A delightful lunch
The food is simply delicious, the menu has a good variety. The staff is very attentive and friendly. The place is peaceful for a nice lunch and dinner. And it has amazing views! Best value for money.
Be the first to ReplyBest Steak we’ve ever had!
My husband and I came for lunch by pure luck and the food was some of the best we’ve ever had! Our waitress Oxana was very kind, prompt and overall great at her job! Highly recommend Gillrays!
Be the first to ReplyWonderful breakfast at Gillray’s with the most amazing view!!
We had our breakfast in Gillray’s looking out at Big Ben and the London Eye!! What could be better than that?! The food was lovely, the coffee was hot and the smile and excellent service from our server, Sanda, was wonderful!!
Be the first to ReplyGreat bar service!! Jaime was amazing and helped us answer questions about the city and his drinks were stellar!!
Incredible service, friendliness, and great food! Drinks and food were amazing. The attention to detail and the food choices were incredible.

Very good experience at Gillrays breakfast. Sanda was very good with all of our orders. We will definitely be back
Be the first to ReplyExpected great but sadly received poor quality
We ordered 2 x waghu burgers, 1 x picanhu steak and 1 x ceasear salad and sirloin plus sides. Two of our sides didn’t turn up. We prompted the waiter just after our mains were served but unfortunately the sides turned up just as we were finishing the meal. The waghu burgers were excellent. The Caesar salad was ok. The picanho steak was really tough. We had ordered med/rare and when we asked the waiter if it would benefit from a little longer cooking we were told no. The triple cooked chips were extremely over cooked. The cauliflower cheese was ok but not great. Overall our party have had much better meals locally in Suffolk. The Gillray is way overpriced for the standard of cooking.

A great hotel with a great view! Have a nice service at Gillray’s Steakhouse & Bar with Sanda also. We have a nice stay at this hotel. It’s close to our destination that makes us easier to get there. Miss u London and hoping we will back soon.

We had several amazing meals at Gillray’s during our stay. Our favorite experience was our breakfasts, mainly due to the exceptional attention from our servers. Ana and Lucica made me feel so special while celebrating my birthday, remembering our conversation from the day before.
Be the first to ReplyWorst dining experience ever!
We decided to eat at this restaurant for an anniversary dinner. It was terrible and I left in tears. The steaks weren’t cooked properly, food service was super slow, all dishes didn’t come out together and some ordered dishes didn’t come at all. We wanted it to be special but it was just especially bad. We were so disappointed, especially given the high prices they charge.

Wrong order, wobbly table, food on floor, not serve a glass of cider to our 17 yr old even though with family and with a meal, £30 service charge!, lots of staff hanging around not doing much, ribeye full of fat.
Be the first to ReplyTruly great experience!
The reception at the entrance was pleasant and accommodating, the time frame from taking our order to receiving it was exceptional. We appreciated our server Felicia who was very professional and her recommendations spot on. She had a trainee with her as well who was well composed. Also the attention from Vyan who also entertained us was delightful.

Cissa and her co-workers did an exceptional job of making our stay at the Marriott County Hall a delight. Cissa was our server for both dinner and breakfast during our stay and could not have been more kind or professional. It helped that the food was great!

