Great little raw bar with attentive staff! My wife and I
Great little raw bar with attentive staff! My wife and I were in New England for a couple of weeks and loved the Eventide location in Portland, ME so much we wanted to try the Fenway location on our way back home. This location is walking distance from several parking garages, making it easy to get to, even during rush hour. We came in around 630pm on a Friday and the staff made room for us at the bar near the windows facing the street. The bar doesn't seem big, but it is the perfect size for the oyster platters. Even though the location was very busy, the waitress came to check on us often, without being pushy/encouraging us to eat quickly. We were able to get in and out in about 25 min.We ordered 2 of the brown butter rolls and a dozen oysters. We relied on the staff to provide pick our oyster selection and weren't disappointed with the options. The rolls are smaller than traditional lobster rolls but they are incredible, and worth every penny! My wife and I prefer butter rolls over lobster salad so these are definitely up our alley. Definitely look to check this place out for a nice date the next time your out near Fenway!

Very trendy place with the best lobster roll bun (the bun is always perfectly toasted brioche). The lobster in the roll is good but not the best I've tasted in the Boston. Their selection of oysters is incredible so make sure to get those too!

A very trendy establishment with patrons bubbling out the door. The lobster roll is very small and very expensive so I decided to forgo but it did look like quite an interesting take on it. New England Clam Chowder A light broth despite being creamy - decent clam and lovely potato flavor. Small, though, not nearly worth the $13 price tag. Fish & Chips Huge portions of fish - flaky on the inside. Batter is a little greasy. Seasoning is light, not overpowering. Chips are large. Big portions, reasonable at $16.

My friend and I stopped by here on our way to Salem after we landed in Boston. Parking seems a bit difficult but there may be a parking garage near by that we were not aware of. We chose to split fries and got the GF lobster roll. I kid you not... I haven't stopped thinking about that GF roll. I'm gluten sensitive and hesitate ordering GF breads as sometimes they're horrible. I took a chance and so happy I did. It was a unique texture and very moist, which was great with the buttered lobster. The fries were amazing as well. They weee beautiful seasoned.

Had some of the best oysters in down town Boston here! We loved the horseradish ice and the restaurant had a nice view of Fenway from the window seats!

Run, don't walk, to eventide in Fenway this month (nov 2022). Friends and I went to eventide for the first time because we saw our favorite restaurant's chef (Sarma. You gotta go to Sarma too) was doing a special on their menu so we naturally had to go. The special was the Armenian cheesesteak bao and it was SO GOOD and shockingly filling. Delicious and spicy and creamy. The bao from eventide is also so soft. We loved it. We also tried their lobster roll (delicious brown butter sauce) and chili crisp wings. I loved the wings. They were crispy and spicy. Highly recommend! This might be a slightly more pricey dinner but we really thought it was worth it.

OMG I had to laugh at the size of this minuscule lobster roll. I should have known something was up when I saw the cheap price of $19 because most normal size lobster rolls would be at least around $30+. Anyway, I would say, avoid this place if you are looking for a real lobster roll. They used to have a larger one here but it looks like they did away with that option. I'm guessing due to no one willing to pay the price for a larger roll. Maybe come here to get oysters and the brown butter soft serve. The lobster roll was maybe 4 total bites of food so basically a snack at the most. Go to Neptune if you want a decent lobster roll in Boston.

[woohoo 400th review!]Eventide has been on my list for a long time. I've gone to Boston 3 times in year and never got the chance to go here until my recent visit. The brown butter lobster roll was the best lobster roll I've ever had. The bun was soft and buttery, similar to the joys of eating half baked cookies. The lobster was excellent quality and extremely juicy, flavorful, and test. The steamed bass was very good quality as well. I like how they have Asian fusion flavors on their menu. Their oyster selection was very nice and had some classic Asian dipping sauces. The seafood is of great quality and their beer selection is extensive. To top it all off, the ice cream was rich and paired well with the nuts and caramel drizzle. The food scene in New England is awesome. Highly recommend a visit to Eventide if in the area!
Be the first to ReplyOyster/wine bar with to-die-for fried delights.
My husband and I stopped here for lunch while doing errands in the Fenway. Minimalist decor with window counters/stools and long high tables with barstools, and it has a fairly informal feel. Service was cheerful and efficient. We started with oysters and a bottle of Riesling - the oysters were fresh, delicious, and shucked perfectly (no shell splinters). My husband order the fried fish sandwich, which was delicate, buttery and crispy with the lightest breading - we both agreed it was the best we'd had and we still talk about it. The fries were also delicate and delicious, seasoned with furikake - an unexpected but wonderful twist for fries. I had the seared tuna bowl and it was fresh and delicious as well. Will definitely be back!

