We came here for a date night while we were in Paris, and had an absolutely amazing dinner. As you probably know, this is a pre fixe only restaurant, but they have across the street an area where you can get wine and snacks. We did the main restaurant, the prefix menu. It is a five course meal with an additional two or three courses that are not counted as part of the five. You can do a basic wine pairing for €70 or an elite wine pairing for 115. We opted for the higher level and we did not regret it. The meal itself was €140 per person, and honestly was worth every penny. The five courses were a scallop dish, a vegetable ravioli, a skate fish, a rabbit, and a kiwi dessert. The service, as you can, imagine, was absolutely stellar. The staff were kind, spoke perfect English, and super helpful. The entire meal took just over two hours and was absolutely an incredibly enjoyable experience. I would highly recommend this for a nice dinner out if you are in Paris.

Excellent food and service! This was one of our high points while in Paris. The staff made our visit extra special!
Be the first to ReplyLet's all say it together.
The service and food are amazing. We were treated to a spectacular meal during our stay in Paris. I can't say enough about how well-prepared each dish was! The wine pairing was spot on too! Don't waste your time looking at "additional" options. You simply must get a reservation and treat yourself to a delicious experience! The space allows for plenty of room to have a wonderful dining experience. Don't hesitate... make the booking a soon a you can!!! Thank you to the wonderful front-of-the-house staff!

David's pastries and croissants hold up to anything I've had in France or Italy. His cold brew is so good I drink it Year round.

No huge complaint. Not the worst meal I have had abd the best. I would give it 4.5 stars if I had that option.

Réservations are a MUST! We booked 3 weeks to the day when that day was opened. Had the second seating so we went across the street for a couple of glasses of champagne before we were seated. The tasting menu rotates seasonally so I wont go into the dishes but each dish was prepared superbly. We did the accompanying wine pairs and it was all excellent. Definitely fine dining with a bit more casual atmosphere. This was our favorite dinner of the trip.
Be the first to ReplyReally nice ambience.
. nice, casual, yet upscale feel. We sat at the bar so could see all of the intricate food prep! All of the dishes were beautifully presented & tasted great. They even offered gluten free bread to my friend who has a gluten intolerance. Great service, great food, great ambience.. what more do you need?! To get a reservation you need to be on their site right at 10 am (Paris time) 3 weeks in advance.

I don't like make reviews on places that I don't like but you have to post the good with the bad. And unfortunately this was not good. Walking in the strong smell of cheese was unpleasant to the senses. Which should have been enough for our group to walk out but we attempted the food anyway. The onion tart was the only decent meal on the table. Everyone was so disappointed I didn't even take photos. The steak wasn't good, the potato pancakes were soft and mushy and the chicken cordon blue was cover in the unpleasant smelling cheese which also did not taste good. Our server was pleasant but had no insight into the disappointment the entire table was experiencing.

Made a reservation online about three weeks out and came for dinner in August 2023. Won't go too much into detail because the menu rotates, but the 5-course tasting was excellent - everything was super creative, flavorful and fun. A standout was the rosemary sorbet interlude, as well as the chicken course. Service was great, but didn't love that they started herding us out of there the second dessert hit the table so they could prepare for the next seating (we were part of the earlier one). We headed across the street to their wine bar where we happily kept the night going, but the end of the tasting was definitely a little abrupt. 4.5 stars.
Be the first to ReplyImagine rediscovering your Mom's worst kitchen experiments?
Imagine rediscovering your Mom's worst kitchen experiments? That was the tomato sorbet with foam! Reminded me of my Mom's tomato aspic, only chilled. The two highlights were the chicken and lobster. Otherwise, the food was especially bland and the dishes were unbalanced. A good example involves the chicken. The salty chicken was good but paired with an overly sweet date and apple sauce combo. My wife and I laughed when the dinner started saying "Predict the foam and the smeerings across the plate!" See, we have been to this sort of dinner with Thomas Keller, Graham Elliot and Gordon Ramsay. The genre has grown tired with us. To us, the foam is not food. Finally, all the sauces! Only one - for the chicken - actually tasted like anything. It was shocking because of the waitress' descriptions of capers and fennel and all sorts of flavors. But for us, the sauces did nothing for the dishes. I am an experienced cook and do all the cooking in my house. Last night was a disappointment on many levels. We hate to see people pay so much money for all of the hype only to be disappointed.
Be the first to ReplyYou've heard things about this place.
Dirty, dirty things. And those rumors were very well founded. This place ends up doing things to you that you've never experienced in your life: easily one of the best dining experiences you've ever had. This place only does a tasting menu: 5 courses, but you know right away that was a fucking lie.Amuse Bouche: a trio. A "bao" of Roquefort cheese and a sour cherry, a mini tart of apple and celery, and a prepared oyster with cauliflower espuma (foam). Your mouth is very amused.Course #1. Foie Gras with bok choy, snow pea, charred broccoli, and blood orange segements. The richness of the foie perfectly balanced by the vegetables. A great start. The rustic white with orange rind in it helps bring this all together.Course #2. Langostino tortellini with citrus and a langostino broth. Your mind is reeling from how perfectly prepared and perfectly balanced this dish is. You lick the last drops of broth off of your mistress' boot. The 2010 white wine paired with this exquisite.Course #3. Scallops with a purée of kale and a coffee vinegar. (Side note: the coffe used was the same coffee mentioned in Coffee Porn #5). The scallop is perfectly firm yet soft in your mouth. The balance struck between kale and coffee is mind boggling. The Grand Cru Riesling from Alsace finished with notes of ginger at the end? Phenomenal.Course #4. Lamb 2 ways: A mini lamb loin on the bone and a lamb tenderloin stuffed with nuts and citrus finished with a lamb jus. The Syrah paired with the lamb beautifully.Secret Course #1: mini pita with braised lamb and crema. Arguably better than the amazing lamb dish you just had.Secret Course #2: cheese course. Specifically, a triple cream brie with apple and a Brie foam with pomegranate seeds. Incredibly inventive and successful way to serve cheese.Course #5. Chocolate cake with an avocado cream and mango tuiles. The chocolate: dark and rich. The avocado breaks up the richness while the mango's sharpness balances the whole thing.Secret Course #3. Apricot gelée candy piece, chocolate caramel chew, and chocolate piece. You knew these sneaky fuckers weren't sticking to 5 courses. This meal was the perfect balance of excellent service, perfectly prepared and executed food, and the perfect amount of food. Truly one of the greatest meals had by anyone.
Be the first to ReplyWow, what a culinary delight.
Frenchie is a very small restaurant located in an alley filled with chef Gregory Marchand establishments (wine bar, more casual FTG). The restaurant has a very warm, intimate, and almost homey-like ambiance that's not common of most Michelin-rated restaurants. Frenchie takes a more casual approach to fine dining, making the very elevated course meal feel more approachable. We were blown away by the service (employees all seemed so genuinely committed to providing the best experience) and every single course that came out. Starting with the amuse bouche that was visually impressive but also tasted unique and delicious, every single course was a visual work of art but equally matched in flavor and execution. Appreciated the introduction and use of some unique techniques and flavors/pairings and the entire meal was a delightful journey.

