I love this restaurant.
I remember the first time I came back to the city as an adult and asked around for a good oyster spot. I remember being eager to try Acme's because of their famous oysters. And everyone I mentioned this to said "no! Go to Felix's" and I'm never disappointed. I've tried all the oysters on the menu. And by far the best way to enjoy them is raw with lemon juice and Creole seasoning paired with your favorite whine or mock tail! Their bbq shrimp and hamburger were also good. And weirdly enough their burger was one of the best I ever had! I do think the service could improve at the French Quarter location so if you're looking for a better customer service experience and ambiance , the Lakeshore Dr location is so much better.

Oysters were fantastic. Only complaint is that the alligator po boy, the gator were so small that it only consisted of breading instead of tasting real alligator.

Outstanding local seafood, we wandered onto bourbon street, starving with a group of four and they sat us in five minutes. Our server Justin got us drinks and apps fast as hell, his suggestion of the char grilled oysters was the highlight of our entire trip in New Orleans so far. In a town where your money can disappear fast without caution, we all felt like the food and the service were beyond top notch. Was recommended by a friend and I will recommend. Make sure to request Justin!
Be the first to ReplyGood food.
Especially the charred oyster plate. But quite rich and Buttery. Also hand one fried oyster platter and one fried shrimp platter. Came with coleslaw and fries. Drank water. Yes, $100. Only like 10 shrimp and 10 fried oysters. 12 charred oysters. But it was tasty... Very busy. In line for a table for 2 about 45 minutes. Service was decent.

Michelle and Donny are amazing. They made sure that you get what you need and provided great service. Would highly recommend and will definitely come back again when in New Orleans.

This was our first stop when we arrived to NO! The most exciting thing is we were seated at a table in FULL VIEW of the Arkansas B ball game..... and the Hogs won! March madness is crazy fun when your team wins while watching at Felix Oyster Bar! We ordered appetizers for our table since we were not too hungry. For the price we paid the portion size was awful.... And I was plum tired after traveling and forgot to take pics. The shrimp remoulade had 5 shrimp and was $15! Everything was good but the portion size did not reflect the price paid or the two dollar sign on Yelp, otherwise still better than acme! ;-)

We tried Felix Oyster Bar for our first time in New Orleans it was a long wait outside on both sides of the entrance it was a table of 5 they sat us at a table/counter bar we ordered char grilled oysters which were good and tried a half crawfish Po boy the crawfish tails was not fresh on the sandwhich and it came with a cup of gumbo or soup. I tried the gumbo it was very flavorful but the rice was hard. The waitress was great had 2 young ladies helping us they both took care of us great.

Late post! Enjoyed the grilled oysters at Felix's without a long line wait. Service was good. Can't review any other food items as we only went to try the oysters.

Had a craving for seafood and dropped in late on a weeknight. It was really busy but the service and the food was great! Walked away full and happy. Will visit there again.
Be the first to ReplyGood service and the oysters were so so fresh.
We loved the BBQ shrimp as well. It's a bit loud inside but hey, it's Bourbon Street everything is loud.

Every time we walked by this place after 5 pm, there was always a line outside the door to get into this place. This place was literally a 5 minute walk from our hotel, so we walked by Felix's quite often. On the last day there, we happened to be walking by not too long after opening time and decided to check it out.The interior is a bit underwhelming and very plain. They did have a few TVs about with ESPN on them. That definitely gets bonus points with me. We ordered the Grilled Oysters as an appetizer. I had the Jambalaya and my friend had the Hot Roast beef Po Boy. I had never had grilled oysters before, but I really enjoyed these! :) I will have to try this again sometime to compare! My jambalaya wasn't bad, but was just okay. I love jambalaya and had it a few times on this trip and this was the least impressive plate that I had. I really wanted to lke it a lot more than I did. My friend said he enjoyed his Po Boy, but it didn't necessarily blow him away. It did come with plenty of fries. Service was okay. No one was rude to me, but I felt like a lot of people were going through the motions and it showed. Maybe I set my expectations too high, but I wasn't that impressed with Felix's. It was alright, but with so many great options in the area, it's hard to think about coming back here. 3 stars.OK.

Since moving from NOLA, there's several things I miss when it comes to food. When I landed, I was craving oysters and fried shrimp. I remembered really liking the shrimp platter at Felix's so I headed over as soon as I settled in the hotel. It was a Sunday and when I walked up around 3:45 PM, there was a line outside. After about 20 mins, I was sat at the bar, where the bartender Kristi was lovely and helpful. By the time I went to order I was craving boiled shrimp but they didn't have what I wanted and they recommended the BBQ shrimp. So I ordered 6 charbroiled oysters and the BBQ Shrimp. The oysters was delicious. I knew the shrimp would be a bit messy but they were really just hard to peel. Although, they were a good size and tasty. Definitely recommend the oysters, fried shrimp and if you're up for it, the BBQ shrimp.

