Amazing experience
We ate here for the first time tonight and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We chose the โfeed meโ menu. Oysters,Sashimiโฆ.beautiful, not something I would have chosen from the menu but glad I tried and would order in future. Prawn toastโฆโฆwow!!!! I have never had prawn toast like this in my life, next level!!!! Abalone and beef brisketโฆ..Absolutely Devine!!! Murray Cod Fillet, Fries, salad was fabulous. Friendly service , very friendly, informative waitress. Loved the experience from start to finish. Would highly recommend and will most definitely return.
Be the first to ReplyOver priced food ! quality beliw average
I would have to say if it wasnโt for the lovely young lady serving us we would have walked out ! Food was so overpriced for the quality of the food โฆ.. below average ! we had so many bones in our dishes that we would have been better buying food from a fish and chip shop ! we could only eat a few mouthfulls as there were so many tiny bones and big ones in our flathead korean style dish .. The sashimi was average as well and have had better sashimi at other restaurants that charge a lot lessโฆ. Terrible food and very overpriced โฆ.
Be the first to ReplyExpensive to the max!
Look, if you want to pay $54 for just a fillet of fish with some sauce, then this is the place for you! The cod - does it taste awesome? Yes it does. Is it overpriced? Absobloodylutely! It literally it just a cod fillet, probably around 300g, fried with some sauce. Not really seeing any genuine Michelin star chef work here. Add to that our 2 small plates, bottle of wine, you're up for $200 already. Impress the girlfriend - it did. I suppose that's something.
Be the first to ReplyFish restaurant runs out of fish
The only problem that we had was with the availability of items on the menu. Very disappointing that in a fish restaurant the fish and chips had โrun outโ as had the Murray Cod. This is the height of the Adelaide Festival and we just expected better.
Be the first to ReplyFaultless dinner
Food was faultless, service was excellent. Donโt know when Iโve ever eaten better seafood & salad. Only fault might of been that the food took a little too long to come out but thatโs all
Be the first to ReplySo sad
the food was decent but the service was very condescending we asked for all our items to be served together when we asked about it the waitress said I clarified this was your second course and then we clarified we wanted it all together. Put service started with a dirty plate and went downhill from there. Never did get second course decided to leave after 30 minutes asked for bill and they said our food would be ready in 30 seconds. Total miscommunication so disappointed ๐ข.
Be the first to ReplyFresh fish, but dining experience a complete flop
Overall seafood was good and freshest you'll find, but too many cons which took away from the experience, very disappointed, and won't return, heres why: Brought to a table without a white tablecloth, there were others that did indeed have white tablecloths (so random!) Table was too small for 2 people we had to juggle dishes/glasses all night to fit. Leather seating along the wall was badly stained and needed a really good clean. Our waiter appeared occasionally we were left on our own a lot of the time. Other wait staff made it look like they were busy, but really weren't doing much, there were hardly any people in restaurant. We opted for tap water as restaurants try to upsell and charge for still/sparkling water and received it. A bit later we were served still water from a bottle which was left on the table. We mentioned to the waiter this had happened (fearing the charge!) He said the other waitress got the wrong table with the still water, so then