We were greeted by the manageress who seemed less than enthused to see us. Our starters were nice but nothing special. Our mains were disappointing to say the least. I had the Jewels of the Sea (chargrilled). The fish was tasty and cooked well but only had a small garnish as a side salad and the chips looked like oven fries, pale and somewhat soggy. My boyfriend opted for Panko crumbed fish for his mains. It looked like a children's meal and had the same lacklustre accompaniments. I asked for a doggy bag for my main as I just did not feel like finishing it at that time (it was quite bland) and the manageress was less than impressed. She made the boxing feel very awkward. The young waitress who was also serving our table was nice but overall we left less than impressed. Despite living nearby we won't be back.

I was recommended this place and was really expecting the best of the best in Adelaide. Unfortunately the best I got was the Oysters Natural! The crab pasta I had was so very oily.. just too much olive oil! Wine prices too high Overall, dissapointed.

I recently returned to this establishment, in their new location, however I must say how very disappointed I was, on several levels. Firstly, the new location needs to have its wheelchair access fixed, with only a very steep ramp to use - very difficult by oneself! Secondly, the food was of a much poorer quality than on my first visit and much less enjoyable. Thirdly, the service has deteriorated greatly and was, other than one waiter, quite disorganised and unfriendly. Lastly, once the restaurant filled with patrons it became very noisy and difficult to hold a conversation with my friends - it was good to get out of there into the relative peace and quiet of the street!I will probably not return, as I've definitely experienced better.

A great selection too. Good wine list and prices for both food and drink reasonable. Way too many people dinning within the space provided and also understaffed. The airconditioning made it unpleasant for thoses without a jumper or coat. I would return!

The great thing about this restaurant is the quality of the food and the reasonableness of the cost of that food. It is a cosy restaurant - even if the overuse of white and stainless steel give it a bit of cafeteria feel. The menu is a good, solid seafood menu but there is a noticeable lack of variety of fish - however that's not unusual for southern states. Also vegetarians beware - there is only one option and its a vegetable stack. The fish that they do have is mostly local and fresh. And they know how to cook and serve it well. While the chef/cooking staff are obviously very good, the wait staff are a bit hit and miss. Just don't expect great service and you should be ok. The prices are very reasonable with a two fillets averaging about $30 and the Morton Bay Bugs at $39.

As your filleted fish lays on ice at the front counter bar, you are given the opportunity to select from a simple range of SA fresh seafood and your choice of dressing. There are some imported barra's and other fish on the menu but I'd stick with what you know is spectacular in your own back yard. What was nice though is that you could go from a simple "fish and chips" up to a grilled atlantic salmon or seafood platter for 2 with oysters etc. We dined on prawns, salt and pepper squid, mussels and kingfish. The prawns were a bit tough but had a nice charcoal grilled flavour and the salt and pepper squid came in huge slices that were very well seasoned and succulent. The highlight of the menu was the tomato broth mussels. A huge pot came out and we proceeded to suck all the juices and meat from each well cooked shell. All meals were perfect for sharing and it was all complemented well by a simple SA wine list. The service was nice, but a little busy at the time and overall we were impressed with the cost of our meal for the quality of the dishes - good seafood ain't cheap people! On a side note, I don't quite understand why all seafood restaurants look the same - white tiles, white tables, white kitchen/bar? As Neale Whittaker from The Block would put it - "it feels 90s and dated." I look forward to the day when someone in Adelaide does it a little differently.

Chianti's further up Hutt Street has for many years been the lunch spot of choice for many in the property industry. It was accordingly a surprise today to find that some well known identities have now discovered Louca's. Very much brasserie in style, the fish is fresh and the choice broad. Flathead, Whiting, Garfish are all there with prawns, scallops and Calamari. Louca's is a pleasant eatery for a balmy autumn afternoon and boasts a small but well chosen list of complementary wines. I'll be back.

If you're looking for an alternative to fish and chips from the local, but still want to eat seafood in a crumbed, battered or grilled form, Louca's is for you. An award winning seafood restaurant on popular Hutt Street, Louca's shows you the fish filleted and prepped to go sitting next to the bar, focussing on fresh produce with bare flavours letting the seafood sing. A small establishment it's best to book ahead unless you want to sit outside or come in early. Staff are attentive, helpful and chatty and the wine list is excellent with a decent beer selection. Louca's isn't too pricey compared to other eateries and the platters are decadent. The seafood here isn't fancy, its just great produce cooked simply in a nice setting. Good for a few mates who want to do something fancier than fish and chips at the pup or from the takeaway.