Just purchased 2 Clam chowder take out chowder little amount of clams also everything else diced up and no flavor so disappointed.
Be the first to ReplyFood was very good, but overpriced.
Portion sides were small but you're getting a delicious dish. The brown butter lobster roll was probably three bites but one of the best lobster rolls I've had.Would have loved to see these options as more of a tasting menu opportunity rather than a meal.Would be great for a light dinner (or lunch)

Yep, exactly how I remember it from a few years ago before Covid started. This place has not lost any of its charm or quality. The brown butter lobster roll is still just as good, and I love that they've added a few things to the menu such as hotdogs and other bistro type items to keep everybody happy. Prices are high, but you get what you pay for. There is also outdoor seating, with attentive service. Restrooms are clean, the kitchen is open concept, and despite the high prices this is not a pretentious setting to enjoy a delicious lobster roll.I love the drink menu as well, as it has been thoughtfully curated. A great place to grab a meal if you're in Boston, especially if you were in the Fenway area.I'm trying to convince my company to consider catering from here. It's probably gonna be pricey...

Having been (and loved) our meal at Eventide in Portland, it was a no-brainer to order a meal from the Boston version. While we had some sides and other items, I think the focus should be on their lobster roll as it was the main entree of my meal.It was around $30 and I wouldn't be exaggerating when I say it was 3 bites worth of food. It was well dressed, the bun was crisp on the outside and soft in the middle, but $10 per bite is somewhat egregious as it didn't even come with fries.

The oysters, soft serve, and lobster roll are the standouts, though given how far out of the way Fenway is for me (relatively speaking), not sure how often I'd come back. Also, try to look up game days to plan coming here in advance. No matter how you're coming into Boston (I definitely recommend bus or on foot, do NOT bring a car unless you want to be stuck in gridlock traffic), you'll have to wade through the crowds. Once you get past Jersey Street, it clears up a lot. Oysters: a must-get. I still don't have a good gauge for whether something is reasonable or I'm getting ripped off, but let's say each oyster is about $2.75-$3.50 each. Eventide gives you a full dozen for $31, which seems like a good deal to me. We got two of the six kinds featured that day - I liked the fatter, plumper ones. Lots of oyster juice and you get two sides to go with it (the kimchi ice seemed interesting but we stuck with just the red onion and cocktail sauce), though quite a few still had flecks of shell. Tuna tartare: a skip for me. We had originally ordered the tuna crudo and we got the tartare by mistake (though the waitress was super nice to comp our dessert). While the tuna was diced finely and mixed with some sort of citrus, it was overwhelmed by too-heavy of a dollop of wasabi sauce. It shot up my nostrils each time. Green salad: fine if you want some greens. I did like the nori vinaigrette dressing they used but the pickled carrots on top plus the dressing made it too sour. Lobster roll: definitely get! The bun for me was the best part: so soft and chewy, it reminded me of Japanese milk bread. I loved the cold lobster roll. Not large at all, I could have consumed one or two more. Brown sugar soft serve: again, definitely get! I'm usually not into soft serve but I couldn't stop reaching over another spoonful. Loved the brown sugar nuts they sprinkle on top. The ambiance is pretty sparse - seemed like an industrial warehouse devoted to oysters. Food came out extremely quickly. Would have loved some full-backed seats instead of barstools.
Be the first to ReplyThe sandwiches are teeeeeeny tiny.
Our party got brown butter lobster roll & hot chicken rolls and they were 2.5-3 bite sandwiches. When they came we were like, uhhh what?! Don't get me wrong they are tasty, but order 2-3. And then triple your dinner budget. Service was also very underwhelming. But hey, they have High Life on Draft!
Be the first to ReplySo upon arrival, I was severely unimpressed.
Lots of open tables and we were out on a wait list. Even though they said they didn't take reservations, multiple people were sat before us even though we'd been waiting longer. We finally moved our wait position to right in front of the hostess stand and she finally seated us. We both got the fish and chips and it was very tasty. I loved the aioli although the tartness from tarter sauce would have been good, too. I may come again, I may not, not really sure. But either way, I enjoyed my meal.

