Super Chill Better Than Home-Like Feel
My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Heywood last week. The facilities were the near perfect boutique feel - home-like with great personalized service. Mason, Erin and Ian made us feel so dang welcome and comfortable. They have numerous suggestions for restaurants and activities. They made it hard to leave! The architecture is way cool and upstairs outdoor patio deck is a great space for when friends come over. Everything flows. Our room was upstairs with a private outdoor patio space, a super huge soaking tub with a skylight and extremely comfortable bed. Most importantly they have a robust Cuisinart coffee maker with their own coffee blend and all the trappings for no extra charge. The community kitchenette is a fabulous amenity. They were very generous with a freebie basket full of goodies and even had a cool Eclipse tote bag as a gift since we were in town for the event. All in all a superb value and terrific time.

Everything about our stay at Heywood Hotel exceeded our expectations. We travel to Austin a minimum of 2-3x/year to watch our daughter compete in regattas at Lady Bird Lake. Usually, we stay at a major chain's flagship hotel downtown, where we are automatically upgraded, etc. However, tired of paying $65/night for parking and lack of customer service. So, we started looking for something more intimate east of 35 and within walking distance of the lake. Stumbled upon Hotel Heywood and will definitely be back. The personalized service was exceptional. Completed a pre-visit questionnaire ahead of our visit and room was stocked with our preferences (e.g., tea over coffee, Zilker beers, down-free pillows). Room was exceptionally clean and well-appointed. Knowingly booked the smallest room (Queen Bee) as we waited until the last minute. Room was still the perfect size for two. The weather was beautiful, so we fully enjoyed the communal outdoor space rather than lingering in our room. Convenient location within walking distance of Lady Bird Lake and tons of amazing restaurant options (e.g., Launderette, la Barbecue, Apt 115).
Be the first to ReplyThe best of hospitality in Austin!
Back to Austin, TX for a second year in a row, and much as we love the city, the Heywood Hotel was a key figure in our decision to return a second year in a row. Truly one of the most unique and special hotel experiences available. This is a beautifully restored boutique hotel, and the design is comfortable and clever. Each room has a unique flair. Great location in the East Austin area, but conveniently close to downtown, shopping at S. Congress, and LOTS of great food & music venues. But what really makes the Heywood stand apart is the exceptional level of service and hospitality. We've stayed in some of the top hotels in the country, but never received the level of care and personal attention we get from this group. Cara, Erin, Jayde and Ian all went the extra mile to make sure we were happy & comfortable, as well as helping with ideas for planning a day/evening out, directions, food options, etc. A few days prior to arrival, we received an email with a questionnaire to complete with a 'wish-list' of items we would like to have. Not only were these requests met, we were given a wonderful welcome basket with t-shirts, snacks, magazines, etc. The rooms are kept immaculately clean and beds are very comfortable. We are talking about a return trip to Austin, and will most definitely be back!

We were there for a family wedding and filled all the rooms. Cara, Erin, Jade and their team were fantastic and couldn't have been more accommodating. The rooms were spotless. Highly recommended. C & S

