We stayed at the El Cielo Hotel for four nights at the start of our trip to Colombia. I actually wanted to give it four out of five points. Compared to the many other hotels we stayed in Colombia, it deserves five points. Pros: Quiet location in a side street in the Poblado district Safe area Very nice interior architecture Very good a la carte breakfast with the best waffles in the country Very friendly staff Comfortable bed Nice roof terrace Cons: Standard double room is much too small if, like us, you have two large suitcases and find them difficult to open. Closet space much too small. Tip: Book a larger room category. We were too "stingy" and couldn't upgrade on site because the hotel was fully booked. Swimming pool on the roof terrace looked nice and stylish, but very small, so we didn't go in. View from the room (2nd floor) unspectacular Despite the window being closed, you can hear the music from the hotel restaurant in the room. Everything in the room was a bit noisy. Unfortunately the air conditioning was a bit noisy when you were lying in bed.

Everything was speculative! Especially the hospitality and food. We tried the restaurant and the bistro and both were fantastic. Each person was super friendly and helped us with anything we wanted. The rooms are very comfortable and have good products. Perfect.
Be the first to ReplyGreat stay at El Cielo
We had a very nice stay at El Cielo. The rooms are very comfortable and luxurious, and the service was fantastic. We enjoyed our delicious breakfasts and dinners, and the staff was super helpful. They arranged airport transfers and a tour for us, and all were flawless. Beautiful meals! We did the fine dining experience, and it was so fun (and delicious).
Be the first to ReplyA wonderful stay in Medellin
my husband and I stayed three nights in this beautiful hotel. Everything about it is a five star. The staff is wonderful the setting is beautiful the food is perfect five star rated and we would come back for sure. and next time we might even try the 17 course, Michelin star restaurant We love the city, and El Cielo was a perfect place and a perfect neighborhood to see all the wonderful areas of Medellin!

Be the first to ReplyMellowing in Medellín
My husband and I traveled to Medellín for pleasure in February 2024 as a part of a multi-city custom Colombian tour. This hotel was recommended by the tour company and is located in a hip and happening neighborhood, Poblado, so walkable to cool restaurants and shops. But it’s hard to find motivation to leave the green sanctuary of the hotel. The ambiance on the inside is very serene and relaxing. The food and service with every meal was beyond reproach. The signature cocktails at the bar are well balanced. We enjoyed an extensive made-to-order menu for breakfast and lunch as well as the multi-course tasting menu for dinner (reservations required well in advance). The hotel had many beautiful little nooks to rest and relax, including the rooftop pool area, the first floor courtyard, and the 5th floor reception area. The rooms are modern, comfortable, and well appointed. We will stay there if ever in Medellín again.
Be the first to ReplySo disappointed....do NOT stay here if you are more than 1 person and more than 1 night!!!!
I read prior reviews, which were excellent, but I must have been in another hotel! Very beautiful woodwork and the rooftop is perfect, although only 6 lounges by the pool. Breakfast was also fine. BUT....the rooms are extremely small. There is an amazing area called a closet that even a sport coat or suit will not fit. AND...1 drawer for clothes in the entire room, although we were encouraged to use the shelf below the small desk. As we were a couple staying 3 nights, we could only put our suitcases on a rack and a chair to be able to have our cloths in the same room. Totally NOT LUXURY...not even adequate. The lobby assistance was awful as they had no maps, city info, and could not even recommend a restaurant, other than the hotel's. They only offered one tour, which was very long and expense...we found many other wonderful options, but had to do our own searching. When issues were raised with the management, they were completely non-responsive. Add to this, it is one of the most expensive hotels in Medellin. Good luck if you choose this place.
Be the first to ReplyAvoid, avoid, avoid!
Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. This is a perfect example of The Emperor's New Clothes. Form for form's sake, without rhyme or reason. Lacking basic amenities in-room glasses, mini-bar, coffee/tea. No place to sit, though there was a tub right next to the bed, with a neon light circling it if you wanted to stretch out.
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best Luxury Hotel Experiences in the World
Spectacular hotel with amazing luxury suite style rooms and impeccable service. The restaurant has amazing local and international cuisine with very reasonable pricing if visiting from the US. It’s the ‘Ritz Carlton’ of Medellin. If you can spend a few nights definitely do it. Incredible hotel experience and is a must see if visiting the city.
Be the first to ReplyMore style than substance
A beautiful hotel but surprisingly disappointing. It looks absolutely gorgeous but when we were shown to the room it was disappointingly sparse. No mini bar ,no coffee machine, no welcome package- just a bottle of water and some tiny toiletries. The whole experience was like this - no little niceties. We eat in the ElCielo restaurant - again more style than substance. There were a couple of standout courses but generally they sacrificed quality of food for their ridiculous “sensory experiences “ So - an attractive hotel in a good location with pleasant staff but decidedly underwhelming.
Be the first to ReplyOne of my favorite hotels of all time
I had such a dreamy experience at elcielo! The hotel organized airport pickup for me and we’re willing to help organize other transfers and activities. Upon arrival they had me sit in their lobby and enjoy a welcome beverage of my choice while they checked me in—so much nicer than the typical check in process! They gave me a free bottle of wine as well and even offered to switch it out to a different kind of wine if I’d prefer. The room was very clean, cozy and modern. Tv comes with Netflix. The hotel itself is stunning with the five story garden and rooftop with 360 views of the city. I spent an hour or so reading in the pool and it was just lovely. Pool area is small but there weren’t many people there. I dined at the restaurant in the evening. It’s an 18-course menu and I did the 6-glass wine pairing. I enjoyed the whole experience from the chocolate hand spa experience to grinding my own corn kernels to make arepas. The staff were so lovely. I decided to have the dinner in Spanish as I need to practice, and they never made me feel bad about my lackluster spanish skills + were patient with me ensuring that I understood everything. Breakfast was included in my hotel booking and was equally as enjoyable! Im sad I only stayed one night. Would absolutely come back and will recommend this to my friends.
Be the first to ReplyRomantic Anniversary Experience
Wonderful luxurious experience! Everyone is so attentive and professional. The hotel is gorgeous and when I tell you had the best sleep of my life in the king size bed and Egyptian sheets. My husband and I ordered massages at 8pm and it was very romantic. There was a bottle of champagne and flowers waiting for us with a handwritten note congratulating us, it was very personal and sweet. Thank you for an amazing experience!
Be the first to ReplyGreat Service: small Rooms
Everything was wonderful in this new 28-room hotel: service, food, and location. The only negative was the size of the rooms and the lack of any place to put away or hang up our clothes. All-in-all I'd stay there again but would take fewer clothes.
Be the first to ReplyGorgeous hotel
This hotel is top notch!!! Every single aspect is perfect! Rooms are spacious, elegant, quiet, and clean. Service like I have never experienced! I especially loved the communication on WhatsApp. Every staff person was helpful, friendly, and kind. Restaurant and shopping suggestions were great. They secured us a reservation at a popular restaurant for dinner when nothing was available. Breakfast is included w/ multiple dishes to choose from along w/ coffee and juice choices. The rooftop pool and bar are both gorgeous w/ amazing views. The hotel is located on a quiet street and is walkable to most shopping, bars, and restaurants. I highly recommend El Cielo!! Thank you for a fantastic stay!!