They have to searing times and is a small restaurant for about 20 people. They have a set 5 course menu $125 euros and wine paring for $60 euros. Delicious food, great experience and definitely deserves great reviews.

This was my favorite meal while vacationing in France with my husband. The chef visited all the tables before dinner began and he was most down-to-earth, sweet man. You could tell he cared a lot about his patrons' experience and was so glad he was a cool dude. We had an array of unique dishes, many with ingredients we normally would avoid. We ate everything and loved every bite. The sommelier was also super cool and I loved the wine pairings she recommended. I can't recall the details of every dish we had and appreciate that the menu changes based on seasonality and availability. The entire course flowed perfectly and I loved the surprises by a lot of the dishes. I prefer 1 michelin star restaurants because they don't go overboard with the dining experience and am glad this place didn't either. There are definitely unique and innovative creations coming out of this kitchen, but nothing that will leave your stomach unsettled. The restaurant is hard to find so allow extra time to get there. With all the michelin starred restaurants in Paris, I'm so glad we chose a solid one! Thank you French for a beautiful meal.

Dining in Paris presented a rare opportunity for easy access to Michelin starred restaurants. With over 90 One-Star Michelin restaurants to choose from, it was hard deciding which ones to check out during the 3 nights we were in Paris. Frenchie consistently popped up as one of the must-try restaurants in Paris, so I made sure to log in at 5PM Chicago time 3 weeks out to snag a reservation.Location/Ambiance: Frenchie is located in a small cobblestone street just off main road. Chef Marchand has pretty much made Rue du Nil his own personal alley with Frenchie, Frenchie To Go, Frenchie Wine Store, and Frenchie Wine Bar all located in a small cluster together. The inside is small and intimate and can fit maybe 20 people during each dinner session. The entire night there were walk-ins who were disappointed to find out Frenchie was essentially reservation-only and it was completely booked for the night.Food: They only offered a Chef's Tasting Menu, with no items available a la carte. Dinner consisted of about 5 courses, and was paced out to be around 2 hours long. You can choose from either thee 6:30PM or 9PM sessions. Dinner was 125eu per person, with an additional 60eu if you wanted the introductory level wine pairing. My wife and I have previously experienced tasting menus at Michelin starred restaurants, but we are by no means regulars in the fine dining scene. One of my favorite aspects of a tasting menu is to see how Chefs can take food that I typically wouldn't choose to eat on my own, and then transform the flavors into something that a pickier eater like myself is blown away by.There are a lot of Japanese/French fusion Michelin restaurants in Paris, but Frenchie leaned more toward modern French cuisine. All the course seemed to be seasonally ingredient-driven and cultivated some strong flavors from simple ingredients. One of my favorite bites of the night was the first one, where a piece of smoked eel literally tasted like a bacon flavor bomb to me. All the dishes did focus a little more toward vegetables, and I wish they did a red meat dish rather than chicken, but otherwise everything they served still tasted great. Additionally, I thought they did a great job with the wine pairings. Each pairing truly did resemble/complement the flavors of the course being served. Be the first to ReplyAbsolute perfection! Top 3 meals of my life.
There is a lot of hype around Frenchie so I was overjoyed to get a reservation for dinner during our trip to Paris. Reservations open three weeks ahead of time and are necessary - the place is very small and intimate. It's a chef-tasting menu and I ended up getting the wine pairing to go with it. I was impressed not only by the flavors but the attention to detail in every dish that came out. One of my favorite dishes was presented on a plate of fall leaves and rocks. On top are two crackers in the shape of a leaf with dots of aioli and smoked/cured eel. It was nothing like I'd ever tasted before - the smoky eel flavor with the creaminess of the aioli was a perfect blend. It's one of those bites that you want to ask for more and more of. That's how I felt about all the dishes. Fresh farm veggies with ice cream on top. White fish with a mushroom mouse. The meal was outstanding, creative, and detailed. If you can get a reservation you should definitely go! I will be thinking about this meal until I go back to Paris and visit Frenchie again!
Be the first to ReplyOne of the most outstanding food experiences I've ever had.
From the first to last course, everything was divine to the tongue!
