Franco's Bar Positano Reviews from The Last Year
Drink with Positano View
Extraordinary view….We had some drinks at the terrace of Francos bar. The service was good and the service very quick. Unfortunately we had a little time as the bar closed. A little expensive but worth it.
Overrated
They don’t take bookings so you wait in line on the street but line wasn’t too long at 7pm. We got served after 3 other couples so sat down after us. We asked three times for our order. They forgot my partners order. Then we asked twice for the bill. Got lots of snacks complimentary (nice). Got seated in the middle so the view wasn’t as good. It’s 40 euro minimal Spend per person for the front seating. But for 26 euro per cocktail this is one of the most expensive places I’ve never seen and we just went to Santorini and Mykonos which I thought were expensive for cocktails. And we waited 30min for our order or one drink each. Also the seating is crammed and there was someone either side of me smoking cigarettes which the smoke blew in my face. I was uncomfortable and wanted to leave but we had already sat down. Very over rated sorry. Go to Rada Sky Lounge instead….
The best bar with a vibe
Opening week of 2024, loved the music, drinks and all round vibe. Yes it was expensive and to sit at the table on the coastal side, there js a higher minimum spend.
Arrogant and not worth it
Deliberately making queues, making people to wait oitside even though there were avalable seats and tables inside. Calculating with every seat, e.g. didn’t want to accomodate three people at a table for four. The view is nothing special, you have better view from the street uphill or in the bars by the sea. Very humiliating experience, to plead to give them the money.
Incredible views and friendly staff! They offer
Incredible views and friendly staff! They offer interesting drinks here. I ordered Path of the Gods - champagne with pistachio syrup. I didn't like it or dislike it but it was interesting to drink effervescent champagne with a heavier syrup like pistachio. My husband had a mint mezcal drink that was delicious though and my dad enjoyed his gin and tonic. Prices are steep, and one of the most expensive (next to Aldo's). But you get the incredible view with it!
Stylish but expensive
Admittedly the views are super and the location stylish to a fault so go if you must for the instagrammable photo opportunity and to watch the rich set. But with a minimum spend of €20 per head and €25 for an Aperol Spritz, there’s better value to be had down on the beach where you can have your evening Aperol Spritz for €11 at Blu bar while the waves lap the beach!
Over priced
Very Rude, because of the excellent location the costs are astronomically high and service is zero poor. We asked if we could move to a seat at the front they did not accommodate saying only 2 guests. Even though only a stool to moved I had not finished by drink before that wanted to take away twice and on leaving no thank you for spending 25€ per drink.
Chi beve vino campa cent'anni Went to Franco's bar and
Chi beve vino campa cent'anni Went to Franco's bar and this is definitely the place to be! This bar has the best views of the city and the fun part- right next door to our hotel! Before this place opens there's a line down the street! We headed over for drinks and it was actually great! We did sit in close quarters by people but we ended up making friends with those next to us, it was a great experience! If you can get in it's worth it!
A dream.
Franco's Bar.. A corner of paradise in Positano! The queue is long... but it's worth the wait!! It's like looking at a painting... from that terrace!! Highly recommended! Fair price for what it offers, and for the place where it is located! An experience to do in summer...in autumn...always!!! I will be back soon!! Very kind, friendly and imaginative staff!
Ordered: Ieri, Oggi, Domani cocktail (~€25): Casamigos
Ordered: Ieri, Oggi, Domani cocktail (~€25): Casamigos Blanco, Aperitif wine, passionfruit, and Prosecco Aya's take: Franco's Bar can't help but be eye-catching when you walk by! From the colors to the ambiance to the music, we had to check it out. It was our last night in Positano and the night was still young! I like the complementary popcorn and olives they gave us to start. And we were definitely off to a good start with the saltiness of the popcorn and brininess of the olives. The cocktail was good but not exceptional. At that price point, I expected the spirits and juices to be combined more masterfully. If you're looking for a chill vibe to unwind after dinner, Franco's Bar will do the trick.
The location of the bar is picturesque! You get the views
The location of the bar is picturesque! You get the views of Positano that you see in pictures and movies. Amazing views, vibe and music. Drinks were extremely overpriced though. To sit by the glass window/waterfront, you need a reservation. We sat at another table initially but asked to be moved when a waterfront table opened up which we were able to shortly after. One of the waiters told the couple sitting next to us there was a minimum to sit there. We were not charged a minimum for the table, so something to clarify before you choose those seats as well.
Ok place for a pre-dinner drink
We stumbled upon this spot by accident, not knowing about any of the hype. We had to wait for about 10 minutes which was ok. We were seated in the second row so we didn't really have much of a view until we popped over to the front to take a picture. The drinks are very pricey. The ones we had were fine but nothing special to justify their price. Service was good though.
Really fun place for drinks.
The drinks were ok but the views made up for it. The service was good and they give you olives and popcorn. Really great tequila menu. Overall, it's more of a place for great vibes and views of Positano!
Cute bar with good drinks
Nice bar with tasty drinks. We arrived at 5:40 pm and the line wasn’t too bad, but it definitely kept growing closer to 6 and the rest of the evening. We were able to sit at one of the front tables with the great view (FYI, there is a 40 Euro minimum/person when sitting in that area versus the rest of the bar, which is fairly easy to do with the prices of drinks). It was a great spot for photos and we were able to watch the sunset. We ordered a bottle of Rose which was delicious. I only wish there were some more food options. There are free olives and bottomless popcorn as a snack but otherwise no other food available. A good spot to stop before dinner but make sure to get there a bit early to secure one of the front seats!
