We had such a nice evening at Dos Urbana.
They have happy hour from 5-7 with drink specials plus $2 off appetizers. We got the guacamole and salsa both were yummy. We picked this place because it has multiple vegan options plus lots of meat to satisfy everyone. I had the mushroom special which was with Oaxacan Red Mole and rice and beans. Delicious, smoky and so filling. Husband had two tacos which were humongous. One mushroom and one veggie. Pro tip unless you are starving two tacos are probably plenty. Our teen had carne asada tacos. Nice ambiance, good service. Good casual spot.

We only came for drinks and will definitely be returning! The drinks were so yummy. I had a spiked agua fresca, and the bartender who was super cool, gave us a French martini with mezcal shot. The music was good and the vibe of the restaurant/bar was chill.

. Order the pan chicken mole , mole was good but barely enough on the dish. Chicken was also over cooked. Staff and atmosphere are great but I wouldn't go back. Unfortunately it's a no for me.

Great margaritas, great service, beautiful restaurant but the food needs work. Before all the bad - the service really was excellent. From start to finish we were very happy with everyone we interacted with. The sweet corn tamal tots are great and are the only thing I would recommend. I do wish the habanero crema had some kind of heat to it but it was just semi flavored sour cream. Still not bad. The smoked beet tostada tasted like I was licking the actual smoker. The smoke was so overwhelming you couldn't taste anything else on the plate. Apparently it's a common complaint because the server readily understood and offered to take it off our tab for us. The tacos are hit or miss. We tried the carne asada, carnitas and arabe. They were all edible but the first two were almost bland and the arabe was good but had so much going on that you couldn't taste the lamb. The pie's they had for dessert currently seemed like a weird add on the menu and a huge missed opportunity for an on theme flan dessert. The key lime pie was good but the chocolate caramel pie was a flop. We would go back for happy hour drinks but I don't think we'd stick around for dinner.

Service was good, happy hour drinks were okay and the food was great. Enjoyed the tamal
Be the first to ReplyDos Urban Cantina offers a solid twist on Mexican cuisine
Dos Urban Cantina offers a solid twist on Mexican cuisine with new unique takes on traditional dishes and also offers authentic classics. Love the vibe and the staff. The current starter - smoked beet tostada hits all the flavor notes and delivers. Sweet corn tamal is delicious. Margaritas are great and their current Bang Bang Pie deserts shouldn't be missed.

This was on my list to try for the longest time, and the fact that they had a daily hh was just the cherry on top! We got to take advantage of amazing deals while enjoying the delicious food and drinks. Our service was extremely fast as well though we had to flag down our waiter a couple of times to get his attention. The skinny marg was refreshing and light - at a steal at $7 during hh too! The cauliflower wings were my favorite, and the actual chicken wings were also delicious. The dip trio was a great dish to share as an appetizer. The spicy ceasar was super tasty and excellent with the rest of the dishes as well. The baja fish taco was definitely the best, but all of the tacos were amazing, flavorful, cheap, and big portions! The tortillas were so soft but with a perfect crisp, and the tacos were STUFFED with all the good stuff. Food was truly amazing, and deals were even better during happy hour. Such a great find in Logan Square!

I ordered the red enchiladas and my enchiladas fell apart after one bite. The food was not warm enough either. Drinks were okay. Was not impressed at all.
Be the first to ReplyHappy hour of course is the best hour.
If you're planning on coming here, make it during the evening on a weekday. Dos Urban Cantina is a good little Mexican American restaurant in Logan Square on Armitage. Kind of a limited menu, and prices there are a bit high, which is the biggest complaint. The drinks are better than the food, especially considering the portions and prices. After hearing about how good this is, we made sure to get there and finally did. It's only open in the evening. The first couple hours are happy hour. It's $5 for a House Margarita, good deal. We got several of these. It's made with Limonada, Lunazul Blanco, and Orange Liqueur. This unfortunately also is small. It's only a little glass. The happy hour price makes up for it. As for the food, it was less impressive. Seems to be a lack of choices for vegetarians. Grilled Veggie Tacos was what we got. It's $5 each, for a small ass one. This comes topped with black beans, salsa, and seasonal vegetables. Good flavor. There just needed to be more. Flavors are good. It may not have been worth the wait but we found a few other good places around here. That may make it worth heading over this way to try more things.