Be the first to ReplyTasting menu, second service, with wine pairing.
One of our favorites in Paris. Meal consisted of tuna tartare with watermelon and tomatoes which was ok, smoked eel ravioli which was excellent, monkfish with watercress sauce was only ok, and the final protein was pigeon which was excellent and surprising addition to the meal. Pre-dessert was a blueberry dish with sorbet and merengue that was excellent. The menu had a strong Japanese influence, which we loved. Food was beautifully presented. Of the wine pairing, 4 of the 5 wines were excellent, only 1 which had a lot of smoky notes and almost had a whisky flavor was a little odd but even in that case it did go well with the dish it was paired with. Overall, menu was reasonably priced for Michelin starred dining and an experience worth having in Paris. Food is creative and dinner is executed nearly flawlessly. Staff was outstanding and service was impeccable. If you are unable to get a reservation here, check out the wine bar directly across the street.

Gorgeous flavor profiles. The pris fixe was modified to support a friends allergy to shellfish and it still blew us away. I will be back!
Be the first to ReplyThe absolute best dining experience we had in Paris.
... Only con was they give you way too much food... if that even is a negative. Probably not for most people but I felt guilty not finishing each dish and by the end of it I was ready to explode... also wanted to finish everything because it was delicious. There really isn't a point in describing what we were served because it's a blind tasting and it changes all the time. I wouldn't want to ruin the surprise for anyone but I do have to say everything was super delicious with surprising combos and ingredients I had never heard of. It wasn't overly molecular gastronomy but there were subtle touches that added to the dishes and enhanced the experience. Can't wait to go back! Also the wine pairing was spectacular! Loved every second of this meal, the service, and the staff.

Reservations weeks in advance is absolutely necessary to dine at an establishment like this. My second time here. Very sophisticated vibe here. It's chef's choice for each course, with timed reservation seatings. Soup, fish, duck were the main stars. Flavors are intensely amazing. Wine here is also excellent, and the sommelier is an awesome guy. Would visit this place every time I'm in Paris.

I made a reservation online 3 months before my trip to Paris for 8pm dinner. Few days before the reservation, i got an email saying they only have 6:30 or 9pm seating. I told them i prefer the 9pm, they said they will try their best to accommodate. Before heading to the restaurant, i email them to make sure its available, but no one replied. So i headed to the restaurant and waited outside, the hostess came out and said sorry we dont have a table for you. Well if they told me from the start i dont have a table i wouldnt head there! Very disappointed with the service here!

One of my best dining experience with reasonable prices! Every course is fantastically well presented. Platings were elegant and every bite was very delicious. We seated at the bar and I enjoyed watching how chefs prepare dishes. Even they are working hard they were very kind to make conversations with us and explained about the food and ingredients. I would love to come back paris just to eat here.

I had dinner with a friend on February 28 at Frenchie Bar a Vins. We each had gotten a great recommendation for Frenchie before leaving the states. They likely were referring to the main restaurant across the street. It was booked before we left the US, but we decided we would stop by at opening time to see if we could get in. When we got to Frenchie Restaurant, the staff confirmed they were completely booked, but directed us across the street as an option. I hadn't known about their bar restaurant, and was excited because many times the experience at a restaurant's sister bar is the best experience! There already were a couple of folks in line waiting for the bar to open, so we jumped on. Frenchie Bar a Vins definitely is equal to any formal fine dining experience in my view! In fact, I likely would have been disappointed had I dined at the formal restaurant and not known about the bar first. The bar is a total package of the best dining experience: great staff; great vibe; great music; great, expertly prepared food! And with all of that, not a break the bank restaurant given the big sister restaurant has one Michelin star. Frankly, the bar could have that star also, at a minimum Bib Gourmand. After my experience at Bar a Vins, I would go again to the bar and not worry about the formal restaurant. The bar is definitely more my style of fabulous but casual dining, where I can sit back and enjoy without the stuffiness that sometimes invades fine dining. I'm looking forward to returning some day!