A wonderful little boutique hotel. Not far from downtown and near (walking distance from) a few spots we wanted to visit. Clean, modern rooms. Nice common areas and amenities. And Ian and Erin were VERY helpful during our pre-registration and check-in and during our stay! We will definitely stay here the next time we visit Austin!
Be the first to ReplyAwesome! Great!
Everything at this boutique hotel was great! From the front desk staff, the room, the amenities, the ambience. I canโt say anything went wrong. Everything I was interested in was within close distance. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Made recommendations for dinner and reservations at Intero Italian for a birthday dinner, which was acknowledged several times during the stay.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely delightful! My home away from home!
The Heywood was truly my home-away-from home for 6 nights! I visited Austin by myself to complete 1 of 4 clinical residencies at a local university, and by the time I left, I was so attached to the property (and my Queen Balcony room specifically) that I became wistful at the idea of leaving! LOCATION: The Heywood is located in the hip, eclectic, lushly green neighborhood of East Cesar Chavez, which is wonderfully devoid of the high-rise buildings (and congestion) you'll find in the city center West of the freeway. East Cesar Chavez is packed with unique, delicious places to eat (La Barbecue, Canje, and Joe's Bakery, just to name a few), and the blocks surrounding the Heywood are suburban and residential, adding to the homey feeling you get while staying here. The Heywood is a 3-minute drive from Whole Foods on 5th street, so you can stock up on breakfast food and snacks for your stay. HOSPITALITY: Will and Erin hosted the property during my stay, and both of them were so welcoming, helpful, accommodating, and offered much-appreciated recommendations for local activities and under-the-radar food spots to check out. I feel that Will and Erin struck just the right balance of professionalism and helpfulness, while allowing me my privacy and solitude. While I didn't run into the housekeepers since I was gone from 8am-5pm, they were thorough and thoughtful. My room was spotlessly clean every day when I got home, down to the ridges of my coffee machine! The Heywood has a kitchenette-type area inside the main building (about 20 feet from my door), where there is filtered hot and cold water on tap, a microwave, and stacks of coffee cups, clean bowls, plates, cutlery, and napkins, among other things. On my first morning, I took a bowl to my room for my yogurt and fruit for breakfast. The housekeepers took notice, and from that point on, placed a new clean bowl and spoon above my mini fridge every day when they came into clean. It is small, thoughtful touches like this that make you feel at home, and I appreciated it so much. CREATURE COMFORTS: I entered my room to find an awesome welcome basket containing various snacks from local vendors, coupons for local businesses, organic energy drinks, chocolate bark, etc. plus a thoughtful handwritten note from the staff welcoming me to Austin. My room was outfitted with a coffee machine, fresh ground coffee and all accoutrements, mini fridge stocked with local beers, a high-end air purifier, and an EXCELLENT and versatile air conditioning unit, which is much appreciated with Austin's weather in June. One unexpected and neat discovery was the white noise machine that Heywood provided; I had never used one before, and it was a total gamechanger for falling asleep fast, and staying asleep! The Heywood also provides each guest their own designated parking spot, free of charge, which is so valuable in the age of giant corporate hotels that charge an arm and a leg for that convenience. The parking spots are just down the stairs from the courtyard, which made coming and going throughout the day a total breeze. Lastly, the Heywood provides bikes to guests, which is such a cool way to explore the local food spots, explore the surrounding residential areas, and take in the beautiful Colorado River that is literally down the street! ROOM INFO: I stayed in the Queen Balcony room, which is on the Northeast side of the property, with its door opening to the outdoor courtyard. It is spacious, thoughtful, and comfortable. It has a long desk area with a window facing out into the courtyard, and since I came to Austin for a clinical residency, it was wonderful to sit here in the evenings and work on my reports as the sun went down. Both this window and the glass door leading to the balcony have blackout blinds, in case you don't want the sun to wake you in the morning. The room has a cute balcony with seating for two, which is set well off the street (so it's not too noisy), and is in a nook over the driveway, so you get the outdoor access without being stared at by passers-by. The balcony was such a peaceful place to spend my morning, drinking coffee as the sun rose, and listening to the grackle birds Austin is known for. The bathroom is sleek and modern, and the shower has a skylight peeking into the massive tree above the room, giving you a little window into nature. If you visit Austin, staying at the Heywood is an absolute must... it is one of those truly unique, one-of-a-kind stays that are so rare to come across. I can't wait for my next stay in October!

Comfortable room stacked with beverages and munchies which was a nice welcome. We were in room number 4 on the 2nd floor. The private patio space was like having another room. The common patio space was also welcoming with cushioned chairs, tables and shade covering. The neighborhood is East Austin and there were plenty of places to eat and drink if you didnโt have a car. We were there for two nights and at the time we were the only guest there in this 7 room boutique hotel. I would definitely stay here again.
Be the first to ReplyAustin, TX? Heywood Hotel!
I originally stayed 4/2018. I was so charmed by the beautiful design of the rooms, the detail of all the appointments w/in the room and the great care the staff gave. I returned. It was all that and more. The staff offered me expert advice of where to eat and visit. They took the time to engage with me about my interests so what they offered was tailored to my trip goals. After a day of visiting sites I returned to a home away from home. The bedding was perfect. The pillows sigh so embracing. The shower with the skylight was magical. It felt like villa in TX. The room felt perfect in every aspect, color, and texture. The Mexic Arte Museum was a recommendation that will be remembered as the highlight of this trip. And breakfast you ask? Joe's Bakery another recommendations by the staff. So Yum. Let me call it a dinner reminding me of my childhood in NJ. Fast, efficient, and engaging but, absolutely Mexican in each and every detail. Including the most amazing breakfast of Huevos Rancheros. The realz Austin here. So Heywood is where to rest your head, your heart, your time, and when you visit Austin, TX.