Fenway park is down the street and was closed for a private event so my sister's first time in Boston had to get her some delicious seafood. Came here for a snack (shared all the food) and I could have eaten everything myself it was all so good. The tartare was at a great temperature especially on a hot day with the amazing fresh, crispy chips. The oysters were nice and cold with amazing sauces, and the brown butter lobster roll was transcending. Couldn't of asked for better around the location! A must go!!

I have walked by several times and finally came in when I was craving a lobster roll. It was empty on a Friday afternoon except one table. I was immediately helped by a staff member who took my order for take out, and rang me up. It was super fast turn around and the lobster roll even came before my water. Now my first impressions were "why does it look like that" and "why is it so small? " it was a warm lobster roll and the bun was nicely doughy. Although it didn't look like a traditional lobster roll, it was very tasty. My only complaint was I got 2 shell bits in my lobster roll. Overall I'll definitely be back to try more things on the menu.
Be the first to ReplyTried the cold lobster rolls tonight for the first time.
Sooo good! Lovely dill and lots of lobster meat on browned bun. Bun might look small but honestly I think as much meat as on a larger roll, just less bread. Give it a try! Warning: may not be enough food for a meal (it was for us with the delicious fries!)

Be the first to ReplyMy wife and I went here after a disappointing Sox loss.
We were a bit leery about ordering the lobster roll since the table next to us got one and it looked like it was drenched in a tomato sauce. Our concerns were totally unfounded. This was one of the best lobster rolls we have eaten. Yes, it is small and our server informed us of that. We had a side of Noori potato chips and they were completely addictive! We finished off with their brown butter ice cream for dessert. It was delicious. They added a 15% "Server Administrative" charge to the tab. I guess this is in lieu of a tip. We normally tip 20% so there was no way to do that. We'll be back!
Be the first to ReplyEventide loses a star from us on our second visit.
We arrived at about 5:15 to find out they were closing early at 6. Most of the food seemed to have lost its sparkle. Maybe they can't hire enough staff, which is a shame. At any rate, when we tried to order a last few oysters at about 5:45, the waiter told us 'we closed the bar. If you want more oysters, there's another place down the street.' Weird feeling to get hurried out of the place at 5:55.
Be the first to ReplyTheir lobster roll is unique and set apart from others
Their lobster roll is unique and set apart from others because of their bun. You really feel like you're biting into a Chinese pork bun except with lobster! It's good but I have to say with the price increases, not sure if it's so worth it anymore. It's $21 for a TINY lobster roll that can be finished off in 2 and a half bites. Also I've always liked their fried oyster roll more because of the explosive flavors and the crunchy texture, but for some reason it tasted different from the one I had from Eventide Portland (Maine). And their clam chowder was watery..seems to be a Boston thing though.

!AGGRESSIVE WHITE MAN ALLERT!! I've been here a few times whenever I'm in the area. Love the food and usually good vibes. Went in today. The man/child?? who was cutting the fish out in the open was so EXTREMELY rude and aggressive toward me and his co workers it made me so uncomfortable and honestly unwell? I did not order, I went to the bathroom and left. It's 2022. White Male aggression is not cool OR OKAY. It's a business establishment. If you're too angry to do your job then Don't go to work. Simple. Someone please fix this. I will not be returning if I see him working. #NoHospitality
