get my cards and then return to the restaurant to pay the bill and get my wifeβs phone back. This somewhat marred our experience and is the reason this review lost 2 stars (along with the lateness of getting our table). However, if youβre aware of the βno Apple Payβ rule and thus come prepared, then Iβm sure youβll have a great time. π
Disappointing restaurant
The place is nice, the service is very good but the food left something to be desired. The starter of lobster, lamb chops, bacon was very good, then we ordered the ribe eye and it was huge but it didn't have much flavor and it was terrible for me, in general the food was not highly recommended for the price.
Delicious steak and amazing views!
Went with my husband to celebrate his birthday, since the moment we got there the staff was very nice, professional and knowledgeable. For appetizers we had the Lobstercargot, it was amazing! I love the fact that they divide the appetizer and how it was served. Our steak was delicious and our service Damaris was the best super nice and attentive. It is price but worth all the way.
Worth the Trip
Best steak he ever had said my husband! I am not a big beef fan, but since we were in Chicago, I had steak. I was more than pleased; my skirt steak was cooked to perfection! The portions are very generous. Both of us enjoyed leftovers for lunch. Our waiter, Greg, was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu.
Excellent place for special occasion
The service, food and ambiance were excellent. They offered to take a group picture. Gave us dessert when we said I was getting a special award from the state. Our steaks were very tasty. Dessert gelato was excellent. Salmon dish tasted great, as well.
Spend your day at the beach for the views and then bring your $200 bottle of classic wine to a reasonable place.
I have dined here when business associates are paying and it is a real treat with a GREAT view. But I booked my family there in August and got the message that we had to be done in two hours and could not bring our own wine. (Looking at something like a Peter Michael Les Pivots or La Mission Haut Brion). Two hours is a little tight but it is family and we could make that. So I checked the wine list. Any wine that you would really drink at this restaurant would cost $200 retail...otherwise you are just wasting your time. Well the $200 retail bottles are all priced at $600 or more. This makes going here a complete waste. I am not paying this so I have to order a bottle of wine that is poorly made and sells for $40 at retail just to control costs. I don't want to eat 1-star food with $40 wine. I am sure they don't need my business but the cheapest bottle is not getting a $75 mark-up. Why not set corkage at $75 to encourage superior bottles? Cancelled the reservation.

All I can say is WOW. We were in a large group and had a private room, which made it a very unique experience. Phenomenal starters, ridiculously-good steaks and the biggest cake desserts Iβve ever seen served in a restaurant. I had the Bone-In Filet (16 Oz) which was incredible. Some of the group had fish and veg options which looked and tasted amazing. Service was world class - the two head waiters were the loudest and most entertaining I've ever experienced, recommending the best dishes and keeping the wine flowing all evening. Would defo go back here and highly recommended to all steak lovers - this is going to be pretty hard to beat!
Fabulous
Had dinner at the Chicago Cut, staff are amazing and obviously are well trained. The table was perfectly positioned outside facing the river and offered a very pleasant back drop. The food was pricey but cooked to perfection and very enjoyable. Lovely spot

Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