Charming boutique hotel in East Austin. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The local coffee was a nice touch and they even provided us with vegan creamer (on request). We enjoyed exploring Austin and took advantage of the complimentary bikes at the Heywood.

Amazing stay at the Heywood! The location was awesome. We really enjoyed walking around the neighborhood and lots of great restaurants nearby. The room was lovely and very clean and the bed and pillows were so comfortable. Especially enjoyed the friendly and helpful staff!
Be the first to ReplyOne of the most unique hotel experiences you'll ever have
Heywood Hotel in Austin, Texas, is advertised as a modern boutique hotel that features one of the most unique hotel experiences in the United States. That may be stretching the truth a tad but a stay at the Heywood is definitely different. Located at 1609 East Cesar Chavez Street in the East Austin neighborhood, it is a few blocks from downtown and surrounded by the city's best barbecue joints, microbreweries, honky tonks and craft cocktail lounges. It contains only seven guest rooms that are highlighted by local artwork. It is a non-smoking, no pets, no children under 10 hotel that offers free parking, free wi-fi, free bicycles and freshly brewed Heywood Blend coffee. My wife and I booked the King Patio room on the second floor overlooking the hotel's courtyard. It includes 292 square feet of space, a private patio, large picture windows, luxury king-size bed, large desk, 10-foot ceiling, hardwood floor, superior bathroom with tub, skylight and separate walk-in shower, 40-inch flat screen TV, iron and ironing board, in-room safe and an internet juke box for music you probably never heard before. If you drove past the place, you probably wouldn't stop. But we did our usual pre-trip research and Heywood Hotel was as good as advertised, a very comfortable and relaxing stay.

As far as boutique hotels goes, Heywood nailed it! The rooms were spotless, well appointed, and for such a small property footprint, both rooms I had the pleasure of staying in were spacious and the design/architecture was spot on. Such a cool property with a friendly and informative staff! I stayed at two other hotel properties while in town and neither of them came close to the experience I had at Heywood. Absolutely loved it and will make it my go-to when visiting Austin.

Everyone was so helpful, the room was perfect. The location was to die for: a 2 block walk to breakfast tacos, right down the road from La Barbecue (which we thought was better brisket than TerryBlack's), loads of great places to hang out right near by. We will definitely stay here again when we come back to Austin!
Be the first to ReplyAbsolute perfections at the Heywood Hotel!
This is one of my favorite hotel experiences ever. The list of reasons is long: nice towels, high quality bath and body products, fabulous bedding, quiet room, beautiful plants, comfortable furniture, super clean, private, custom coffee delivery each day, warm welcome by hotel owner, Kathy...the list goes on and on. I feel so grateful and lucky for my two heavenly nights at the Heywood Hotel.

Truly the best home away from home! So cozy, perfect walking distances to great stuff, all the amenities, on site parking, great coffee, incredible staff and even more amazing design and overall finish of this charming bungalow gem boutique hotel in Austin! I would move in if they would let me! They have all the best little touches, left us a bottle of bubbly to celebrate our engagement, a cute little note and just made our stay so special. Love the Heywood!

