We've been coming here for years and have always had a good experience. But tonight was awful. We had little kids with us and the food took an hour to come out. They didn't warn us or anything. And the manager was rude and seemed to not care. I hope it was an off night and that somebody reads this and looks into what happened!
Be the first to Replycrappiest calzone ever; Italian sausage sucked.
pricing wasn't worth it. Mike our server was taking his sweet time chatting it up with a female server behind the counter. We spent less time eating and more time waiting for the check. He did not deserve a 20% tip but gratuity "had to be included". He couldn't split a 5-6 way check, and as a group we tip our servers VERY well when they do. But when I called and asked how hard it was to split a 6 way check the woman said "not that hard; why?". awful and I wish I had asked to talk to a manager but I would probably be seen as a "Karen".
Be the first to ReplyFood-we got cauliflower, Cesar salad, and pizza to share.
Everything was super tasty, good portion size, and well seasoned. service- our server was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. Vibe- there was a lot going on. Definitely a family friendly environment. Lots of kids and folks all over. Drinks and pizza in the front and ping pong in the back.
Be the first to ReplyService was awesome, dining area very relaxed & good music.
Kids got the red pie & added basil A+ I got the red pie & added kalamata olives & the smoked mushroooms A++ & the Hubs got what our waitress told us would be the last Yalie. We hope not because it was just soooooo good! Solid cocktail, beer & wine list. Have fun finding the bathroom, see if u can locate it without asking first. Ping pong in the back, very sweet vibe. Will def come back.

I wanted pizza, a drink or two, and nice atmosphere the other night-and I got it at one of the good neighborhood hangout spots. This is a great spot to go with friends, especially when it's not super busy.
Be the first to ReplyWeird vibe.
Weird staff. Lot of dude staff. Rude staff. Mostly the problem is the staff. And the strange bathroom doors. Why are kids playing ping pong broadcast on a big screen? Weird. Just a weird place. Good food and drinks. But weird. So is the Michelle Obama mural. Like, why? What is the place trying to be? Weird.
Be the first to ReplyThe roasted cauliflower was disgusting.
My pizza was meh. My wife and son enjoyed their pizza, but not worth the $$$

We had a great time Saturday night celebrating our granddaughter's birthday. The four kids played ping pong while we waited for our table. We all enjoyed our pizza, the birthday girl shared a caramel sundae with her bestie and everyone left happy. Our server, Chris, was attentive and very friendly too!

I have debated writing this review ever since my visit to Comet Ping Pong due to my past positive experiences, great tasting pizza, and Comet's involvement with the surrounding Connecticut Ave community. On Saturday December 17 2022 at around 3pm, my family and friends were attended by a server who was severely under the influence. This person could barely walk, didn't write our orders down, or even entered our orders into the system. We had to remind them constantly about our food and each time he would stumble to and from our table. At one point, he was having so much difficulty walking, that he spilled beer on my relative (after having put their fingers inside the beer glass). Soon after, he was being attended by other employees there who were trying to give him food and water. This person clearly needed medical attention, but management didn't seem to care. The employees noticed we were watching them and they then brought over the food they were trying to give the intoxicated employee and acted as if the food was for us.We did get a new server towards the end of our dinner and I praise them for removing the appetizers from our check (we got our appetizers after finishing our entrees). It will be a long time before my family and I return to Comet Ping Pong. We ask that management vet their employees carefully and ask them to remain substance/alcohol free during their shifts. We also suggest some sort of name tag or uniforms for employees because it was difficult understanding whether this intoxicated employee was actually an employee or not.
Be the first to ReplyFood is decent.
Decent lively atmosphere.Service, meh.Referring to the hostess. I went twice, and it's like you're inconveniencing here. She doesn't greet you, say thank you, or show any pleasantries at all, actually the opposite. Just a lazy worker.
Be the first to ReplyThis a wonderful place.
I went to AU and surprisingly didn't come or order from here while there. My wife and I went here back on March 3rd, 2020 before seeing our friend Judy Heumann provide a book talk next door at Politics and Prose. We were very impressed and felt good supporting them in light of all the Pizzagate nonsense. It was National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day and there was a coupon on Caviar for select restaurants and we saw they had chocolate chip cookies. We ordered two chocolate chip cookies, a Ca-Lamb-Ity J's green pie, a Comet Taco Pizza red pie, and a Drive pizza. It was all wonderful like before and the chocolate chip cookies were some of the best we've had. We look forward to both ordering from here and dining in person again in the future.

We enjoyed our meal here on Friday when we visited with some family who live nearby. It's their local pizza spot, and while we were disappointed not to see the democratic satanic cabal (kidding! WE'RE KIDDING!), we had a great time here. We sat outside but we went in to play some ping pong (tables are in the back), and the atmosphere is festive and fun. The cocktails were definitely overpriced for what you got, but the apps we had were better: the lentil salad and the gravy meatballs. Re. the latter: the gravy is red sauce--they were good but nothing extraordinary. The salad was perfect for the hot weather: crispy cabbage, cold lentils, a zippy dressing and some creamy cheese on top. Pizzas were good for the most part. We weren't in love with the dough, which was bland and a bit dry, but toppings, etc. were well executed. The "hottie" was nice and spicy, but our favorite was the "stanley" with added mushrooms. For the sake of novelty, we also tried their "Big Mac" version, which wasn't necessarily bad, but it felt odd eating a deconstructed burger on top of pizza. No issues with the pepperoni. Our kiddo ended with some nonsensational scoop ice cream, which we also nibbled. Service was fine, but the section was too big for one person and there were a couple times when we needed something and had to go in and ask someone else. Overall, though, we dug this place and would be happy to go back.

