Clamato Paris Reviews from The Last Year
Absolutely superb
Came here on a Friday night and had a wonderful dinner. We loved everything about the food, service and ambience. No bookings taken so we had a drink across the road and kept our eye on the queue. We joined it around 5 minutes before the restaurant opened at 7pm and got the last table - at the bar. Was ok for us but the stools are quite high so perhaps not great for those less mobile. Service was absolutely impeccable. Staff were so friendly and accommodating for our terrible French. The menu was explained to us very clearly in English and we were told how many dishes we might want to select from each section of the menu. We had white asparagus with crab meat, a half crab served with bread and mayo, a sort of spicy tuna taco, some scallops served in their shell and some dressed greens. Also a couple of glasses of interesting and delicious white wine. Every dish was fantastic and we went away very happy. Would love to return next time we are in Paris.
To try again without the natural wine 😜
Looking for a nice restaurant near Charonne last weekend. The pretty facade, the menu displaying many fish dishes, and the Michelin stamp convinced us to try the experience. Well advised, we order several small, original and superbly seasoned dishes. The only downside of our meal, a natural white chardonnay wine, which adds nothing to the experience, even the waste: expensive and really not good 😑 There are enough well-made organic wines that would do the trick… 😉
Of all the restaurants we tried during our week in Paris,
Of all the restaurants we tried during our week in Paris, this was our #1 favorite!!! If you're a seafood fan, HIGHLY recommend Clamato. Not only is everything super fresh but the flavors are incredible unique and well curated. We got nearly everything on the menu and two desserts (the grape sorbet and a chocolate mousse, which were both unbelievable as well). Thank you to the amazing staff as well! Loved our experience here - elevated food and service with a slightly "casual" atmosphere that had a touch of sophisticated warmth that made it just perfect.
New flavors - Original creations but without show off
100% fish and seafood oriented. Small portions of dishes with unparalleled flavors. A real new experience. The sauces are succulent, and sauce is a must. Otherwise, spoons are available if you have to go without bread. Allow 3 dishes per person to share. No reservation. Arrive at 7 a.m. if you want to get a table without waiting. Otherwise a wait at the bar is - possibly - to be considered. This restaurant is supposed to be a branch of the nearby Septime
The biggest surprise in our last trip to Paris! We were in
The biggest surprise in our last trip to Paris! We were in the area trying to get into another restaurant that "unfortunately" was closed for a private event so we decided to give CLAMATO a shoot. Clamato was on my yelp bucket list, walking distance from where we were and also walk-ins only, so why not. When we got there the host told us the wait was around 30-45min but suggested that we could go to the sister bar Septime Le Cava for some pre-dinner drinks while we waited, we agreed! BTW, we loved the bar. After half hour they texted back and promptly we got seated at the bar. We've always been huge fans of bar seating because we love to see the prep of the dishes happening right in front of us. I feel is a great way to start waking up your appetite towards what you are visually seeing. All dishes are meant for sharing. First we got the mussels that were tasty and spicy. Then the tiradito (raw fish) was very pleasant to the palate after the spicy dish. While we were eating we saw the making of a very interesting dish that looked like a devil egg with caviar, so we give it a try. It was delicious! Super creamy. We ask the waiter to suggest one of his fav dishes from the menu and he did not hesitate by saying THE CABBAGE. I was like, CABBAGE!? Well, lets do it. Best cabbage I ever eaten in my life. If I'm not mistaken, the sauce had uní and the cabbage was perfectly roasted. We paired all dishes with an amazing white wine that also they suggested. Now this place is in my yelp Bookmark list "Best Rest in PARIS"
Maybe the best meal we had on a trip packed with incredible
Maybe the best meal we had on a trip packed with incredible meals. Maybe also one of our very best meals of 2023. The mussels were spicy and perfect. The cuttlefish (cut into almost a linguine shape) was incredible. I could eat the tiradito every meal the rest of my life and be happy. We loved the cabbage too, and the oysters were great, even if I'm mostly bored with raw oysters. But the biggest standout of all was the cod roe tarama, which was maybe my very favorite dish all year -- an incredible hummus-like consistency with unbelievable flavor, topped with some top of the line olive oil, and served with amazing bread. The maple syrup tart for dessert was also amazing, and I really liked the clementine sorbet (my wife was less on it). We got there a half hour early on a Friday night and were first in line -- by the time they opened, the line was down the street. Also want to add that they were incredibly sweet to our two little kids (2 and 4), which we appreciated so much.
Clamato is a walk-in only seafood haven.
It's located in a quiet and quaint street nearby its sister restaurants. After putting out names down, the host graciously walked us to Septime Le Cava for pre-dinner drinks. They then stopped by to grab our party of 3 and were promptly seated at the bar in less than 30minutes. This was great because we got to watch lots of the crudo/ceviche style dishes be made directly in front of us. A great tapas style menu meant for sharing, we were able to try a couple items on the daily rotational menu. The Stone bass ceviche with a mandarin satsuma sauce was amazing and had a great spicy citrusy kick to it thanks to the burnt zest oil. The whole red mullet "Al pastor" was also a happy surprise for me because I did not expect to have an amazing Al pastor in Paris and on my first evening! Other items we tried were the winter radish and shrimp salad, hand dived scallops in a cognac sauce with grapes and crispy bread. This one was also amazing! The sweetness from the grapes combined with the salty and crispy bread was a treat for the sensations. Also, worth nothing that the spicy peanut butter served with the roasted squash was another complex and flavorful combination to the palette. Unfortunately, the cocktail selection here isn't the best so best be prepared for wine or a light spritz! The service was all very kind and generous though so I can't wait to visit during my next trip to Paris.
