Scenic popular higher end eatery
Have to book reservations 2 weeks in advance at least, very popular place to eat. We ate lunch here twice, had nice tables near the fire and windows overlooking the canyon. Excellent service. We loved our waiter “Jordan” and our busboy “John”. Both were very attentive and kind. Food menu is a bit lacking, limited menu. However the taste was great. Loved the French onion soup. My husband admired their thoughtful and expensive beer menu. I absolutely loved the “Garden Mule” mixed drink they have. I got the tomato’s and cheese my 2nd day and it made my stomach a bit upset. Made it a big difficult to hike. But all the other food was delicious and good.

Easily the best food offerings in the park and you can't beat the view. We had breakfast here (reservations are not required for breakfast). We were seated promptly and received water immediately but waited about 45 minutes before our order was taken and another 45 minutes before it arrived. All in all, it was a 2-hour affair. The omelet and breakfast quesadilla were great, but don't eat here for a quick bite.

We had an A+ dinner at El Tovar! The service was fantastic, the dining room is historic and beautiful, with amazing views of the Canyon, and the food was great! We had the cheese board and meat to start, and the pork chop, which was delicious. Our teenage daughters had spaghetti off the kids’ menu, and were very happy!

I knew it wouldn’t be good once I tried the bread. Everything tasted old, previously frozen, and cheap. Nothing was fresh. We ordered the crab stack, ribeye, and chicken. The crab stack had avocado that looked like it had sat out all day. The ribeye was mostly fat and had a weird taste. The chicken was dry and the Marsala gravy was as thick as paste. Overall, way overpriced for not good food.
Be the first to ReplyGood food but lackluster response to special occasion
The food was good in the restaurant, but we were surprised that even though they asked if it was a special occasion when making reservation, they did nothing, but say "happy birthday."

Had a wonderful view of the canyon ridge and lovely service. The food was fine, though unimpressing. Nice Apple cider mule cocktail. French onion soup was delicious. Salmon almondaise was mediocre with crunchy rice and soggy zucchini. Flourless chocolate cake was disappointing. All in all, not worth the price.

The staff are just amazing…like our waitress who came to the park 12 years ago and stayed! She was just fantastic. As was Joe at our dinner. Lots of pride and pure joy from all of them. And the food was delicious!
Be the first to ReplyGlad I treated myself to a dinner at El Tovar
This was a solo visit to the Canyon and the first time that I wasn’t here camping. I decided to treat myself to a really good meal this time around and made a reservation at El Tovar. Overall, I was extremely pleased with the experience. I loved having a table right near the fireplace. The server and his assistant were outstanding and I appreciate the food recommendations. The homemade bread was delicious. I had French Onion soup and a salmon dinner. Both were wonderful. And I finished it all off with the flourless chocolate cake. The prices were fair for the dishes that I ordered and I thought the food was great. I’m glad I experienced a meal at El Tovar.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful view and lovely lunch
During a recent stay at Grand Canyon Village, we tried the El Tovar dining room for lunch, and we were not disappointed. The lunch menu was limited however there was something for everyone. I chose the soup and quiche of the day which was a crab bisque and spinach/goat cheese quiche. The food was delicious and fresh. My husband opted for a burger and fries which were very filling. The fries were truffle parmesan and maybe a little too heavy on the truffle oil. We also ordered dessert which was also very tasty. We did not eat dinner that night - the lunch from El Tovar filled us up until the next day. The staff was helpful and attentive about our meal and also our visit to the Grand Canyon in general. I would absolutely recommend El Tovar - it was a nice break in our day of hiking around the Canyon.

This dining room was recommended as the best place to eat near the train stop at the Grand Canyon. We weren't able to get into the main dining room but were seated in the room that you enter to the right. We ordered the Vegetarian Chili. It was ok - but very reminiscent for us of opening a can of Amy's Vegetarian Chili, pouring it over homemade rice, and sprinkling some shredded cheese on top (which we do fairly often at home). Tasted just like that. So, not particularly impressed with the chili, though thankful to have found a vegetarian option. Nice historic location with views into the Grand Canyon.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Location and Food
Located in El Tovar hotel - the grand lady of the canyon, you can’t ask for a better location to dine. The food is delicious but pricy. Lunch is less expensive but hard to make if u are hiking. The wait staff is knowledgable and attentive. Lots of local ingredients used. Make a reservation on line. It is difficult, if not impossible, to get a table without one especially during the busy season and the hostess staff is not friendly or especially helpful. It’s a must for at least one meal during your visit.
