Culinary bliss in Drenthe
As if there wasnโt a pandemicโฆโฆ Truly wonderful hosts and amazing food. We were treated on an unforgettable 7 course journey for an evening in this beautiful establishment. Praise for this wonderful experience in the north of The Netherlands. Modest, creative, exquisite, with an eye and taste for detail. We are grateful for this dining experience. Thank You!!
Be the first to ReplyGreat to be able to have fine dining again after the Covid lockdown.
Had the 7-course chefโs menu and the prestige wine pairing to accompany that. 4 delicious appetizers and 7 great courses with some amazing flavours: the asparagus with truffle, 4 preparations of celery and the asparagus icecream with strawberry. They were able to cater dietary restrictions (no seafood), although the 3 courses were all replaced by vegetarion alternatives. Wine pairing was excellent flavour-wise, with mainly German, Austrian, Spanish and Portugese wines.

The restaurant has been offering since the beginning of Corona take-away menus. We had tried in the beginning, which was not great quality. Now a year later, we have tried again and they have significantly improved. We ordered the Easter menu consisting of 4 courses: (1) salmon with spinach, kohlrabi and a sophisticated dressing of black currant. Very nice. (2) scallops with 'aardpeer' and miso. Also nice touches of dressing added with miso, hazelnut and citrus. (3) lambsneck with vegetables and jus. Nice to see quantity of vegetables to be significant. This was the only dish where you needed to hear something. (4) dessert which was a sophisticated egg with special effects. Really amazing and well done, but the calories!!!
Overall the menu was very good for taste and price/quality. You do not need significant cooking skills. You need though a steady hand to dress the dishes properly.
The menu is further accompanied by bread with butter and some sweets for coffee.
The only improvement which can be made is to advise for wines. For the rest perfect.
Very good indeed
Had a very lovely dinner here, slept like a baby in their hotel and enjoyed a luxurious breakfast: what more can one want?