I'm going to give Dos Urban another try in case it was just an off night, but so far, not impressed. The drinks are solid. I really enjoyed the margaritas. I'd come back just for drinks, no doubt about it. The starters were also pretty good. I really liked the tamal. My friend ordered the enchiladas and I ordered two tacos. They were huge servings without much flavor, and the steak was way overcooked. In both of our dishes, flavor was lacking and they were just bland but over salted. Too much salt and nothing else. The tortillas for the tacos were pretty good overall but the fillings were disappointingIt LOOKED great but the flavor and textures didn't add up. Hoping it's better next time because it's a cute spot!

They are amazing! After we had terrible service at middle brow we came here and I wish we came here first. The best. They even gave us a round of shots. You need to come here!!
Be the first to ReplyCame here with a group of seven people for dinner.
We were hoping to sit outside but told they were unable to accommodate us outside even though there were enough tables and chairs. We sat by the window instead. The inside of the restaurant is great looking, lots of plants and beautiful decor. We ordered the trio of dips. We like them all, except the pumpkin seed hummus which was very salty. We ordered each of the tacos. Steak and chicken verde were yummy. The carnitas taco was tasty except mine came with a GIANT piece of fat. The veggie taco was good, so was the fish. The mushroom taco was my least favorite.

My friend recommended this place recently and wow did it not disappoint! The restaurant had a great atmosphere and the staff was very friendly. The food was delicious and the drinks were well made! I went during the happy hour which had excellent deals on the drinks and apps. The original margarita was so refreshing and the Crispy Chipotle Cauliflower is a must try!

Wonderful atmosphere and the staff could not be friendlier. But the food! Oh my, the tamal tots and crema habaniero, um, we were all good there and everything else - fantastic - was the bonus. I can't say enough good things. These people know what they're doing. Oh my. Go. You will be very happy. Go.
Be the first to ReplyI came here with a group last month.
There were positives and negatives for this restaurant. The restaurant is more of a 2.5/5. The restaurant is spacious, a rarity in an area like Logan Square. The waiters were nice and had great customer service skills the whole time. Each drink was delicious. My party ordered tequila shots and margaritas. The dinner gradually spiraled downhill when the food came out. There were several issues we had with the food. The first issue is that some dishes had such weird and off-putting ingredients. For example, several dishes had something called pumpkin hummus in it. It was nasty! Its common knowledge that pumpkin hummus doesn't belong in Mexican food. I made sure to ask the nice waiters to not put the "hummus" in my tacos after trying it with the apps. My sister made the mistake of keeping the hummus in her tacos. It introduced a weird, grainy texture to her tacos. The second issue is that some dishes were hit or miss. Appetizers like the tamal tots were tasty. They were perfectly fried and had a great crema on the side. However, my tacos were gross. I ordered a chicken verde taco and a fish taco. I thought to myself "chicken tacos are a safe bet right?". I discovered that I was completely wrong. The chicken taco looked like a Caesar salad and the worst part is that the meat had a weird texture that ruined the taco. The fish taco was weird as well for different reasons. It had awkwardly sliced tomatoes instead of diced. They also threw a ton of pickled vegetables which threw off the flavor. Had I kept the pumpkin hummus on there, I would not have been able to eat it. Both tacos were barely edible. Both dishes needed more seasoning too. When the apps taste better than the entree, you know you have a problem. The third issue is that the menu was not cohesive. It was obvious that the restaurant was run by a white guy pretending to know what Mexican food is like. When I glanced at the menu, I thought "Good Lord", because it had tacos, Korean style cauliflower wings, and brunch style mushroom toast. The restaurant needs to pick a lane in what type of cuisine they focus on. Overall, Dos Urban has some good qualities like the apps, drinks, and staff, but is unfocused and serves weird stuff under the guise of being "inspired" by Mexican cuisine. Please do yourself and your wallet a favor by going to an authentic mom and pop restaurant instead where you will get more flavorful food.

