I have sent multiple reservation requests for Tuesday Nov 7th at 7pm for one person. I have read your webpage and even sent text messages for a follow up. Not once have you even acknowledged that you received my request. I work in the hospitality industry and we do not treat our guests or prospective guests this way. As this is my first visit to NYC your company has made me feel very discriminated against for being a solo diner/traveler. Even if you are fully booked you should acknowledge with a response to all guest. Making a person feel they are not good enough for your restaurant because they travel solo is not a good way to run a restaurant in a city with many other options.
Be the first to ReplyFood was very good.
Service was awful and I was the only person in the restaurant. Bill was almost 100 bucks and I didn't appreciate the waiter looking over my shoulder while I had to leave the tip on the app. I never would have left 20% but I did out of pressure. Seems like a fun place when it gets busy but I wouldn't go back.

my family and i visited this place and it was absolutely amazing. we got $1 oysters and they were spectacular. the only catch was that we had to order a glass or wine each which was reasonably priced for an upscale restaurant. service was great and all workers were very kind. it was 3 dozen oysters, 3 glasses of wine, with a $15 tip all for about $110 total.
Be the first to ReplyThe food and wine pairings were excellent.
The cuts of beef and the quality of everything exceeded expectations. Come hungry but expect to leave a bit tipsy. The ambiance is very chill. It's a creative space where even the bathroom graffiti leaves you searching for Sharpie in your purse. Physically, the dining room is expansive and you don't feel like you're on top of other groups. The service is commensurate with the rest of the experience.
Be the first to ReplyCoarse NYC is so incredible.
The tasting menu is 8 courses with delicious wine pairings to match. This is fine dining, but also so low key and down to earth. Such an amazing combination! The owner Jay is a nice and considerate man as well.
Be the first to ReplyA friend had raved about his dinner here, so I had to go.
I'm always wary when there's no menu listed but will say, the food was so fresh and delicious. I understand they have a daily tasting menu with the freshest items available that day, so it's harder to present a menu but how about a sample menu? Better yet, can we get certain items a la carte? I would come for dinner weekly if so. I had the most phenomenal lobster, scallops and lamb courses. I would love tp be able to walk in and order these items anytime. The chef Finn explained each course which made each course an event. You could tell each course was well thought out. Thank you Finn for making the night special. I need to rave about the lamb because I usually dislike lamb. Finn explained how he prepared the entree which was pretty special. Lamb belly was wrapped around the loin. The meat was tender, moist and flavorful. I'm a convert, so will it be possible to come in weekly for this dish or the lobster or scallop as a meal? Finn also served a hamachi crudo, which normally would be my favorite but the lamb was to die for.

Put in two separate reservation requests online for my anniversary dinner. I never heard back so I called and a few times and when I finally got someone I made the reservation. We called the restaurant the day of our anniversary only to be told by a text service that the restaurant was closed for two weeks without any communication from their team.
Be the first to ReplyAVOID THIS RESTAURANT.
They cancelled a Valentine's Day reservation made on Open Table 48 hours before the reservation because they "claimed" their confirmation text messages were not replied to. No attempt was made to call me to confirm, nor were text messages ever received. Furthermore, when I called to inquire as to why the reservation was cancelled, they offered a new reservation, but only for a prix fixe menu, and I would need to reserve with a credit card. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND EXTREMELY ARROGANT!Do not ever call me ever again. And don't worry - I will never give you my business. Your staff and you do not try to accommodate customers. You simply try to intimidate. Most importantly, your staff hung up on me when I questioned the reason for the cancellation. Completely unacceptable.

I was here for a private event that consisted of less than 25 guests. This restaurant was not intended for me and I'm okay with that. I can't eat fish and I was relegated to the vegetarian menu for most of the night. This usually meant eating a course of chopped apples and radishes. The steak and asparagus were good. I enjoyed the wine pairings. The ambiance and our waiter were incredible. I didn't vibe with the chef. He seemed dismissive of my dietary restriction and had no sense of personal space. I had to lean out of his way multiple times so he could pour sauces on individual dishes. This forced closeness could have been avoided by spreading us out a little more. I joked during the meal about needing a burger after the meal and that's just what I did.

$150 tasting menu was a mix of different types of cuisines (asian, american, european). No big misses, but no real stand-outs either. Biggest issue was the service, the chef was pretty rude to a girl in our party, snapping at her on two separate occasions which is very unprofessional. We mentioned it to the waitress and she replied 'ya he's like that sometimes'.. which is pretty wild but I guess not the first complaint. Very reasonable $50 wine pairing which is probably the highlight of the whole experience. Food: 7/10Value: 6/10Service: 2/10Vibe: 6/10

No. Just no. Worst night ever. Rude. Basic food. Billed for 4 people maybe enough food for 2 people. Plenty of wine. But it was cheap and corked. This place is a waste of space. No chef or owner on site. Just rude staff.

