(I agree with professional reviewers). It also happens to serve excellent, traditional Venetian classics. Its contemporary design, friendly staff, and outstanding value for the money add to the enjoyment of this 30 seat eatery. As with all good Italian eateries, the seafood, proteins, and produce are exceptionally fresh and sourced from the region. The produce has the telltale saltiness found in everything grown in Venezia.Tip: Order family style and share. Portions are huge. Straight to the food, the "traditional Venetian starter", their interpretation of cicchetti is exceptionally well done. The scampi in saor, sweet shrimp and onions in mild vinegar. Grilled octopus with cannellini bean foam, so tender, eaten together, the flavor mimics tuna. The baccala mantecato with polenta chips, pungent (ie smells like the canals) but tempered by strong peppery flavor of the rich EVOO. Massive umami finish. All good eats.A plate of razor clams done traditionally and finished with EVOO, perfect. Sweet, plump, tender, and juicy. The restaurant's signature "Veal Shank Cooked at Low Temperature", a sous vide veal shank served boneless in a sauce made from the cooking jus reduction and mounted with pumpkin cream, outstanding. It screams autumn when combined with the earthy cardoncelli mushrooms. Finally, an Italian "Pork Steak" with roasted seasonal veg from the Rialto market. Stunning. A double cut pork chop the size of a huge porterhouse steak in the US, cooked mid rare. Deep porky flavor sans the sweetness usually found in US breeds. Juicy but lacks fat marbling. Eat the absolutely delicious fat cap for richness. Outstanding paired with the roasted potatoes, mushrooms, leeks and yes, bok choy.Excellent wine book (iPad sized). Heavy emphasis on the Veneto and highlighting winemakers doing something special ie preserving the biodynamic methods of winemaking or preserving traditional grape varietals). Use the som. His recommendations are outstanding. As already mentioned, outstanding Italian service. High energy and fun.One month advance reservations required for both lunch and dinner. Fluent English.Seriously one of the best meals in the city bar none.