Hmmm, how can I say this? My food tasted like happiness, like seeing a best friend that you haven't seen in a very long time, like vacation, like a hug, like a gift, like a surprise proposal. I saved some of it because I was not ready to let it go and it was even better the second day. I fell into a deep depression after it all disappeared into my belly. I would eat that every single day if I could. Just perfect. That will probably be my last meal if I ever commit a crime and get the death sentence. Thank you very much Dos Urban Cantina

I visited for the first time in a year, mostly because my last dinner there was not great. I felt they were getting back up to speed in 2021. Unfortunately in 2022I cannot recommend Dos Urban. First the menu is limited, including the drinks. For wine there is red, white, and rose. We tasted the red I could not believe for the only red wine offered it was so bad.The food: chicken tacos, no flavor, no available hot sauce, the enchilada equally lack any kind of flavor.
Be the first to ReplySad to say how much this place has fallen.
The quality has plummeted. They used to have a much more ambitious menu. Now it is standard tacos, guac, and burritos. What's worse is they are barely edible. There are so many better places to get Mexican food.

Decided to take myself out for dinner for some Mexican food and this restaurant didn't disappoint!! The smoked ribs and fish tacos were delicious. The ribs just fell off the bone!!! The chocolate cake was very moist and is a good sharing portion.

Be the first to ReplyWe came here on a midweek night for their happy hours.
The inside was dimly lot and very spacious. They had a bar area with high tops at the entrance and then a separate area for lower tables. We chose to stay I. The bar area. There weren't many customers dining in, and the staff was very welcoming and took good care of us. We started off with their Tamal Tots. These crispy sweet corn tamal pieces served with habanero crema. It sounds delicious, but I would have preferred som real heat from the habanero. It's a creative dish for sure. Not authentic but definitely creative. You'll probably never find these in a Mexican home, but they were good. A traditional tamal will be very soft and moist. These were very dry and crispy. I would still definitely recommend these. I also ordered their carne Asada and carnitas raco. The carne Asada was delicious. The carne Asada had good flavor and very tender. It was served with roasted tomato Salsa, black beans no cebolla y celantro. The carnitas was served the same but instead did the roasted tomato salsa, this one had salsa verde. Which has a more citrus taste a perfect complement for a fatty taco of carnitas. Unfortunately, they served a healthy version of carnitas and perhaps wasn't even cooked the proper way. It certainly lacked that fatty taste and seasoning. I'm not sure if I'd order that taco again. We also ordered their margaritas. These were tasty, but was a little disappointed to see that it was already premixed and being served out of a draft hose. Margaritas are best when made from scratch. Overall, I would still definitely come back. But not until they expand their menu. Why is more being offered for takeout and not for their dine in customers?

Had Kaya (SP) as our waitress tonight and had an amazing dinner. Was so impressed with the staff and atmosphere yet again. Sat in the dining room but thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The vegetable taco was amazing. Couldn't recommend more for flavorful authentic Mexican.
Be the first to ReplyUnfortunately Dos Urban's takeout/delivery service
Unfortunately Dos Urban's takeout/delivery service continues to decline. Ordered a full order of "spicy crunchy wings" (as I have for the past two years). The wings were not spicy , not crunchy-mostly soggy, and the order included 3 drummettes and 19 flats(what kind of crap is that?) I called the restaurant to give feedback on this order and the person who answered the phone could care less. Perhaps they will care about this one-Star rating.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is missing the mark.
They are in a good location and a very cute space. Our server was very nice, and the margaritas were delicious. But the food just isn't hitting the mark. Everything could have used some salt. The salsa was watery and flavorless. The guac was bland and sad. The pumpkin seed hummus could only muster up a "ohh that's...Interesting?" from all three of us. The tacos were, again, under seasoned. And overpriced. They are charging $6 for one taco. The $2 tacos from street vendors have more flavor :/The potential is there...I am confident that a menu revamp (and some dang salt) could put this place on the map!

I love this place!!! All of the dishes are consistent and the service is great! They have allot of awesome items on the menu but make sure to ask about the specials! There is always something amazing on! Also happy hour is 5-7 pm every day! House Margaritas are 7 bucks instead of 10, beers are $2 bucks off and none of there beers are over $6 a beer before the happy discount so most are 4 bucks or less!! This place rocks!
