My family's favourite Chinese restaurantAmbiance - old town Shanghai, modern retro with Chinese/Taiwanese singers singing old Chinese songs. The older generation would probably love this. My grandparents certainly do. The main attraction for my family though is the food. Been here more than 10 times and almost everything we have ordered has been really good.Tonight we had the following dishes:Black fungus in vinegar (cold appetizer) - mainstay for our family. Simple dish but oh so delicious and refreshing. 10/10Cold bitter gourd (cold appetizer) - refreshing and very bitter. I don't personally like this as I don't like bitter gourd, but it's one of my father's favourites. 9/10Sea cucumber w fish maw & abalone - I'm not a fan of this dish as I don't like abalone but the majority of the table liked it alot. Abalone and fish maw was tender, sea cucumber was juicy and plump. This is an individual portion dish. Came with a lot of veg, so you don't need to order a separate veg dish if you don't want to. 7.5/10Salt & pepper spare ribs - my brother loved this dish. Pretty good, Tender, juicy, not oily. 7/10Garlic dou Miao - very sweet 8/10Dan Dan mian - not a fan of this usually, but ordered one portion as someone wanted to try. Wasn't half bad, sauce was rather tasteful. 7/10Deep fried cod with garlic - lovely. Not at all dry like the usual fried fish in Chinese restaurants, very soft and flaky, almost melt in your mouth. Closer to jap gindara teriyaki type of cod texture then the fried Chinese type of fish. Awesome dish. 8.5-9/10Shark cartilage/bones soup - Don't eat shark's fin soup, and definitely prefer this instead. Warm, rich and full bodied. Very satisfying. 8/10Cold aloe Vera jelly dessert - refreshing, great end to dinner. Possibly my favorite Chinese dessert. 10/10Total cost was about $700 for 6 pax for tonight's dishes