The most overrated bar in all of Italy
After waiting 20 minutes in line for the bar to open, we were on of the first people seated. If you aren’t the first 5 couples, not worth it. With the exception of the seats right at the balcony, the seats are low and oriented so only one person faces the water. Enjoy looking at the blank wall across the street. Also, they clearly have jammed as many tables as possible in. So you are literally shoulder to shoulder with your fellow diners. The service is horrible. We ordered water and watched as the rest of the restaurant got their waters, and then drinks, while we had to ask 4 times (including to the manager) to get a drink after baking in the sun in line. They were more than happy to bring us weak cocktails (at 25€ each) and actually brought those before the water. There is also a 20€ minimum with no food to order. So if you don’t drink alcohol, enjoy a 25€ juice. This was probably a cool place once, but it’s not worth the headache now. They have leaned into their own hype and lost their way. Unless you are an Instagram model, avoid this place. Even if you are, there are probably better spots to have your boyfriend take pictures of you.
Pretty view, obviously.
And our waitress was on point. But its tiny, tik-tok central and everyone looks miserable to be there. It's basically just like being in LA. They do have really yummy popcorn though. Definitely tourist trap vibes. Not worth your time. Its just a bunch of lame, self absorbed people trying to look like theyre not as unhappy as they really are.
Absolutely worth a stop
I'm originally from the place and I had never had the opportunity to have an aperitif in this magnificent place. The location speaks for itself, a terrace directly overlooking the sea with a splendid view of Positano. But a note of merit goes to the staff, extremely kind guys who are super attentive to every need. Amazing cocktails, perhaps never tasted so good. We tried 4 of them and each was better than the other. I absolutely recommend trying it.
Fabulous!
A beautiful place for cocktails. We arrived and it was full. Alessandro asked us to kindly wait and a spot would open up shortly. He was so friendly and speaks great English. We all ordered cocktails. We all agreed that these were the BEST tasting drinks we had while in Positano. It's a beautiful spot and we found them to be very friendly. I highly recommend this hot spot.
I would never wait 5 minutes for a table here...
For the life of me, I do not get the hype and reviews around this place...they must have the best publicist in the world. We spent 12 days in Positano, 6 of them at Le Sirenuse which is next door to Franco's bar. We had read nothing but the most amazing things about Franco's so we were very excited to try it. The bar opens at 6 pm and by 6:15 pm there are at least 20 people in line to get in. We went on our 2nd night after dinner around 9:00 pm and there was no one waiting in line so we stopped by. Despite no one waiting in line, they still make you stand behind the velvet rope while they "check for availability." I spent 15 years in Los Angeles so I'm well versed in velvet ropes and "checking avail" (even when a place is a ghost town). After 3 minutes of checking for avail, we were taken to a low top tiny table with tiny ottoman chairs to sit on. All the "tables" were so close together you might as well have been in conversation with everyone on either side of you. The service was slow and they never asked if you wanted another drink, which was fine since the drinks were average anyway. There is also zero shade so if you do go at 6 pm, you will be in the blazing hot sun for at least 2 hours. There are so many places in Positano with better service, better drinks, better seating...better everything. If you walk by and can get right in, I guess check it out. If you even have to wait 1 minute while they "check availability"...keep walking right next door.
Yes, I'm sure you've heard it all before.
The prices are steep but the views and vibes are immaculate, the drinks are tasty, and what better place is there to watch a Positano sunset? If you want to avoid lines, I strongly suggest arriving at least 45 minutes before sunset. That way you can settle in with a nice cocktail, watch the sunset, and laugh while everyone else waits in line wishing they were you. At 25€ per drink, no one really stays for long so the good news is if you do get stuck in line, it usually moves pretty quickly, especially if you don't have a large party (great for couples!) The service was also so surprisingly friendly and welcoming here both times we stopped by, which was not always what we experienced elsewhere in Positano/Italy in general. Do it for the gram--you know you want to!!!
We had heard about the popularity of this place but when we
We had heard about the popularity of this place but when we sat down we were shocked. You really get a view anywhere in Positano so to say that you're paying for the view really makes no sense. One cocktail being €25 is absurd. Would really benefit from some better music, maybe a dj to make the vibe match the price. The service is lackluster, but it is europe after all. Cocktails were fine, closer to $17 quality
VIP sunsets with VIP views at this gorgeous, exclusive, one
VIP sunsets with VIP views at this gorgeous, exclusive, one of a kind, bar. Yes, you're paying for your drink: aka the best view in the house. What to expect? Long lines, tiny seating, ok drinks but a WHOLE vibe. Come dressed up and dress the part. We came after a day of sightseeing so not the cutest outfits but if you're in the area come dressed up. It will elevate your whole experience and it truly feels like a VIP bar experience. Again, the drinks were just ok and highly pricey. But then again, when will you ever be in a place like this? All cocktails come with a cute box of popcorn and olives. Yes, other aperitivo places are a lot more generous but like I said, you're paying for the vibes and the views. Once you know that and what to expect you'll be perfectly fine. It for sure is worth the line and the wait. An amazing experience I won't forget with a very forgettable drink. Like I said, you're in Positano with the best view of the house. Even the locals love coming here.
I didn't know about this place until we got to our hotel
I didn't know about this place until we got to our hotel and I looked up this bar. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that this spot was literally a few steps from our stay in Positano. This place is highly famous on TikTok for their picturesque drinks and even better night time views. We went here for drinks and enjoyed every moment. Now, please note the minimum spend was €50/table and €100 for the tables that overlook Positano. So keep that in mind. The drinks (in my opinion are delicious), and the €100 was money well spent because of the experience. Of course, there are other places that you can get a drink but this place has fun drinks, great ambiance, and fun lounge music. This experience was more of a "let's give it a try and see what it's like". Do it for the experience, and the delicious drinks.