Had an amazing meal and experience at Course! Chef welcomed us before opening as we were walking by and popped in. Incredible courses, great wines and tremendous service. Well done
Be the first to ReplyWhat an amazing spot.
I found this place on Resy and did some Yelp reading and it sounded like a full experience. I'm happy to report it went beyond all expectations. Ok so what is this place? It's an intimate dining experience that features raw or lightly cooked super fresh ingredients. It's a set price at $149/person and you can add wine pairings on for another $50/person. We went all in and it was worth every penny. They greet you with a glass of sparkling wine and once seated, the chef came out and said hello and checked on allergies. Thankfully hubs is only allergic to shrimp and not all shellfish. For each course the chef comes out and explains the dish. Our first course was a hamachi with avocado paired with a sake. Then to an amuse bouche of tomato tartlet that had the slightest spice to it. Then on to a crab tostado that was piled high in fresh picked crab meat. Next we had lump lobster in coconut milk broth that was heavenly. There were two whites poured but the group next to us got really loud so I couldn't hear the details. (My one complaint would be the noise...)Then we moved to red wines and had a tuna that the chef poured a boiling beurre blanc over. We literally had to sit back so we didn't get splashed with boiling butter. It was amazing both in presentation and flavor. Then we had fluke in a miso butter which was phenomenal and rich with flavor despite being so light. I think this was my favorite but hubs' was the tuna. Lastly we had steak with a black truffle sauce, which was good but honestly the least of the dishes. These were paired with an Oregonian Pinot noir and a Spanish red. For the desert first there was a marscapone gelato with mango first and then a crispy ginger cookie. They were paired with a white port that was fantastic and not as sweet as a red port. This was a perfect end to the meal. Hands down one of the best meals I've ever eaten in my life and could not recommend more. Treat yourself to this experience.

An amazing tasting menu, love the ambience, will definitely revisit next time in city
Be the first to ReplyThis was truly mesmerizing.
Thank you for Toni and Dave for providing this beautiful experience. Right when you enter the door, you are surprised by a complimentary bubbly and then brought to your seat. When going for the tasting and wine pairing you will not leave dissatisfied. You will be started with two glasses plus your bubbly of wine to start the tasting. Seafood haters don't turn a blind eye. I brought a "not a fan of seafood" and she loved every bite. The chef presents his every dish at the table making the food feel personable, leaving you to the flavors of the unknown. My first bite was unbelievably. Asking my server for extra assistance because I'm a couple wines in to explain what I wasn't familiar with, was assuring. You are left excited for your next course and more wine to keep you company. Everything you enjoy is so fresh, exquisite, and fun. The atmosphere is delicate and left for you to enjoy your personal space. You can feel the energy of the room enjoy such quality and satisfaction. The kitchen is open to be seen working hard and perfect their every dish. The restroom is down the small hall leading you to a fun spot to put your name on the wall for a forever memory. You may be turned away from the price but you will never forget the experience you will encounter (I know I won't). Thank you again for this amazing cuisine.
Be the first to ReplyCoarse was on my radar since a long time ago.
Our friends are here 2-3 years back and great things to say for the food and the service. We made a reservation about 2-3 weeks prior to our visit and their website indicated it was $149/person for food and wine pairing. The day of our reservation the price increased to $149/person for food and $199/person for food and the wine pairing. That was fine with us since we were looking forward to the food and experience.Everything we got was similar to another person's review. 7 or 8 courses of great food:1) hamachi and radish - incredible. Very amazing flavors2) crab on biscuit3) scallops4) seared tuna5) regular menu is a filet mignon (I think). The pescatarian offering is a lobster dish (this was better than the beef)6) white asparagus - another masterpiece of a dish7) strawberry sorbet or ice type of dessert8) almond pudding and chocolate covered almondsSo why only 4-stars? The above food selection was great and very filling. But after I finished paying the 2 tables on either side of us received a white polenta dish that was covered in black truffles. It was aromatic, it looked delicious, and it was covered in truffles - this is probably the most expensive dish on the menu that we weren't offered or provided on a tasting menu that is supposed to be the same. I already paid, we were already full and had friends waiting at our next stop, so I didn't need to go ask for that dish after desserts and a cleared table. The other factor is the updated pricing, which caught us off guard. I understand that prices can change at the restaurants discretion, but I still feel it's something worth mentioning.