Fish at its best
Simply outstanding! Very friendly, attentive service. Very nice how they helped us cut up the lobster. The food was super fresh. We are already looking forward to the next time
Disappointed
I really enjoyed this restaurant a few years ago... Today, with friends passing through, to please them (because it's still very expensive), we wanted to show them this place. I was very disappointed by dishes that were way too salty and way too spicy... I wasn't able to discover the tastes... Frankly, I didn't enjoy it. I won't go back there... However, the desserts were excellent, and the decor/ambience very pleasant.
Worth the wait
No rez joint and sometimes the wait can be onerous so allow for time to enjoy a bottle of wine across the street or a beer or two down the street. The dishes are sublime in their simple directness - procure great products from the sea and put them on the table while providing fun stuff to wash it down seems the mission - well met.
intoxicating experience
next to the famous Septime, victim of its success with extremely difficult reservations, discovery - on the same sidewalk and next to it - of Clamato. A fabulous meal that begins with crispy sourdough bread and Espelette butter, special Utah Beach oysters with homemade fig vinegar, scallops with Chasselas grapes bathed in a light cognac sauce, and pollack in ceviche with satsuma mandarin with burnt zest, porcini mushrooms with small abalone molluscs braised on a sage brown butter, roasted pumpkin with spicy peanut butter covered with togarashi (Japanese spicy). An ice cream of English crepe with fig leaf to finish (served with roasted figs and fig leaf meringue, simply divine. not to mention the sugar-free and very fragrant infusions of figs, verbena, rosemary and plums for those who don't want wine at midday) you leave this restaurant with the exhilaration of an exceptional meal, thank you to all this cool, not stuck, very friendly team and especially the exceptional chef who has mastered fermentation including in her cuisine an element which further elevates her cuisine to a new level of sophistication that only time can achieve...
This was my favorite meal in Paris on my most recent trip.
My boyfriend and I got in line at 6:40 PM on a weekday (they open at 7) and were able to be part of the first seating. We tried: + Oysters + Ceviche + Albacore tuna + Heirloom tomato salad + Fried eggplant + Green beans + Haddock carpaccio + Maple syrup tart + Melon sorbet My favorite dishes were the tomato salad and the maple tart, followed by the ceviche, melon sorbet and tuna - the tuna had line or something in it and tasted like Christmas. Fried eggplant was also a standout. Only miss was the carpaccio - the flavors just didn't fit. I liked Clamato more than their sister restaurant, Septime! Small place, so plan accordingly.
Ambiance, quality, freshness.
Taste is beyond review. A friend suggested this place Dillon who grew up here. Oh my Gosh. Amazing. Must come here tell them Jason and Dillon sent you here. Do not miss. So fresh always changing menu.
Mediocre at best
I really like that they don't have any reservations so it gives everyone chance to try them. I was expecting a lot more ( maybe too much ) from the dining experience. I was sat at the counter and was greeted by a server a couple minutes later asking if I wanted a drink. The riesling(s) they have are very good. Now after that, I waited 20 minutes until someone came over. I get it, it was busy. But everyone else on the counter got served efficiently so I believe I was being ignored. The food was just okay. for the love of god, there are so many other places in Paris that serves better seafood for a reasonable price. The clams (with a green curry sauce ) had absolutely no taste. It was so bland, I was insulted because the clams were really fresh. The octopus was good but nothing special. I ordered the demi rock crab and you can't really mess that one up. Clamato was a huge disappointment- I don't know why they have one star.
FANTASTIC !!!
Delicious Sunday afternoon lunch. Must say that there is a bit of gas, but not disturbing in itself. Small special dishes to share. Really beautiful and super delicious! Certainly do!
Happy To Have Visited This Restaurant That Has Been On My Hit List!
Clamato has been on my hit list for the past few years, and I was determined to try it out when I was staying a few blocks away in the 11th. I had always been told that I'd have no problem getting a seat for one person, but I was turned away the first few attempts (in the hostess's defense, I have never seen Paris so crowded as it was a couple weeks ago). The third time was a charm when I showed up earlier in the night, asking for one seat at 5pm and the hostess make me a spot at the bar - perfect! I really wanted a raw seafood tray, but I knew I couldn't finish that by myself Instead, I opted for the briniest oysters available and the grilled octopus with fennel. Feeling guilty that I didn't eat any vegetables in days, I also ordered the roasted zucchini. It was too much for one person, and I regret not getting another fish dish instead but shoulda woulda coulda. Thank you Clamato for your hospitality!
Outstanding seafood
The place is beautifully done. They specialise in seafood with an amazing choice of fresh oyster. You can go for the full sea food platter or order a selection of dishes. We have started with a selection of oysters, followed by cold and warm dishes. There are no starters or mains. You just order and share on the table. The quality of the food is amazing. Everything is super fresh and beautifully prepared with exquisite combinations. The staff is very friendly and helpful, explaining the menu, going through the different variety of oysters, helping us to match the wines... They even took the effort to highlight the allergens on the menu... Their local Spritz is awesome! Highly recommended for a unique experience! One word of caution, they do not take bookings but service is non-stop from noon to 22.00 (or 23.00).

Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

Can come from a lot of places, people who don't want to get charged their cancellation fee or people who just have them and cant go.

almost all restaurants aren't affiliated with AT and I'm guessing it's mostly people wanting to not pay cancellation fees.