My husband and I spent 2 nights at the Heywood and we enjoyed our stay very much! We had everything we needed and wanted. We greatly appreciated the friendly, proactive communication and the early check-in, as well as the thoughtful decaf coffee kit which we had prearranged. You can also ask for snacks but we only wanted the coffee, which was excellent. The room was clean, comfortable, functional and attractive. It was very quiet so we slept well. The soft sheets and towels and the bath products are terrific! WiFi was reliable. There were full length and makeup mirrors and ample storage space. Weโre on a 7-1/2 week road trip so we brought a bit more belongings than usual to allow for different climates and we had plenty of room to unpack. The free parking space is so convenient. Austin is pretty spread out so we drove more than we might usually, so being able to come and go was helpful. We were even lucky that the weather was nice enough that we could hang out on our private patio, though thereโs very nice shared outdoor space as well. We generally prefer a larger safe, however we were able to fit everything in there that we needed to. I really canโt think of anything that would have improved our stay. There are lots of cool places to eat and drink in the neighborhood, and itโs not far from Rainey St. and Franklin BBQ. We liked walking over to Snooze for breakfast - truly among the best breakfasts weโve had anywhere (though we skipped the booze), and Juniper is a great choice for dinner. We thought it was a great value and one of our favorite hotels of the trip.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful boutique hotel in the heart of East Austin
This hotel is truly special. Small, intimate, beautifully-designed, and incredibly comfortable. There are numerous special touches that make the Heywood what it is - beautiful unique furniture and art in each room, a lovely common area outside with native plants and beautiful lighting, and lovely bedding. The location is perfectly located for enjoying East Austin as well. Wonderful owner/host. Can't recommend enough!

This hotel is perfect in every way. Iโll never stay anywhere else when Iโm in Austin. The care and attention to detail is next level, so appreciated and really made our stay amazing. The staff are all so friendly and helpful, the rooms are immaculately clean and so comfortable. I canโt recommend Heywood Hotel highly enough.

Be the first to ReplyBest Experience I've Ever Had at a Hotel
This was by far the best experience I've ever had at a hotel! From the reservation and check in process, to the attentive but never intrusive staff, to the beautiful hotel itself. We stayed here to celebrate my wife's birthday and the accommodations were perfect. The hotel has beautiful design and decor that is warm and comfortable while also being modern and stylish. It is perfectly upscale Austin without being at all pretentious. The hotel and room is extremely clean and well thought out. All the fixtures and furniture feel luxurious and cozy at the same time. The location is in the heart of the cool part of Austin with an excellent selection of restaurants and bars within walking distance. We stayed in the King Patio which was surprisingly quiet. Even though we were in east downtown Austin, we felt hidden, sheltered, and most important secure, which was perfect. The bathtub and sky lights were an awesome addition to the room. The staff were extraordinarily welcoming and attentive, from the reservation, to check in, to check out, while at the same time being very sensitive to our space. You knew they were there to help but were never invasive. Being a small boutique hotel, you felt like you had the place to yourself, even though you knew there were others there. It definitely feels like a small luxury hotel and not a house that was turned into a bed and breakfast. What made it so special beyond any other hotel that I've stayed at was the attention to detail. All the little details were amazing. Details you never think about or knew you wanted, but they made the experience that much better. Details to the decor to the personalization. I will most certainly recommend Heywood Hotel to anyone visiting Austin. It's perfect!

Several months ago we had planned a trip around a concert we had tix for in Austin. The Heywood Hotel was recommended by a friend who had never stayed there, but had seen it. I looked it up and liked what I saw so we reserved one of the rooms. There are seven in the hotel. A very cool period Craftsman home converted to a small hotel. A few days before the trip I was texted a link to list and choose โpreferencesโ for the room, i.e., coffee, tea, accompaniments, number of towels, etc. Weโve stayed at some impressive hotels before, but never received the level of service and care we had at the Heywood. Iโd give 10 stars if I could Upon arrival our room was impeccably clean, and all requested amenities were there, even a bottle of champagne on ice for our anniversary - I had forgotten that I had even mentioned it! Local chocolates provided as a welcome. Throughout our stay, both Maris and Alyssa were wonderfully gracious to us, as well as Kathy the owner, who we had the privilege to meet the last day of our trip. We did not opt for daily maid service but all were diligent to make sure we had everything we needed and offered addโl service if so desired. They also provided a much needed map of the area with all the restaurant, attractions, shopping, etc., around the area. As to location, it could NOT be beat. Easy walk to many restaurants and music venues, and a very short Uber ride into downtown for sightseeing & restaurants there. A HUGE thank you to everyone for helping to make our trip so special. We are already planning our next trip and will absolutely be back!