Coarse was a cute experience definitely different that anything I've experienced before. The restaurant is small and intimate. We had to wait for a bit before our table was ready but the staff was warm and offered us some wine or water while we waited. They offer a tasting menu with wine pairing and it was basically a surprise until we sat down. The dishes are small and came out at a decent pace. The dishes were unique and I enjoyed them although I don't think I had anything that really blew my mind. Most of the food is raw/cooked at a low temperature but I am pregnant and they were able to substitute or cook things a bit more for me per my request. Instead of wine they were able to make me a mock tail that was quite good but there was no change in the pricing of the tasting despite me not having the wine. Overall a good experience that I would recommend to others looking to try an new unique dining experience.

Second time coming here, and I daresay the food has actually gotten better. Most dishes my wife and I had were a stellar 9.5/10, but there was one dish that was leagues above the rest: the white asparagus. It was mind blowing, an 11/10, the second best dish I've ever eaten in my whole life. Please come here, and experience some of the best food in your life. We had a 7 course meal with wine pairings for $400 in total (including tax and tip).1 - raw yellowtail with radish, Thai basil, and ginger broth (9.5/10). Quite subtle on the sour, sweet and acid flavors, delightfully enhancing the fresh yellowtail. 2 - scallop with black garlic and mayonnaise (10/10). Scallop was perfectly seared; I've never had scallop cooked better than this. The black garlic was delightfully sweet. Mayo was smooth and light.3 - lightly seared raw tuna with butter, cilantro, lime and chili flakes (7/10 on flavor, but 9/10 on the creativity). The light sear from the butter sauce elevated the texture, and the flavor was reminiscent of a Peruvian ceviche. 4 - white asparagus with truffle oil, Parmesan, and cashews (11/10). I cannot overhype this dish. It is utterly amazing. I would say go just for this one dish alone. The flavor was so out of this world, I couldn't even remember what it tasted like one minute after each bite. It's like a color blind person seeing a rainbow for a brief instant, and then being asked to describe what he just saw. I do not possess the ability to describe the flavor of this dish. 5 - filet mignon with chestnut, white almond and parsnip purée (9.5/10). Perfectly cooked, utterly delish and a delightful savory meaty contrast to the light flavors from before. 6 - vanilla ice cream, white chocolate and strawberry sorbet (9.25/10). The ice cream is the main show here, and the flavor of butter and vanilla punch thru with each bite. The sorbet was meh for me.7 - salty chocolate almond with salty almond cream (6/10). I'm not a sweets kinda guy, so for me a second dessert is really too much. Would've been perfectly content after the first dessert. Was too salty for me and almost ruined it, but the sweet port wine pairing saved it and really brought out the almond flavor, which was well appreciated. The wine pairings were nice, I particularly appreciated the Albariño with the scallop, the Pinot noir that mellowed out with the tuna, and the port wine bringing out the sweet almond flavor of the last dessert. Lastly, the decor and service were on point. I love how unassuming and unpretentious the decor is, and the chefs personally bringing out the food gives you a connection and appreciation for their cooking and service.

This was our one meal out while we were in NYC and so so happy I chose here. From being greeted with a glass of wine, to the phenomenal food with wine pairings there was not one thing I did not like. Take a chance and go, you will not regret it.
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best dining experiences I've had in New York.
The food was superb (I drool just thinking about the tuna), the wine was delicious, the staff and the chef were friendly and inviting, the ambience is the quintessential hip west village spot. I'm already trying to plan my next visit.

Came here for my fiancé's 30th birthday and was very impressed with the welcome drink of bubbly as we waited to be seated. Once we were seated, we were asked if we had any allergies or dietary restrictions, which I do have as a pescatarian. Chef Vince asked if we liked all fish, which we do. The food was very creative and flavorful, and the wine pairings were perfect. Only suggestion would have been to add in some more substance (pasta, bread, veggies) as it was very protein heavy and very rich food, so needed something on the lighter end to break it up, especially with all of the very plentiful wine pairings. Would love to go back and ask for more of a vegetarian forward offering!

tldr; make a reservation, go here, enjoy amazing food and service, be so satisfied at the end of the mealfrom the moment we walked in the door i knew this was going to be an amazing meal. the staff treated us fantastic, service was not stuffy and formal, it was top notch. the food, wow, i am still drooling over the dishes (i dream about the scallops). the pace of dinner was delightful, we weren't rushed, we enjoyed our drinks, it was just so nice. my only two issues (and they are of NO fault to the restaurant) is :1) we made a show reservations for 1230am (our dinner reservation was 930pm) - next time, no reservations after dinner so we can enjoy ourselves (and the staff did not rush us at all we ended up rushing ourselves. so stupid!!) 2) i love exploring and trying new restaurants, but now that I know about Coarse, I have to go back! sorry for those other restaurants i won't get to try.

Don't think about it. Just do it. Amazing atmosphere, attentive staff, and inventive and delicious dishes. Thoughtfully paired wine that just keeps coming perfectly complements the many courses. It's. Just. So. Good.
