Gaucho Smithfield served an excellent dinner with wonderful
Gaucho Smithfield served an excellent dinner with wonderful wine recommendation by our attentive and knowledgeable waitperson Philli, who provided an incredible customer experience and really made our dinner and time special.
Be the first to ReplyStandard steakhouse chain with a bit more pizazz.
The staff are friendly, the cow hide decor is definitely something, and for a chain it's pretty clean and intimate. The wine and cocktails were good - great to start and the drinks were kept filled the entire meal. We started with scallops and sweetbread. Both were good but my only complaint was that the sweetbread was cold when I got it. We ordered two steaks and the mushroom tagliatelle. The pasta was good from what I could tell and we enjoyed our steaks. The chorizo was definitely better than the ribeye. My favourite part of the meal was the desert course. Loved loved loved the trio of desserts (particularly the crepe with caramel). I'd recommend coming here for a pre-theatre dinner with friends or a date. Business meals would be really good here as well!

Excellent beef and sourceOnly negative is staff are too busy and not noticed us waiving hands for minutes. Overall good experience
Be the first to Replysteak unevenly cooked.
poor service. Asked for one glass of wine, got another 3x the price. "Discretionary" service charge of 12.5% added. £74 for one person.

From the interesting choice of cowhide on the walls to the wooden board that they bring around to show you all the different types of steaks, Gaucho has consistently branded itself as an Argentinian steakhouse. I came here for lunch last week with the coworkers and had a good time. The staff was very friendly and try to give you a leisurely experience (they would probably let you sit in there all day if you wanted to). The wait for our food wasn't as bad as others have described it and our server was pretty attentive. They started off giving us bread and this olive oil pepper dip thing. The little bread rolls are delicious! I'm normally not a big meat eater, but decided to try the Lamb Rump and passed on appetizers since the food looked so filling. It was. The lamb was beautifully cooked and everything was well-seasoned. I loved how unlike the people who ordered steaks, my dish featured some delicious asparagus, snap peas, and tomatoes. Good to get some vegetables in there. Despite the more delicate presentation, I was so stuffed and barely finished my lamb. Would definitely come back (with stretchy pants of course).

I had the spiralized marinated filet. The meat quality was good but not outstanding. I like my steaks at a rare +, so maybe I would have preferred a thicker cut like the traditional filet. They did cook it to the right doneness but something just seemed to be missing. Everyone else in my party was enamored by the steaks, but I thought it was a run of the mill expense account place in terms of steak quality. The sausages were amazing, and the ceveiche held its own. Also the side dishes like beans, mashed potatoes, and fries were really good.Presentation was cool as they serve steaks on cutting boards. The service was the big downer here. Although we were treated with very friendly banter and attitude from the staff, it was exceptionally slow. It was Saturday night and we were one of the handful of parties in the entire restaurant and it took us over 3 hours to finish our meals. Really disappointing, especially being a client dinner of 10 people.

The food was decent for a London steakhouse but the service on a weeknight was shockingly slow with a steak and dessert dinner taking three hours (including over 30 minutes waiting for the one waitress to let us pay)
Be the first to ReplyService is discreet and the steaks are truly fabulous.
Wine list is quite extensive, although the advise can be a bit patchy, best go with someone who knows their wine quite well.Don't forget to ask for the sharing steak option if you're going with a group.

Excellent meal! Meat is of a very high quality and the way it is cooked is excellent. The staff are hugely knowledgable on wines and cuts. We had Mario he was fantastic from start to finish. Food was prompt.Recommend the cheesy bread for starters so good we ask for more. Obviously steak for main course. Range of cuts on the table all brilliant. Desert lovely too. All enjoyed with a few bottles of a smooth Malbac. Look forward to visiting again.

What a great coincidence: my birthday was on Malbec day !!!Therefore, not only did we have a great meal at Gaucho, with an amazingly friendly service, great wine and tasty meat, but we had a unique experience: Malbec sangria, Malbec tasting session, Malbec-glazed steak, then Malbec Porto, and finally, a chocolate cheesecake with Malbec ice cream. We are aware that this was an unusual menu, however, we'll surely go back to Gaucho, if only for the great romantic, solemn atmosphere.
