An ideal post round restaurant with plenty of history and memorabilia to marvel at
An enjoyable post round meal. When checking in for the round of golf, pre-booking was made for an estimated time in from the course. As it is a clubhouse, there was immaculate changing facilities, which was needed after some rain showers. The memorabilia in the entrance from hosting the Irish Women’s Open was really cool. As was the history of the club displayed amongst the walls of the restaurant. The outside gardens are really lovely for a stroll around post meal, a lot of little nuggets of information about the history displayed around the pathways. An outside garden seating area with a fire pizza oven would be nice to use with a group or post round. Plenty of tv screens outside to enjoy if a sporting event is on. This is a place that I will be returning to with friends and family.

Food not very good. Some dishes no taste , the kids Mac and cheese ( tasted of nothing) burger ok and club sandwich dry and tasteless. Value ok but for the castle I expected lot more when it came to taste . Worse food for a long time . Kids not welcome, other patrons extremely stuck up even though a club house . Definitely a miss
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced and lacking atmosphere
Overpriced and ruined atmosphere by renovation and menu change! This used to be a wonderful place to sit out and have some lunch and a glass of wine. They have now changed the menu increased the prices and removed the lunch option. The whole place is now much more formal. There is now less people going there and there is no atmosphere. Such a shame.

Overpriced for what you get. Seafood chowder had mostly potato and very little fish. Main course was good but no atmosphere in the place and definately not worth €46 for a bottle of wine.

Newly renovated since I’d been there last & improvements are wonderful. Food is always good here & not overly expensive. Would highly recommend a visit.
Be the first to ReplyVery Disappointed
Has lunch with a friend today. Both of us very disappointed. I had seafood chowder, whilst there was enough fish in it, it was 'watery' & totally tasteless . A glass ( very small) of house wine €11 Totally over priced Neither of us will be going back

Had dinner on Sat. evening. Limited menu but food good. Very expensive though and wine way over priced...€9.50 for a glass of wine.

We have visited the Fig Tree twice in the last few weeks, once for lunch and once for dinner. On both occasions we were very very happy with the experience. A very pleasant setting, very helpful staff, a good menu with plenty of vegetarian options and beautiful food. Slightly expensive but very difficult to get a restaurant open, midweek.

Casual dining in a relaxed setting. Great food delivered with equally great service. Had a lovely evening here and would definitely recommend it.

We were 3 couples looking for a good time. We had such a nice night at The Fig Tree! We ate outside and the atmosphere as well as the food was great. i would highly recommend you taking the time to get to this restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food & service
Brought my nieces here for a treat last week and they had a lovely time. The staff couldn’t have been nicer to them and were very attentive and friendly. The food was delicious and served in a timely matter. There was plenty choice on the kids menu including a range of starters & deserts. We had a great table by the front windows. The outdoor seating area is stunning looking over the walled garden to the rear. Will definitely be back on a fine day to sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere.

We was in three. We had burger was good, the sup leek and potato no salt, chowder few fish but completely insipid, sourdough with pork pulled completely dry no test and the portion was for starter and salad no dressing and also suppose with chips but never arrived. I told to the waiter but I think never report to the chef or manager and nobody give interest to us

We had a meal in the Fig Tree Restaurant when staying in Dromoland Castle. This is a golf club restaurant and although not fine dining we enjoyed our meal. It is good to have the choice of fine dining in the hotel or a more relaxed meal in the clubhouse. A short walk from the hotel.
Be the first to ReplyA bad reflection on Dromoland Castle
I agree with another reviewer who said that this restaurant is a poor alternative to the Earl of Thomond at the Castle. Most hotels would offer something in between but this seems like a huge demotion. Came here for dinner on my honeymoon while staying at the castle and almost felt embarrassed that I had worn a dress. We attended at 8 pm and people were sitting in raincoats, shorts and sports shoes. The food is akin to pub grub and the service is poor. Golfers were ordering from the bar and walking around with no masks on. We were in the main room next to an exit door that was never closed for longer than 2 minutes. The young staff members, possibly students, were all lovely and trying their best but we felt let down by management. It wasn't cheap either, the meal came to about €150 with no alcohol. It is shame that this is the second best option in a very good hotel.

We had a gorgeous meal Sunday the 15th of August 2021 at the Fig Tree Restaurant. The staff were so friendly and attentive. The food was amazing, we had lemon Sole and Duck and the kids had fish and burgers. The quality of the food was very good and I would highly recommend dining here. It is also a beautiful setting with a stunning garden. We will definitely return.

Extremely disappointing - run by the Golf members. Breaching basic Covid-19 safety practises. On our last night unfortunately we decided to eat in the Fig Tree restaurant. Golf members were the rudest and most disrespectful people I have ever encountered. Sadly these people think they are exempt from Covid-19 and they advised us that they did not need to wear a mask because they were members!! Extremely ignorant and rude people!!Senior Management allowed these people to conduct themselves in this manner!! The Management have signs up regarding the mandatory wearing of masks however that does not apply to the golf members!! They were rude to the staff and they could not be managed by junior staff!! The conduct that night ruined our stay. The Golf Director, Men’s Captain and Ladies Captain were all in attendance and the Ladies Captain was asked to put a mask on at one point and she was not happy!! Our complaint was not taken seriously by the General Manager. When I asked to meet the General Manager he sent a Junior Manager to meet me!! They could not print off their own Covid-19 safety charter!! Dromoland claims that it is following Faílte Ireland’s Safety charter and our experience demonstrated that the signs are there for people who respect other people’s health !! The General Manager, Golf Director, Men’s Captain and Ladies Captain of Dromoland Castle are taking a very casual, lax and dangerous approach to a virus that has killed a huge number of people around the world. If the virus concerns you….. do not stay here. There are a large number of good hotels in the area who will have more respect for you, your health and Covid-19.