I wanted to eat here out of curiosity because this place was focus of Pizzagate. Thank God no one was hurt that day. Anyway, I had the Simple Salad the vinegarette salad dressing. Really nice and light. For my pizza, I had the Jimmy. The Jimmy keeps it simple with red sauce, mozzarella and meatballs. I'd get this again, or maybe I'd try one of the many other pizzas on the menu! Oh...and I appreciate the excellent service. If time is a factor, this place was quick.
Be the first to ReplyThe waiter was super nice.
I'll give them that - but that's about it. They got our orders wrong, even after doubling back to confirm with us before putting the orders in. The "garlic knots" were also disappointing. It's misleading to even call them that. They are just 2 large challa type rolls with some Parmesan sprinkled on top and a bland marinara to dip in. They're big - you pull them apart and dip, nothing like a traditional garlic knot. Nothing. The little risotto balls were also lackluster. Watery almost. And bland. I had such fond memories of my last time there - maybe that added to the level of disappointment. I give 2 stars because the waiter was nice and the pizza crust wasn't soggy.
Be the first to ReplyGood food.
Loud though if you're hoping to have a conversation. They have a live band when we were there. We had the calambity j (greek pizza) and Smokey pizza. They were good pizza.

I don't live close by, but more than once I've been in the area and enjoyed Comet Ping Pong every time. My most recent time we arrived around 4:50 on a Friday evening (2 of us) and had open options for seating. By the time we left by about 6:30 the place was pretty full.Every time we've been everyone enjoys the pizza. There are some interesting options on the menu, but those with more or less traditional toppings are what we stuck to. The meatball topping was amazing and fresh on The Jimmy. We had a greek inspired pizza with lamb sausage, picked onions, and tzatziki- very good. The crust is tender with some good crisp to the outer edges. The beer options are always solid, with several quality craft options. If I were a local, this would be my go-to pizza spot.
Be the first to Replygreat vibe, even greater pizza.
i'm seeing a band tonight so my friend and i ordered a pie. cooked well, and our server answered our questions. will def come back again!
Be the first to ReplyComet Ping Pong has a unique and lively atmosphere.
Base thrums loudly in the background as projectors splash videos of ping pong champions onto the concrete walls. The back room even features several open ping pong tables, allowing guests to try their hand at the niche sport after they eat.But if you make the trip to Comet Ping Pong, which is always flooded with diners and does not take reservations on weekends, be prepared to wait a while. A LONG while. My party and I killed an hour and a half in a nearby bookstore waiting for a table, and after we ordered our pizzas, waited a full 75 minutes more before they were brought to us.A full three hours after my party had arrived at Connecticut ave, the waitress astutely acknowledged that "everything is super slow right now," and finally brought us the food.As for the pizza itself, I recommend the "Yalie," a take on New Haven-style thin crust with clams, onions, and garlic on top. It was delicious! I had no complaints about cuisine itself--only how long it took to arrive. The personal pizza size is a perfect serving for one. My crust was satisfying and crisp, and the olive oil drizzle on top added another great depth of flavor.Bottom line: if you're looking for great pizza in the Tenleytown/Chevy Chase area, I could easily recommend other spots such as Angelico's which offer food just as good without the long wait. But if you want to spend the whole evening waiting for pizza and playing ping pong with your friends, Comet is the spot for you.
Be the first to ReplyGreat pizza and service.
ย My only knock is that they are always sold out of XL T-shirts. ย Either I lose weight (doubtful) or I wait it out. ย Rock on Comet!
Be the first to ReplyGet the risotto balls! They are amazing.
Also, get the wings. The meat falls off the bone! The Smokey was fantastic.

Came here on a random Saturday afternoon and it was easy to find a seat! The service was fast, not the nicest but it reminded me of a no thrill, straight to the point casual place to eat where countless people/families come. The place was kind of loud but that may be exaggerated because there was a loud group of people sitting next to us. Atmosphere was nice and recommend going at least once because the inside is different from most places. Not to mention the ping pong tables and you can play ping pong in the back! We are vegetarian so we only got vegetarian dishes off the menu. We started with the Mac n' Cheese bites with marinara dipping sauce. I wouldn't get this, the marinara sauce was similar to tomato juice and tasted bland and the mac and cheese bites didn't have much taste either. We ordered the Hotty and the Smokey for the pizzas. The Hotty was alright, the sauce could use some spice and kick to it. The Smoky was also alright, seemed like they took the smoke level a bit too far.Overall decent but won't be coming back. I'd say it's worth the try, nothing special.
Be the first to ReplyI had like 7 pieces of this pizza.
It's amazing! Top dc pizza and really good vibes there. Super nice staff and cool venue
Be the first to ReplyThe pizza is average! It's a small pie for $15-$20.
However, there is an option to put potatoes on your pizza so that's unique! There are only 3 ping pong tables in the back of the restaurant and they are usually occupied.

I ordered pizza from Comet Ping Pong because I keep seeing it on DC best pizza lists. As someone with tastebuds and a mouth, I can't co-sign any of it. This pizza tastes like Comet is trying to outdo South Jersey in the category of Bisquick covered in ketchup. I just ordered pizza from another place to help me forget. :{