proceeded to take away the still water bottle and topped up our water glasses (with the bottle water still in there) with the tap water. What the? Had the Hunky Dory (non alchoholic cocktail) could not taste apple or strawberry and was really diluted and quite sour. Had to ask for lemonade to add some taste. Careful when using lift to go to basement for the toilet. There are no decent instructions, and you could easily believe you are stuck in it. There is no inside handle so when you reach another floor it was hard to work out how to exit. For appetisers we chose: Coffin Bay oysters which were beautiful, fresh, and delicious. Also tried the 10g serve of caviar, which was interesting and different. This was presented with 4 paper thin bellinis that were the size of a 5 cent piece - totally inadequate and not generous enough for such a special caviar treat. Sashimi tuna loin, tender but tasteless. The wasabi served with it was unexpectedly not hot at all, but the pickled ginger was way too hot, which spoiled it! Oddly enough after our appetisers our waiter came aong with a trolley offering caviar, and suggesting having it with champagne or vodka, for the going price, of course. Complete upsell as we already just had an expensive serving of caviar appetiser prior to this so it was so weird he was offering it again as a package with alcohol! Did he not remember we just had some? and we had also told him previously we don't drink alcohol! Mains we chose: 'Fish & Chips' battered fish of the day & shoestring fries, at no time were we told what type of fish it was, would have been nice to know, it was lovely, but waiter wasn't around much so we didn't bother asking. The fries with it were served stone cold. Confit mushroom side was not a great choice, mushrooms absorb so much of the oil, they were squishy and just dripping with it which really spoiled the eating experience. Why offer them cooked this way?! Rainbow trout in crumb with speck and apple: the crumb, which was way too thick for the delicate trout within, was burnt on one side. They tried to hide this by serving the burnt side down on the plate leaving the better looking side on show. This was immediately shown to the waiter and he took it away to be rectified. It came back, same dish but they had tried to scrape off the burnt crumb part, which was ridiculous as the entire crumbing had a burnt taste through it. How any decent cook or chef would not understand this, then try and re-serve it was beyond our comprehension, particularly in such a 'high end' restaurant, where you are paying more than top $. Gave up and just told the waiter we'd eat the rainbow trout portion inside and not eat the thick inedible crumb, as the fish itself was nice and tender. It would have been such a waste to throw it away. At least they had the good grace to remove the charge for this meal from our bill without fuss. It was supposed to be a celebration dinner, but just didn't feel the atomsphere was special at all, the food was ill prepared and the service delivery was frankly, mundane.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful seafood lunch
Fresh seafood done beautifully with an excellent wine list.we shared fresh oysters, kingfish sashimi, scallop sashimi and then finished with barbecue crayfish and tarragon butter, fries and green leaf salad. This was all paired with a Adelaide hills Chardonnay. We agreed this was one of the best lunches we have had.
Be the first to ReplyDont miss this - its an expereince
This is a fantastic restaurant in an incredible building. The decor is lovely - with no overly loud music. The service was outstanding. The food was interesting, tasty and well-presentedโa good range of wine by the glass. My coffee was the best I had had all week in Adelaide.

