I don't usually write reviews but we visited Gaucho's for my husbands birthday with our family. We arrived early so asked if we could have a drink at the bar, we were shown to a dated room which was extremely hot, lacked atmosphere and the bar was closed. Eventually someone came with drinks menus and took our drinks order.
On requesting to be shown to our table we were shown to another room that lacked atmosphere with no natural light, was poorly lit and only one other table was occupied. There was someone cleaning the wine bottles on show for the duration of our lunch, which surely should be done before the restaurant opens.
Our waiter introduced himself then disappeared and another waiter served us.
We all ordered the the 'never ending roast' as we were told if one person wanted this option we all had to have it!!! We also ordered some bread, whilst we waited, but this was a total waste as it arrived with our mains.
Our food arrived and was awful.... Some of the beef was raw, like it hadn't been cooked at all and some overcooked. The green beans were overcooked and soggy and it was all lukewarm. The menu stated that we could chose from three different joints of meat but we were only offered beef or lamb which we had the last of and it was only 2pm. We had to ask for condiments which took ages to arrive.
The desserts were ok apart from the sticky toffee pudding which looked good but was very dry like it was past its best.
What should have been a lovely birthday lunch was extremely disappointing and for a family of 7 cost £500 which I believe for a below average experience to be extortionate.
