This restaurant was recommended by our Tour Guide, Eva.
No better recommendation than from a local....this food was absolutely incredible!! Sorry for the pictures but we dug into the food!! We could not finish it all. You can probably share a schnitzel. My wife had a vegetarian 4 halve eggs with green sauce and boiled potatoes. Again, a spectacular dish and perfectly cooked potatoes!!! LOVED THIS RESTAURANT. Not to mention, our friend Marlon had no complaints at all--this is a first!!
Be the first to ReplyStopped in for my first German apple wine (Frankfurt style).
It is unpasteurized so it cannot be enjoyed in the U.S. in the same way. Service was quick and friendly.

Our favorite place to stop in Frankfurt Sachsenhausen for traditional regional 'Hessen' food is Ebbelwoi Unser. Good beer, excellent apple wine, traditional dishes (relatively authentic), friendly staff, and English menus for our non-german-speaking friends. I personally love their potato sausages (Wurst) and the Handcheese (Kaese) as a starter. Will stop-over again on my next visit to Frankfurt.

Pretty exceptional experience! The Apple wine is a must-have, and their unique steak butter was delicious. We called ahead and they kindly kept the restaurant open for us as we were arriving close to closing time. Were very happy we had a chance to experience!

the transgender host at the door was impatient and kept yelling at us for daring to ask if there're any seats available.
Be the first to ReplyI had dinner on a Friday night on a recent work trip.
The staff was welcoming to a solo diner in an establishment built for groups. The atmosphere was energetic. I had the Frankfurter Schnitzel with boiled potatoes. Boiled potatoes are boild potatoes in any language, but the green sauce added a satisfying dimension to the potatoes. The Schnitzel was a typical ally large portion. Thankfully, they offer a half portion with one vs. two. The local Apfelwein (hard apple cider) was good and popular with the locals. If it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me.

We were looking for authentic German food and we found it! Everything is made in the restaurant. Great food, excellent service, promptly served. Our party of four started with the sampler appetizer. Entrees included smoked sausage, schnitzel salad, rump roast, and meat ball. All hearty servings. To finish it off, we had two orders of the Apple rings with vanilla ice cream. We enjoyed our dinner very much. I'd highly recommend this place. Friendly and cozy. Try the Apple wine. Bring cash as no credit is offered and make a reservation. (A line was forming when we left.)

Both the Potato Sausage and vibe were on point! Very rowdy on a Friday night but was a great authentic German experience. The homemade apple wine was also awesome. Will be back!!

It was busy with locals for sure. The service was kinda slow but the food was awesome. It was a salad (that was an extra cost to the meal) and a pork schnitzel meal with potato's. The schnitzel was GIANT & very tasty. It came with a green herb sauce & a cream cheese style for the schnitzel. What was cool is our Serbian server laid 4 shots of schnapps on us for free. If you're looking for authentic German...go here!
Be the first to ReplyGood authentic German food at a fair price.
CASH ONLY do bring Euros. Make a reservation but know it is shared tables. Good fun nonetheless. While you don't need to tip, the owner tried to get us to tip. I did because I liked the service and had a nice time. And it was business related. That said, I sensed an attempt to prey on tourists. Probably works. At least we got two shots for our tip (actually offered prior to our tip). Have fun.

I feel like this restaurant serves the food of my family from the past. Comfort food filled with love. We ordered the Schnitzel and an appetizer that included traditional Handkase cheese(which was amazing here). Both dishes are worthy of being ordered. Watching other people in the restaurant I could see everyone was pleas d with their food. Loved seeing the interaction with what must have been locals that come here a lot.

so hard to find, neither the concierge in our hotel nor the taxi driver had any idea where it was, despite the fact that it's listed as one of the best restaurants in frankfurt on tripadvisor...still, i think it was worth the confusion. literally, my only goal for frankfurt was to have schnitzel & man oh man, did this fit the bill. so thin, so crispy... the potato wurst was also delicious. we also had to try the apfel wine which was so refreshing, i drank too much (1/2 a glass) too quickly & got super drunk for about 15 minutes. the only downside is that we happened to be there at the hottest time of year (high 90's) & the lack of air conditioning made me sad. that said, this definitely had an old world feel & i highly recommend.

This was one of the best places we ate during our visit to Germany. They have an English menu available if needed. I hate the meatball meal and it was great!
Be the first to ReplyMy girlfriend and I were in Frankfurt for just a couple
My girlfriend and I were in Frankfurt for just a couple days. We didn't know much about the city or what to do. We asked our hotel receptionist for a recommendation of a restaurant with good German food. We were reluctant to go, since it was a somewhat far from our hotel, but I am sure glad we did! This place was filled with locals, with a wonderful atmosphere. The food was amazing and I enjoyed every bite. The staff is an amazing group that worked to sit us quickly even though the place was packed! One of the staff members gets up and sings some German folk songs every so often. With the food, beer, locals, and songs we had an absolutely amazing time. To top it off, the restaurant only takes cash, and I was a few euros short. They told me no worries even though I told them I would run to an ATM real quick. I still went and grabbed some cash and returned to give them a nice tip for the wonderful time and apologize for being a few bucks short. They said it was completely unnecessary and immediately gave us a couple of drinks. If you want an authentic German atmosphere and food, go to this place!
Be the first to ReplyIf you are looking for an authentic local German restaurant
If you are looking for an authentic local German restaurant then you are in luck! I visited with my boyfriend and after a long and uneventful day we asked our hotel for a recommendation. We debated on going but are so glad we did! They were pretty busy with locals but really worked to get us seated quickly. I had an apple wine which was so good. I also enjoyed the potato sausage, which is without a doubt the best sausage I have ever had in my entire life. My boyfriend had the Slaughter plate. He inhaled his and loved it. Unfortunately he dropped some and was disappointed because it was so good! There is definitely a cozy local atmosphere. One of the staff even got up and started singing in German a few times throughout the evening. It made a boring day for us, one of the best days of our trip. It was such an incredible experience. We fully intend on returning and HIGHLY SUGGEST it to anyone visiting Frankfurt! **They also have english menus which was especially useful.-I did.
