Manchesters Best.
The best food in Manchester. Perfect selection of seasonal small plates that are full of flavour and variety and surely the worlds best flatbread? Perfect for sharing. Been 5 times now and its always the same standard. Staff are friendly and makes the place seem casual but fancy. Fairly priced for very good food. Our Favourite

A happy and helpful team will serve you some of the best food you will have eaten in a while. We had an absolutely wonderful experience. I was visiting Manchester and can honestly say it would be worth getting on a train to come back and eat here again. I also liked the wine list which isn’t your usual run of the mill list and brings the same level of intrigue and anticipation the menu does. Thank you team Erst!

Fantastic food and staff. Everything about the place is quality. Atmosphere is pleasant - not noisy so you can talk and be heard
Be the first to ReplyGood potential. So wanted it to be awesome....but...
Good vibe, good service, good venue. Food not memorable. Heard lots about this place. Everything but the food on the night we went was good. However the food for me was just a bit meh! Highlights were the oysters, and the steak tartar. Other than that, everything else for my palat was over seasoned. (Too salty). The £14 scallop dish felt like one scallop sliced very thinly spread over a small plate with mandarin segments. Dominant flavours were tart citrus and salt. Another £9 dish was a couple of leaves of chard, and a couple of veggies with sitting in a soups Cesar sauce. This was nice but it wasn't a £9 dish. It felt incomplete and an after. The place has a lot going for it. However on the night the selection was underwhelming for our table and not good enough to entice us back.
Be the first to ReplyThey don’t get the concept of small plates
We love restaurants that do small plates as a concept. However, Erst have not grasped this at all, and most dishes were served from tins or glass jars. The chefs/owners should try Petisco in Sale to understand what a restaurant offering this style of dining is all about. We will not be going back.
Be the first to ReplyGood place
Good place serving good ingredients cooked properly. Friendly service and advice. The restaurant is dark but the lighting on the tables is fine. Wine list is long but oddly there wasn’t much I wanted to drink- that’s my fault not there’s. No decaf options on the hot drinks which is a shame- left to get a coffee around the corner

Amazing food. We went for our anniversary. Best dish was the chocolate sorbet with olive oil and beef fried flatbread. Can't wait to return!
Be the first to ReplyTruly amazing
Truly amazing food. Everything arrives and tastes even better than it sounds on the menu. We chose a number of dishes including the famous flatbread, crudités (amazing), pasta, venison, beetroot (wow), plaice with clams and more …
Be the first to ReplySimple & Perfect
Simple food, beautiful restaurant, friendly staff and a fabulous menu. I've eaten in some amazing place and this is right up there with the best. Flatbread & Beef Fat was beautiful. The Raw Scallop was light and elegant. The Plaice with Clams had every flavour sensation imaginable and the Pannacotta was simply the best dessert I have ever had. See you again soon.
Be the first to ReplyHigh end deliciousness yet unpretentious
First of all, I arrived early in pouring rain and was greeted warmly and taken care of. My daughter and I ordered a variety of plates to share and we enjoyed every single one, especially for its simplicity but also perfectly cooked and visually beautiful--- Plaice with Clams and sherry. I think we licked all our plates clean. The most delicious dish for me was the (nearly literally ) Panna Cotta with sherry soaked prunes-- I think if it comes to a last meal, this is what I will wish for. And our server was just charming, funny, informative and had a real way with words describing dishes and processes. We really feasted and felt so happy at Erst. So glad I had the opportunity to eat there.

Exciting menu, and each choice we made was fabulous. Wait staff were great, really attentive and brought plates out in pairs so got to enjoy each dish slowly rather than be hit with too much food at once. I’m not a pudding person but was wowwwwed. The choc sorbet was divine and blood orange fool just delicious. Lovely interior, really enjoyed myself.

Friendly and efficient reception on entering. Throughout dinner the staff were attentive knowledgeable and friendly.
The food plates are well executed and have interesting flavours which all work to give a really enjoyable food experience.
Good wine list by the bottle and great list of wines by the glass.
Anniversary meal
Ordered most of the menu and every dish was excellent, particularly the sea bass. Wine is good and reasonably priced all with great service. Will definitely be back!

I imagine this place is a little better for Pepole who drink but as a meat eater who needs 2000 calories a day to service this place was impossible for me.
Only meat on the menu is a beef carpaccio and a small pork square with cabbage. Most of the dishes are small and cold tapas dishes - very limited menu mostly vegetarian. Nothing wrong with what I’ve eaten but it was defiantly overpriced for the size and I and husband left very hungry. In fact had to come and pick up a take away.
More meat abs hot food on the menu would be a great benefit to this place.
Great food and service
Excellent food, great service. Very good level of cookery
Would definitely return
Could do with a bit more choice but that wasn’t a negative
Incredible lunch!
Incredible restaurant - we arrived due to a late train arriving into Manchester but were shown to our table no problems.. the food, service just everything was perfect .. a fabulous afternoon interlude for the start of a wonderful weekend!
Thank you 🙏🏻
Amazing food and wonderful service

Be the first to ReplyExcellent food and Service
Visited the restaurant last Saturday with family and was greeted on arrival and shown to our table. We was then asked if we would like to see the wine list and was given recommendations, we opted for a Malbec which was excellent. We were then given the menu and the manager explained the menu to us, we ordered one of everything! We were not disappointed we loved everything the flavours of the dressings and sauces was amazing and the quality of the food was second to none! Had a great evening with excellent food and wine. The restaurant had a really nice vibe to it and the chilled music in the background added to the whole experience. Will definitely be back.
Be the first to ReplyWe wanted to be thrilled but we weren’t 😩
We visited as a result of Jay Rayner’s recent review which impressed us and we perused the menu on line with enthusiastic anticipation. The restaurant itself is trendy with an understated vibe and we secured a fabulous window table, arguably the best in the house. The young servers were excellent and knowledgeable about the food and the drinks. The tomato flatbread wasn’t on the menu so we ordered the onion confit flatbread - unfortunately they didn’t have onions so offered a garlic and lemon topping, it was nice enough but nothing special and we were disappointed, this was a Saturday lunch in December and not a wet February afternoon.
We then ordered the salt cod, the beetroot and the potatoes. The salt cod was unremarkable, the beetroot with Ajo blanco and chilli was delicious and gave us an insight into the potential of the kitchen. The potatoes were a further disappointment as they were over-crunchy and lacked a delicious soft middle. Our guests had the lamb, it was underwhelming and they didn’t finish it. We selected two desserts, the cheese and the Bay panacotta with prunes and PX. The lavosh cracker was first class and the panacotta was quite wonderful although the taste of bay was indiscernible. Drinks by the glass were interesting. It wasn’t as good as we had hoped, we either went on a bad day or Mr Rayner went on a good one.
It’s worth a punt.
Absolutely fine...
Not sure about all of the raving reviews here, and much less where the Michelin guide recommendation came from.
We visited for my birthday this week, and found the service to be sub-par and the food to be average. When we arrived the waiting staff who welcomed us simply pointed to the table we were sitting at (oh yeah it's that one over there...).
We tried everything on the menu and wasn't blown away by any of it. The carpaccio, salt cod and grilled prawns were absolutely covered in oil, making them far too greasy. Also, with the prawns, we weren't given anything to clean our hands, although other tables did receive the customary bowl of water.
Beetroot dish bland, flatbreads burnt.
Lamb dish had to be most disappointing. Presented poorly and quite bland, it was a waste of lamb and quite a stodgy and claggy dish.
All this is overly critical, none of the food tasted bad as such, but none of it was great either.
Overall I probably wouldn't recommend.