Incredible experience. The concierge staff truly made our stay memorable. Most of the staff speak English very well - I basically only used Spanish if I wanted to. The room was beautiful. El Cielo restaurant is obviously amazing (won many awards). The rooftop bar, pool, and gym (very small) offer wonderful views of the city. The neighborhood is very safe and walkable. Highly recommend staying here, and I'll definitely be back.
Be the first to ReplyAn Oasis in Medellín
El Cielo is a super-chic oasis in the Poblado area of Medellín. The staff is quite solicitous, knowledgeable and friendly. While suites are compact and well-appointed, avoid rooms with the awkward structural poles (402/302/etc). For fine dining, El Cielo Restaurante is a MUST. The multi-course experience delights the senses and leaves guests in awe.
Be the first to ReplyVery nice boutique hotel with great staff attention and restaurant
Everything was recommendable about El Cielo Hotel: Location, quietness, food (both in their bistro and in the Michelin starred El Cielo), small pool and sun-deck, small gym. Everyone very helpful and making a 10 day stay feeling like at home.
Be the first to ReplyNot for everyone
This hotel wasn’t for us. The hotel is beautiful when you walk in. We booked a junior suite. Learned when we arrived that the difference between a junior suite and a superior room is that there is a BATHTUB in the room next to the bed. So there isn’t extra space, there’s just an oddly placed bathtub taking up space near the window. The shower also opens up into the bedroom and has a sheer drapery on the walls so you can see anyone who is taking a shower. We left and booked a room elsewhere.
Be the first to ReplyThis hotel is just wow
I can just say wow.
Well, I have to say what I didn’t like.
I am someone who made a lot of money in her life, however I don’t like showing it off, so I don’t dress in Gucci or other stupid expensive stuff.
So when I first wanted to walk into the hotel, the staff seemed like they wouldn’t trust me.
That was not nice.
But apart from that it was an amazing experience.
The suite is beautiful, simple luxury design and a beautiful romantic stay for a couple

The best hotel in Medellin
Wow! The ElCielo Hotel in unbelievable - incredibly beautiful, well-designed, exclusive but comfortable, stunning roof-top pool, and delicious food. I don't think describing the vertical garden - that spans all floors of the hotel - will do it justice...just stunning. The rooms are just perfect - refined but comfortable.
When we first arrived to the hotel, the first employee that we met was the bellman - Jorge. Jorge was just incredible - personable, professional, kind, efficient, and willing to help. If Jorge was there, he always had a smile to wish us a good day or to welcome us back to the beautiful hotel. Jorge made us feel valued and appreciated as guests of the hotel.
We were in awe regarding the level of planning that went into this hotel. I really cannot say enough good things about our stay...other than perfect!
Amazing hotel and great staff!
My friend and I stayed here for 2 nights after staying at another hotel in the area. This hotel was by far much better than our other experience. From the second you walk in you are greeted and meet with hospitality. The hotel has a great ambiance and relaxing vibe. Staff if extremely helpful and friendly. I can’t say better things about Elcielo!!
Big shout out to Alejandro for recommendations and the amazing service and Nelson for helping his with our flight troubles!
Fancy but empty
The decoration of the hotel is very nice.
Breakfast is poor with very little choices. No bread is served. No mini bar in the rooms. No place to smoke even in the garden. When you ask a place to smoke they show you the street- and this is repulsive. I will not come again.
Most beautiful place in Medellin
It was amazing experience to stay there. Hotel is so beautiful I didn’t want to even go out from it. Located in Very safe and nice area close to everything. Staff is super nice and helped us with everything we needed. Hotels are very spacious and beautifully designed. Also try their food ! Loved going down for delicious breakfast every morning. Every single detail in this place is taken care of.