Amazing food, sourced locally. Service and attention to detail was impeccable. A truly memorable dining experience from the time we walked in.
Be the first to ReplySeafood excellence, and more besides
This is our second or third time here, and I'm absolutely positive I have reviewed it before, but Tripadvisor says no. So here goes. We come from SA coastal country so the seafood has to be good, and this restaurant does it. We tried all sorts, from brisket for the two non fishos (melt in your mouth stuff), whitebait, grilled king prawns, mussels, kingfish wings and more. Couldn't fault anything. Service has been hit and miss but was pretty good this time. It ain't the cheapest place in town but you get what you pay for. It's almost worth it to check out the restrooms in the basement of the old bank. Speccy stuff. Anyway, give it a go. Kingfish wings aren't high on people's list but it's amazing how much meat you can get off them, and the scallops were spot on.
Be the first to ReplyBasic menu and not inexpensive
An absolutely beautiful venue, very good service, however, I was disappointed in the menu, for example, instead of having three or four different fish dishes as a main such as groper, or a whole fish, or dew fish or coral trout all they had was Whiting and Murray, cod? Disappointing . I didnโt think the menu was particularly interesting or varied. Again quite disappointing. Iโm not sure if Iโll bother to go again.

Be the first to ReplyMaรฎtre D not up to it
When the MD says itโs a 20 min wait (despite the restaurant being half full), thatโs fine, but then when itโs an hour without an update or any kind of apology, and he avoids you and you have to demand to look him in the eye on it, thatโs just crap. Not sure why any of us are putting up with this from high end restaurants. Yes short staffed but just set expectations. Would rather patronise the hard working and honest mid to low level restaurants. You guys are headed for a work of pain in the recession thatโs breaking. Madame Hanoi - served in the time it took to write this review!!
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing Wedding Anniversary Night
We had been looking forward to this evening, as we'd read & heard very good reviews. We had to wait for our table which wasn't ready because the previous people hadn't finished, another table was found about 15 minutes later. The building is interesting & the atmosphere is great. Our waiter was pleasant as were other staff. We ordered Kilpatrick Oysters from the Specials Menu & Whitebait for Starters - the Whitebait came first & was enjoyable but the Kilpatrick Oysters were terrible - they had a baked seasoned breadcrumb covering, under this there was some tomato/Worcestershire sauce, there was no trace of any bacon but worst of all the oysters were scarcely discernable - so tiny were the bits of oyster in each shell we strongly believe we only got 1/2 an oyster in each shell. We complained about them to our waiter, describing them as above, asking him to pass on our complaint, but we never received an apology from the chef or kitchen. We both ordered the Silver Whiting Fillets for our main courses served with a salsa, this consisted largely of capsicums to which I am allergic, mine was replaced by an Asian broth variation, however the accompaniments overshadowed the delicate fish - it wasn't what we would describe as a wonderful meal, we both departed the restaurant with a feeling of let-down.
Be the first to ReplyFirst class on all fronts, presenting me a major challenge for my next Adelaide trip - Fishbank or Jasmine?
Ceviche was first class as was the main, and the Chardonnay. Art Deco former bank building so great space, matched by great service (and music of perhaps too early to appeal to millennials!).

The setting of the restaurant, in an old bank, is lovely. Warm atmosphere, open kitchen (love seeing how the kitchen staff interact), and spacious seating. The meals are very generous. Large entrees and well portioned mains. The dishes were well composed, very good flavours and overall a wonderful place to dine and enjoy outstanding fish. The whiting (fish) entree was very large, yet my least favourite dish (just a touch too little crunch on the fish), the outstanding dish was for me the king fish wings and the pipes. P.S. If you can, order the chocolate burned cararamel tart. :-)
Be the first to ReplyWell worth a visit for a great seafood meal!
This is an amazing restaurant, with great service and exceptional food. Be prepared for your tastebuds to thank you as you consume fresh sourced seafood. The atmosphere is perfect for a dinner where you want to chat with company while enjoying a delicious meal. Highly recommended.

I have been several times and will continue to return whenever I visit Adelaide. Each time, we have received consistently excellent service and the food has been exemplary. The decor is lovely and I enjoy the music they play. It's fancy without making you feel like the Clampetts. It may be seasonal but I enjoyed the menu when I was there last year more than this year, nonetheless what we chose was delicious. Shout out to Didity and Laura who looked after us. Look forward to next time.

Amazing food and service! Lived up to all the recommendations we were given. Highly recommend the flathead ceviche, the rainbow trout and the whipped sesame for desert
Be the first to ReplySave the worst till last
The food and service was only OK. But when I went to pay the bill there was a surcharge for using the debit card even though the bank involved has no charges to the business for using this card. During Covid we were encouraged to use these cards by the government instead of cash, this is an unwarranted extra charge that leaves a poor taste in your mouth.

We had such a great experience the first time, we were back two nights later. Upon entry, the staff service was impeccable. Cannot remember receiving better and more timely service anywhere in the world. Henry and Sami in particular where attentive, polite, friendly and extremely knowledgeable and Lizzie the second visit. The seafood menu was innovative and delicious. We ordered the mudcrab and admittedly, I would recommend this for the experienced seafood eaters who could perhaps attack it with a little more finesse but the flavour is worth the effort. The second night we indulged in the fresh oysters, grilled Robarra with butter and roasted broccoli - simple but executed to perfection. The selection of entrees and small plates similarly exquisite. The venue had a lovely ambiance and I personally loved the background music playlist. Make sure you check out the "facilities" too whilst you're there. Cannot wait to go back!

Be the first to ReplyBest seafood experience in Adelaide
Beautiful building, bustling atmosphere but not too noisy for dinner conversation.
We ordered the chef's trio of raw fish, scallops, octopus, pipis & lobster risotto special to share & it was all amazing! Also the deserts are worth a look, what's described on the menu as an ice cream sandwich was much more than it sounded! Will definitively be going back! There was not a single dish that we wouldn't order again or recommend to a friend - all spectacular!
