Clover Grill, you should do better
We went there for lunch in October 2022, arrived on time and got seated at the window - nice! We took a three course menu: Focaccia and Small Green Peppers/Burger/Churros. Water and a glass of wine. Coffee. The water was from the tap, which was fine, but came in reused bottles which had a chalky film underneath the screw cap which we neither expected nor found in any way acceptable at least for a restaurant of this class. The Focaccia was great, a large slice served on a piece of wood. The bread itself filled with a savory, deep red jamon, decorated with arugula leaves, yummie. But the piementos de padron? A bowl of maybe a dozen (max) pretty small grilled and salted peppers. Thatโs it. No finesse, no special touch - you get them way better at your local Tapas Bar for a few bucks. That was an utter disappointment. The Burger was Bun/Cheese/Patty/Bun, or without cheese: bun/patty/bun each with a hint of bbq-sauce. To be honest: the burger tasted fantastic. I paired my burger with a glass of red from Cote Rotie for a small fortune, but the wine was great and so was the pairing. The churros came in a bowl with three compartments: one filled with a pretty fluid hot chocolate, three sugared churros and a small bowl of vanilla ice cream. The service was Bistrot-Style: fast, neither friendly nor unfriendly just efficient. I ordered a Double Espresso which was literally served in a mug of the kind that the missus takes her tea in on a rainy Sunday afternoon in front of the burning fireplace. Taken into account, what this resto stands for, what it claims to be and what you pay for after all, itโs no more than two stars: the boring peppers, the ugly and disgusting bottles, the rather simplistic - admittedly tasty, though - burger and a double espresso served in a frekkinโ mug for a bill that can easily compete with a starred restaurant, sorry @clover grill you should do way better than that.
Be the first to ReplyIt was ok
It's just ok. Steaks were cooked as ordered, flavour was meh, sides were ok but we felt we do a better job on a Tuesday night at home.
Be the first to ReplyMy advice - go somewhere else!
Poor service and meat was not cooked as order. Sent back to kitchen twice. Ended up dry and overcooked. Glas broken at next table and almost no cleaning done by waitor. Advice - go somewhere else!

This restaurant has a nice feel to it and is located within what felt like a fairly hip restaurant area not too far from the Metro in Les Halles. Not touristy at all. We took our three teenagers - four of us had steak. The shared argentine rib-eye was probably more fatty than it should have been but had good flavour. The two smaller fillets were excellent and perfectly cooked ร point. One of us had the lobster pasta which was fine. Entres, sauces and sides were tasty - especially the focaccia stuffed with ham and cheese. The mashed potato was actually very, very good. Dessert options were good and the cheese serving generous. I liked the fact there were no English menus - it felt more much more like a "local" restaurant and it was fairly easy to translate. The only slight downside was that as a steakhouse, I thought they could have provided more information on the menu about the different options available. Additionally, although the staff were friendly, I felt menu information had to be dragged out of them. For example, we were left with the menu, which had a very limited description of the dishes and saw no one again for 15 mins until they were ready to take our order without further comment. Not everyone is a steak expert, and there were several choices where some direction would have been helpful. Eg what is a "blond steak" and whether to order cote or entrecote of the same dish. Also, as you order per 100gm, what size is advised - many of the steaks had large bones, so guidance would have been useful. We did eventually get a fast explanation of things but I still felt I was ordering a bit in the dark. However it all worked out fine as it all tasted good. It was reasonably pricey, so for most people this would be special event place. In general the quality was also high, although my partner did feel that the shared steak mentioned above was not up to scratch, given the really high fat content in what was a very expensive piece of meat. I liked it enough that I would probably go back.

Be the first to ReplySmall place to eat a great steak
This was our last dinner in Paris at the recommendation of our hotel concierge Michael. Small place but the steaks are excellent. Warning! When you see in the menu the phrase "les 100 grams", it means that the price of the steak is 36 Euro per 100 grams or 3.5 oz. Therefore, if you order a 30 oz steak the price will be 309 Euros!! 30/3.5 X 36 Euros. If you can afford it, it is a great place for a steak.
Be the first to ReplyUnfortunately never again
High expectations.. terrible food. The starters are very ordinary, the meat as well is very very expensive. My piece was hard and full of nerves. There are many other good places in Paris for a steak.