One of my most memorable dining experiences when I washed down 36 fresh shucked oysters with a liter of local brew! Yummy yummy Service was excellent along with the happy boisterous ambiance!
Be the first to ReplyEverything we had here was so good.
However, the way that the restaurant is set up creates a very loud atmosphere. The wait staff try to give us food that we never ordered and we had to ask for our other dishes. So the service is OK.
Be the first to ReplyAcme is closed on Tuesdays.
So we stood in line for Felix. Line went quick. I think it was more staff availability than actually being busy. As we were leaving a few more waiters came in. I was a little jealous. Although our waitress was okay, there were two others that smiled and were chatty with their tables. Ours was not so much. I was nervous to ask for more condiments. The food came quickly. We ordered several appetizers.Alligator. It was about the same as several other places around town. Less seasoning, batter not so salty as the meat is already salty and gamey.Calamari. I wouldn't order this again. The pieces were tiny. More batter than squid. But I did see fried shrimp at the next table. They were giant and they looked delicious. Golden & crispy. We had the fish. Same batter as the alligator and squid. Not anything fantastic, but it was good. The fries were perfect though! Fries are everything! Now worth having is the Red Beans and Rice. 8 out of 10 . The jambalaya was okay. I agree with the other reviewers, what this place definitely has going for it is their OYSTERS. I'd order those a few times over. They have a great bar dating back to their beginning. Black and white pictures adorn the walls. I don't think I'd come back. Only because there are so many places to try out. But if you're in line to dine, I think you'll find something you'll enjoy. Have the oysters!
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best place by far on this trip.
The fish tacos and the oysters were absolutely delicious. And prices were reasonable. Get there early. Gets crowded later. But also good for kids and it's loud inside. All the staff was awesome. We will definitely come back!!!
Be the first to ReplyI had read that Felix's was supposed to have the best happy
I had read that Felix's was supposed to have the best happy hour in New Orleans. Not their bourbon street location, I guess. We were told they don't do happy hour. We ordered a round of drinks. Which were fine, but overpriced. The bartender offered a few suggestions about places around with live music and was very nice and helpful. Mostly, it felt like a tourist place. We moved on after we finished our cocktails.
Be the first to Reply70+ year old business! Oysters were just ok.
But absolutely loved watching the shucker at the counter serenade to a little girl at the counter was unexpected and so sweet to watch. Already had dinner and walked around before craving for oysters. Acme Oyster House had run out of oysters (at 8:30pm!) so came here. Had a brief wait before getting seated. Be the first to Replytheir chargrilled oysters have ruined me.
they're SO good. had to get a second round. also had chargrilled oysters from a couple of other spots, but they are hands-down the best from here.
Be the first to ReplyHad oysters cooked 3 different ways plus some cole slaw.
Staff was very attentive and helpful. Prices are as expected. Really enjoyed the oysters. Wish they had the Bienville and Rockefeller available so we could have had oysters 5 ways.

My second time dining at Felix's (three years apart) was great, again !Char grilled oysters are just the best here. Fresh and delicious, the two gentlemen who were shucking never stopped the entire time we weredining. I had the redfish which was excellent. My dining partner had thebbq shrimp. Quite messy to eat, the kitchen should have peeled the shrimp, they were very tasty tho. I'll be certain to return on my next trip to NOLA.

Food was fine but I have never seen such a lazy, non-responsive, couldn't-care-less waitstaff. Absolutely no interest in anything customer-related. Definitely not worth it.

We hopped in the long line to wait to eat which was expected. I watched the game through the window which made it a little easier. We were finally seated at a table I asked for because it had been open the entire time we were waiting in line . We started with gumbo and the sampler trio of red beans, crawfish Étouffée and jambalaya. All was good however jambalaya was a little dry. Next the raw and chargrilled oysters made an appearance at the table along with crawfish tails. Little surprised that the tails were so small since it's crawfish season however we ate them and finish off some of the biggest oysters I had ever seen. Good flavor on both oysters.
Be the first to ReplyBest night in New Orleans by far.
We sat at the bar and our shucker was hilarious. We ordered a bunch of oysters, fresh and char-grilled. We ended up getting a few extras for free from the staff, laughed the whole time, and tipped well. The wait is worth it!
