Dulse and Brose Portree Reviews
Very pleasant evening
Great atmosphere, charming staff (especially our multi talented farmer/accountant/waiter) and good food, although a very limited menu which seems to be common on Skye (we suspect the country wide shortage of staff to blame). We would definitely go back.
Ehhhhhmazing!
This restaurant Was Ehhhmazing. The food Was hummy! The waiter called βChrisβ is very kind I am away from home but I felt I Was inthere. Shout out to me that loves Sporting CP and Victor Gyokeres. I loved this night. The others restaurants around were very sad and the staff was very rude and Lazy.
A sure value
Better to make a reservation for this popular restaurant. Fast service, pleasant surroundings. The burger is original and the fish n chips delicious and very digestible.
Excellent food, worth the wait
We were able to get a table at 5:30 without a reservation, so you can always try coming early to one of the Portree restaurants if you donβt have a reservation. The food was delicious, with many unique ingredients. We had the soup of the day and two kinds of fish. My only complaint would be that the food took an hour to arrive, which apparently was because they, like many, are short on staff.
Comfortable Atmosphere - Great Menu
Enjoyed a comfortable and quiet dinner. The artichoke and wild mushroom risotto with a glass of Rioja was a wonderful end to a day of traveling. Menu had a number of great options I wanted to try. Service and food was exceptional.
Would recommend
Such a lovely restaurant. Amazing food, nice wine list, beautiful setting and the most perfect hospitality from Chris. Perfect!
Delicious
Delicious pan seared monkfish and then fresh bbq cod. Such a well designed restaurant and a warm, cosy atmosphere. Staff were professional and helpful. Absolute favourite place to stay and eat in Portree.
Warmth
We encountered this restaurant casually arriving in Portree after an exhausting drive from the southern most part of England. The warmth of the place was welcoming almost as much as the fantastic staff. A pleasant note in the roughness of the isle. The food absolutely superb: ingredients are blended with rare mastery into succulent yet elegant dishes.
Fantastic experience!
Our first night on the Isle of Skye couldnβt start better! We enjoyed every second of this incredible dinner with local food and sustainable raw produce. Couldnβt recommend more.
Nice atmosphere, very disappointing food
The atmosphere and menu were good. The food was very poor. The sweet potato soup was dark brown, thick and unappealing. The burger was possibly the worst burger Iβve ever eaten - rock hard, overdone and tasteless. The beef cheek was also overcooked. Very disappointing π’
Great food and excellent service
Best place we have eaten on Skye. Great food, locally sourced produce and lovely atmosphere. The service was impeccable and Chris who served us had great knowledge of the local area and must dos during our visit.
Reservations are essential and parking can be difficult.
With a reservation we were seated quickly. Service was great and the staff very friendly and accommodating. The food is good, not great. The duck starter was very good. It was a confit leg and a fritter. She isn't a fan of duck and I had to take it away from her so I could have some. I had salmon with chive hollandaise which was heavy and far too peppery; it overpowered the flavor of the salmon. The potatoes and baby broccoli were quite good. She had the lamb burger which was apparently chopped rather than ground. That, combined with a very crispy crust, made it difficult to cut since she didn't want the bread. The flavor was not bad, but a bit salty (no, she didn't add salt). Chips were very good.

We ate dinner at this restaurant and it was packed with people, primarily Americans. It's essential that you have reservations. They were turning away people who showed up without reservations. Parking is difficult but not impossible to find. Inside, the restaurant is modern. We were greeted by a waiter and shown to a table. I ordered the lamb burger and my wife ordered the wester ross salmon filet. Our meals came in around 15 minutes and looked great. The burger came with chips and a small serving of special cole slaw. The salmon was served on a bed of mashed potatoes and kale, and then topped with Hollandaise sauce. We felt both meals were excellent. We would recommend this restaurant. Just be sure to make reservations weeks in advance.
Great bar and restaurant.
Fresh and upscale in tired portree. Friendly service. Far better than other in-town options.
Nice dinner here.
A few good vegetarian options. The soup of the day was excellent, They make their own bread, which was great. Good service. But reservations are necessary. A nice environment for a hotel restaurent.
Stellar seafood restaurant with great views of Portree.
Seafood is super fresh and comes in many forms. The seafood platter is the best seller menu item, and I can completely understand why. You get about 6 different types of seafood in portions of 2 which are generous and delicious to eat with their artisan bread. They also have rotating seasonal specials, all of which are fresh and unique to establishment. Almost all of the food is locally sourced within the area. Services is also great and seating is abundant. Reservations here are must, especially because of the accommodations frequent here for all meals. I will definitely be back here again when I am in the area.
We were super lucky to get a reservation for the same night.
They are shorthanded and a little slow but the ambience is great. The waiters were super nice guys. And the food was amazing. We got the seafood platter appetizer and it was huge. Everything on it was really good. We were full after that and we still had food coming. I had the sweet potato tagine which was good even though I was already stuffed. And my husband had fish and chips, which was giant! I couldn't resist a dessert menu, and even though I was ready to pop I had an amazing dessert. We also loved their drinks.
Overall, I would rate the food here as a 4 but the service
Overall, I would rate the food here as a 4 but the service as like a 2. Our table tried several appetizers, all quite good. One was a wild mushroom on toast and that one was delicious and unique. My husband ordered a steak, which came with roast potatoes and veggies and was good. This is a bit of a pricier restaurant, which is nice every once in awhile but, when spending more it would be nice if the service matched. If you know you usually need your water refilled you might as well ask for extra when they take your order because good luck seeing them again. Ditto on other drinks. Also, we had to wait quite awhile to be able to pay, which they then said they would charge it to a room (fine), but then when we got up and were leaving someone stopped the last member of our party and made them pay using their credit card, so that was confusing as we were ready to pay the first time we asked about it. If I were to return to Portree I would probably try another restaurant before returning here, as there are a variety of options at different price points within the area.
Stopped by here almost by accident.
So much is closed in the tourist "off season". The food was great, and the service even better! My wife had the pumpkin and sweet potato turine and asked to make sure there were no gluten containing ingredients, and the just brought her a bunch of gluten free bread. The waitress talked to us about the area and where we'd been as long as we wanted. Great place and the food was excellent.
This was one of the best, if not the best, meals I've had
This was one of the best, if not the best, meals I've had in my life. The smokiness of the added was a perfect balance to the mild white fish. The pinot grigio was the perfect complement. The orange and vanilla pannacotta was creamy and the locally sourced berries were heavenly. This place has great, attentive and friendly staff.

We were there for dinner and are extremely happy that we did. The service was wonderful; John our waiter was both knowledgeable about the food and very entertaining as well. Speaking of food, every course was fantastic. We had Cream of Cauliflower soup and they had to be the creamiest soup I've ever had in my life, it was like it had been whipped! for our main, Soy glazed chicken and then an extremely flavorful raspberry tart for dessert.