Having previously had a fantastic afternoon tea experience within the library of this Marriott hotel, we decided to try their restaurant Gillrays. However, this was an experience I would not repeat. It was extremely overpriced for what was quite frankly extremely average food. Pre arrival I thought I was going to go for the chefs hat menu, however the menu had since changed from what was shown online. As there was nothing on the new chefs hat much to my liking I opted for the fish and chips from the a la carte priced at £23!! This wouldn’t have been ridiculous had it been the best fish and chips I’d ever had, however, whilst it was not what I could say was terrible, it was certainly the least tasty fish and chips I’ve ever had. The fish lacked any flavour as did the chips which were bordering on a bit dry. The ‘posh’ peas were basically mushy peas with some whole ones throughout. The tartare sauce was not home made, it was from a well known little jar served on the side! On the back of this I decided not to order the sticky toffee pudding priced at £11 in case it was a similar experience I.e. extremely overpriced and extremely average. I do not mind at all paying slightly higher prices for great food but this was not! I’d even much rather pay £35 for a great main than £23 for an average one. You could get a far superior one most other places for around £15. The other two diners I was with opted for the chefs hat, good value at £28, but the potatoes on the starter were a bit hard, the rump steak (£7 supp) was a bit tough, chips same as above and nothing else served with it. Overall, I feel if you are going to charge these a la carte prices the food should be very good, however it appears here that they think the location is enough to charge these inflated prices. And even the view is only good if you are the right table, so not worth paying this even for a view which you may or may not get. The service was okay but certainly not worth the £15 service charge, and there was no atmosphere whatsoever. This was the least satisfactory meal we had in our whole trip or in fact any time I’ve been in London. There are much better places to eat, with or without a view!

I can’t recommend this place enough. The bar is lovely too so arrive early and have a cocktail. Keep an eye out on the Bookatable/Top Table deals as often they’re quite good and get you a great deal in a lovely setting.

The last 5 days we had the best time at breakfast that I think I ever had! Our server Sanda was full of personality plus. She was attentive, entertaining and friendly. We will definitely be back again!
Be the first to ReplyMother's Day treat
The staff were super kind and attentive to my elderly mother who says she had the best fish and chips she's ever had - and she demolished the beautifully presented lemon curd meringue too!
Great food, great views what more can you ask for?!
Delicious food in a classic setting
Pannelled walls and excellent service give a sense of style to this traditional quality eatery. A starter of Smoked Haddock and Prawn Chowder with Charred Corn and Bacon Crisp was warming and enjoyable and the Cauliflower and Truffle Pithivier, was nicely cooked with well chosen sides. Dessert of Fruit Tart with Vanilla Custard Cream finished the meal (and me) off very nicely - an undoubted treat!

First thing first, the service was amazing (genuine 5*). Big thanks to the front of the house for finding us a table so fast and to the charming FOH staff. Unfortunately, quite an amazing first impression was all I will remember, as the food was the biggest disappointment. Steak totally destroyed and tasted like rubber, poor excuse of chips that was solid rock. When I was asked, how it was, I just didn’t have the heart to complain to the lovely staff and to make their day miserable. I really wanted to enter the kitchen and make the steak myself because you can’t do it worst than that. A tip for a chef: steak cooked “medium” should keep the red color in the middle.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent dinner and vibe
Myself and three friends stayed in the hotel and ate here for our evening meal. Food was delicious, hot and the chefs menu was excellent value for money! Staff friendly and attentive. Thank you for a wonderful evening
Be the first to ReplyGood food but lacking atmosphere
The food was delicious and service very good however there wasn’t much atmosphere.
I had salmon and was cooked beautifully. My daughter and husband both had steak and they loved it, was definitely cooked to perfection.
I think the service was good as there wasn’t many people there which I was surprised about as it was peak dinner time in central London.
Disappointingly Average
Went for an evening meal before the theatre. My partner has an allergy and the first waitress who sat us down seemed helpful but she was called elsewhere after our drinks were taken. A second waitress showed up to take our food order and my partner asked if the waitress could write down (from their small menu) things she could have. The waitress then proceeded to tell her it would take too long as it was "too busy" to do so (the restaurant was 1/4 full at most), so we were given the allergen sheet. After reading the sheet, she had decided on a meal. We were then told that the allergen sheet does not accurately reflect the actual allergens because of supply chain issues so my partner had to spend another 10 minutes deciding on a meal.
Because of the long wait, we decided to skip a starter and we had a sirloin and ribeye with a side and sauce each. The meal came quickly and the steak was cooked properly but the serving plate was coated in so much rock salt that it ruined the flavour.
Certainly not an experience worth having for the eye-watering price for a small steak. Would perhaps be more reasonable if a sauce and side were included, considering the portions are small and sauce came in a small ramekin.
